From the outside it looks really dark but once you step in its lively. Our server was nice and welcoming. We ordered the 3 Hand Rolls option, a Salmon Teriyaki Bento and a Salmon Skin Hand Roll because i was curious. Sapporo on Tap is a must order. All the food was really tasty. There were a few items I had my eyes on so I will be back lol.
Excellent spot! The atmosphere was cozy and welcoming. The rolls were amazing, and the staff was super friendly and made great recommendations. I went here on a whim, and if I get the chance to come back, I most definitely will!
There were some of the BEST hand rolls that I've ever had!!!! I live an hour away and will DEFINITELY be coming back! A5 waygu was absolutely amazing!! The bluefin tobiko was orgasmic! The zig zag was so unique and delicious, I've never had anything like it!! Incredible food! You have to try!!
Wonderful hand roll bar! One of the best sushi places in town! We enjoyed our food every time we ate there. Their drinks, specially their oyster shooter are also great! The fish is always fresh and the seaweeds are crispy enough! It is a wonderful experience so definitely try it!
A great hidden spot in Sacramento! This place stands out for their great hand rolls which are all well crafted so the fish and seafood shine through while complimented by the other components of the roll. I loved trying the different specialty and regular rolls they were all so good. You can taste how high quality every ingredient is. Service is great and they answer any question you may have about the menu. I would definitely come back!
Very nice place. It is small so it's not good for a large party. We sat at the bar and watched them make the rolls. The concept is like Sugarfish. You can order all at once or add to your order. They will serve you your had one one at a time so that the seaweed stays fresh. The chef was nice enough to cut the hand roll in half because we ordered a bunch of different ones to share. We didn't try any of the hot dishes but saw someone eat the pork belly fries and it looked good. We shared the 3 rolls (spicy tuna, yellowtail, and salmon) and tried most of the specials but our favorites were the zig zag hand roll, salmon skin, and taco trio. The ones with jalapeños are spicy so if you dont like spice don't get it. I personally like the albacore and the spice level. Everything was fresh and sushi chef was very attentive to us though I can see it getting really busy. They did use some sauces on some of the rolls so it would get soggy on some parts. But again it's freshly made so not a huge problem. Another difference compared to Sugarfish is the seaweed isn't as crunchy. So when you take a bite, you do have to cut with your teeth. So that was nice of the chef to cut it in half for us; otherwise I can see it being messy. They are not big hand rolls so I would say about 5 to 6 rolls each and a hot plate to share would be good. Each roll is about 7 to 10 dollars so this place isnt cheap. But I would definitely be back.
I am visiting Sacramento for a work trip from Seattle. I found this place on Google maps and could not have been happier with my decision. I started with miso soup and then got 5 hand rolls: bluefin, spicy tuna, creamy scallop, shrimp tempura, and yellowtail. I sat at the bar and watched the guy toast each piece of seaweed and make each individual roll. Absolutely delicious!!
I got sushi for takeout and the quality was amazing. I am surprised this doesn’t have more ratings. Really fair prices and really great spot.
This place is fantastic! Really great quality sushi all around. Here is a bar nwct door you can buy drinks at and they let you bring in it there. The set menu is the way to go that way you can find something you really like. Thw crab roll was our favorite we ordered separately. Staff was amazingly friendly!
Late post. During my recovery last week f rom a cold we took a trip to Sac to get away and before the incoming storm. First restaurant we ate was this lovely place. Every order was enjoyable!!!
Go for the visual experience, scrumptious bites, down-to-earth chats with the amazing staff if that's your thing. A clean and simply laid out sushi bar with friendly sushi chefs and staff. The no-frills focus is on the food prepared before you. We had the Kon2 Blue 55 sake which went pleasantly with the handrolls. We had and highly enjoyed: scallop, creamy scallop, yellowtail, salmon, bluefin, bluefin toro, uni ikura, wagyu.
This is a wonderful little gem. It’s just their version of hand rolls, no sushi rolls with rice on the outside. They have at least 8 varieties including raw scallops which are my favorite. I saw Uni and Toro on the specials, but didn’t have room to try them. The fish is super fresh! Their appetizers are great. They have macaron ice cream sandwiches 😋. Service is excellent!
I love this place! All their hand rolls are filled with so much fish and it tastes so good. In this picture I got the 4 roll special with 4 different types of rolls. I like that they make each roll at a time and will serve it to you when you finish eating the last roll. The service also is amazing every time I come. They’re all very friendly and will explain everything to you, just great vibes. I also tried their lychee soju and it was so delicious. They’re also very innovative with their rolls such as the zig zag roll which was hand downs the best roll I had!
Very cool spot and area. The hand rolls were amazing and definitely will hot the spot if you are craving hand rolls. Got the spicy tuna, blue fin, crab, and salad. All were amazing and on point 10/10. The service was amazing and inside was immaculate and clean. Definitely recommended for anyone craving a hand roll, plenty of options.
Amazing find, been here a few times with a great selection of hand rolls. Only draw back on food is a few other cooked items are quite salty. Unique beer options and few different sakes to enjoy. Staff was attentive and kind. This is definitely a stop for anyone exploring the downtown Sacramento area.
Get here early or you will be waiting for a while. Everything was fresh and delicious. Uni was creamy and briny. Otoro melted. Service was good when we got here but when it got busy, it took a while to close out.
I think these hand rolls are delicious, but I don’t love the vibes inside. It’s a very small place but it feels very industrial rather than cozy. Kind of awkwardly quiet. But the fish is delicious and high quality, and the flavor combos are very thoughtful! I recommend just getting your hand rolls to go!
Great karaage. I didn't know the gyoza would be deep fried, but the filling was tasty. Friendly staff. The patio looks so cool. Nice weather on a Friday night, so I asked to sit outside. Since it wasn't open, and staff dragged their feet saying it's not open now but they could open it if we really wanted to, I politely backed down. Same exact scenario with another customer 20 minutes later. I wonder how many times a night that happens. I ordered a yuzu lager (12 oz. Hitachino) and was served a yuzu white ale (16 oz. Onibi). The can arrived already open. I'm sure they want customers to correct them, but I prefer not to be wasteful even if they get the order wrong. Finally, from sitting at the bar I saw one chef rest his kitchen towel on the prep surface, moving it and wiping down. This wet towel with fish and seafood touched my partner's raw radish garnish. I made sure we didn't eat that (normally would) for fear of cross contamination. Hand rolls were okay. One seaweed was properly grilled and easy to bite through, but the other remained raw and rubbery. Scallops had an extra fishy flavor. Unagi was good. I did like the overall ambience.
Honestly I was going to give four star until I opened the chicken teriyaki to go, it was plain, no sauce or favors at all. When we dine in, five star for her excellent customer service, she was really nice and friendly. But for the food was three stars. Pork belly fries is a little bit too salty, salmon and albacore and spicy tuna hand roll was normal, creamy scallops was good and so as the uni, uni was fresh, no wired taste. Salmon bowl was good. Won’t recommend this location but if you want to try it it’s okay.
Food looked good, but expected hand roll sushi, not taco sushi. We got 5 hand rolls and left hungry. Had to go eat somewhere else because we weren’t even near full. And for the price we paid, I’d expect more.
