Very good food great service always ready to help and nice. Family atmosphere perfect for all events
Definitely a family environment, the decor is old fashioned which I found to be amazing. We were greeted right when we walked in the door, and seated promptly. Within minutes we were brought complimentary chips, salsa and bean dip. The salsa tasted fresh and the bean dip was delicious, my husband and I finished off two baskets of chips. The waiter was very friendly and professional while taking our order and bringing our food. Delicious food! I ordered a combo plate, my husband ordered a macho burrito and we ordered a side of tortillas to share. The tortillas were AMAZING as was both of our plates. Clean environment, friendly staff and great food! I would reccomend this restaurant to anybody who's looking for a wonderful dinner in a awesome environment. I cant wait to go back and try the next meal!
It's definitely worth a visit. Authentic Mexican food, large cocktails, family owned with 3 generations working together. They survived Covid because they have been around since 1980. So many family owned restaurants had to close their doors due to high rent and not being allowed to operate and serve clients. Good for them.
Food is great and different then the average mexican restaurant. It's an older place with the wear you would expect from a place that has been around for decades. I will return to try more of the menu
Best Mexican food on the planet by far! If you want authentic Mexican food this is your spot! 10 pit of 10!!!
As always I love love love this place... I'm never disappointed!!!
Great food,,very courteous service.
My family and I have been eating at kicos for over 35 years. Kicos will always be our top fav restaurant. Food is delicious, service is great and we love the familiar atmosphere.
The food and people are crazy amazing. The tacos are the best I have ever had. Deep fried and amazing taste. Bean dip is really good too. New item fish tacos are also crazy good. Enchiladas are wonderful, especially with there to die for gravy. Free chips and salsa come with the food. Had a great time there. Went with my 3 kids, wife, and sons girlfriend.
My family and I used to eat at Kico's often, but the food changed after the pandemic. This recent visit was not a disappointment. The delicious authentic food is back. Glad I gave them another try
How I haven't found this place soon idk!! Amazing!! My grandparents came to visit and they found this place from trip advisor. It's everything I want in a Mexican restaurant! The seating is plentiful, both and regular chairs. We got 3 baskets of chips and 2 salsas for the 4 of us. They were so good! Yummy, flavorful salsa that was a little too spicy for grandpa. The enchilada sauce is that delicious gravy stuff, perfect to dip your chips in. Homemade tortillas are to die for. I'm eating my leftovers rn and it's all so freaking good! Granparents got chili relleño with enchilada and they talked about how perfect and delicious it was. My kid got the carnitas burrito and stated it was the best burrito he's ever had, and we lived in Stockton most his life. Our waitress was super sweet and attentive. We chatted with the owner when he brought us our chips. They have been here for decades! Please show small business some love and give them a try!
Took longer than we expected to get our pitcher of margaritas. Then it was blended, not on the rocks as ordered. HOWEVER, the problem was corrected right away 🥰🥰🥰 fish tacos, outstanding... Hubby's enchiladas were outta this world!! Jose R was our server & he made absolutely we were very happy with our order 😍😍😍😍 the beans & rice we're even scrumptious
The food was absolutely amazing, some of the best I've ever had. The servers were very nice and made sure there were always chips salsa and water available
I was referred here by a Lyft driver and what a great referral it was. Last week, I grabbed a late lunch for carryout, 2 Chicken Quesadillas (Appetizer size) and a half container of the carne chili asado. I was greeted by the owner and what a great experience it was. He was friendly, helpful and very informative! He explained his food products and with passion. The food was huge in portions, especially the appetizer size Chicken Quesadillas. The carne chili Asado was out of this world. Lots of meat, great taste and filling. An excellent experience with upscale customer service and OUTSTANDING FOOD!! When ever I go back to this area, a definite stop again!! Thank you!!!!
Been coming here since I was a kid, fantastic family ran restaurant, would definitely recommend going anytime
Been going to this restaurant since I was 8 years old and they still haven't disappointed. Beef quesadillas are the best.
Love this place. Food is amazing the people that work here are amazing. It is a family owned restaurant. I will say depending on the day and time you get there depends on the service and food. I've had my downs with the food but I always come back you just have to learn the times and days sometimes they are slow and sometimes they are packed. Weekends nights and holidays they are packed. If the food was disgusting why would they have a full house and returning costumers. Either you love them or hate them. I love the food and this k everyone should try it and make a decision based on their experience.
Something has changed and the food, service and cleanliness has greatly improved is now very good! Huge improvement! We were very pleased. The salsa made by Stella was the best I've ever had! I highly recommend Kiko's!
Service was excellent! Food was great! I had the beef enchilada and beef quesadilla plate! Rice and beans were great! Tortillas were fresh! Get the beef. Very flavorful. Horny Margarita on the rocks with salt!👍
Will you went there Monday, Monday? This was the best Mexican food I have ever had. The food was so flavorable and cooked with so much love. My lady had Chili rellenoit was the eve,I had carnita, very good we also had cocktail big drinks
Ordered online for pick up. Order was waiting for me upon arrival in a massive shopping bag. Somehow I knew that this was going to be a feast to enjoy and when I got back to the office I wasn't disappointed. I ordered a carnitas lunch special for $10. The meal came with a bag of fresh, warm tortilla chips, a large container of freshly made pico de gallo salsa and 2 large hot soft tortillas. I opened up the to-go container to discover everything in the container was still piping hot and the aroma of this Mexican freshness filled the room. A generous serving of carnitas was heaped on 2 soft tortillas sprinkled with fresh lettuce and tomato. I smothered the carnitas with the pico de gallo and dug in. Truth be told, I could barely finish it. Yum!
Wasn't what it was when I started going here in 1995. Still Good but something is a miss. Maybe it's just this old guy remembering all the great meals and all the good people that I had them meals with. Even celebrated a birthday or two here. I will be back regardless. Food still good and still recommend Kico's. Thank you,
My brother asked me to meet him there for lunch. I was blown away! I'm not easily impressed, but I found my favorite restaurant that day. Best Mexican food in town in my opinion. And the service is excellent.
A great throwback in time. Great food and great service. If you're careful with the alcohol you can get away with $20 a plate and feel like you've eaten a full meal.
Best Mexican food in town! Absolutely love this place but I wish they would keep an eye on the phone when they hang it up because I've tried to order takeout 4x but it's constantly busy. When we bring it to their attention when we walk in to order the food, they look at the phone and it's partially off the receiver because nobody hung the phone up properly so you get is a busy signal.
My family has been going to this restaurant since I was a kid. THE best Mexican food I've ever had anywhere. I would highly recommend the amazing food, family owned by the nicest people.
THIS PLACE IS AMAZING! The atmosphere. Cozy. The staff. I feel like family. I actually felt like they were so happy I was there. The margaritas. Strong delicious & plentiful. BUT THE FOOD. OH. SWEET BABY JESUS IT IS SOOOOO GOOD. I MEAN. I'M OBSESSED. YYYYEEESSSSS! (I ordered to go, but they were so nice I stayed and ate and I'm so glad I did.
We really enjoyed our delicious plates of food and the margaritas were bomb too! Also the owner and the staff were the BEST! I would recommend this place to anyone looking to eat a very good plate of Mexican food in a restaurant with a good vibe and friendly service! Matter of fact it's time for us to go again.
Love this place! Family oriented, family owned. Good vibe and wonderful food.
Our favorite restaurant. We’ve been coming here for 20+ years and have never had a bad meal.
Great food. STRONG drinks 🍹and an atmosphere that you just know is a spot thats full or regulars that have been going there for years. Our server has been there 40 years. The couple next to us have been going 30 years. Just an awesome spot all the way around!
Very Great Experience !! IM SO PLEASED BEST MEXICAN FOOD AROUND SACRAMENTO!! WELL WORTH THE MONEY !! Customer service was AMAZING DOWN TO THE FOOD . EVERYTHING WAS HOT, FRESH DOWN TO THE SPICES AND TASTE ABSOLUTELY WONDERFULL 😊 I WILL DEFINITELY WILL BE COMING BACK HERE. WONDERFULL PEOPLE 😊
The enchilada sauce is the best. I had a wet burrito and it hit the spot. My go to is normally enchiladas from here but thought I would try something different. It didn't disappoint.
We’ve eaten in the restaurant here twice, and the service and food has always been wonderful. Today, I ordered for pick up and the food was delicious, and they gave great portions as usual, and food was ready on time.
We love the food and the dining experience is wonderful. This family was one of the pioneers of Mexican food in Sacramento decades ago. They are extremely nice and good-hearted people. We dine there regularly and they have some of the best margaritas and Mexican food in Sacramento!
Kicos has been a staple in the Arden-Arcade community since 1980! Their recipes are locally famous and often imitated. Delicious homemade tortillas and chips. Perfect tasting bean dip, fresh guacamole, and strong margaritas. My favorite is the Quesadilla Dinner, but tonight, I got a grilled shrimp salad to be healthier.
Pleasant experience all around. Bean dip, salsa, gravy and chips were on point. Flour tortillas were as authentic as ever. Entrees were yummy, and those Margaritas in beer mugs were wonderfully head spinning. Can't wait for our next visit. Still amazing food! Anyone asks for good Mexican food. i send them here for sure.

Make sure to request their bean dip. All their food is great. Big servings. If you want a good strong drink this is the place to ask for but remember I told you its strong. I really enjoy their Shrimp Cocktail, nachos, chili Verde plate is really good. Prices are good
Great food!! A local favorite for decades.
Really enjoyed the food and large Margaritas here recently. Friendly service, been here for a while and came recommended by friends with a large group we ate with after the 2022 Sacramento Autorama. I am giving them only 4 stars due to the restaurant needing a bit of cleaning and tidying up. But otherwise I would recommend it.
The 15$ steak taco salad is delicious but I don't think they know what a light pour drink is. I asked for a light pour drink as I didn't have a ride home & ended up with straight tequila. I mean, I got one of those large beer mugs full of tequila. Normally that's my kind of drink but I had a blended mango margarita & I didn't have a single taste of mango. Idk how they got it yellow unless they used yellow food coloring because the only thing in my mug, was the tequila. They charge 10$ for potentially 5+ shots of tequila in one mug which is a pretty good value for money in my opinion. But you need to decide if strong pour drinks are your jam or not (I'm told that all their drinks are strong pour, not just the margaritas). Either way, who needs a night club when you can go to Kico's?
The beans were really flavorful and the rice was nicely seasoned. The tamale was covered in a nice gravy (unlike other places that just use their enchilada sauce). Pretty good house made flour tortillas. The salsa that came with the chips was lacking and almost just tasted like canned tomatoes. Still a good spot though
There mexican 😎 chill is flavorful and the meat melts in your mouth. They also have nice margaritas 🍹 .

Not as good as it used to be. Ordered fajitas. Tortillas not delivered with meal. Almost 10 min later. . Beans had been under a heat lamp for awhile. Waiter never came back and checked on us. Food was flavorless. Won't go back.
Not authentic Mexican food. Would classify this style Chicano style or American style. But hey, I keep going back here. Some of their dishes are a bit nostalgic for me. Try the Chile Verde soup, skip the homemade tortillas.
Service was great....beer was crisp. Food was pretty good. A tad to saucy, and sloppy for my liking, the Chile relleno was different but good, and the tamale was decent. The rice was GREAT but the beans were sub par. Food was hot and fresh and comes with home-made flour tortillas, which are actually pretty good.
Food is always amazing! but the service is a little eyebrow raising. I am a mixed black guy and I have witnessed people that came in AFTER me get service before I got service each time I've been here. Just saying.... On top of that, the service is just a little disingenuous and dry. To me.. I like restaurants that are warm welcoming and this place just isn't it. Everyone should be treated equally the same, but if the warmness isn't in their hearts then the treatment won't feel genuine. Great food though!!
Adequate food in a pinch. Don’t come here if you’re in a hurry. Restaurant had one other customer and waiter took 10 minutes to give me water. Had the carne asada burrito; it was OK but the star was the side of beans. They use bacon grease (speculation based on taste) and it was VERY good. Salsa was too mild for my tastes.
It's been a long time since we've been here. The food is good, love the refried beans and the Chile Verde. Fresh made tortillas from scratch not store bought. The reason I'm giving it only 3 stars is because the price went up and the portions were small. They used to five so much more and the service is slow, it was not busy only 3 tables including us.
Very roomy restaurant. Could use a fresh coat of paint and a good cleaning because you can see dust on the hanging lights as well as the plants. As far as the food is concerned, did not really care for the taste of the salsa or the chips, both had a distinct flavor that wasn't pleasant. The food was pretty good. I had a $19 dish that started with an 'A' that had skirt or hanger steak which was pretty tasty. My husband got a chicken enchilada with red sauce which he liked. I tried it and told him he should have gotten the green sauce which might have given it a little more zing. My friend ordered chicken fajitas which she said was good. I ordered a house margarita which was delicious but after a couple few sips of it I noticed something black floating around in it as well as a couple other little brown specks. My water as well had some black speck in it. Pepper?? My knife that was wrapped up in the napkin had like a dried piece of onion, fairly good sized, on it.
The food is bland, and it took a long time to get tortillas for my food. The chips were overcooked, and left a weird taste in my mouth. The servers were generally unfriendly with only one person who was really nice. The bathrooms were gross and for those with children, they dont have a changing station. The best thing here was the atmosphere but the food was ok at best.
Unfortunately our experience wasn't very good. Food was barely warm. Menus were sticky with food, salt and pepper shakers were dirty also. Bathroom was really bad. Both my girlfriend and I were not feeling well in the evening. They definitely need to pay attention to ensuring menus, condiment containers and tables are cleaned after each use. Place just isn't very clean.
We've been to Kico's twice, the food was just okay and the service was a less to be desired. The restaurant was empty on both visits, now I know why. Our first visit was somewhat enjoyable, the second visit.. not so much. We will look for other dining options in the future when visiting Sacrament.
This place needs a woman's touch. They need women to serve customers. It feels weird that the family men are serving the tables with families. And I didn't like getting my check while I wasn't even half way done with my meal. Very disrespectful. I felt I was being rushed.
I was not impressed with their food at all. The staff is nice tho
The service was subpar. The wait staff's attire requires improvement. The tortillas were of poor quality. While the enchiladas were delicious, the beans and rice appeared unappetizing. Portion sizes were generous. This experience contradicts the majority of reviews, which describe it as exceptional. Overall, I was disappointed, as I had high expectations for a better experience.
If you like Very Slow Service, cold food, high prices for cold no taste slop and plenty of parking?? This is the place for you! \n\nI will not be returning.

I normally don't post but I'm extremely disappointed in the customer service. I ordered online at 12:15pm (2 orders of soup as I'm sick) with pick up time of 12:45pm. When I arrive at 12:45pm they …

The service was great, the food has gone down hill for years surprisingly they are still open, don't waste your money go to Taco Bell, at least you know what to expect. Disappointed never going back!
While visiting other areas, we try to find local places to eat. Once we placed our order we had to ask again for our drinks (after 45 minutes). My midori magarita was nothing but sweet and sour. My rice was crunchy and lukewarm at best. My taco meat was overcooked and burnt tasting. My friend got the flautas the chicken tasted only rotisserie chicken with no flavor. I don't know how this restaurant has such rave reviews. I had high hopes. No one ever asked how our meal was and when they offered boxes and we declined there was no follow up questions.
wait time was rediculous with the amount of open seating. had two baskets of chips and salsa before my drink even came to the table. i made sure to ask if what i ordered had what it said in the menu just to be sure and was told yes. food took forever to come out. missing half of the ingredients. beans were crusty and dry as the desert. my son whose nine didn't even want to eat his food. he ate the side salad because the tortilla was dry and hard on his bean burrito and the beans on his were crusty and disgusting. waiter seemed to be on drugs, came explaining to me how many tables they have to serve and how it's super busy. i don't mind waiting dont get me wrong. but atleast serve the right food and have good waiting. the second time i had to politely tell the waiter i was tired of the excuses that it's frustrating as a first experience this happens. MY food was taken off the bill. i didn't ask for my sons because i was tired of excuses and waiting. won't ever ever be back. i highly don't reccomend and after talking with other ppl i know that have been there they say the same. 😒
Their food might be good... we never got to try it. We went in about 8 on a Saturday. There was almost nobody there, so definitely not overly busy. We were seated, and about 5 minutes later got our drinks and chips and "salsa" - a really weak concoction that was almost water and had the flavor of really underripe tomatoes and little else. We then sat there waiting, with our food order ready and menus closed, for 20 more minutes. I stood up, looking around for our waitress, for about 5 minutes before we gave up. We went to the front counter and let the manager(?) know that we hadn't been served and wanted to pay for our sodas and leave. He was barely apologetic and answered like this was a common occurrence. At least he didn't make us pay for the sodas. We will not be back.
I have been here before so I remembered the great tasting tortillas. Unfortunately I was assaulted by the smell when I first walked in. My son wanted to stay so we did. The food and the service were just ok, but it was so dirty in there that it was hard to get through the meal. Then all of the sudden they started playing music so loud I was shocked. I don't understand how the restaurant keeps passing because the whole place that I saw needs someone to care about it. Maybe it's expensive to upgrade but it costs nothing to clean. I will never go there again.
I am so sad. I haven’t eaten here in 20 years. I go back to Luis’s on Alhambra. I remember when Kico’s first opened. Today the famous salsa was flavorless. The food was old and microwaved. I’ll never go back. So sad for them and me. 😔
The food was gross. I've never was so disappointed in my whole 59yrs as I was on Mother's Day. I use to eat at Kicos all the time but haven't for about 2yrs due to Covid. I'm not sure what they are doing with change but it wasn't ownership I asked them if it changed ownership and no it hadn't. The portions and quality is nasty. The food has refused to less then a quarter in size and I could swear some is out of a can the rest frozen. The taste was nasty. I will never eat there again even if they paid for it.
Dirty smelled like bleach or dirty mop water. Silverware dirty. Margarita pitcher dirty. Food cold, bean dip cold, chips stale, salsa horrible. Took one bite and asked for my check. Was still charged for everything even though I refused to eat anything. Paid left will NEVER return. Dark, just horrible
DISGUSTING!!!!🤮 !!!!!! I was looking for a nice restaurant to go to with friends and after reading the reviews, eight of us showed up for the first time. My first impression was right, we should’ve left just from the looks of the unkept restaurant on the outside. When you walk in the door, there was the smell of Pine-Sol and not food. It was dark and very filthy, chairs were so gooey and sticky, carpet was so nasty. That was a cockroach in the bathroom. I think that’s why they keep it so dark in there so you don’t see the bugs. Food is pricey, for an à la cart tostada was 11+ dollars. They only had two beer choices on tap and nothing in can. Something wrong in here. We will never be returning to this restaurant ever again. It’s sad because I guess it used to be a great place at one time.
The food is a C- its not traditional more like Americanized food quality was low the salsa and chips needs improvment. The place needed a good upgrade and the place is dirty especially the restrooms they are a F- place is dirty
The service was lousy. People should have kept checking on us but nobody did. We ate there a few weeks ago and the food was even worse than last time. We had enchiladas and they were dry. We had to ask for special guacamole without green pepper because with green pepper it tasted vile. It was filthy, tables weren't washed. My flavored margarita was like water. No flavored tasting, no alcohol tasting, and expensive yes. We never thought we would say this about this restaurant we grew up with.
Waited 45 minutes for my food to be told they ran out of shrimp 2 hours ago. No one bothered to tell me until I asked what was the delay with my order. A lady told me they have been busy all day as if that was a valid reason to not advise a customer that the item they ordered would not be fulfilled.
Mediocre food complimented by zero service. Waving at staff who walk by and disregard you. Food will arrive at random intervals, some not getting served. Literally can't get a glass of water. At the end when asking for checks, when we could eventually get a response, we were told to go to the counter yourself. Maybe the service was so bad as we were not regulars. Clearly we will not be
DON'T EAT HERE..CHIPS ARE EVEN STALE...iv posted a picture of my "quesadilla" and the beans that have an old hard shell of an outside..which was $15.00..and more like 2 nearly cheeseless soft tacos!!..they also ran out of rice and ddnt tell us..just put 2 scoops of nasty lookin beans..I could tell the beans were put into the foam container at the beginning of the day (I ordered at 9pm)... Totally not worth it..terrible prices..terrible food...and they couldn't even refund the order (cause I didn't want this nasty lookin crud anymore) .. they instead just offered a damn gift card
I didn’t get to taste the food due to poor service, wasn’t full of people, I was told to sit down, 15 minutes later NO ONE stopped by to ask if I wanted a drink or ready to order. Maybe next time.
The place is filthy! Not sure how they are not shut down. Floors, menu's, walls, bathroom. Really bad. Should have walked out, the smell was terrible. I was with friends and didn't want to be "that person." Received a soda and the glass had clumps of something stuck on the inside of the glass. Soon my friends were noticing the walls, tables, tv screen, floors etc. Service was slow. I wasnt comfortable enough to eat the food. I'm thinking that they don't get health department visits.
This was our second time visiting Kico's. The food was served hot but the salad was extremely yellow, slimy, and wilted! I personally asked both waiters if they would eat a salad that looks like that and they said I should have asked for another one. I shouldn't have to send my food back, you should serve fresh produce! They both knew it was gross and unacceptable. When it was time to pay, their Visa system went down. I waited patiently for a while before informing him that I had to return to work. He was agitated when I told him I did not have cash available because I was paying with my card. He was rude and stated "then you will have to leave your credit card number or ID card". I would NEVER leave that information at a restaurant. It was unprofessional and very uncomfortable. In the end, I was finally able to pay with my card. I will never return! I did not appreciate their demeanor after their own system malfunctioned. There are much better restaurants in Sacramento with quality service and fresh salads!
They sick! Food wasn't good! I thought fajitas were supposed to ce served on a cast iron platter. Not this place! Server didn't even say a word. Never came to see how we were doing I rather have taco bell.or del taco. Food would have been much better Plus cheaper. I don't know how they stay I'm business
Really was hoping I finally found some good Mexican Food Freind recommend this place took his word for it but Looks like i won't be coming here again 😕. They did give me Flour tortillas ended up Rolling what I could salvage.Flavor wise wasn't Good Salsa Just tomato needed salt more and attention. For 80.00 You'll think it would be worth it But definitely not worth it.
Been coming here for years. Food was great. Always tipped well. Had a take out order for $70, food was all cold and dry. Complained. Got a gift card. Now when i go in, guy who runs the register (im guessing the manager) intentionally makes me wait an extra 15 minutes for my food knowing its just sitting there getting cold. I check my food out, just incase its gonna look like my previous order, and the guy freaks out and just hands me my gift card saying “just take it, I dont feel like arguing with anyone”. I literally just said im gonna look at it real quick. Some unnecessary highschool behavior. Not my fault you sent me away with crap food and had to give me my money back. Guy clearly does not value regular customers. The rest of the staff is cool and nice.
