I had an amazing experience here! We were a group of 14 and the service was impeccable — very fast and attentive. Most of us got molcajete or fajitas. Everyone loved their food! The molcajete specifically was a favorite. I am a pescatarian so I got shrimp fajitas — which I really enjoyed — and a delicious tamarindo agua fresca. The decor is also really fun. I’d definitely go back next time I’m in San Antonio.
Great place! I was going to take a picture of my food to share, as well, but I wound up eating it all on sight. I was actually kind of lost when I bumped into the place - the cook(?) was just coming outside, and invited me in to eat. The place is eclectic, with a bunch of funny and snarky signs. The loud, 80s boogie music brought it all together, great place. Would recommend, 10/10
The carnitas burrito at Guadalajara Grill is a winner! The slow-cooked pork was incredibly flavorful and tender, with delightful crispy bits. Generously filled with fresh ingredients and a tasty salsa, it was a truly satisfying meal. If you love carnitas, don't miss this burrito! Highly recommend.

The service, the ambiance, the drinks. \nA place to seek comfort with a nice properly made drink. The music just tops off to how smooth and enjoyable a bad afternoon can turn into a great evening. …
The sour cream chicken enchiladas were some of the best I've ever had. The bartender, Willie, made it even better. Love this place! We'll definitely be back!

Great food and ambiance. The waitstaff is accommodating and friendly. Had the smoked marlin tacos for appetizers and shrimp tostadas very good food and oh the skinny margaritas are spot on!

Amazing food appeared to be a family owned and operated restaurant. The atmosphere very homey and relaxing but fun. We love it!
The staff render a very personalized experience and great service. The number of menu options is a bit limited, but there are some great choices. Portions are very generous: two could share an entree. I tried the Mexican (enchilada) combo. Decor is unique and quirky, but it doesn't have a cozy feel.
No Beef Fajitas and the chicken fajitas were very dry. The tortillas are not homemade

The Fajita Nachos were very bland. Could have used some salt and lime juice. A small plate with minimal meat or salsa.\nService was good, ambiance was interesting with a great flashback to the 1920's.

So good we went twice first for lunch then for the last night dinner. the shrimp tostadas are marvelous and the best margaritas we had in San Antonio.

Good service, beautiful restaurant but the QUANTITY of the molcajete was not for 2 as advertised, easily for only one. Expensive but it’s understandable due to location, very convenient. I was expecting better I guess. New in town and from all the places I have gotten food, this has been my least favorite. Not bad, just not great, and lack of quantity of meats n chicken did it for me.
Tried this place because it looked like a good place, we were hungry and it was located in La Villita and it was Dia de los Muertos weekend. We were soooo disappointed - the food was so bland no flavor no seasoning at all. I ordered nachos and they were cold and the cheese was horrible. The margaritas were goodie. Service was not great either and it's not because of language- he was just grumpy and didn't not friendly. Do not recommend to expensive for the service and food quality.
Service was great 👍, food 🥑 okay 🆗. Priced affordably for tourists. Food was hot but not tasty. I admit the menu was simple and easy to read. My waitress was very nice and didn't rush me to order. There is a full bar inside and that is where this place really shines. I only ordered water since it was 100 plus outside. Everyone around me was drinking and enjoying the air conditioner. I will admit my tortillas came from HEB.

Nice people and friendly. Limited vegan and vegetarian options. The chips were decent, but most were broken. The table side guacamole was good, but $13 is steep.

Staff was very nice. food came out pretty quickly. food was acceptable quality, not anything to write home about. Guacamole was good.

Love supporting local establishments but sadly was not impressed. They really struggled with our large group, food was undercooked for some, cold for others and didn't handle food restrictions/allergies appropriately. Smaller groups might have better experiences.
I was very surprised by the portion size for the amount we paid. I've eaten and worked on the Riverwalk for years so that's no excuse. Gratuity added to a party of 6 was fine I guess? The last time I had beans and rice like this was in Arkansas....which I should have known better....🤢. Also, y'alls grill cook needs to clean his vent hood before the restaurant catches fire. Just being lazy is gonna cost you.
I don’t want to be too hard on these folks. The food was okish for a Mexican restaurant in the area. The food was not hot, didn’t feel fresh, and the menu just feels like they’ve mailed it in. 34 years is a good run. The service itself was fine but so slow. We spent 2 hours here for mediocre food at prices which do not match the quality. That’s a LONG time for Mexican food. I’d go somewhere else if I had to do it again.
The food was lower quality that leaves much to be desired. The waiter seemed grumpy and not very friendly. Menu was also a little unclear so when ordering food we ended up with something more expensive than what we wanted
ate here as a family member recommended it but I somewhat regret eating here. I believe I got some sort of foodborne illness from this restaurant and I am not pleased, especially considering the price was pretty high. I had a taco salad which was fairly simple, but for some reason, the one main part of the taco salad, which was the grilled chicken completely threw me off. The chicken was dark and dull and almost rubbery, and I don’t believe it was fully cooked all of the way. The queso cheese dip tasted like something I could’ve bought from the grocery store and the chips were a bit stale. The rest of the table seemed pretty pleased with their meal, but mine was absolutely a miss. Not a big fan of the fact that they use dark meat chicken when most Mexican restaurants use grilled white meat so that also threw me for a loop. And it was just lacking a lot of flavor. I would recommend trying the plenty of other options around the area before coming here. The service was good though.
We took some family to the river walk and it was so crowded. We decided to walk to La Villita for a quieter and air conditioned lunch. The people at this restaurant were so nice, unfortunately, they took way too long to take our orders and made many many mistakes on our orders. The wait was very long. The menu was limited. We got chips and queso but the chip to queso ratio was off and we were never offered more. It was also very soupy and not that flavorful. The salsa was good with a bit of spice but we were there over 30 min before getting chips and salsa and it wasn’t much so we ran out and weren’t offered more. The food was pricey and the portions on the smaller size but I will say everyone’s food was pretty good. I don’t think we would eat here again.

Given the way the world is at this time, I believe we all need some peace and tranquility and we deserve a good meal, well this is not it. I am giving you all the best advice just to go to any other …
Don’t eat here. My family stopped in for a quick lunch and ordered an appetizer platter. - The chicken was grey, rubbery, and slimy. - The ‘queso’ was completely watery. - All of us felt nauseous after only a bite or two each. The waiter was kind and apologetic, but I’m certain we would have all gotten food poisoning had we eaten any more.
Do not waste your time and money on this restaurant. We foolishly did and we regret it. We were told it would be a 30 minute wait because of a large party, we had no problem with that. We ended up waiting an hour. The lime Margarita tasted like water. The strawberry margarita was better but not the best either. The rice had no flavor whatsoever. In fact it tasted like water as well. I ordered a tortilla soup that came in a small bowl, 2 small margaritas (not the large schooner you get at other restaurants). My husband ordered the fajita plate and 2 beers. $94 later……here we are. They wanted to serve me my soup when my husband’s meal wasn’t even ready yet which I noticed they were doing to the large group as well. The first person in that group was done with his meal and last person hadn’t even been served yet. That was our first and last time
Terrible experience. We went for lunch on Christmas Eve after seeing a show accross the street. Instant regret. In short, we were the only people there but still had to wait to be seated. The server didn't show us to a table or indicate where he wanted us to sit. I ordered 2 a la cart tacos, but got brought a platter and a taco. My gf ordered a chicken taco salad with no cheese or sour cream, but got brought a salad with cheese. She sent it back and it came back wrong again and was beef, not chicken. The lettuce was disgusting and it was sitting in about a quarter inch of grease. My food did not taste good at all. When the check was brought it was not itemized, but it was clear we got overcharged. Cost us over $40 for a salad, a platter and a taco and it was all barely edible. We would've argued to get it fixed, but there was a language barrier and my gf wanted to get out of there because she was very uncomfortable with how the server kept touching her shoulders and getting super close to her face any time he talked to her. I started feeling sick about 30 minutes after we left. No way we will be back.
This was the worst Mexican restaurant I have ever eaten at. All the food was overcooked and bland, the beans had a sour taste to them and the service was not pleasant. The 2 waiters were not friendly at all and seemed bothered to serve us. The food was really overpriced considering how horrible the food tastes.
I went to this restaurant on Friday 10/24/25. I ordered a fajitas for 2 people beef and chicken. I got nothing but scraps not even enough for 2 people. We only got rice bc they had no beans, no guacamole, no tostadas and flour tortillas from HEB . They didn't even take any money off the bill for not having any food. This place has gone downhill. I will not be back and I'm a local not a tourist!
