I had never been to this location before, but I had to stop going to the location near my house at Thousand Oaks and Jones maltsberger because they could not make a bean and cheese right. I have been so happy ever since I've been coming here because it's always fresh, it's always hot, it's always good and the people are always nice! You gotta see their Halloween decorations there great!!! 🎃 Thank you for making me feel special no matter how I order my meal

First visit experience was everything you want when dining out. The food was delicious, fresh and hot. Drinks were in big cups so we didn't have to keep bugging the waitress for refills (and their tea is so good). The restaurant was clean and atmosphere was good. Daniela was our server and she was a sweetheart. She kept checking on us and made sure we were well taken care of. Very impressed overall with food quality and service. We will be back soon!

Las Palapas is a chain, I know, but this one is the one to go to. It’s a cut above all the other ones. The food is always right, the staff actually cares, and it’s super cleanly. The management at this one is doing things right. If you want palapas, you should eat at this one.

First time to this location and it was sparkling, clean, fresh and ready for business. A sit down lunch that was MASSIVE, and still under $10! What a win for flavor, freshness, service and serving size. You gotta try this place! Love that the “bar/cantina” is separate from the main restaurant and adjacent to a wonderful patio.

This is our go to Mexican restaurant. Close to our house, awesome servers, drinks, and excellent food! Not sure why there are so many negative reviews. Highly recommend!

Las Palapas was nice, though quite busy. We were seated quickly, but since it was peak hours, the service was a bit slower—not bad at all, just something to keep in mind during busy times. The portions were perfect and definitely worth every penny for a chain Tex-Mex restaurant.

We eat at this Las Palapas all the time and we always have exceptional service with Sergio in the bar area. With that being said, the restaurant itself has started to go down hill. There is always an issue in the women’s bathroom, a toilet not working properly etc. And every Sunday when we go to breakfast the issues still aren’t fixed (months now). Now they have gotten rid of the napkin dispensers on the tables, why? For months they didn’t have ice tea spoons, I would end up with a soup spoon in my tea. Today I decided to try the brisket and egg taco they have for rodeo. I forgot to take a picture and I don’t expect it to look like the picture on the menu because it never does, but I do expect it to have brisket! There was literally 5 TINY pieces of meat. Sooooo disappointed! I didn’t want to send it back when Sergio offered to get me something else, but I will NEVER make that mistake again! Buyer Beware!!

The chips at this restaurant were incredibly crunchy and the salsa was fresh with a hint of cilantro that really enhanced the flavor. The atmosphere was laid-back and comfortable, with plenty of seating options both in cozy booths away from the bar area and at the bar itself where you can enjoy music and TVs with friends. There was also an outdoor patio area, although it faced a busy freeway which was a downside. I ordered the beef fajita bowl, which was packed with rice, charro beans, lettuce, tomato, and slices of avocado. The only downside was that the fajita meat was not chopped up, but overall it was tasty and filling. My husband opted for the carne guisada plate, which was a bit different from the traditional dish. It consisted of large chunks of roast with a unique gravy, which was decent but not outstanding. The cheese enchilada on the side, however, was delicious with plenty of cheese and sauce. Our waiter was attentive and friendly, making our dining experience enjoyable overall. The only complaint was that the portions were quite large, making it a bit too much food for us to finish.

The food was mediocre but the quality was definitely not worth the pricing. Ultimately, these guys have some of the WORST service - GEEZ! I saw our waiter once after they left the food. After waiting for god knows how long, the bartender asked if we needed anything. I asked for to-go boxes and he said ‘I gotch-u’ but then proceeded to wait on other customers & making drinks. We just ended up leaving the food we were trying to box up because…well, we never got the boxes! 🤣 we walked up front to try to pay & they tried to get us to go back to the table to wait to be checked out! FINALLY someone came to the front and worked the register. HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE SERVICE AND ZERO CUSTOMER SERVICE ETIQUETTE!

I am a regular at this location and am very upset with what happened to me and my daughter on February 10th 2026 at the O'connor location . We arrived for dinner around 8:30 and ordered what we always get , the beef tacos al carbon plate and the combination plate with the crispy beef taco . When we were eating our meal my daughter complained to me saying the refried beans tasted strange. I then took a big bite of my charro beans and swallowed a spoonful and right when I was swallowing I noticed there was a rotten/spoiled taste to them . I spit out what I could and tried my daughters. Hers had an extremely sour spoiled taste as well . I let my waitress know and I asked if I could get a fresh side of refried beans so I could make sure it wasn't the lime I had squeezed on our tacos. Sure enough when I took a small taste of the fresh refried beans shethe waitress brought to the table, I realized the beans were rancid and sour . I was very upset but chose to be kind to the waitress. I asked for the manager and explained the situation and the manager acted like I was being difficult . I asked her if she could please take off my tacos Al carbon plate from the bill and she reluctantly did . She should have comped the whole meal but she didn't. I then paid the remaining bill and gave my waitress a large tip because I knew it wasn't her fault and she happened to be pregnant . Anyway, on my way home I immediately started feeling pain in my stomach and I'm very saddened to say I am now experiencing full-blown food poisoning . I called and let a waiter named Bryan who I am friendly with , know about the situation , including my horrible multiple never ending adventures in my bathroom . I don't know what happened, I've always had good food at this place. I'm in there at least once a week with my family . I'm very let down that when I ate there close to closing time, they chose to let me eat more than likely, rancid beans that had been sitting out all night and quite possibly all day . I will never return to this establishment again . 🤢😩🥵

I went to eat at this restaurant and honestly, it's the worst. The service from the waiters was terrible, especially from one named Daniel, who was very rude to the busser and very discourteous to the customers. They really need to do something about that guy or girl. And this isn't the first time; I've talked to my friends and we all agree that the service is awful. It's a truly terrible place.

Ordered online , came to get the food , waited longer that what was indicated , once home realized I was missing a taco and the tortillas were missing from the plate item. Called about issue and talked with KC , was told they would replace my whole ticket of which I was extremely pleased to hear. Went about 20 days later with the receipt and wanted to redeem my replacement door. Staff told me I wasn’t in a book of mistakes they record . They told me best they could do is give me a taco. So I was lied to by KC or I it was never written therefore there was nothing more I could apparently do at that time. I guess I wasn’t telling the truth . Now I’ll have to go back another time to try and talk with KC about this issue and maaaaaybe get better service .

So I usually come to this Las Palapas on O’Conner . It’s usually one of my favorites, but today I was sadly disappointed😢. My sister and I got there about 9 PM with still an hour to go before closing. We decided to try their small Menudo. Grant it we had no idea that the small was literally the sauce cup or the cup for charro beans. Now even that was not what I was disappointed about. I decided to complain about the amount of food in the cup and its burnt meat. So I asked for the manager because there was only one spoonful of meat in that little cup. Everything else was liquid . When I tried talking to the manager He kept talking over me “he’s like well do you want a bigger bowl? I said no I want a little bit more meat and he’s like well. I can bring you a big bowl or I can put more corn in it. I said I don’t want more hominy I just want a little bit more meat and he started to talk over me again trying to say that “ Oh well I’ll have to bring you another bowl” when that’s not what I wanted.At the end since he was unwilling to listen to me, he just kept trying to talk over me and push a bowl on me . I Kept trying to show him that even the little bit of meat that was in that little cup or sauce bowl was burnt. He got angry and he goes “well I’ll Just take it off. Do you want anything else? “ I told him no in the end because now I no longer felt comfortable or appreciated for coming to eat here.

BE AWARE …BE AWARE …BE AWARE Rats at this place!!!!! We were visiting San Antonio for a wedding and a few friends recommended this place ! We just came out of the hospital from last night after eating this nasty food at this place !! The doctor said : this’s not the first food poisoning that came to us from that place..the entire family myself and my son my daughter and my wife got super sick as soon as we left this nasty place we were terrified driving ourselves to the nearest hospital ..We got a report from the hospital ! It’s a nasty food and also nasty attitude from all the staff working at this place, as my wife said at the beginning let’s leave she said ! they’re super rude in here and I don’t feel comfortable eating in here ! I wish I listened to her !
