Went in with friends for dinner! The vibes overall are really cool! Good cocktails, great food, and amazing dessert! Staff was friendly and willing to accommodate us and provide suggestions with great background knowledge!
Liberty Bar, which is located in Southtown, SATX, is a great spot for a cocktail + delicious food! :-) I visited for the first time this weekend, and had a great experience. The vibes inside Liberty Bar are incredible, as the house the restaurant is based in is quite historic. Per their website, the Henry Elmendorf house was constructed in 1882 in the Silk Stocking neighborhood known as King William. They make a delicious House Margarita (I love the Strawberry House Marg the most), and The Sheep Ranch is a great seasonal tequila-based cocktail that was on their menu when I initially reviewed Liberty Bar! For starter plates, their Beirut Flashback with Fresh Baked Pita is really delicious - so fresh!! The staff at Liberty Bar are so kind, as well. This is a great spot!!
I’m here specifically to talk about the matzah ball soup. I came here last night after a long time away and forgot how magical this place is, especially at night. I was in the mood for a comforting soup, and this dish truly made me feel like everything was gonna be okay. In fact, this soup was the first thing I thought about this morning, hence this review. The broth was clear and full of flavor. The fresh celery and dill really tied it all together. I had never had a matzah ball before but if this is what they’re supposed to taste like, then I totally get the hype. Great flavor and texture. Service was excellent as well! Can’t wait to come back and have it again.
I've been in San Antonio for two years and never been at Liberty Bar before last week, sadly. Really nice location, near other businesses, everything walking distance in a cute downtown area. The place inside looks warm and welcoming. I ordered pot roast and chocolate cake. I appreciated that they use quality ingredients and they keep the menu not overwhelming but with choice. The roast was good, simple and tasty as a dish like that should be. I do want to spend a couple of words on the cake because to me it's very hard to find a good dessert. My main concern is how sweet American desserts are. Well, this cake had the right amount of sweetness, it was enjoyable, it was the perfect amount of dessert after a meal and I wasn't grossed out by the end, which is rare. I really appreciated the quality of the ingredients used and the balanced flavours. Although I don't like American carrot cake, I did taste some from a friend and I tasted the same care in preparation for that cake, not too much spice and not too much sweetener. I could taste all the ingredients separately which is what a dessert should be like. I'll definitely go back again to try more of the menu!
We went to Liberty bar after an Octoberfest event down the street for a late night snack. Their late night bar menu was exactly what we were craving! Their fries were great and came with a super garlicky aioli. Their margarita pizza was the perfect thing to split with one other person as a late night snack as well. The atmosphere was super cool with all the neon signs and interesting architecture. We will definitely be back!
Are the locals hiding this place? We came from New Orleans and the food and drink were superb. The vibes and atmosphere 🧑🍳💋. Beautiful people that were happy to serve food they take pride in. We got a cocktail and mimosas with fresh oj. We shared plates and got the Pain Perdu. Which was unique and delicious. We also got the Beirut flash back which was the best mideastern dip plate I’ve had in awhile. We also got the chiliques which was better than my dad’s! So much fresh delicious salsas and bright and satisfying. Will come here again!
Tell me why this is my fav brunch spot. Started with the bread basket. I'm not sure if their jam is homemade but it's so good. I always opt with the simple breakfast. The potatoes on the simple breakfast could be a tad bit fried better. That's my only complaint. Dinner at the liberty bar is good too. You have to try their chips and queso , salsa flight. That is a 10/10. The cocktails are A+
This place is such a vibe. We wondered to this place during First Friday Art Walk. We happened upon an elevator on the side of this building without realizing where it was leading to. We enter and its neon pink with signs signaling to the top floor. The elevator dings and you are greeted with cozy, eclectic, buzzing vibes of a cool and swanky place. It’s just the right energy for a casual but also cool spot. The bartenders make excellent drinks! And the food is also pretty good. There is not bad seat in the place in my opinion. Also! I had to told the waiter we were there to celebrate my father in laws birthday, and the waitress brought out a slice with a candle! It was so sweet and thoughtful. He said it was his best birthday ever! I highly recommend coming to this place at night if you want immaculate vibes.
Loved the vibes in the restaurant! Very classy and chill! I ordered the shrimp bisque to start. I loved that! My main dish was the Salmon encilantrado loveddddd that. A simple but tasty and filling dish!!! The hibiscus tea was so delicious and refreshing. Try this cute spot out! I love when places are not only a vibe but the food is amazing
Eclectic truly describes this eating establishment! A proper place for luncheon or an intimate dinner for two. I tried their burger with added avocado and the flavor was superb! Very friendly staff wait and always eager to help. A full bar upstairs can handle added patrons and is a treat in this historic grand building.
Beautiful and eclectic, great views, great vibe, and the prices are very reasonable for the quality of food you receive. The bread, pizza dough, and fettuccine are made in-house. The drinks are well made, and the decor is fun and shares a history of the place. I would say a 4.6 experience. The only real negative was that the music is way too loud by the speakers, so it feels that you have to raise your voice when speaking, and it's hard to hear anything. It made everyone raise their voices, which just increased the noise levels. Besides that, great experience. Will be going again.
Liberty Bar was awesome. My friends and I stopped in here to burn some time, and we had a blast. The food was delicious. I ordered the burger medium cooked with all the toppings to include an egg. The sourdough bun whichbisbmade in house was great as well. The bread could have been thinner, but that is just my take on it. The fries were phenomenal. They were crispy and soft on the inside, and the seasoning was perfect. I definitely recommend the fries as a side. The service was great. Our bartender was very knowledgeable on the menu and also had the food before, so he was able to provide excellent insight into the taste of the food. The ambiance was very chill. There are random pics of art everywhere and mirrors along the wall. I really enjoyed the selection of music played. The song selection really complimented the vibe of the place. If you want to relax and chill with your friends and have some good food and drinks, I would definitely visit here.

Still a great place for brunch lunch or dinner. We go almost every weekend and it's always great, especially the cappuccino!
A great place for brunch! Incredibly friendly staff, quick service, and delicious food. I am looking forward to going back and trying more of the menu.
Great Fathers Day Brunch! Everything was nice - service, atmosphere, food. \n\nNo wait.
A place I visit very frequently and have never had a wait even without a reservation! The Queso De Cabra is a staple as well as the Lamb Burger! The best Aperol Spritz I've ever had in America!
I mean... what is there not to love?? The food, the drinks, the service, the architecture and artwork. It's just my favorite.
Great relaxing atmosphere, friendly staff, delicious food. Pot roast bowl and fettuccine special were amazing and filling. Good selection of beer (not too many)

We had a catered event today that was terrific. The planning was effortless, the service was outstanding and the ambiance was so comfortable. Wait, I didn’t mention the Bloody Mary’s and the food! …
We have gone here since the old location opened. Barbecue tacos, the #3 and the bread is excellent. Excellent vibe in a historic Benedictine church
Good food, neat house, and decent experience in South Town. Been here a few times, usually good overall. Food is descent overall, but there are some delicious items on the menu to not miss (the burger isn't one of them). Wait staff are a mixed bag, some are outstanding, some barely come to the table and show no hustle. It hasn't stopped us from coming though - that says a lot!
The location is this places upside. The old church is gorgeous and a lot of potential. The restaurant however is kind of a stain. The food was really sub par. The tortillas were the quality of a stor…

I am not a fan of Tex-Mex but this restaurant was good. The Liberty is an old convent and its front patio area has the look of the Caribbean or Key West. I was sitting inside in what looked like a sh…

Great atmosphere and a superb bartender..I had the squab for dinner which was delicious...place a bit funky but funky can be fun
The old convent building is cool to explore and is something to see. But the bar upstairs is basically a dive bar in need of an upgrade to make this place really shine.
The newer menu leaves a lot to be desired. I have loved this place since the 80's. The food quality has gone down tremendously. Hope they bring it back up.

Well, the bartenders seemed more interested in flirting with the female guests. the drinks were ok, but was overwhelmed by their conversations on who they would have sex with and what they'd do to …
We went to Liberty Bar on a Sunday for their brunch and I have to say I was a bit disappointed with the food.\nThe service was great but the food tasted cold. I did let the server know and he offer…
The outside is absolutely beautiful definitely picture worthy, but I send you step inside. It doesn’t match the outside. The food was not good. It was super bland with no flavor. The service was the worst part. Unfortunately Chloe had no personality and you could barely grab something out of her hand before she was walking away almost dropped our water glasses. Secondly, I was trying to be friendly with her and say her bracelet reminded me when I was younger and I was smiling and she basically gave a look like I don’t give a crap. Why are you talking to me?! I will not be back. Our table was friendly. I left a 20% tip. If not more just the service alone will be the main reason why I’m not coming back. Secondly, the food unfortunately.
0 star if I could. The place was not busy, just 3 of us and 4 at the bar. We waited 18 min for the server, but no one came. I had to go to her to ask if she can take our order. It was about an hour…
Poor service, extremely long wait just to get our drinks and even longer to take order and get food. \nFood is overpriced undercooked
My date’s cocktail had a hair in it, most likely from the server who had long, untidy hair. The his salmon arrived and it was RAW. “How would you like your salmon cooked,” was her response! I was disgusted with the food and the service. Never going back again. Too bad the food and service was a miss because it’s kind of a cool place.
Been going to the liberty bar for years, always been used to the weight Staff approaching the table as if you should be grateful they’ve even come at all. It was a cold night, but I made the mistake of ordering the pot roast, which sounded really good on the menu. The beef should be so tender it melts in your mouth, but this was tough like beef jerky out on the trail. Surrounded by just a few carrots and a few lonely potatoes. My girlfriend has spent the last hour and a half cramped up on the commode after eating there. Don’t think we’ll be back
