My wife really wanted to try this spot. I am so happy we did! The food was amazing and came out quickly. Not only that the service was awesome! They always made sure we were taken care of. The ambiance was equally impressive. Very clean, nice set up with great music. We will definitely come back in the future as I would tell anyone who wants good food surrounded by good people they should definitely give it a try.
Food and atmosphere was great! The server could have been a little more attentive by circling back more frequently and refill water and/or soft drinks without the guest asking. The server we had was a young man named Deiontrious (he didn't have on a name tag nor did he introduce himself I had to ask his namd so I'm sure I'm spelling his name incorrectly) Overall great experience and I would recommend and revisit. Lamb chops were EXCELLENT but a little spicy for those who have a low tolerance for spice.
Food was great. Vibes were great. Drinks were great. Waitresses were super nice. Absolutely loved this place! Me and my friends went for brunch and they had a DJ playing some good music also. This is definitely a fun, vibey place with good food. I got the chicken and red velvet waffles with their oxtail flatbread. I also had ordered a spicy mango mocktail and a mimosa. Definitely is pricey like everyone else mentioned, but honestly I loved it so much I didn’t really mind. Only thing I would say is that the music is loud so that part may not be for everyone, but I enjoyed it. I would definitely recommend this place for anyone who wants to have to go out for Saturday or Sunday brunch.
What a FABULOUS Evening Hostesses Destiny & AleCiana we're so warm and welcoming when we arrived they also surprised my best friend ilsa I'll with a delicious slice of cheesecake for her birthday. V & Kim. Shout to my brunch bartender Maria.🔥 The manager Kim was v kind and sweet. Richard the bartender tonight made me the strongest extra dry martini. And last but not least let's not forget V our server who was absolutely amazing lovely. The food and drinks where outstanding!
We came to celebrate a friend's bday. Tryst has a cool atmosphere. Great music but not too loud to enjoy your group. The food was plated well with a great taste. I see why the lamb chops won an award...warning they do have a little spice. My favorite was the collard green dip!! There were no complaints from anyone. Ample portions. Everyone was pleased with their drinks (especially those that got mimosas... they loved they had liquor in it.) Now to shout out the service... diverse and professional! Melissa, our server, was excellent and accommodating to our large party. I found out that the General Manager (Sug) and owner (Bruce) were in the building and I had to let them know of our experience. (P.s. Bruce...excellent servant leadership! I first saw you bussing dishes and would have never known your position). We will be bk when we come to the city again! [If you go for brunch, check out that menu. It does not have all the same options] We hung out so long, we got to meet Chief Britt and eat peach cobbler. Two thumbs up...
I was in San Antonio for a conference and a friend recommended TRYST and I’m so glad she did! I stopped in for lunch and had an amazing experience. Mariah was my bartender, and she made the perfect pineapple mimosa. Carl was also incredibly pleasant and checked in on me, which made the service feel even more personal. I ordered the Cajun pasta and added shrimp it was absolutely delicious! I honestly wish I lived here because this would be my go-to spot. Highly recommend TRYST for great food, great drinks, and even better service!
It was my first time there and I was celebrating my birthday with my sister. She has been before but it has been a while. We seat at the bar because I didnt know we needed to make reservations to be seated at a table. But I didn't mind. We both order an appetizer and an entree. The collard greens dip was not giving greens or smoked turkey. Only cream and cheese. It did have a nice flavor but that it. So I was disappointed about that. She order the soul food wrap. It was giving macaroni but no greens and hardly any meat. You see a piece of meat and barely greens but not enough that you taste it. I felt like these were under rated. Giving too much gas and not living up to the hype. I order the oxtail and grits. I never had any grits that came close to mine. They were flavorful, not to thick and good. The only issue they were way too running but not too much a deal. Them oxtail (2 big pieces) was spoon tender and flavorful. I was looking for another one. Had me sucking on the bone. 10/10 for me. My sister had the fried catfish and grits. Now them were 2 big old pieces of catfish, fried hard and seasoned very well. I felt like they were over fried. I love a fried hard catfish or even chicken. But it was fried too hard that you couldn't cut it with the knife and it took away from the meat. These were some big, long, and thin catfish. So the hard you fried it, less flesh you have to eat. But overall the experience was nice. The bartender was awesome. Very helpful and polite. Even gave me a free dessert for my birthday. Which by the way, their cheesecake is a must try. I will go back give them another chance, but try something different. The chef, came out asking us how was everything. The manager, and other staff making sure we were good and I like a place that cares about their customers and ask questions. It shows that they love what they do and it's not just a job but catering to others makes them feel good. All I will say is, try it for yourself if you haven't. The place can be pricey so this won't be an everyday thing. More on a special occasion. Oh! And they had a live dj which was outside on the patio. We paid our own bill so the price I checked was based on my check not my sister's.
We love Chef Brit, a wonderful and blessed lady. She adds value to your establishment. I was there for my 64th Birthday. The ambiance was magnificent, and the staff were amazingly kind, attentive, and respectful. Customer Service was everything. Drinks are excellent. I recommend this great place, love it. Hey Chef Grit.
Finally made it out here and Tryst did not disappoint! Tacos & Tequila used to occupy the space and I loved that place. We went for brunch on a Sunday and the place got packed quickly! The southern inspired atmosphere is inviting and the mimosas are on point! You have to try the lavender mimosa!! Food was excellent; flavorful and plentiful. Definitely going back. Get there early, make reservations and check out Tryst! Two thumbs up!! 👍🏽 👍🏽
I got invited to a private party here so this was my first experience. 👍🏾👍🏾. Sophisticated Southern flavors in a contemporary dining space. We were on the patio (thankful it wasn’t too hot outside) but we walked through the restaurant. Lots of table top, bar and lounge area seating available. The music was a bit too loud for real conversations at the table. We were able to meet the owners, Josh and Bruce, which made the evening more special. The appetizers I tried were so good. Lollipop chicken, soul rolls and oxtail flatbread. The oxtail flatbread is AMAZING! Who would have thought to combine those flavors like that? So delicious. I was almost too full to eat an entree so I had the pecan chicken harvest salad. I don’t think I had every ingredient listed , but the dressing made up for that. Honey Citrus Vinaigrette is my new favorite dressing. WOW! Also, the sweet corn bread is a must have. The restaurant is located on the corner of a busy intersection. Parking is free in the garage next door.
I had an incredible experience during my first visit here. The atmosphere and food were outstanding! I was immersed in the vibe for hours without even noticing the time passing. It's truly a fantastic place! Our server, Sonny, was amazing. I came back a second time on a Saturday night and encountered Manager Grace and Emilio, who were absolutely amazing, and the whole vibe was amazing again. Definitely the spot..Came back again for my sister's 48th birthday and still had an amazing time. Grace was our server and she was outstanding considering it was a lot of us lol. Thanks 😊
Okay, now I see what the hype is about. The menu pays homage to southern while taking you to another level. The music is hype so you might not be able to have a comfortable conversation but you will bop in your seat. The collard dip is so good that we tried it on everything that we ordered. We also had the soul rolls, shrimp, asparagus and creole salmon. All dishes were plated beautifully and arrived in a very reasonable amount of time. I am going to be thinking about that dip for a minute. Everything else was really good too. We will definitely be back to try more food. There is free parking in the attached garage so that in nice also. We were too full to even think about dessert.
Our server Oscar was amazing! So accommodating and good energy. Manager was so sweet as well to give our little girl a pancake after breakfast, everyone was SO nice. Parking was easier than I thought. Food was good too! A little loud for me with the live DJ but I know that sets the atmosphere. Good music!! Great experience over all. Will be back.
Food was amazing, very different from anything I've seen before. Service was fast and very smooth. Atmosphere was extremely welcoming, everyone had a smile on there face and made an effort to talk to me and made sure I enjoyed my time from the servers, to the bartender and the chef. 10/10 will definitely be back :)
JULY 2025 - This is hands-down, one of my favorite spots in San Antonio for brunch. They always have a DJ when I come and the vibes are immaculate. My favorite dishes are the oxtails with grits. The other dishes pictured my guest tried and they enjoyed it. Additionally, they have outside seating with fans and hookah if that’s what you prefer. Most importantly, the owner is very welcoming and I like that there is seating around the tables if you just wanna chill. The bartenders and servers are also really nice and this is why I always come back. FEB 2025 - I had such a great time at Saturday brunch (lovely ambience and good music)! The oxtails were absolutely delicious—I'm just wishing the portion size was a bit more generous. Overall, everything was fantastic! One suggestion I have is to maybe have a few more staff members on hand during busy weekends, or perhaps have them be a bit more attentive. On a positive note, I really appreciated the free parking in the garage next door! The venue is lovely, and I can’t wait to come back!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ We came back to Tryst this week after a mishap during our last visit, and Carl went above and beyond to make it right. From start to finish, the experience was absolutely flawless! The food was outstanding, the service was top-notch, and Carl’s kindness and attention to detail made the night unforgettable. He treated us to our entire meal—including drinks and dessert—which was such a thoughtful gesture. We left feeling appreciated, well-fed, and eager to come back again. Thank you, Carl and the Tryst team, for turning things around in such a spectacular way!Definitely recommend
Robert was FABULOUS! He took care of our table of 7 - everyone had multiple items (including drinks) and modifications. Without physically noting our order, no mistakes were made & everyone cleaned every single plate. Food is hands-down fire! 🔥 Service is top-notch! 🏅 Atmosphere is amazing! 😍 Too bad I live in another state because I'd definitely be back. 😋👍🏾
The food at Tryst was excellent. I was a little disappointed, because a few of the items we ordered were not available. It was late in the evening so I'll cut them some slack. Did I say the food was excellent. We had the fried catfish, gumbo and collard green dip. We'll be back.
The food was great and very flavorful, and the atmosphere was fun. Service was the only issue we waited about 40 minutes after our appetizers without a check-in, so we decided to leave before ordering our main course. We’d still be open to giving it another try since the food was excellent.
We stopped in for Saturday brunch. There were tables open for the 2 hours we were there, but they told us they were completely full and we had to sit at the bar. The service was great, the drinks were delicious, and we had a great time. It's a bit pricey so it felt like a place you would only go for special occasions. There were several Birthday parties. The bloody Mary's came with a delicious strip of bacon and the espresso martinis were perfect. The breakfast potatoes were served au gratin but they needed more cooking or a different preparation. The food was decent, but I would go back for the atmosphere. The music got louder making it very difficult to have a conversation, so I would recommend lowering the music a little. And the DJ music selection was all over the place. I would recommend keeping the music upbeat as opposed to mixing in slow songs. The mood picked up every time the music was upbeat. The cheesecake and peach cobbler were both amazing though. Overall, it was a good experience and we'll be back.
