Excellent sushi. Very fresh. They had everything I wanted, sweet shrimp, fresh scallops, soft shell crab. This is my new favorite sushi bar.

Malulu is a great lunch and dinner sushi spot! My favorite roll in the samurai roll, and the poke is so good! I always get the poke bowl for lunch with spicy mayo, absolutely delicious!! Me and my husband will go for dinner as a date night and we usually try the new special rolls Kaz makes, he has had some fun ones like a Lilo and Stitch roll and I also love the Christmas and Halloween rolls! Good hot saki too! On cold days I will grab a nice hot beef udon for lunch, it really hits the spot!

The Best in the West! If you love sushi, then you must visit Malulu Sushi in San Clemente at least once in your life! Arigato, Hide-San!

We had some really good sushi here. The place is small, and welcoming. The sushi chef Hide is amazing. He knows how to put together some great fish. Such a pleasure discovering this amazing place. Service was very quick and attentive as well.

Good Sushi. Not expensive and good quality food. There’s the fake crab and cream cheese( in my opinion it’s used on cheaper sushi restaurants…)but it’s not boring , fresh, crispy. Beautiful sashimi cutter well :) I’m definitely coming back and advise anyone to pass by and try it too ;) all is made on the moment

Found it driving back home. Such a beautiful arrangement of food and very fresh. If the lunch salad is this good, you know the quality of the rest of the food will follow. Nice people too. Will become a stop on the way from now on.

Small intimate space, friendly and attentive Chef and staff. I sat at the sushi bar and had the 10pc. Sashimi. It looked so good that I forgot to take a photo. Everything was excellent. Highly recommend a visit if you’re in town, even the sushi snobs will love this place!

Got the scallops, salmon roe, mackerel, and squid sushi. Everything was fresh and delicious. The chefs and servers were friendly. I ordered a salad not knowing that is mostly spinach which I'm allergic to. My bad. they were willing and happy to change it out and make me a custom salad that did not include spinach. I really appreciate that. Such nice people!

We are on the road from LA to San Diego, we stopped by for lunch, it turned out to be a very decent sushi place :) believe it’s a family business, small place but the menu is very special, recommend the unique soy paper roll or the no rice roll, taste fresh and light :) everything we had was nice! Chef was nice, service was good!

When we searched for the best sushi place in San Clemente, Malulu Sushi came up first on the list. Good things come in small packages, right? Well, this is a small place, but it doesn't matter because the food & service are excellent. To me, service is very important!!! At Malulu, the Japanese hospitality is on full display. Then, the food came, and we realized that we had found our favorite sushi place in SC. Everything we ordered was tasty. And to our surprise, the female sushi chef made the best spicy yellow tail handroll. It reminded us of a sushi roll that we could only get at a sushi restaurant in Laguna Niguel (sadly, the chef moved to Japan). We are already planning to go back this week & bring some friends along.

Had a great meal here. By far the best sushi we’ve had in south Orange County. We ordered omakase nigiri and ended up reordering so we could try all of the different fish they had to offer. The bluefin, cherry salmon and toro were standouts but all were great. Hide (the sushi chef) prepared all of our sushi, apart from clearly knowing what he is doing he was a delight to chat to and we ended up letting him pick everything for us. I doubt we will go to any other sushi restaurant in south OC as long as Hide is there and they bring in great fish like we had today.

I needed to find a place for some takeout sushi and was thoroughly impressed with the service, the quality and the presentation. Better yet was the service and attitude of the staff... this seems like a neighborhood favorite for a reason.

Sub par quality for the sushi. Not worth the price. Judgy local hot spot. If you're not recognized or acknowledged by staff they will attempt to get you the check early by speaking japanese or signaling to waitresses to hustle you out the door to make room for locals (couples) who do not make reservations who in turn expect staff to elbow you out of the sushi bar. The locals (couples) will give you dirty looks as if you're a nuisance taking up their precious space. (Talega) My time, my money ! Semper Fi ✌️

Food was ok. Problem is that when I paid. I know what I tipped on a 44$ meal. 6$ cause I round up to the nearest ten. They added more tip to the bill than what I did on the credit card recipt
