If you’re looking for the place where the East Village locals hangout then this is the place you’re looking for! Amazing atmosphere, even better friendlier service, such incredible home-brewed beer, tasty food and probably one of if not the best outdoor spaces that all of downtown has to offer. Locals love it here and you will too!
Great customer service. The bartender helped us get food past 9 pm (when the kitchen closes). We waited here mainly because the bowling alley next door was finishing an event, but we were glad we stopped by because their wings were yummy!
We shared a delicious sandwich with truffle fries- Yum! Even sharing, we both left full. The bartenders were super friendly. I wish we lived here so we could become regulars.
If you’re tired of the pretense and touristic nature of much of the Gaslamp, try Knotty Barrel. KB is an old school, neighborhood gastropub with great burgers, fries, wings, and beer. Mike Truty was with us and he went on one of his anti-ocean rants. I mean, I like the guy but who is actually _against_ the ocean? I really can’t stress the fries enough. They are thin and crispy and super delicious. Try and sit in Robbie’s section. He’s funny and cool.
Great place for drinks and food. Came after a Padres game and was served promptly. We had ubered to Downtown so we had no issues with parking. The BLT with house made chips is so good and the Knotty Burger with tater tots was made perfectly. The waitress was really nice and attentive, a really nice experience overall.
Love this place! It’s our east village spot. Excellent food options and drinks, a great outdoor venue, fun indoor bar, great service…and a fun happy hour. Monday HH was a $12 burger. See photo. If you want a single patty, I believe it’s $8….plus: They have one of the best French fries IMO.
This was truly one of my favorite places to unwind after class. The customer service here is not only extremely friendly but also welcoming and engaging. It always felt like a warm and inviting spot to relax. I wholeheartedly recommend the Knotty Barrel for anyone looking to enjoy a fun and laid-back atmosphere.
A fun sports bar with consistently great food! Def give the barbecue a try. I've been here many times and would go just for the food even if not drinking. I love coming here when I want to avoid the super packed bars in the gaslamp district, but still want the energy of a sports bar while watching a game. They also have their own brewery next door, and serve some of the beer that they brew there at the bar. Staff is always friendly. Highly recommend!
Great place to watch the games on Sunday!! Bloody Mary was on point and food was great!! We had the fried pickles appetizer and shared the Parmesan chicken sandwich with tots! (Parmesan added to those bad boys too) Great service too!! Missed pic of the sandwich, ate it up too quick. First time here and we will definitely be back!!
I’ve walked by this place on my way to the kebab shop, which is right behind it and always wanted to stop and give it a try. It looks really good. Well, I finally did it and I’m so glad I did another very favorite restaurant in San Diego. The food is amazing, or at least the food I’ve had so far by myself and with friends. All of us loved their food and are definitely coming back. Tonight’s meal is the Knotty Burger, an amazing burger, and I substitute the french fries for their tater tots, who can go wrong with tater tots when they’re done right. 😛😋. It’s the kind of place you wanna come back to to try their other stuff . Really good!!!!
Great food, great service and I loved the giant windows that make the inside feel like you’re sitting outside. My kids loved the fish and chips and the chicken tenders. I thought the fish needed more salt, but not my kids. The chicken tenders were super crunchy and good. The Buffalo sauce for the tenders was just hot sauce. The chicken sarnie was fantastic! It came with an aioli that I thought was spicy- but delicious. Burger was great too. The restaurant has partitions that help with distancing. The staff all wear masks.
I love this place! Its clean, comfortable, there's 100 beers to choose from, including their own brew, and the food is delicious. The front patio and backyard is dog friendly and there's plenty of space to roam around and explore the optional seating or play games. They're located close to Petco Park, shopping, and other notable venues.
Quaint restaurant. Good choices on the menu. Good wings, fried pickles, fish and chips, sausage and cocktails. My hiccup😔...the windows, like sliding doors, were open to the outside patio seating. It brought in a real nice breeze.😮💨 But.... If you allow smoking outside(and you have a chain smoker sitting there facing inside), and your windows are wide open to that outside patio, then smoking is allowed inside too. That nice breeze helped with that. We had to get up and slightly close the door without seeming rude. When you don't smoke the constant smell of cigarettes can be nauseating, cause a headache. (There were no other tables available to fit our party).
The Knotty Barrel is located on the corner of Market and 9th Ave in downtown San Diego. They have a welcoming atmosphere as well as a huge selection of beers and other libations. Parking is extremely limited in the area being it is downtown. We tried the Potato Chip Nachos on this trip and they were tasty. It’s a really different concept in a city full of nacho joints. Honestly I think the beer and libations selection as well as the on point service provided are the key reasons we would return. Try the Julian Black and Blue hard cider if you get the chance.
Dreadful experience from the second I walked in. The bartender was on the clock but made every effort to act as though I was inconveniencing him by expecting service when I ordered a drink. I should have turned and walked out right then as the experience continued to go downhill from there... I was waiting for a couple of friends, and once they arrived, I chatted with them for a couple of minutes. Then bartender came over to ask of we were ready for food, but we said "no, not yet" and he rolled his eyes before walking away. Later, we were able to get him away from his friends at the bar long enough for him to take our food order but then were left waiting 30 minutes for a plate of nachos he never actually placed the order to the kitchen for. He claimed it was taken off the bill, which it should have been, but then he dropped the checks (we split the bill just two ways) and he said "take a look and see if its right. Im sure it is". It was not right; he tried to make my friend pay for my drinks and appetizer. I asked him to make the corrections and he came back, still with the attitude. I looked at my bank statement today and he ran my card for another 50 dollars after closing my actual check out. I'm not sure how many guests he's done this to, but I highly recommend paying cash or checking your bank statement immediately after going to this place. I wouldn't be surprised if he over charges people's cards often.... This was my first time at the Knotty Barrel, and it was an overall disappointing experience. I would have recommended this place, because the pretzel was great and the steak salad was satisfying, but the people being staffed to work on Sundays just make this place unbearable. Don't waste your money or time. Plenty of better eateries around town, with better people to provide better service.
