In town for a conference. This place came up when I Googled Irish pubs. Don’t be put off by the flashing lights and loud noise from all the other Vegas/Nashville-like bars that crowd 5th Street in the Gaslamp district. Once you step inside, you are kind of sort of, in an Irish pub. They pour a proper Guinness. The fish and chips were top-notch. (Skip the coleslaw. I don’t think it’s made in house anyway. Probably bought from some restaurant supplier.) But the fish and chips and Guinness were awesome.
We loved this place! The first time we visited, we ordered the corned beef sandwich with chips and the potato and leek soup with bread. Both were absolutely fantastic. Service was good, ambiance was great, and price was reasonable ($37) We liked it so much, we returned the next day. We ordered bangers and mash and re-ordered the soup. The bangers tasted a little too much like breakfast sausages, but the meal was still very good I’ve starred this pub in Google Maps and will 100% return next time I’m in the area
Based on me and my wife's experiences in San Diego, this was our favorite Irish pub in downtown. We have a great time here and the bartender was super friendly and genuine. I can't remember her name, but she was Irish and it had a lot of consonants in it, lol. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area!

Me and my gf only stayed there for one drink because we were tired from the day, but the atmosphere was simply incredible. Probably the best lint of Guinness I've had in a long time, and I drink often with my rugby team. 10/10 will definitely come back next time I'm around San Diego.

We were in town for a cruise and wanted some Guinness Pints. Found this place and it was packed inside, but we found a spot outside and we enjoyed the evening just hanging out and people watching!! Will for sure visit again when I travel to SD!
Ambiance was cozy, a little loud but you are still able to have conversations. Server was friendly and so was the waiter. It was our first time in an irish place so We tried the sampler plate for my boyfriend and I. The beef shepherds pie was exquisite, hearty and savory. Could easily get it again and again. Corned beef not my fave, meat got too dry too fast and the cabbage was just ok. Now the chiken item in the sampler was a little more simple but good as well, creamy. The beef stew was more on the super savory almost salty side, it came with champ which is like mashed potatoes. Super yummy. Overall great experience. Would come here again for all of it!
I absolutely loved the ambience of this pub - very cozy and rustic. My friends and I shared several plates. I enjoyed the Irish Sampler plate which let's you try four different entrees. From that I thought the Chicken Boxty was most tasty. And I couldn't go to a pub without ordering fish and chips which were very good. I was not disappointed.
Best Irish pub I've been to in the US. Great food, beer, playlist, and atmosphere. Has the Kilkenny by Smithwick's on draught, and even total wine doesn't carry it. Food was tasty and had a great selection of it, not just standard American fare with a couple obligatory offerings. I had the Guinness beef stew (pictured), and it was wonderful. The other in my party got the lamb shepherds pie, which was also quite good. Only 2 complaints: Draught beers were suuuper expensive ($9). I can understand this for the odd imports, but for a Guinness? Also, too few mashed potatoes for my stew, although the bread on the side was fantastic, so I won't whine too much.
Traditional Irish pub. Good service and in the heart in Gaslamp San Diego. I always stop by for an Irish Coffee when in Gaslamp.
Came here on a Thursday and got a nicely poured Guinness. It was solid but nothing beat the creaminess of a Guinness from Europe. The bartender was chill though. Came here a 2nd time and we had a full dinner. We ordered the Chicken Boxty and the Shepard’s Pie. Really nice food! Also our server was an absolute workhorse!
This was our 2nd time, and the food was just as wonderful as last time. Make sure you come hungry! So many great things to try. My favorite is the Irish sampler, a little bit of everything. The fish was light & perfectly cooked (the tartar sauce with the kick of dill is how I make it at home & amazing), the bangers & mash were spot on. We completely over ate to try dessert & it was also wonderfully delicious.
Finally an Irish Pub that actually plays Irish music. While it's not every song, at least they are not alienating their atmosphere and selling out. Authentic atmosphere and great beer.

I absolutely loved it here! I'd just returned from a trip to Dublin two weeks prior, and I felt like I was back in Eire. My Bailey's coffee was a generous pour, I walked out just a bit unbalanced. (Then again I'm a lightweight.) Service is fast and friendly, and sitting outside people watching was a great way to pass the afternoon. The interior is just as it should be, cozy and a little bit dark. I'd be a regular did I live in the area. Absolutely recommended!

This Irish Pub nestled in the busy streets of Gaslamp is a perfect place to have a Guinness. Not to mention, the fish & chips are excellent, best in the city. The atmosphere is exactly what is expected for an Irish tavern
This place is great! I got the Irish sampler: beef stew, chicken boxty, shepard's pie, and corned beef and cabbage. All were lovely. Atmosphere was loud and raucous post Padres game. The staff were amazing even slammed as they were.
this place is great! we came on St. Patrick’s Day so had to pay a $5 cover but it was worth it. got seated upstairs, and the service was impeccable even tho they were busy! Nina, our server, was super sweet and attentive and even gave me a free dessert since it was my birthday :) the food and drinks are great too and it legit feels like a pub in Ireland. highly recommended and i’ll be back to try more for sure!
Mar 2025. Feeling Irish in San Diego? Light Irish music in the background. The potato soup and Shepard pie were the traditional items I ordered today along with a pint of beer. Servers were friendly and the bar had a nice visual vibe. Felt like a bar should feel and look.

Very cool atmosphere and excellent food! Our waiter was one in a long line of some of the friendliest, welcoming and helpful people we have met on our visit. Thank you! The food was incredible. This was our first visit and expectations were beat. All day Irish Full Breakfast is where it’s at. Probably a little lacking flavour in terms of the bacon and the eggs but other people I was with had a good experience with the burgers and chicken meals. Update 07/22/2023: Drive about 1.5 hours and paid $25 to park and food was not good. Presentation was horrible and food tasted as it looked. Service was ok but going to be a while before we go back.
