Another taco place where people are queuing out of the door. Always a good sign. Lots of delivery pick ups too, and it was a Sunday lunchtime. I ordered a couple of baja tacos and a pastor. I was told it would be a 25 mins wait, as they were very busy. It only took 15 mins in the end and the food was delicious. The baja was fresh, crispy and packed with toppings. The pastor was very nice too. Top tacos all round!
Heard they had the best carne asada fries and all of San Diego. so me and my buddy Vu came to check it out. fresh hot carne asada pico de gallo guacamole sour cream everything you could want on your carne asada fries and very delicious. we are not disappointed and neither will you if you come and check them out
The Taco Stand is legit. Was recommended by a front desk attendant at a hotel by the bay. The service is good. The food is great. Gotta eat these tacos standing up, with a forward lean…or sitting. Stuffed with good tasting ingredients so you’ll need a few napkins. I had the Baja, Sonoran & Al Pastor tacos. Washed it down with a cold Modelo. There is a salsa bar with plenty of options. Definitely worth a visit.
Randomly tried this place and it definitely impressed me. I just wanted a taco for a snack but ended up with a plate of tacos and it was good! The meats have a lot of flavor! Also the staff here was very friendly!
Amazing food ,the burritos are big and good price ,nice atmosphere with good music also I got a 10 out of 10 service by April. She had a huge smile and amazing energy very attractive. This is one of my favorite taco shops.
I ordered the surf and turf fries for 12 bucks portion is huge I couldn't finish the whole plate definitely enough to feed two people if your on a budget but still want to have a date night. The carne asada and and shrimp has good flavor and the hot sauce is also really good you've got so many options of sauces to choose from.i will be going back to try there California burrito
If you’re in downtown San Diego and want something quick, affordable, and honestly really good, this taco stand is worth stopping by. The tacos are flavorful without being overly greasy, the tortillas taste fresh, and the salsa actually has some good flavor instead of just heat. The people working there are friendly, the wait isn’t long, and the prices are fair for the quality you’re getting. It’s the kind of spot you try once and then think about again the next time you’re nearby. Simple, tasty, and satisfying definitely a solid go to taco stop in downtown SD.
As a San Diego native, the downtown location of The Taco Stand absolutely delivers. The food is consistently fresh, bold, and true to what great tacos here should taste like—from the perfectly marinated carne asada to the handmade tortillas and standout salsas. The service is fast, friendly, and efficient, even when it’s busy, which makes it an easy go-to in the heart of downtown. It feels authentically San Diego every time
Can’t express how much I love the food here!!! I have been missing San Diego for all those years because of the California burrito!!! The wrapping is freshly made so it’s stretchy and the beef is juicy. Everything come together perfectly and the portion is no joke! Can’t finish it even at a starving night! Also tried Al pastor and the steak taco today. The roasted pork is so good!!! The steak taco was outshined. Definitely try the Al pastor taco!
This is amazing! Probably one of the best tacos we’ve ever had. We were there on a Friday afternoon and it was crowded. It’s that good. The El Pastor tacos were awesome. Great taste tender meat and the homemade tortillas just hit it out of the park. We can’t wait till our next visit.
I have lived in the Los Angeles area most of my life and boast about the Mexican Cuisine that I have been exposed to and have enjoyed over the years, but my recent trip to San Diego's B St. " The Taco Stand", location blew my mind on how good their Tacos, Burritos, and condiments taste. My companion and I ate at that establishment for three consecutive days. What a winning team and product.
First time visiting the area. Based on others reviews I went for a late lunch. More of a fast food setup rather than restaurant style. I got the Mexican corn and one grilled fish taco. The portion size was filling as not to be over full, but if you're really hungry, two tacos would be satisfying. Tasted delicious! All the ingredients tasted fresh. In the back there's a little bar with additional toppings. The service was welcoming and friendly. Less than 5-minute wait for the food although it didn't get busy until after I ordered. In observing, it didn't look like people had to wait very long for their food. You have the option to sit inside or outside. There was a nice breeze, although there is traffic passing by but it wasn't disruptive. There's authentic music playing inside. The bathroom is very clean. And to top it all off, you get a free fountain drink if you give a Google review. I would highly recommend this establishment for authentic fresh, Mexican food.
A Must Try ! Tacos, Ok chk dis! handmade righthere tortillas, my Favorite are: Al Pastor😍 All ingredients fresh ,and plenty on d salsa bar ,I just Got some tonite and they were Bomb!! There's so any optios on the menu ,as well beer,Mexican Soda glass bottle ; of course ,hey U hungry ,driving around hit dis Spot!!
Absolutely delicious! I had the best al pastor taco and a chorizo and egg breakfast burrito whose size was WELL worth the price - easily 2-3 small meals in one. Fantastic and friendly service. Immaculate vibes (though crowded when busy on a Saturday afternoon like it was). Will be back asap!
This place really has made to order fresh tortillas for every taco and they’re not flimsy or the small street taco taco this is a proper size tortilla, and they fill it. I ordered Carne Asada and the steak pieces were thick and juicy and I also ordered Al pastor which in my opinion could’ve been seasoned a little more and was a little dry compared to Carne Asada steak but all in all it was great, they do have a salsa bar at the far back of The place but overall a good place to eat. Would go again. Also, one of the salsa was just amazing. It was very acidic and it gave a good balance to the tacos. I’m gonna include the picture in here.
I ordered Al Pastor, Baja, and fries for a side dish. They tasted so amazing. I especially love Al pastor. Very flavorful. The fish in Baja is fresh but I hope there could be more salsa inside. I put some extra and it tasted even better. Fries were amazing. Hot and fresh. I couldn’t stop to eat. The service is good. Seeing I was looking for forks, one man stepped forward to help. That was really nice.
This place is amazing. They have a chipotle sauce that Perez well with everything. i'm really happy. I ended up checking this place out. You should too.

The Taco Stand is busy. We went twice while visiting San Diego and both times there was a wait, but a wait worth it! We had fish tacos, carne asada, and Nopal tacos. Everything is made fresh, …
I got the Al Pastor and Carne Asada tacos. I appreciated the options at the salsa bar, as it allowed for a personal choice for mix of bites. The tortilla was good and tasted freshly made. Overall the meat was a little dry, but the added condiments made it better. However our order took a long while to be completed, they accept a lot of online orders. Overall, would come back again.
We stopped at The Taco Stand for lunch and tried the California burrito — it was excellent: large, filling, and full of flavor. We also ordered chips and guacamole, which were very good. They offer several salsas ranging from mild to hot, so there’s something for everyone. Overall, a great lunch stop.

Seems like long waiting line does not mean good food here, just bad management. After waiting 40 mins in the Q to order, I was told it would take ANOTHER 40 mins to prepare. Everyone's waiting were very annoyed with their policy. My phone battery ran out while i waited and i requested if i could charge for 5 minutes as I needed it to get home but NOPE. Well does the food blow your mind? No. The veg tacos were very average. The only good thing here were the sauces. Save your evenings folks!
