This place rocks order as you go on tablet. Chicken katsu is amazing 7 bucks two sticks. Ok now the spicy garlic pork bone ramen is too notch no cap ;) also they have good spicy mustard
I always talk about theirs places that give you great portions of food and thats not what this place is but a place that true elegance comes in the form of a plate . The quality of the food has surpassed the standards of what most consider excellent.
Amazing food, really good beef yakitori and ramen. Great service too. Dined in a second time, got the tonkatsu curry, it was really good. Extremely crispy breading, tender pork. Equal portions rice and tonkatsu, with a little less curry than average. All in all a great meal. If you want a well priced curry with great tonkatsu, this is the place to be. Cheap beer too
The best yakitory I've found in the US so far Just like in Japan the restaurant is set up for single eaters of groups. The flavor and food always take me back to adventuring across Japan. It's so good my wife and I have to mark on the calendar when we go because we blow so much of our food budget here. So worth it!
This restaurant offers the best hidden gem experience on convoy! My girlfriend has been to Japan and always reminds me that the vibes are spot on with what you would experience overseas. Fast service, good quality, and the atmosphere is intimate, perfect to connect and have an awesome memory there!
Came here cause the line and wait at Menya Ultra was absurd! Was not disappointed and found my new favorite ramen joint! The spicy miso was so good!! Flavorful and good portion! Tried the wings as well and they were delish
Yakyudori in Convoy is one of my favorite spots when I crave Yakitori. It’s great because they stay open until midnight. We ordered pork and chicken katsu, steamed and fried dumplings, fried chicken with stir-fried rice, yakitori bacon and asparagus, and chicken gizzards. I miss the food and the place. Even when we’re a group of six and it’s late in the evening, they’re still open. Although the bathroom isn’t very clean late at night, the servers are nice and the atmosphere is awesome!
We were a party of 3 and went last Friday night around 6 pm. They don’t take reservations, and it was busy. We waited over 30 minutes. They don’t have a waiting area and it was very cold outside. They don’t allow drinks inside. I wanted to buy a hot drink from Starbucks next door to warm up but didn’t want to dump an expensive drink because we will be seated. There is a waiting list that we put our name with phone number. The front host was very nice. We ordered our items on an iPad and it is easy. The ramen is very tasty and my tempura soft shelled crab was delicious. Our server was efficient.

Great spot with quick service since you order on an iPad. They have a ramen challenge and $1 beer if you follow their ig. Great skewers and going back for the ramen

We came here for lunch and really enjoyed all the skewers. The chicken heart was good but lacked seasoning. My favorite is the beef tongue.
Food was plenty and flavorful. Had the Miso Ramen with extra egg, extra corn and thick noodle. I would have given them a 5 star if they did t charge $1 extra for lemon wedge for my water and the server’s actually took my order instead of doing it myself on an I-Pad. I understand the new generation and tech today but then don’t expect a 20% tip then.
The franchise Japanese cuisine restaurant at the local area. The dining area is small while there are tables for groups and bars for individuals. There are rice bowls and ramen as main course while offering several kinds of Yakitori options. Tried the beef tongue as it is somehow expensive. The Asparagus with bacon wrapped is great! The Uzura should be taken before it cools down. I chose wanton men as my main dish as there would be both ramen and pork dumpling inside. One thing to mention is to wear the clothes of Padres during the game time to enjoy special beer. Also they have a Ramen challenge to finish ramen in 2 minutes and get it for free.

Ordered salt and pepper wings, tuna poke, pork neck shio, harami beef, nasu (eggplant) with miso glaze, beef with radish ponzu. Salt and pepper wings had a good crunch but was bland. I ordered ponzu (extra $1 which is crazy) to eat with it which helped. I would never get poke at a yakitori place but my husband wanted it — it was not good, I don’t recommend it at all. The pork neck shio was very tasty. The beef with radish ponzu tasted like the harami beef topped with radish, ponzu and scallions — good but I wish I knew it was the same beef or we would’ve ordered only one of them. The sauce on the nasu with miso glaze was really good, but the eggplant was so oily. It tasted like it was fried and soaked up all of the oil. Overall the meat yakitori was good, but everything else was meh. It’s also not very clean - there was food on the floor of our table and the bathroom looked like it survived a frat party. I really hope their kitchen is cleaner than what their customers have to deal with.
The chicken wing looks a bit raw. When asked about it, the waiter said it should be cooked because they fry it twice. Sensing I wasn't convinced, he offered to do a one-to-one replacement of the chicken wing. I still paid the tips though! The other food items are still great as before. I just wish the staff would care more.
We got the Garlic Tonkotsu Ramen, the Wasabi Karaage, and the Pork Katsu Rice Bowl. The ramen was ok but nothing special (though the chashu was good), the wasabi karaage was interesting but neither the wasabi flavoring nor the karaage was my favorite, and the pork was ok but too tough and dry. Overall, everything was solid, but it didn't really excel in anything (we've had the yakitori at the sister restaurant Hinotez and it wasn't amazing either). Since it wasn't that cheap, and there's so many good places in Convoy, I think your time would be better spent elsewhere. The restaurant Chopstix seems to be a better implementation of this menu concept.
Update: my next few visits were so-so. Greasy tablets, sticky surfaces, food wasn't as great as my first few times, servers seemed apathetic, etc. One of those places where you can get an "authentic" (without sounding pretentious) izakaya experience - very good service and order delicious, actual Japanese food - not "fusion" trash - and drinks from a tablet.
The grill is now electric and the yakitori is just not the same any more. The meat is still tender and flavorful, but there's no char on the skewers and they come out looking like they were steamed. Also, the ramen salad dressing tasted watered down this time and the cherry tomatoes aren't cut in half. Overall, it feels like a lot of cost cutting and lack of passion for food at this venue. The white fluorescent light over the grilling area doesn't help either. I do love their useful digital menu system though. I would not recommend anyone coming here for yakitori. Coincidentally, Yakyudori's sister restaurants Taisho and Hino have better options. This place is more of a standard diner now, which is already covered by their other sister restaurant, Hinotez. Previous review: Just had one of the most satisfying meals I’ve had in a while: grilled roasted pork (a little dry), pork and shiso with plum sauce skewers, chicken hearts and gizzards skewers (juicy and has a nice bite to it), marinated egg plant (very flavorful), wagyu patty bun (the best part of all, so freaking good), and some kirin and sapporo @ Yakitori Yakyudori. Awesome!

I have been coming here for the past eight years and I have always loved the ramen and service. The pork neck skewers and spicy tonkotsu ramen have always been a beloved favorite. On our recent visit, we were very upset to have to wait 25 minutes for a meat and rice dish, even though we were told by the servers that it takes 10-15 minutes. We were also one of the first ones when it opened, so the reason they used of “dishes being backed up” was not very believable. The dish still came cold, and even though we shared our concern twice nothing was done about it.
Came here to do their ramen speed challenge. The server told me that they would let the ramen cool down for a minute and then when a different girl who had been giving me nasty looks since my dau…
