My favorite downtown cafe in SF. My staff and I go here everyday and the drinks, food, and customer service are always on point. It’s a one woman show most of the time and she’s always back there crushing it!

Cafe Dolci is a "must-add" to your financial district lunch circuit. All the sandwiches rock, but the classic grilled pork banh mi is a cut above the rest! And with the nicest proprietor in SF, you'll walk away both full and smiling.

I never leave reviews but the banh mi here was so good I went twice during my three day stay in SF- once was just so I could take it home. The owner was so sweet and remembered our orders from the first time !

This place is a hidden gem. The exterior is unassuming but warm and has a human touch that is present in every aspect of this restaurant. The proprietor was kind and responsive, asking about how I wished for my order to be made, and showed patience as I reviewed the menu. I ordered a teriyaki chicken meatball banh mi, in a roll of freshly baked bread. The crust of the bread and the snap of the carrots gave the sandwich textural complexity, and the freshness of the vegetables offset the rich meat and sauce. I also ordered the Vietnamese Iced Coffee, which balanced bittneress and sweetness perfectly.

It’s not fair having to rate “Atmosphere” for a literal “hole in the wall” takeout sandwich spot. That being said, this spot is still kind of a SECRET, but it seems not for long, as the lines keep getting longer. I roam the city for a living, and therefore know where all the best spots are for great fast food; this place is no doubt in my TOP 3 for BEST BANH MI in SF, and #1 for the FATTEST most loaded banh mi sandwich. I’m bad at keeping secrets.

I was encouraged by all the other reviews here to try Cafe Dolci, and I must say I was not disappointed! True to what other reviewers said, the food is delicious and very reasonably priced, the coffee is strong, and the service is warm and hospitable. There were even some free apples and apricots which were grown in the owner’s garden. I strongly recommend the bacon/egg/cheese sandwich on the English muffin! I will definitely be going back.

I’m from Chicago, so I can’t say I’m used to having the greatest Vietnamese food on the planet. But this was one of the best banh mis I’ve ever had! It’s a small newsstand-looking spot, but somehow churned out nothing but good stuff. Vietnamese coffee was also great. And the woman behind the counter (perhaps the owner?) is just lovely. Excellent service. Definitely give this place a shot over the other coffee spots in the area.

Excellent Bánh mì sandwiches! The grilled pork (with added pâté) is one of my favorite lunches. Fast, friendly, and good value (takeout-only, but the nearby Yerba Buena Gardens has benches and tables).

It's no wonder I find myself here almost every Monday to Friday, drawn in by the irresistible charm and unbeatable quality. This place is truly a pillar in SF, and I'm endlessly thankful for its presence in my daily routine

The store owner is very sweet and has a great relationship w regulars. The special combo Banh mi so hits. You get a good portion and for out of towners, the area is safe to walk to. Ps - it is a grab and go. No seating here.

The Combination sandwich is devine!!! It has steamed pork, generous pate and cheese head. So, so good. One of the best banh mi I have ever had. Larger than normal sandwiches that are totally worth the stop. I ate half for breakfast and had the rest for lunch. Absolutely delicious.

Total hole is the wall Banh Mi place. Run by a nice couple who are very nice. The sandwiches are good and reasonable priced. I usually get the grilled pork banh mi and it's pretty good. No place to eat as it is the size of a closet. Big fan! Definitely give it a try.

When I worked in that area I would come in pretty frequently for the Vietnamese Iced coffees. Hands down one of the strongest cups of coffee I have had, that tasted well and kept me wide awake. The owners are always visible and put in great work to provide for their customers. Other than their coffees, everything else is amazing here. Can't go wrong.

If you want to talk about hole in the wall. This place would fit that definition. Run by two individuals a great place for breakfast and tasty banmi. I also like pork bun so its a nice place to grab a fix. They also accept card now so enjoy :)

Who doesn't like banh mi in the morning? They have a variety of asian bakery fare as well as bagel egg type sandwiches, and caffeinated beverages of all types. Crucial in the mornings. And as the name suggests the service is sweet.

Amazing Vietnamese ice coffee and yummy breakfast sandwiches! The person who works there is nice. They work alone so be prepared to wait 5-10 min for your order.

A little pricey for a bahn mi, but kinda makes sense considering the location. People who work there are really friendly and the food tastes good.

Cafe Dolci is literally a hole in the wall similar to Little Saigon Deli. The primary differences are in the sides offered (I like the Chinese sausage stick rice!) and the variety of drinks including a fresh mango tapioca drink. * Grilled Pork Banh Mi - 3.5 STARS ($4.35): Airy crispy bread, pretty standard grilled pork, and a generous amount of thick cut pickled radishes. I enjoyed the sandwich more than the banh mi stand on Market near the Ferry Building, and more than Little Saigon. I prefer the flavor of Saigon Deli (and pretty much any other Banh Mi place in TL). The only other nearby option I've tried that is better is Soup Junkie (chicken banh mi is so tasty and gigantic!), but the price is about double. * Chinese Fried Rice - 4 STARS: This sticky rice side is topped with a generous portion of sliced chinese sausage (lap cheung). I liked it alot, and while it's not the best I've had (ahem Koi Palace), it's a pretty good side dish you can't really find elsewhere in FiDi. * Mango Tapioca Shake: I didn't get to try this but it's made of fresh mangoes. I LOVE MANGOES! I would return just to try this drink. It's not a destination if you are in search of the best banh mi out there, but an overall solid choice for lunch if you're looking for cheap Viet and a variety of sandwich, rice, spring roll options.

Get here early for lunch to get a delicious Port Banh Mi – be warned, the spicy is really spicy! The spring rolls are very tasty as well and generally sell out.

Vegetables weren't cut finely enough, too much spicy sauce and not enough of the other flavours. Pork was boring, not enough coriander, and no mayo (at least, I couldn't taste any). Doesn't taste anywhere near as good as a pork roll from a proper Viet eatery. At least the bread was ok. Would not go again.
