Loved the friendly neighborhood vibe and interior decor. Inhaled my food after yoga. Ate at the bar and appreciated that my bfast sando was cut in half and my crumb cake was warmed. Will come back.
Easily the best café in San Francisco! Coffee Roastery isn’t just a coffee shop—it’s a whole vibe The moment you step in, you’re greeted by the rich aroma of expertly brewed coffee, a warm and inviting space, and a playlist that just gets you. Whether you need a cozy spot to work, catch up with friends, or just enjoy a quiet moment with a top-tier cup of coffee, this is the place Now, let’s talk about that coffee—absolute perfection.Every sip is smooth, bold, and crafted with serious skill. No bitter aftertaste, no weak shots—just pure, flavorful goodness. And the pastries? Dangerously good. Consider yourself warned. Massive shoutout to Rose and San—the heart and soul of this place. Their passion and attention to detail make every visit special. They’re not just serving coffee; they’re creating a community, and it shows. If you haven’t been here yet, stop what you’re doing and go. Coffee Roastery isn’t just a café—it’s a San Francisco gem. Highly recommend!
Really good, barista was sociable and atmosphere was great! Coffee was bold and just what we needed!
I absolutely adore this place! I've been a loyal customer for over a year now. The coffee is consistently delicious with a wide variety to choose from, and it's always fresh. Rose and San are incredible; their warm greetings brighten my mornings and make me smile without fail. Thank you (Addy)
If you like coffee, you’ll love this place. Had their cold brew black and can’t get over how smooth it was. The sweet and full body flavor was incredible. The icing on the cake (or maybe more appropriately breakfast pastry) is the beautifully decorated environment, the friendly service and the breakfast food! The other thing that stood out is how many of the customers who came in are clearly regulars which is always a good sign.
We were visiting from NYC so we know good coffee. The staff here is as amazing as the coffee and pastries. Highly recommend if you’re in the area.
The coffee is amazing but I feel like they hate me
Hung out on a rainy Saturday afternoon at Chestnut street with my boyfriend and got coffee and crumb cake. The crumb cake was delicious and the place is very spacious, quiet and has two fast wifi networks. The workers were also really nice and served us very quickly. This is a great place to go in the Marina if you're looking for a non-chain coffee store with delicious coffee and room to hang out!
Great tasting coffee with excellent service! Perfect coffee stop for a day in the Marina
SUCH amazing coffee in this mom and pop shop! Highly recommend stopping here where you're in SF!!!!
This is such a beautiful cafe and it looks a bit like the cafes from where I‘m from in Europe. The crumble cake is amazing and the server was really nice, he even offered to warm the cake up for me. The only minus was that the food wasn’t served on regular plates but on like a paper thing.
A wonderful place for coffee, breakfast food and hospitality. Rose and San go the extra mile to make sure you feel part of the Roastery Community. The Roastery on Chestnut is a very special place in the Marina District to meet friends, have down time alone or just take out a great cup of coffee. I cherish my time here and give it the highest recommendation.
Best coffee in the Marina. Best beans, best espresso, local owners who are also the best!!
This coffee shop is located several streets down the marina and offers a variety of international coffees. I ordered an Americano and Sofi was very nice. The coffee was robust, aromatic and full of flavor. The interior was decorated as though you were stepping into little Italy. Very good in price! Check them out✔
Coffee roastery with great vibe. The coffee was delicious, and they had a lot of bakery options as well. We ordered two burritos, and they are all very tasty. The store is very spacious, but it gives a mama&papa store feeling. Good for hanging out with friends or just working from there. Service is very friendly also.
Nice comfortable coffee shop, spacious and accommodating. Good Americano and baked goods. Seems family owned. Very nice people working there. Why patronage corporate places when these one off spots are around?
Very nice place. The decoration is awesome and both workers are really nice. If you’re around it is a great place to have breakfast
Very good coffee. The cafe roasted their own coffee bean. It is very interesting that cafe opened by non western. Their coffee is one of the best in this area. The chocolate latte is interesting, very similar to mocha, but with chocolate form on top. I can see their coffee bean roasting process in store as well. The begal also very good. This cafe consider medium size. Very quick and friendly service. Majority of tables are clean. Customer had 2 hours limit seating, but very relax cafe. Accessible by public transport.
The owners are extremely friendly, each baked item has its own unique character with just the right level of sweetness, and the coffee is also of excellent quality.
Yes! Love this place! Nice staff early in the morning. Black coffee and plain toasted sesame seed bagel. Ummmmm…….
The best coffee I’ve had in the entire USA —rich, smooth, perfectly balanced, and full of flavor. It reminded me why I love slow mornings and beautiful places. Absolutely unforgettable!☕
We visited the place in February 2025, We arrived just after the closing of the door, but the staff still welcomed us so we could buy coffee for our aeropress. If in Europe we often think that the coffee has bad reputation in the US, this shop proved that there are quality beans roasters, presented with love and care. We picked two variants as recommended and both were incredible. The coffee was traveling with us during our road trip until the Grand Canyon. Highly recommend !
First of all the roasters has a great vibe to it. Clean interior and clean bathroom. The staff was friendly and considerate with us and the guests we saw while there. They make sure we're attended to and that we enjoy our coffee. The chocolate cafe latte was rich and creamy. The New York crumble cake was moist and warm, it was delicious!!
The bacon, egg and cheese bagel is delicious. Great atmosphere and customer service. The shop is family owned, you’ll see an Asian couple and their son working the counter. Rose is very sweet and definitely feels like the neighborhood mom.
Okay I did not love the coffee here but the people who run it are so nice and the atmosphere is so comfortable I had to give it 5 stars. There's plenty of other things on the menu if your total coffee snob :-) they also have a decent selection of pastries. I like that they seem to know all of their regulars names and orders are ready. Seemed like a good place to sit and study for a while.
Iconic coffee in mom & pop family business. A pillar of the neighborhood. High quality beans ethically sourced from farmers around the world, and timely roasted on-site . Respectful and engaging counter service experience, and apparently local regulars are enthusiastically greeted. Wooden chairs and tables inside and on the sidewalk. Also some pastries. Affordable luxury Brings vibrancy to Chestnut Street.
Family owned and so lovely in here! The prices are phenomenal for what you get. I loved my breakfast sandwich! The eggs were so fluffy! I had the ice Vietnamese coffee and it was made to perfection! The staff was very personal too! You can tell they value their customers and they seem to know all their regulars ☕️
Excellent place to work. Cozy enough and pretty space, convenient with chargers all along the wall and good wifi. Fairly empty all morning and afternoon so I didn't feel bad taking up a table. Crumb cake was amazing as was the hot chocolate. Staff are super nice. It's clearly a regular spot for a nearby office or apartment and there was lots of friendly chatter about families and coworkers saying hi. Great atmostphere.
Wonderful coffee shop with great vibe and service!!!
Delicious fresh roasted coffee. The mocha is amazing. I had it 2 days in a row! Love the area. Close to Kara's cupcakes, ❤ the gorgeous flower shop Fiori and a wonderful deli. Then there was this beautiful old theater across the street.
This place is a true gem. They make a quite tasty Flat White. Great atmosphere and friendly, fast staff to get you through that big ol line and get you your cup of Joe as fast and as delicately as they can.
Iced mocha is fantastic. Chocolate does not overwhelm the aroma and flavor of espresso. Sausage muffin is one of the best that I have ever had. The staffs are so nice and welcoming.

People seem to really like this place. There was a line out the door when I got here. There's nothing special about the espresso here. It's subpar at best. The only other options on this street are Starbucks and Peets which must be why there's a line out the door here. The owner is great though. He table touches... at a coffee shop. That's so extra.
Nice cafe shop with good atmosphere. Came hear to work. They limit the tables for 2 hours. It is nice if you want to spend time with your family or friends. But it is not ideal for working. Of course good coffee! And ok pastry options.
Mediocre qnd the older lady working there is a bit rude, they also close at 2pm daily. Ordered a cappuccino and it tasted very basic, the milk was not frothed well. The space is nice and large and tables are easy to sit and work at.
Decent coffee but nothing extraordinary. The roast quality is fine, though some blends feel a bit flat. That said, the local vibe is great—cozy space, friendly staff, and a nice spot to hang out. Worth a visit if you’re in the area, but not a must-try.

Lovely location with a great interior, I gave it 2 stars bc the food was microwaved and the coffee was made incorrectly. Most of the food prepackaged and putting prepackaged food with adhesive stickers on is a horrible mistake. Even Starbucks removes the wrapping before warming food. Trying to unwrap the food was disgusting, the adhesive was melted on. Totally not worth the price for the mediocre service. There is no parking for this location and bathrooms are not allowed for customers.
A great space that the managers are not taking advantage of. 🥶 The door is left open, so the place is freezing cold. Everyone in there is bundled up looking really uncomfortable. Not a place where you want to eat. Just grab a coffee and go. 🛎️ Surly service. The server was as cold as the space. 🎶 The lack of background music rounded out the cold atmosphere. 💸 It’s a great location and big space, so rent must be sky high. Which shows in the prices. The owners are leaving revenue on the table and the community is missing out on a potential third space. A real shame.
This was within walking distance from my hotel. I noticed many people in line, so I assumed the coffee was good. Ordered 2 medium vanilla lattes with almond milk, $16. It was disgusting, we threw them away. Something was off, almost as if the milk had gone bad. Sour taste is how I would describe it.
Is there a negative star available? This place should be called the 'i can't do that' cafe...glad I didn't give them my patronage. ...Reveille across the street much better! Go there! 😁
