Great little hangout with a good selection of beers, bar food, and friendly service. The onion rings are really good and crispy. The nachos are good but not great -- the top half is great but the bottom gets really soggy. They have lots of great outdoor seating, but it seems to get full sun in the afternoon (when there is sun in the city) during the summer months.
The location is fantastic. The room is large and spacious. The tables are comfortably distributed. There are a ton of seating options (tables, banquette, bar, outdoor). The menu is pretty standard. The staff is friendly and fun. Also, DRAAANKS!
Cool little dive bar on the San Fran water front. They serve your basic bar food that was decent and have some of the most reasonably priced beer that i had in the city.
Great staff super friendly waitresses and great food a cool place to be during a game
Always a great place for delicious bites, drinks and views! On your way to the Giants Ballpark or a simple stroll along the Embarcadero Waterfront, Hi Dive is the spot to check out! Great service and they even remember my drink! (go figure) I tried their fish tacos, simply divine. You can also catch some Giants on their TV screens. Wonderful establishment.
A true dive bar. I'm really glad I got to experience it during my visit to San Francisco. The drinks were amazing, the music as well. We all had a really great time. It's worth mentioning that the finger food was way better than I would have expected. I'll be back here next time I'm in SF
Great bar right on the water! The atmosphere is laid back and they serve a variety of food and drinks. There prices are a bit higher than a typical dive bar, but the service reflects it. Additionally, they offer private spaces for a very reasonable price. I had my company's Christmas party here and it worked perfectly for a price that was much lower than most bars in that area.
Erica was very accommodating to my wife’s gluten-free questions, And the best customer service Ive had in a long time.. will be back for more drinks before the game!
A SOMA institution! Have been going here semi-frequently for years with teams and it’s always a hit. Went a week ago with coworkers and the fries and drinks are always on point. Had some awesome aperol spritz, palomas, and fries. Bloody marys are also on point from past visits.
Nice little bar to break the walk up around the pier. Bar man was really friendly.
Fantastic location, nestled just about on top of the bay a short walk from Oracle Park. Great menu, especially the fried stuff. Delicious fish & chips plus some of the best French fries in the city🍟 - chose sweet potato or regular. Can get LOUD, so be prepared to yell at your table mates. Parking lot next door is overpriced - take Muni or use meters.
Great place to sit by the water and have some drinks. Staff is super friendly and the drinks are awesome. Food was good but nothing I’d write home about. Has an awesome patio to lounge outside. Worth a visit.
Great place to meet friends and catch up?
Great dive bar in a cool location. It can get a little crazy when there are giants games happening, but otherwise it's a quieter spot to grab a drink with coworkers or friends after the work day. Food is decent enough for bar food. Staff is all friendly, especially for a downtown SF establishment.
Went after a game, was very noisy but the waitress was awesome, food was great.
Check out their happy hour menu. Good food, good prices.
Great spot for happy hour or late night drinks. The staff is super friendly!! Great service!! They even have some pretty yummy foods, given I was usually pretty drunk when eating here but the fries and the nachos are pretty great! You have nice views of the bay bridge from inside also and it's close to the financial district
Small place with cool views of the bay.
Great turkey bacon ranch sandwich, good drink options. Good place to eat before the Giant's game
Dive bar with a view! If you want a chill dive bar, this is a fantastic place. The food is OK and they've got plenty of drinks. You can get a pleasant view of the water, too. The staff is super friendly and good at their jobs. I will happily come back.
Classic SF establishment great for happy hour or a drink before a Giants game! Friendly service, great chicken wings and patty melt.
Super friendly bartender. Food was great. Nice beer selection. Great views of the bay. Always great.
Love this place! Came here a couple of hours before the Giants game for drinks and it is now my go-to! Cheap drinks, fun wait staff, great views and atmosphere over all. I will be coming back! :)
Great regulars, great bartenders and servers. Great food. Only busy on game days and concerts at the stadium. Collect their 5$ and 10$ tshirts for as souvenir or just a quick fresh shirt on a long hot day.
The servers are very friendly; they bring a bowl with fresh water for my canine companion and they make you feel at home during the pandemic. Food is great and you feel relaxed while sitting on their patio. I come here almost everyday just because their customer service is outstanding and me and my dog really appreciate it. Thanks, Hi Dive!
We come here before every single Giants game we attend. Our server (Christal, i think her name was) was so sweet and so pleasant. Great prices and great location. A great part of our tradition:)
There is no place better than the Hi-Dive on a sunny day. The outdoor patio is a lovely spot for a drink. Get there before the baseball game ends! Or go on a day without a game! The staff was great, had good wine recommendations, and the service didn't change when it got super busy. Can't wait to go back.
Amazing dive bar! Bartenders are great, nice and lively. Great variety of beer and spirit options here. Highly recommend visiting if you're a down to earth person that's looking for a chill drink with a nice view
Great no-frills post office hangout spot ! Drinks and service are good. Like the outdoor seating for summers.
The staff here is so welcoming and kind, especially the lovely lady working the bar this afternoon! They are great at multitasking making everyone feel seen and valued. I've been to Hi Dive Bar for a few years now and without fail have always had a good time.
Great place, great prices for SF, and warm friendly service. We arrived in SF yesterday, noticed when we drove by, and had wonderful comfort food dinner (chili, fish & chips, and house special burger). Everything freshly prepared, excellent quality, drinks were very fairly priced, and Elaina was on top of the table service and welcoming. Our new hang out.
The name says it all. Large outdoor space for gatherings, talking, or falling down. Excellent cocktails and superb snacks.
Good solid brunch. Wait staff very nice. Enjoyed our experience!
Best view !! Bloody marys are good, if your like me , like little old cool bars this for you and you have the view of the bay on gift
While the conceit is that this is a dive, it’s not really. The staff are fantastic, the food is really good and the drinks are great. There’s a decent sized patio when the weather permits, and lots of seating inside with bay views when it’s not. This place is a real local gem.
I remember the first time I stopped by here was 5 years ago when I first moved to sf and then again last week. Love when the place in such an evolving keeps the same vibe. Bartenders are a joy, we enjoyed some well crafted dirty martinis while watching the 49ers game and taking in the waterfront views. Oh and their fries are to die for! A true S.F. staple :)
Hi Dive Bar is a great local spot right near Oracle Park that's a staple of the community. From the outside it looks like this weird hodge podge of a building but once you get inside you know it's thise sweet dive bar plus restaurant inside and out. They have a good amount of seating, probably around 3 dozens tables and a bar area. Their prices are normal for the area woth portion sizes being the same, but taste of things like the fish tacos are really good. The staff are always running around being so friendly and trying to get you what you want. Would recommend coming here after any game for sure.
Tried this place cpl Sunday’s ago.. Sunday morning, I had breakfast sandwich... yum yum. The scrabble egg was fluffy, light, great taste.. And good size sandwich, it was big enough to split between the two of us.. I’ll try lunch next time.. Also nice Cold beers. And the gal working that morning.. 👍🏽 great service, any thing we needed, she was on it. Even before we asked... And she was very friendly! I’ll be coming back next time I’m in San Fran. I recommend this place for sure!
We visited from out of town. In SF for a Giant's game and show. Came here both nights....my wife and I love bars....we have been to a LOT of bars...(35+ years of adventures together) and this is easily in the top 3 coolest bars we have been to all time! I will leave it there...you just have to go see for yourself...thanks again rad crew at Hi Dive!
As good as a remember it. All decked out for the holidays. Fun holiday drinks delivered in festive glassware and mugs.
A wonderful spot for a burger or fish taco and a beer before a GIANTS game. Great pregame enthusiasm for our local fans!!!
A San Francisco institution! Perfect place to pre-game for events at Oracle or Chase. The food is decent. I love their calamari. Good drinks and the view of the bay bridge is excellent.
Great outdoor seating on the water! Perfectly situated for people watching our before a Giants game. The food is also good too. This is a go to spot especially for lunch and brunch. Sitting inside at the tables or bar is also highly recommended.
Went here for a pretty match game. Great beers, food and atmosphere.
Walked by on my afternoon stroll with my dog. Bartender was very friendly. I ordered an Aperol Sprits and a side of fries. Drinks and food were a 10/10, highly recommend. Side note ( bartender brought my dog a bowl of water and was very kind to my fur baby).
This is a San Franciscan's classic bar. I love the vibe of this place. I've been here in the summer, but there is something different about the winter. Their bar food gets the job done and the drinks are reasonably priced. The holiday drinks are Devine. I would say get there on a less busy night cause this place will get poppin. 4.7 out of 5 fo sho
Love this spot. Great for a beer after the game. Solid burgers too. Definitely a go-to spot if you are in the area.
Great local pub, and it’s on the water so tough to beat. The staff are friendly and seem to know a lot of the folks that come through, speaking to its local following. Solid food offering for a pub, definitely ask for their bbq sauce (with just about anything).
Our first time and we LOVED!! Food, drinks, and service were outstanding! A definite must try! We will be back! P.S. park on the street!
The buffalo wings were some of the best I had ever tasted and for sure the best in cali! Served proper, they have the tang, flavor and spice that is definitive of the world's greatest appetizer!
The Hi Dive bar is a mainstay location on the Embarcadero. A stroll away from Oracle Ball Park and also San Francisco Marketplace. It has many tables inside along with an inviting patio. Along the bar is also both entertaining and very busy. Impressive services and awesome happenings from great clientele, good food and friendly staff, the experience is like no other bar on the waterfront promenade. Highly recommended for a retreat or break front all the activities on the waterfront. Good times had.
I meant to post this review earlier but Hi Dive is a great bar with a great location and great people. They are situated in a prime spot along the Embarcadero with both indoor and outdoor seating and it’s the great place to grab a casual drink and some bar snacks. Also, I have to give them a shoutout. Despite being a local, my phone was stolen out of my hand right outside by Pier 28 and they were so gracious and warm to let me use their landline to get my bearings. I’ve always had a lovely experience here and recommend it as a great spot for a happy hour
We like stopping here on the way to the Ballpark before a game. The waitresses there are so nice. When its busy, they have to run back and forth, so it might take an extra minute. Be prepared. But that's just when it's busy, they are attentive and friendly. The food is basic. Not great, not bad. Drinks are decent. Wine selection is good. Nice to sit inside and look at the view of the water. But also nice to sit outside on a nice day and take in the ocean air, sunshine and people watch. Definitely a place to check out.
It's great place to visit. Food is great here. I went here during Fleet Week, place was pretty busy. The outdoor patio has great view of the pier and the bay and also city sky scrapers. Great to sit outside on a sunny day to enjoy your drink and appetizers. Highly recommend this place.
Came here to watch the giants game and loved it. My second time here. The bar tenders are super friendly and halfway comedians. Couldn't think of a better place to be. Great drinks and views. Nothing I could say bad about this place. Karina! And Julie are a must if I come here. the best ever Bartenders.
Amazing views of the bay and Oakland. Nice little bar, the beer selection could be better. Otherwise a nice spot, gets busy with the after work crowd
It is a dive bar with dive bar atmosphere and great service but just as expensive as any bar and restaurant in town that is a tourist trap. Used to be an after-work happy hour place.
Had a burger and a drink with friends here. Note that it’s not the best place to come for a conversation as their music is pretty loud even in the early evening. But the burger was tasty and the service was good. Location is also nice as it’s on the water, but one downside is you don’t have views of the water.
Located right on the Bay across the Embarcadero, this dive bar seemed to be a very popular place for people in the neighborhood. They have a decent beer selection and the cocktail list seemed to be pretty extensive. When I was here I had a nice bacon cheeseburger which was pretty tasty. The views are the coolest thing about this place. The windows on the back of the building face out to the water so all you have to do is turn around to see the Oakland shoreline. They had Giants gear all over the place which leads me to believe that during Grants game this place would be hopping. I have been here twice, both times I have enjoyed the time immensely
The clam chowder was really good. The crispy fish was okay. Definitely grab a Hi Dive shirt for $10.
What a great little spot, next to the bay and the embarcadero. The location is pretty much unbeatable in SF, right under the Bay Bridge. Watching people, People watching with a cold one. Food is great and beers are on point. Staff is super friendly. Park your bike and lock it where you can see it, bring your dog.
Fun bar by the bay to sit down, grab a bite or drink before a giants game! Came here prior. Not as packed this season but still a lively crowd. Outdoor area could've been managed better.
Love this long-time SF bar. Server was attentive and pleasant. Great place to stop b y before or after a SF Giants game. Nice view of the Bay. Street parking.
A bit on the more pricey side for a dive, but it's SF. French fries are really good. Embarcadero kitchen hours make this place average, but the staff is excellent and super friendly, so that makes up for much of everything else. It gets crowded around happy hour during the week, but otherwise it's a good option.
Finally, back to the Hi-Dive, I can't count all the great time I have had here, if you get a chance get the Calamari, it is always a winner here, followed by many pints of your favorite beer and cocktails. I am so very happy the Hi-Dive is open and walking distance from BART and the ballpark
Hi Dive Bar: A Cozy Spot in San Francisco Hi Dive is a bar located at Pier 28 1/2 in San Francisco. It's a great place to meet friends for a beer, especially on sunny days when you can sit outside. Hi Dive has been around since 1935. It started as a small wood-framed bar and restaurant and was once called Boondocks. It was popular with locals and tourists. As the area around it changed, so did Hi Dive. Now, it's a bright and cozy spot with a relaxed feel and great views of the San Francisco Bay and the Bay Bridge. It's also close to Oracle Park, home of the San Francisco Giants, making it a popular stop during baseball season. Many people visit for its affordable menu. Though I haven't had a full meal there, I can say their garlic and potato fries are delicious! On the day my friend visited, we met at Hi Dive for a beer and shared some garlic fries. The two ladies serving outside were very professional and friendly. We had a great time. Hi Dive also has a small indoor space with a long bar that seats about eight to ten people and a dozen tables. Hi Dive offers stunning views of the San Francisco Bay and the Bay Bridge. It has a good wine list and serves basic bar food and more. Outdoor seating is available, which lets guests enjoy their meals and drinks while taking in the beautiful scenery.
Stopped by the holiday festivities. They have some okay bites and decent drinks. Not much in the non-alcoholic department, unfortunately. There are a good amount of smaller tables around.
I came here on a Sunday night, so I can't really comment on the atmosphere. It was a really small place with a lot of tables. It's right on the water with a nice view. If your looking for a great beer selection, this is not the place for you. I think they only had 4 or 5 beers on tap, although the German Hefe was amazing. Conversely, if you're looking for a great liquor selection, this might be a good place to check out. They have tons of liquor and the bartender knows his stuff.
Local place, just by the water. Service was good, friendly server and some good options on the menu. Ordered a southwest salad, which was supposed to come with corn and mushrooms but those were nowhere to be found. Usually that is not a problem if I’m told they are out of the ingredients but nothing was communicated which is something worth noting. Grilled chicken added to the salad was ok, but a little burnt. On my reviews I try to describe whatever experience I had and based on the one I had at lunch today, I wouldn’t try the restaurant again.
This restaurant and food were just ok. The holiday decorations were cute. It felt like it was just another American restaurant. Not too bad.
Nachos were in standing bean water with like maybe 4 oz of steak and hardly any cheese. Place was packed so I didn't expect perfect service. But still it wasn't great. They snuck 20% gratuity on the check and I almost tipped them double because they did not say they did up front. Also definitely did not deserve 20%.
Extremely dirty , bartenders can’t even make a proper aperol spritz , I’ve been profusely throwing up from literally a bucket of fries. Do not go here, dirty bathrooms disgusting overall. What eve seasoning they put in there their fries absoulety disgusting or their food in general. I’ve been profusely vomiting never again!
Be careful, this bar may charge you more than you paid with your bank card. I accidentally noticed that after paying for drinks at this bar via Apple Pay, a few days later I received a transaction cancellation and a charge that was 30% higher than what I paid at the bar. Absolutely terrible service and theft!
