Kingdom of Dumpling is a small, popular spot known for its delicious and affordable dumplings and Shanghainese cuisine. The pork dumplings, soup dumplings, and red bean pancake are highly praised. Service can be inconsistent, and the space is cramped, leading to waits.

Every single thing we got here was incredible. My mind was blown. What we got, which was about one order more than we could finish as a party of four: Vegetable dumpling Pork and napa dumpling Pork potsticker Beef pancake Soup dumpling Green beans Chinese doughnuts Bean cake Note: it is a bit warm inside, be prepared to shed a layer.
Cosy little restaurant, We had the spicy beef noodle soup (pretty spicy), beef chow mein, pancake and spicy chive dumplings. Everything was very good and portions are pretty generous. The owner is very friendly and made us feel comfortable. Decently priced for the portions. We would recommend.
Best dumplings in SF so far. Home style. And their unique house hot sauce is amazing! Went back to back between this and Dumpling Kitchen down the street. This was the easy winner and even for dishes like garlic green beans. Kingdom has better looking produce, bigger portions, and soooo much more garlic and sauce. 🤤
This place is amazing! Their dumplings are absolute hit, but their pancakes are something else and they’re a perfect pairing dish! Their other items are also made fresh and great from a taste and quantity perspective. The place is a hole in a wall but it can easily sits a few group of 4. Highly recommend if you’re in the sunset/parkside area and craving some fresh dumplings!
I love that this place is open later, their food is absolutely incredible. I can't recommend the soup dumplings more. It is one of those hole in the wall places you might walk by and never notice, but it is worth the trip inside. It is no frills but friendly service. I can't wait to go back and bring more friends to enjoy their food.
My favorite dumpling spot in SF by far. Everything tastes like something my mom would make for me, which I mean as the highest compliment! Super flavorful, fresh, and handmade with love. As a bonus, their house-made hot sauce makes everything taste even better. Dumpling Kitchen next door seems to get more business, but Kingdom of Dumpling offers far better flavor and value!
Been coming here since I was a toddler. It's personally the best dumplings I have found in the Bay. You can also buy their dumplings frozen down the street. I recommend their boiled Peanut and Cucumber ( I would bathe in that sauce), the pork and napa dumplings, soup dumplings, onion pancakes, and the chow fun. Whoever gave them fewer stars because the restaurant isn't 'nice' is definitely some uptight Karen that doesn't know that the hole-in-the-walls always have the best and most authentic food!
Legit beef roll pancake and dumplings on the West Side. We my Chinese Canadian friend would say, It’s just grungy enough and cheap for real Chinese people to come and know that the food is good.
Delicious! We got the beef pancake, soup dumpling, spicy beef noodle soup, beef tendon salad, cold bean noodle and spicy wontons. All good !
It was one of our the most tasteful dumplings and dimsum we have ever ate so far. We ordered fried pork dimsum and pork dumplings with chives, with some veggies on side and it was really delicious! I also recommend to try Thai ice tea. Delicious experience and very nice evening we spent. Thank you. :)
Perfect little dumpling shop. I return to this place often. Highly recommend.
Recommended by a friend who grew up in the city as one of his staples! We loved the hole-in-the-wall ambience, the uncle cooking a mean stir fry from the biggest wok I’ve ever seen, and the delicious, authentic food. We had the string beans (a standout!), spicy beef noodle soup, pork & chive dumpling, and beef pancake (牛肉餡餅- surprised us how much we loved it). We’ll definitely be coming back!
Very friendly and welcoming staff, smells delicious as you walk in. I’m not from the area and chose this place on a whim but it was definitely the right place to go. I had the best vegetarian chow mein I have ever tried! Will definitely be coming back in the future for many more warm meals ❤️.
If you are looking for a fancy place that bends over backwards to impress you, this probably isn't your place. If you are looking for delicious dumplings, amazing egg rolls and scallion pancakes, and the best dang garlic green beans in town, this is probably your place. Seriously, get the garlic green beans, they are the only thing I get every time without fail and I never regret it.
This restaurant was so great when I was craving wonton soup. Their dumplings are NEXT LEVEL- So good!!!! It’s a charming little place, the owner created a calming and welcoming atmosphere & the foods incredible. The spot for casual dinner with a friend. Beer and jasmine tea cherry on top. Large portions, friendly close to closing time.
I never knew I liked chow mein until I ate it here
Kingdom of Dumpling surprised me in the best way. We tried delivery on a whim and it turned out to be so good. The pork and Napa cabbage dumplings were juicy with tender skins, and the Shanghai pan fried soup dumplings had that crispy bottom with rich flavor. The eggplant tofu with rice was another standout. The sauce was flavorful without being too heavy or sweet, unlike a lot of versions you get elsewhere. Garlic pea shoots were fresh and simple, and the farmer’s cucumber was cold and refreshing, though it could have been marinated longer. Together, everything made for such a satisfying meal. I have pretty high standards for Chinese delivery and am rarely impressed, but this hit. They even sell their dumplings frozen if you want to stock up at home. A random delivery experiment turned into a new go-to spot for us. Very impressed.
The eggplant dish and fried tofu are my absolute favorites: always fresh, perfectly seasoned, and super satisfying. I’ve tried the chive dumplings and string beans too, but eggplant is the star — highly recommend. The place is small and a bit cramped, with about 5–6 tables squeezed in, so it’s best for 2–4 people, not large groups. Tables can be a bit sticky, but it’s what you’d expect from a casual, affordable Chinese spot. Still one of the best for the price.
This is one of San Francisco best underrated places. The prices are amazingly pocket friendly, and the food was insanely Delicious. We had ordered dumplings, chicken, fried rice soup, dumplings, and pancakes. I love the fried rice. It was so flavourful and very comforting. The dumplings were great to, and the pancakes were loaded with meat. Definitely, this is a place which I will visit many more times in the future.
I've been coming here for years and honestly I think it just gets better with time. Services really speedy and it's actually full service which is nice. They will make you pretty much anything vegetarian if you ask.. highly recommend them making you some tofu chow mein. It was incredible. So are the garlic green beans
Yummy dumplings! I don't believe it's true shanghai style dumplings. There are some aromatic vegetables in there that are more northern style. Everything tasted handmade and fresh. It's kind of a hole in the wall place but the wait can be long since the restaurant is small. It was pretty crowded for lunch on a weekday. You know the restaurant is clean when most of the customers there are English speaking.
I was craving for some dumplings and tofu before I had back to Texas from a business trip. It was a wonderful treat, delicious! I had Pork Dumpling with Green Chives- it melts in your mouth and the flavor was balance perfect! The 2nd dish was Salt Pepper Tofu- it crispy outside and soft inside with lots of seasoning and just wow! This is the place to go to if you want a traditional dumplings and salt and pepper, tofu! Would I come back you dam right I’ll be back on my next business trip!
This felt very special. Like we stumbled into a well kept Sunset secret. Where kids who grew up in San Francisco grew up eating here, where they learned to use chopsticks, where families came after church, or to celebrate a win. These are the no frills incredible eats that we personally love. It’s a hole in the wall, family owned and operated, leave your judgements at the door and leave so full and so happy. Adding this one to our repeat spots. Green beans were easily the best of our lives. Thank you.
Small restaurant usually means excellent food, and this place is no exception! I love the thin skin on the dumplings. The red bean pancake is delectable as well. Will love to come back again.
By far, some of the best food you’ll get for the price. The dumplings where absolutely amazing along with the green beans and tofu - there are no bad options that you can go with. The restaurant is a bit small so you might have a wait but it’s well worth it.
Tasty Shanghai-style dumplings, dim sum, and pancakes. Friendly family-style service.
Tasty!! Best Beijing bean paste noodles in the Bay Area. The marinated pork elbow isn’t bad either. It sounds awful but it’s really just sliced pork, lol.

This hole in the wall is amazing! They don’t have a single bad dish and the prices and portions are fantastic. I highly recommend the soup dumplings, bok choy, lo mein, and pork & cabbage dumplings. Seating and space are a bit limited, which adds to the charm but may lead to longer waits at popular times.

I’ve checked in here so frequently to pick up DoorDash orders that it’s about time I review this place. I first ordered from here because of a BOGO promotion for their cucumber salad on DoorDash. I soon, however, got hooked on their wok fried garlic string beans and salt and pepper tofu. The food is not the most clean-tasting, but it’s very satisfying like a home-cooked meal, and the portion size for the price point is well worth it.
Came the other night with a few friends! It’s a tiny restaurant with 5-6 tables. Can get stuffy when packed especially with the kitchen just a couple feet away and one window for ventilation. Food was decent, we ordered Shanghai soup dumplings, pan fried Shanghai dumplings, napa cabbage boiled dumplings, salt&pepper chicken wings, fried chive dumplings, spicy wontons and noodles. The dough was slightly too thick for all dumplings but you can tell it’s handmade! Chicken wings were crispy but lack flavor depth. Noodles had good chewiness, sauce was a tad oily. Chilli wantons were good! I wanted so badly for it to be good because of the positive reviews. Maybe we went on an off-night but we weren’t impressed by the food? But we’re still willing to go back again if we’re in the area. Give it a try!! Was about $27-30 per pax from the food+tip.
The food is very good and the prices are also good, but be careful about the final bill. Our server did not give us an itemized bill and the total amount seemed too much for what we got. I don't know for sure if there was a mistake, but the fact is that I didn't feel ok asking for an itemized bill. The food is worth the visit... Just keep good tabs on what you ordered.
Food: 4/5 Service: 3.5/5 Ambiance: 3/5 Overall: A good place for some dumplings and noodles. Would I come back? Indeed I would. The extended review... Food: Napa Cabbage and Pork Dumplings - 4/5 - YUM! Can't go wrong with the dumplings here. I mean it's in the name for gosh sakes! Shanghai Soup Dumplings - 4/5 - Tasty and juicy...just how they should be! Beijing Bean Paste Noodles - 4/5 - A nice tasty noodle. The bean paste sauce gives the dish a different flavor compared to the soup and usual fried noodle dishes. I suggest giving it a chance. Service: 3.5/5 - Just like a typical Chinese place...quick service. Like most Chinese places they will try and turn the tables quickly! Ambiance: 3/5 - Hole in the wall but like most hole in the walls...it's good food!
Service isn’t that great. Plates, condiments (hot sauce, vinegar, etc.), and tea kettle don’t look clean. However, the food is delicious. I love the Shanghai soup dumplings and the pork dumplings with corn here!

Excellent food. However they don’t provide an itemized bill for dine-in. Last 2 times I went I was skeptical of the total, even knowing it included tax. So just be sure to double check the calculation
Their food is great but their front door is filthy with grime on a white door.. and when I mention it it goes nowhere.. so after several wonderful orders there I gave up. Simple Green in a spray bottle and a towel wipe and it would be gone. I even did a little myself one time and pointed it out. Makes this guy wonder what he’s not seeing… Every time I walk by I keep hoping they have gotten to it. As a former dishwasher, bartender, barista it’s pretty basic standard by my training and experience.. A clean door and I’m there…
This place used to be good 15-20yrs ago. Look at what type of ppl waiting for a table or the reviews IYKYK. As usual stuffy inside just like it was 10+ years ago and that made it uncomfortable to eat with the kitchen being right next to you. Mediocre xlb with the wrap being thick prices are pretty high for what it is but thats SF for you. Only reason I came again after so long was because a friend wanted to but you're better off at other places because this one is hyped just like san tung. Keep the certain demographic of ppl here though so we can keep our legit spots clear from wait times.
Came here from across the city in 2016 when it was really good. However, because the place is small and there was usually a wait, I didn’t come back until 2024. For context, the sunset is spoilt for choice when it comes to this type of cuisine (mix of northern/southeast Chinese cuisine, xlb, bao, dumplings, noodles etc), so there is a ton of competition in the area from lesser known restaurants I’ve had the pleasure of “discovering”. I live in the neighborhood so I’m rooting for all restaurants here especially since they have endured construction on Taraval for so long. However I’m sad to say that the food is extremely average. It doesn’t even look like they make their own dumplings anymore. The noodles and green beans tasted and looked like they were drowned in soy sauce. The chilli beef tendons were the only authentic tasting dish. Even the vinegar didn’t taste right and the bottles were dirty. Server prioritized take out orders over serving people at the restaurant. For the food we ordered, we could have paid about 15-25% less at nearby restaurants that are of comparable or better quality. They don’t give you an itemized bill either, so it’s easy to end up tipping on after tax amount.
Ordered delivery. To my unpleasant surprise, the "crispy chicken wings" were swimming in a sea of extremely sugary liquid. The xo beef chow fun had good flavor and mix of veggies but verrrrrrry little beef. I thought they forgot it at first. No excuse for such an incredibly stingy portion of beef.
Ordered to go and it took 25 minutes. Soup dumplings were at the bottom of the bag and crushed in a to go box. The soup leaked everywhere and 5/6 of them were broken (see picture). No vinegar or chili sauce were provided or offered.

Not respect doordash driver wait over 30 minutes not giving food i ask multiple time no responding worst place
I ordered The chicken chowmein… there was more onion than chicken or noodles. I like onion but it’s my preference not to eat a whole onion for dinner. As a customer I feel disappointed and hungry after this meal
