Probably one of my favorite speakeasies in San Francisco. You have to get a reservation to get a table on the weekend, but otherwise you can order at the bar. Cocktails are pricey but amazing- definitely have to try the milk punch and espresso martini. Great for date nights and catching up with friends in an intimate setting. The food here is also GREAT but I treat it as a tasting menu. The caviar pairings are delightful. Portions are tiny (and I get it, Japanese wagyu is expensive but just know a plate of 6 cubes of wagyu will set you back $85+)
I recently discovered a one-of-a-kind speakeasy secretly nestled on Union Ave in the prime Cow Hollow area of San Francisco, and it offered one of the best experiences the city has to offer. On a Tuesday evening, the venue was bustling with professionals, creating an elegant and lively atmosphere. Although reservations are highly recommended due to their popularity, we were fortunate enough to wait in the stylish bar area until we were seated. Our evening unfolded beautifully with expertly crafted top-shelf drinks, delectable appetizers, and ultimately, a sumptuous dinner. Each cocktail was visually stunning and perfectly balanced in flavor, while the appetizers were a delightful prelude to the meal, bursting with unique and magical tastes. A special thanks to Marie, whose attentive and accommodating service ensured our experience was not only exquisite but also comforting and inviting. Her dedication truly set this speakeasy apart. We were so impressed that we decided to stay for dinner and are already planning to return with more friends to share this upscale dining haven. Whether you’re seeking a sophisticated night out or a cozy spot to unwind, this hidden gem on Union Ave is the perfect choice. Thank you to the entire team, especially Marie, for making our night truly special. We can’t wait to return!
Everything was perfect. Friendly and super knowledgeable bartender who made us some of the best cocktails I've ever had. The food was really special too - fine dining in a relaxed atmosphere, with every detail carefully attended to, and yet with no pretentiousness.
Exactly the vibe I was looking for! Visiting from Toronto for work and was looking for the perfect spot for a night cap (or two)—Left Door delivered 👌 Bartender was lovely and accommodating, great cocktails. I’ll definitely be back!
This place is SUCH a cool speakeasy. I would love to come back and try more of what they have. I tried one of their infamous martinis and my friend got the marg. We were both hoping to get lots of food there, for dinner, but decided it would probably be best as an appetizer/small bites thing. The tables are made more as cocktail tables with less room to eat (not a bad thing, it’s just the environment). One of the servers educated us on caviar, so it was so much fun having a caviar bump for the first time there. If you do an on coming here, plan on making a reservation weeks in advance! It’s such a great spot.
Left Door offers a fantastic selection of delicious cocktails, with a menu that’s both creative and extensive. The interior is chic and sophisticated, featuring dim lighting, velvet couches, and a cozy, intimate ambiance. It did get a bit crowded at times, but the atmosphere remained enjoyable throughout.
The caviar and charcuterie board is a must! They also make a great dirty martini, I recommend the blue cheese olives. So delicious.
Intimate, dimly-lit spot with delicious drinks, great atmosphere and a fabulous jazz band on select nights.
Left Door Bar is one of those spots that feels hidden in plain sight. The vibe is super chill—dim lighting, candles, and a cozy atmosphere that makes it easy to settle in for the night. The cocktails are the real deal—thoughtfully crafted and packed with flavor. The pink one with the foam was smooth and refreshing, and the one with the lime garnish hit just right. We also had some oysters, which were fresh and served with lemon and sauce. The service was friendly and attentive. If you’re into good drinks, good vibes, and a space that feels effortlessly cool, this is the place to check out!
I came here randomly after dinner with some friends and this might be the hottest new bar to hit Cow Hollow. It feels like a members-only speakeasy because there are no signs out front. There's a bouncer in front of an unmarked door who lets you up the stairs after checking your ID. It's right above Bus Stop (same owners) When we finally came to the top of the steps, I was just in awe. It felt like one of those NYE members-only clubs because it was a small, cozy space, there was a live Dj, and the decor was giving sophisticated, stylish, old money vibes. Plus the food and drinks were expensive, which is appropriate for how cool of a space you're at. We ordered a bunch of drinks, and these are definitely more spirit-forward. I prefer a more sweet drink (I got The Bamboo with pandan tincture because the Filipino in me couldn't resist a good Pandan flavor), so next time I might go for a different drink. They apparently also have food here! They have high-end options like caviar and aged a5 wagyu bites, but also classic ones like a charcuterie board. We came from dinner, so we didn't order food, but next time l'd love to! Definitely make a reservation because we walked in ano had to hover around until a lounge spot cleared up that wasn't reserved. It does get loud too, but as the night winds down it becomes pretty chill. You gotta check it out!
Really nice vibe! The drinks are really amazing! Its pricey but its a standard rate for a speak easy. Also try to call them first or make a reservation. The door guy is rude. Thats the only off about this place
🍸 Vibes & Atmosphere – Intimate, stylish, and effortlessly cool. Love that SF has spots like this! 🎶 Music – Great DJs keep the vibes just right—perfect for a night out. 🚪 Reservations & Entry – Tough door and reservations are usually required. 💰 Drinks – On the pricier side but worth it 🍽 Food – Haven’t tried it yet, but everything looked yummy.
Secret, speakeasy vibe on the second floor above a historic SF sports / dive bar. The space is dark and sultry and the cocktails are divine. We loved the boujee totchos as a snack

Had an amazing night at Left Door in San Francisco. Literally left 30 minutes ago and had to make this review the minute I got home. My group worked our way through a handful of cocktails—Redwood, Vesper, Manhattan, G&T, and a couple others Emma helped us whip up—and every single one was truly world class. Perfect balance, thoughtful execution, and that “wow” factor you want from a great cocktail bar. What really made the night unforgettable though was Emma, our bartender/server. She absolutely knocked it out of the park. Not only was every drink dialed in, but she brought so much warmth, energy, and knowledge to the experience. She turned a great night into an outstanding one. Honestly, Left Door wouldn’t shine the same without her. Highly recommend for anyone who loves cocktails. 🍸
Truly a great experience. The ambiance is unique and not comparable to other places in SF. It’s cozy, dim, and is a great date spot. The cocktails are well done, and the menu is great. I had sliders and a couple other things. No crumbs left behind. Highly recommend, and the owner is cool too!

Bumping spot with a buzzing bar and pretty good martinis. The actual space was quite crowded on a Saturday which is understandable, but the hostess was awesome and very helpful with finding us a spot at the bar. I probably wouldn't prioritize coming back, but it was good time.
Yummy drinks and tasty bites. Great for a night cap. Our server was really nice. One star deducted because we were kicked out after exactly 90 mins because another reservation has to be sat down. There was no mention of time limit in the reservation. Another group was there before we sat down and continued to stay in the same seats after we left.
Nice place in general, but I will not give 5 stars. Parking is off street. Food is good and ample. Customer service is good but the issue mostly with very much needed reservation. If you want to save yourself embarrassment and useless waiting, call a head of time and make a reservation. Atmosphere is good but can be very loud. Otherwise the vibe is good snd casual.
very cute space! def gets busy (would recommend getting a reservation)! the drinks are … interesting! i got something (lowkey forget the name) and the espresso martini both of which were sooo yum! interior is cute and bathrooms are nice lol! also made the veggie + dips vegan for me which was so so so sweet

Adored the atmosphere and the drinks were elevated and delicious. The service however left much to be desired. They were confused a lot, I didn’t feel taken care of. Couldn’t tell who our server was, so it took a minute to order our first drink. They took one of our menus before they took our first order. Strange. Then after 1 drink, closed our tab after I said we would be ordering more, only to open another one. Presumably due to a server’s shift ending, but they didn’t bother communicating that. I also wish they would have communicated what time the kitchen closes, because by the time I wanted to order food - it was closed already. It was a super busy Saturday, so maybe an off night. But the service didn’t match the experience advertised.

⭐ 1 Star — Unprofessional Last-Minute Cancellation My group reserved Sunday brunch here months in advance, back when the restaurant actively promoted its brunch online with detailed sample menus. Guests were traveling from across the Bay Area — some over an hour away — for this gathering. On the morning of our reservation, one friend noticed that all Sunday brunch menus and advertisements had been removed from the website. Concerned (especially since one guest has celiac disease), I emailed to confirm the menu. Just 30 minutes before our reservation, as we were already on our way, I received a call saying brunch was canceled due to “equipment not working.” I was told the issue occurred the night before during a private party, yet somehow the restaurant only realized they couldn’t operate that morning, right before our arrival. No one had warned us sooner, no alternatives were offered, and the apology felt perfunctory. Combined with the sudden website changes, the situation came across as disorganized at best and misleading at worst. A deeply disappointing experience — 1 star for the complete lack of professionalism and communication.
