Excellent food. We love the Sunflower roll, perfect mix of fresh and fried. The garlic noodles are classic and fantastic. And of course the noodle soups are amazing…I’ve only tried 3 or 4, but all great. The beer selection is good. Service is great. I do wish they would turn down the overhead lights just a tad, but its still very pleasant inside, great decor.
We tried some of the vegan dishes as well as the clay pot, bbq chicken and port. Everybody loved the food. Service was great. I tried the basil vegan chicken and the fabulous lotus salad. Make sure you ask for the chili sauce. They brought us two sauces. One them was dynamite and full of flavor.
Wonderful service and the food was amazing! As a Vegan I am very grateful to have found an eatery that was able to beautifully serve my friend group mixed with vegans and carnivores. Dennis was our server and he was phenomenal. I can’t end this without giving a HUGE SHOUTOUT to their MANGO STICKY RICE!! Don’t miss out, and it was mango season, definitely top tier.
All six of us ordered the vermicelli bowl (one with beef, 2 with pork and 3 with chicken). We all agreed it was delicious! Such a nice combination of flavors with well seasoned meat, crunchy egg rolls, fresh mint, rice noodles and a nice sauce to pour over it. Great service too.
This is my absolute favorite Vietnamese restaurant in the city. (And I have been on a multi year quest for the best pho in SF, I consider it a sport). I’ve been at least 30 times by now over the years. Every dish I’ve tried has been EXCELLENT. One of my favorite features- they do a spicy Bun Bo Hue— but without pork! (I don’t eat pork) and so this is incredible. Their curry noodle soup is fantastic. 5 spice chicken everything is delicious. I also have a ritual before air travel of getting an order of BBQ Beef spring rolls with extra meat and taking them with me to the airport. It is the best pre-travel meal ever- light and filling and wonderful. The staff are incredibly sweet and kind. I’ve taken so many friends here and it’s always a win. I love this place so much!
Really good food. The clay pot catfish is really good. The fish is so soft it melts in your mouth.
I just found my new favorite authentic Vietnamese food. Everything I ordered was very flavorful, atmospher is very clean and updated. I would highly recommend this amazing spot!!!!!
This local restaurant serves the best bun bo hue, offers reasonable prices, and provides excellent service.
Best Pho I've tried in SF hands down. The portions are big, and well worth the price. Not sure why other restaurants in SF are false advertising prices. I've gone to lots of restaurants where the price I pay is $5 more expensive than the menu online. This place is true to its prices online. I called in an order for lunch and picked it up well within the time they told me. Try the beef soup it's the BEST
Clean interior, good and fresh food served at reasonable price. We ordered pho with wontons($10) and spring rolls ($7.25). The food was tasty, fresh and served promptly. Good portion size: enough food to share for two of us. Definitely will be back.
One of the best pho i’ve had in SF! the staff is very friendly and nice! definitely coming back! Thank you!
Sunflower Garden Restaurant is an excellent place for authentic and delicious Vietnamese cuisine. The beef soup pho has a rich and flavorful broth, perfectly cooked noodles, and tender and juicy beef. The fried banana and ice cream are a delicious and refreshing dessert. I also recommend the imperial rolls and the seafood noodle soup. The staff is friendly and attentive. The restaurant is clean and airy. I highly recommend it.
Got the vermicelli vegetarian bowl. It was delicious!! Normally I don't spend this much when I go out to eat but it was worth every penny! So glad they had an amazing veggie dish that didn't lack flavor or ingredients that would fill me up! The service was also lovely, I did takeout and the staff was incredibly nice. 10/10 will be going again and definitely recommend!
Great people honestly. The food is great, full of flavor and comes out super hot with refreshing herbs. Also service is a 20/10. Super helpful and sweet people, yesterday I went to eat across the street from sunflower after I ordered to go from them. But while I was eating a worker there witnessed a cat that was stuck in car meowing and stayed near the car trying so hard to locate where it was coming from but other people also came. She ended up calling for help but no one came so she had to stay there for very long. But overall experience I think the restaurant is very clean compared to most places. Definitely a go to spot in sf for Vietnamese cravings.
Came here by accident because we wanted to have Vietnamese soup. We ending up ordering imperial rolls, shrimp and lotus root salad and catfish soup and side order or vermicelli. Very thing was tasty and enough to satisfy our 'soup' craving. Will definitely come back and try their Pho and garlic noodles.
I got the Bún Nem Nướng and it was delicious. The sauce was a little mild but still good, and not spicy at all but that's easily rectified with sriracha. The Cha Gio I wasn't familiar with but still good, with both it and the nem being well textured and flavored.
The pho tasted great. So did Vietnamese iced coffee. Very friendly and efficient service.
Sunflower Garden SF Review Sunflower Garden is a hidden gem in SF! The food is fresh, flavorful, and served in generous portions. Their Vietnamese dishes, especially the pho and garlic noodles, are delicious and well-seasoned. The atmosphere is cozy, and the staff is friendly and welcoming. Service is quick, making it a great spot for a casual meal. Prices are reasonable for the quality, and it’s a solid choice for anyone craving authentic Vietnamese food. Definitely worth a visit!
Arguably the best vegetarian pho in town! Our overall experience was delightful. The hosts were warm and welcoming. The food came out quick and everything was packed with flavors and delicious. Must try (vegetarian/vegan): Pho (You cannot go wrong with any Pho) Fried rice Stir fried basil vegetarian
As of 03/05/2024: Was greeted and seated immediately upon entering. I ordered the BBQ Beef spring rolls ($12). Let me tell you- this is the best variant of spring roll I have ever had. The beef in the rolls was juicy, tender, and very flavorful. As a main dish, I went with the #1 Beef Combo pho ($16). It was pretty good. Very good serving of different cuts of beef. I was pleasantly surprised by the thick cuts of brisket that were included. The broth was definitely cardamom and coriander- biased. It was a struggle to finish the bowl of pho, as they are very generous with the portion size. 4.25 ⭐️for pho, 5 ⭐️for the BBQ Beef rolls, 5⭐️ for service.
Ordered the Beef Combination Noodle Soup Pho, Sunflower Vermicelli Bowl, and Vietnamese Ice Coffee. I think both noodles were great portions. I personally had the Pho and the meat was really good as well as some pretty satisfying rice noodles. If you're very hungry, both will guarantee satisfaction. The ambiance is quiet and relaxing. There is medium foot traffic during lunch hours and the location is reasonably convenient if you need to find parking.
So many vegan dishes to try! A lot of these are hard to find vegan at other places (banh uot, bun rieu, banh canh).
Got to try the Vegetarian imperial roles with vermicelli noodles (asked to be made vegan) and let me say… this was so satisfying! The fish sauce also tasted vegan too which is a HUGE win. I would highly recommend this to any other vegans who miss Vietnamese food!
I always went to Perilla for Pho in this neighborhood. They were not open today so I decided to try Sunflower. I did the right thing. Their food is impressive to me. Although the price for a pho is more expensive than Perilla, the quantities are much higher. The #1 (beef combination pho) is about $2 more, but you get lots of beefs (all kinds of beefs). I can barely finish it. Service is great. Bathroom is also much bigger and cleaner than Perilla.
Top notch! The bun cha was fantastic, generously portioned and super tasty.
Food is so taste 🤤 We found a sea food pho in San Francisco that my mother approves of. Sunflower Rolls are so good as well. I forgot to take a picture of the soup my mom digged in, I got my favorite vermicelli salad. 😅 If you're in town I recommend this place for some Pho and more.
TLDR: tasty food with great service We came in at lunch and there were a few other tables. I got the bun bo hue and my GF for the pork chop rice. The pork chop rice had a nice sear on it which added lots of flavor. The bun bo hue has a good flavor to it but I’d prefer it to be a bit spicier. I also liked the noodles, they were on the softer side and not as hard as others. I would definitely come Back!
Been coming here for years. Always the best food and customer service.
In general, Vietnamese crispy noodles reminds me of Thai crispy rice noodle salads that look like a bird's nest. Sunflower Garden's version of Vietnamese crispy seafood noodles $17 tastes as good as it looks. They use a crispier noodle than their Thai counterpart. Sunflower Garden's chef put in the right amount of gravy and the dish was not too soggy. They are fine if you are in the area. I prefer the ones in San Jose much more. In terms of cleanliness, Sunflower Garden is superior to SJ Vietnamese establishments. Well done crew at Sunflower Garden.

I’ve been eating here every day since the first day I came to San Francisco. The dishes are very authentic and even better than I made at home. And this is the 1st Asian CLEAN restaurant I’ve been in. The owner must have taken proud of her own restaurant, no sticky table, floor and the bathroom is very nice and clean. To me, cleanliness is as important as the food quality. My family and I really enjoy the dishes here such as Bánh Xèo, Cơm Tấm, Seafood Canh Chua, Cá Kho Tộ, Cơm Kho Tộ, Phở, Gỏi Cuốn Bì….. (everything 😀). This will be my only Vietnamese restaurant to go to in San Francisco!!! ❤️

Small restuarant in the area near Golden gate park. We went on Christmas day so wasn't as busy in the area and parking was easy to find. Food here was surprisingly good. Some dishes were great some were so so. But I'd eat here again if I was in tne area. The crepe rolls and garlic noodles were good. The shrimp curry was just okay. Fries rice is good.
Great service, clean. My 1st time there so wasn't to sure what to order. I ended up with the sunflower vermicelli bowl with shrimp. Super tasty and fresh.
I'm giving them four stars since I've only gone once. But it definitely won't be my last time. I was a bit confused and called this place rather than the restaurant I intended to call. Ha. I ordered garlic noodles with veggies and curry eggplant. The lady on the phone seemed confused about the curry eggplant request but said yes. For not making curry eggplant, the dish was mighty tasty and paired nicely with the garlic noodles. Those were plump and yummy and everything I'd been craving, nicely garlicky and flavorful. The people here are quite friendly. I'll definitely be back and look forward to trying other items on the menu.
I was fighting a cold and I came here to get pho! I ended up having their won ton soup with shrimp and vegetables. It was so filling...I could have easily split it with three other people. I like that they include lots of veggies with the soup and that the broth wasn't overly salted. The service was fast and attentive. When I couldn't finish it...the server was nice enough to box the noodles and broth separate- so my noodles didn't get soggy. I appreciate the details!
Pretty good Vietnamese place that just opened up near me. Decided to give it a try and was pleasantly surprised. This is a small mom n pop restaurant. You can tell because their kids are hanging out. The imperial rolls we're really good and the pho is not too rich. I will definitely come back again as there is no wait.
Pretty cool little spot with a solid menu and a few great options. The pho is decent by SF standards, but nothing exceptional. The vegetarian basil chicken and the tofu vermicelli bowl was really good, but the fried spring rolls were absolutely incredible. Our food was ready fast and the people working there were really nice, especially for me picking it up 10 minutes before closing (oops).
A very good selection of quality Vietnamese food! As for "authentic," it's difficult to say since the entire staff seems to speak Cantonese. This is good, however, for the large Chinese community living in the area who want tasty Vietnamese dishes. But no matter what ethnicity you are, give it a go! :)
Clean and spacious. Reasonable prices. Pho was good but the soup could be better compared with other authentic Vietnamese Pho. Will come back again.
Good Vietnamese restaurant offering a great variety of dishes. We tried one of the soups and stir fried noodles are both were really good. Portions are pretty big and we found that the plates had a good balance of protein/vegetables/noodles. I would recommend if you like this kind of food, specially pho!
Not my greatest photography, but 5 spice chicken with beef broth pho at Sunflower Garden Authentic Vietnamese! Food was decent, the broth did have a solid almost holiday spiced flavor, and the rice noodles were cooked to perfection! The chicken tasted great, though was a tiny bit dry for chicken thigh meat. Adding the bone from the chicken into the broth is highly recommended! Service was fine, if a bit slow and understaffed. Overall I’d rate it a 6.5/10. The food was great and I certainly wasn’t disappointed, however the flavor didn’t hit as hard as other Vietnamese restaurants nearby do.

5 stars for the Vietnamese Crepe (Banh Xeo) and Papaya Salad. Every element of these are so fresh and crisp. Did not love the Bun Bo Hue (spicy beef soup) smells very meaty. Could work for others but I like it with more lemongrass and herbs.
We had a really good dinner. The five spice chicken was flavorful and the portion size was good. Everything was fine until it got busy. They only have one guy handling take out orders, waiting and bussing tables. With a full restaurant, we were completely ignored. We were done with our meals and it took no fewer than 30 minutes to deliver the check. It is brutally unfair to have just one guy doing everything for the front of house. And it is doubly unfair for customers. The tables on both sides of us were grumbling as well. The food was dirt cheap, which was nice.
I wasn't excited about this place looked unauthentic but my partner wanted to check it out anyways. Its the only Asian option on Potrero hill and the menu is a mix of generic Canto style cuisine and Vietnamese food. The appetizers were really good, they had one of the best crispy Vietnamese egg rolls and the salt pepper chicken was tasty. However don't order their pho or chicken rice plate. The pho was disgusting the worst bowl ever. it was straight up plain luke warm can of chicken broth and some strips of beef steak. The chicken plate came over cooked and they gave us cold water to our rice paper. Oh they gave me a bag of pho toppings but plated everything else lol. The waitress wasn't attentive and kinda rude. Not entirely her fault as she's the only one on staff, unfortunately. Overall not great won't be back.
