When I thought Swensen's, I placed it at the level of Baskin-Robbins: fine if its the only option, but not worth going out of the way for. But based on their licorice (limited-edition flavor) and Swiss Orange Chip, I definitely want to come back. The licorice is intense, even as a licorice fan, and the Swiss Orange Chip is like an ice cream version of Terry's Chocolate Orange

It is still makes its ice cream on-site like an old fashioned parlor. It offers a few seasonal flavors. Peach was one of them. It tasted peachy with chunks of peaches and was not overly sweet. Others have recommended the coconut flavor as well. In summary, It's worth the trip. BTW It's on the cable car line.

We tried the banana and Turkish coffee, would recommend either! Not too sweet. There was a line of about 10 people on a weekend afternoon, but it moved quickly and we were served within 5 mins. Fair price for the quantity and quality.

Absolutely gorgeous ice cream this is the best ice cream we have had by far. It’s creamy and full of flavour, I had the chocolate chip cookie dough my husband had the sticky chewy chocolate every lick was a delight. We were so glad we came across this amazing place unfortunately we are from the uk but if we ever get the chance to travel back to San Francisco we will 100% call again with out a doubt.

Absolutely the best ice cream spot in San Francisco, no doubt about it! I feel so lucky to have it right in my neighborhood. The staff is incredibly friendly and attentive. I’ve tried almost every flavor, and my absolute favorites are Fresh Banana and Turkish Coffee. Both are out of this world. I always keep a 32oz tub at home. A must-try!

We came to this ice cream shop all the way from the Netherlands. Our roots are Turkish, and to our delight, they had Turkish coffee ice cream! It was absolutely delicious. While enjoying this flavor, it brought back wonderful memories of Turkey. They also gave us a generous portion. It was such a delightful experience — one that will stay in our memories.

Their ice cream is out of this world. I had the Turkish coffee flavored one, the sweetness level is moderate, and coffee flavor is strong but not overwhelming. I can still taste the cream itself, very high quality and delicious. Finished it all and forgot to take a picture beforehand. Strongly recommend!

A cute vintage ice cream place near Lombardi. Worth checking out as this is the first Swensen location in the world. The milkshake tastes good though with paper straw and cup, you have to be careful to not crush the cup and it was hard to drink out of.

Swensen’s is home to some of San Francisco’s best traditional ice cream and, paradoxically, is usually more crowded when it’s cold and foggy. The super pink peppermint flavor, toasted almond and marble fudge are my favorites, but good ice cream fundamentals and a large menu offers something for everyone. The single scoop is generous and even their plain cake cones are great. Service is always friendly and efficient. The owners were also very considerate in placing their shop on top of a steep hill which, when climbed by foot, burns exactly the same amount of calories as a double scoop (probably).

I liked toasted almond ice cream, the “least sweet” option. Flavors are more classic than experimental compared to salt and straw. Long line Friday night

I love this place, it’s cute. The flavors here overall are better than average, but I particularly liked their peanut butter fudge flavor. The fresh banana was ok but a bit icy. One time I got the cookies n cream, and it was nice except for the lingering fridge/freezer taste, if you know what I mean. It was distracting, so I was a bit disappointed. Still, I might come back for their peanut butter fudge and maybe pair it with coffee.

The first Swensens (!!!), of course gotta be here for a look! There are sooo many flavours and you can try all of them before deciding which one you love most! We all went for the junior scoop in a cone because honestly, America food portions are usually huge. I love the mocha fudge the most. The servers were patient too. Only takeaway option available :) There are limited parking along the walkway, mostly for residential. We took an uber cuz it was easier.

Local homey ice cream parlor with a variety of flavors. It has a 50s vibe and is a good spot for tourists. You order at the counter and then pay. Credit cards accepted. No seating available. They do have kid sizes. I got the Turkish coffee in a cup and asked for hot fudge to be added (95 cents). The employees were nice and efficient.

Although it is an original of Swensen’s around the world,it is not that impressive for me. The price, portion and quality is normal not that outstanding. I still prefer Swensen’s in my home country which is more delicate and more variation for both flavor and topping. The staff were pretty nice. They let me tried plenty of flavor which was a great experience !
