I looove LoooVeee this hidden gem. So close to the beach and open late with lots of great options to choose from. I recommend anything kimchi - from soup to pancake, they're all delicious 😋 mashita! You must try the house soju. It's homemade, yummy, and comes in many different flavors.
Great food. Went twice in one week cause the stew was so good. Open late all week
Incredible restaurant! The young men manning this spot worked diligently and patiently with my table of seven and even gave our birthday guest soju on the house. The food was delicious and we ordered many servings. Would definitely reccomend to others!
small but cozy place! food came out at a good pace. we had a party of 8 and ordered the tteokbokki, japchae, seafood pancake, shrimp fried rice, and beef and mushroom stew and we were FULL. did not finish the stew! make a reservation in advance because there are people waiting outside as soon as they open. service was ok, monday night was pretty busy
Best hole in a wall Korean restaurant I had so far. Coming inside, the atmosphere is very remarkable with groups of friends would hang out and eat. We had several dishes shared, including the Whole Fried Chicken which hear me out, is dry, but it is what most of us in the group grew up eating with, so this brings back memories from our homes. The Beef Kimchi Fried Rice is flavorful with the egg. The Rice Cakes (Tteokbokki) are also great in flavor with the sauces and the chewy texture, has a good kick of spiciness. The Beef Mushroom Stew is very good as well, the soup packing good kick and flavor, also being generous with the toppings. Kimchi and Seafood Pancake is like any korean pancakes you will find on better restaurants, good texture and taste but nothing very special about it. The Japchae is what surprised us the most being very flavorful and cooked fresh really well; usually being a banchan with not that much taste, this one was that delicious. All in all, we had the greatest time in a heartwarming meal with Toyose. Prices are really good too. Reservations are recommended as we came right when they open on a Sunday, the place is filled very quickly.
This place was super cute! Little converted garage, extremely cozy and warm feeling. Service was fast, easy, and friendly. Food was overall very good! We got the kimchi soup hot pot, kimchi fried rice, and 10 piece fried wings. The soup was really delicious. Came bubbling hot, nice tangy kimchi flavor. Kimchi fried rice was also great, nothing particular to call out, just very good food. The wings were the weak point for me. I found them bland and a bit dry compared to many other wings I've had, but may just not be my style. My partner enjoyed them.
A sweet spot to eat in for a late night meal. First time I’ve tried Korean food in SF that wasn’t KBBQ and it was incredibly delicious. Lots of spiced options, and the atmosphere was cozy and intimate. My favorite meals were the Spicy Pork and the Tofu with Kimchi. The yogurt soju house cocktail was also a wonderful drink to have ☺️
Very Korean! Love coming here. Food is amazing. Seafood pancake is amazing. Kimchi fried rice is super flavorful. Love the spicy pork. Those 3 are always my go to order. I’ve tried the japchae, fried chicken, corn cheese and kimchi cheese pancake. All are amazing. I like the soju cocktails they make as well. I’m pretty sure I tried all the flavors. On a weekend or Friday night it’ll be busy and there will be a wait around dinner time but you can put your name and phone number down. I like how they are open late as well. Service is good and I like how they have a button to call the waiter. I always recommend people to come here.
I really liked this place. Went with a group of 4 on a Monday night around 6:30pm. Place wasn’t busy until 7 or so, so we were seated right away. It has the cute cozy feel of a “hole in the wall” restaurant. It had fun string lights and not too loud background which makes this a great date spot. We got the tteokbokki with ramen (highly recommend with ramen), japchae with beef, seafood kimchi pancake and kimchi beef fried rice. I love all, the japchae IMO could’ve used a little more umami flavor but still, everything was great. And the price! We spent about $25/person which was great for all we got. The service was friendly and prompt. Clean bathroom. Clean restaurant. I really enjoyed coming here and would come back again!
Every dishes are tasty and flavourful. The servers are very prompt and accurate. Addition that they open until late when the whole city dinner is closed early. I asked them to cook food for my dad special dietary, they happy to cook it and it came out perfect. Will be back when visit SF again and will recommend to everyone i know. Good job!
This place was introduced to me by someone close and I have been here a couple of times now. Upon arrival, there are lines or a wait for the most part, and you can add yourself to their waiting list. The interior is basically like the garage of a house, which makes it pretty unique. The cuisine here is Korean, their menu consists of small bites, casseroles, barbecue dishes, soju and much more. You do have to be the age of twenty one or older to have any alcoholic beverages here and they do check ID. The staffs here are welcoming, well trained and understanding where I never encountered any issues during any of my visits. The food is fresh daily, made to order which is just the way I like it and I never mind the wait since I am a very patient person. I recommend this place to anyone looking for a laid back spot, if you are willing to try something new or if you just so happen to be in the area. I definitely will be back to tryout the other delicious options they have to offer.
I'm surprised I haven't reviewed Toyose as I've been going here for over ten years! There's been a lot of changes throughout the years, lots of memories, staff changes, lots of price increase, some of the dishes quality has degraded, but this continues to be a great night spot with friends. Plus a walk to Ocean Beach always clears up any buzz! The staff from the earlier days were more fun and seemed to enjoy working there. The staff from recent years seems like they just want to get paid and be out. I feel them. Maybe management has changed or it's just different times. My favorite dishes here are the Fried Chicken, corn cheese and spam stew, but I'll eat just about everything on their menu honestly. All in all, of course I would come back. I always do.
Food was amazing! No offense San Francisco but it’s hard to find good Korean food in the city. Toyose reminded me of my childhood and I especially love the corn cheese—very cheesy and very buttery! The spam stew was amazing as well! I just wish they had added beans for the authenticity budae jjigae. I had tried 3 cocktail sojus. The mango, kiwi, and lychee. The best one had to be the kiwi. I recommend it!! The spicy edamame was not really worth getting but the kimchi pancake was pretty good! The whole experience was nice and the restaurant is clean and the servers were all attentive and efficient! Will come back again :)
Amazing place - I can’t think of another place where you only need to spend $15 per person and be so satisfied. Have the stew and you won’t regret it. Everything else is good too but the screw will have to be the center piece. 100% recommended! Ps, the place is packed, come early or super late, or you’ll have to wait for 1 hr or so.
Great Korean comfort food. The kimchi pancakes and wings were excellent. Stew was really good too and the spicy pork was amazing. Service was just okay, but the cozy vibe makes it worth it.
Very good value! Cute spot with village-like internal decor and lots of tasty options. The portions are very generous at a great price, which is a large part of the appeal. We especially enjoyed the rose ddukboki, a very creamy and rich dish that's distinct from any other ddukboki we've had before.
Very quaint and enjoyable atmosphere. Food was good got the steamed egg and kimchi pancake, I would come back. Service was a 6 out of 10 however it did not negatively affect the meal. Give it a try.

The food is good but the spicy fire wing was not the same as before. People are nice there.

Korean food is fantastic, and this place is a great option for those who like to eat dinner late. It's recommended to make a reservation if you're going with four people.
Loved the atmosphere of the pods but, as a celiac, loved even more the abundance of gluten free dishes! I had the corn cheese and the kimchi fried rice - both super tasty. Price, quality and portions are in good proportion.

I came by here while visiting a friend - we got to the restaurant around 7:30pm. The restaurant, on the outside, was very unassuming, however, upon entering, you find a warm and inviting dining interior. There are few booth seats near the entrance, with semi-see through privacy curtains. There was only one party of 2 ahead of us when we got there, but it was still a good 15-20 minute wait. We were seated in the back dining area, and got some drink orders in, as well as an order of spicy edamame. I ended up ordering the stir fried chicken gizzard, which came out sizzling on a serving tray. The gizzard was a bit tougher than I was expecting, but the flavor was good and paired well with the rice and beer. Not too bad overall, but I wish they had wifi, since their menu is via QR code, and signal is very spotty at the back dining room. They did have some printed menus on hand, but we ended up having to ask for them, since neither of us managed to get enough signal to view the online menu.
We had the kimchi-seafood pancake, stir fry chicken gizzards, spam stew and fried whole chicken. Pairs well with beer and/or soju depending on what you feel like having that night. Once you have that bowl of spam stew and the gizzards, you warm right up. Kudos to the kitchen for reminding me of cold nights in Seoul.
Always on the hunt for a spot that is open late. Most of my usually spots are now closed by 10pm, so options are limited. Haven't been to Toyose in a while, so glad to know they're open til 12. Seems like they're the only business open in the area, so parking is super easy and plentiful. They have both outdoor dining and indoor dining available. It was pretty cold so we opted for indoor dining. Menus are currently QR code only. Menu is pretty large and offers many options for different tastes. We got the whole fried chicken, tteokbokki (with cheese and ramen added), kimchi pancake, and the kimchi beef fried rice. All of our choices were solid and delicious. Highly recommend getting the whole fried chicken and the tteokbokki! Service is pretty good, and don't be afraid to use the doorbell. Overall a good experience and will probably be back soon!
SO yummy! We arrived before they opened on a Thursday and there was no line, but the restaurant filled quickly once we were seated. They have a service button at each table so you don’t need to flag down your server. The beef mushroom stew was incredible and fed 4 of us perfectly. We also got the japchae and spicy chicken wings. The japchae was delicious and flavorful, but the chicken wings could have used more spice. We are excited to try more dishes at Toyose!
Y'all know this spot was converted from a garage? Perfect late night spot to hang out with friends with some maekju, Soju or somaek and tons of drinking food everyone can share. This is the SF version of Dan Sung Sa in Oakland but love that the booths have curtains that roll down for some privacy if you want. Food is great and I love that they have a call button if you need more drinks, order more food, or just get the check. The spot gets busy quickly. Ordered the whole fried chicken with a thin crispy skin and perfect for a group with salt and pepper to dip the meat. Haemul pajeon (seafood pancake), tones of seafood and perfect crisp, and if you never had cheese corn you have to try it at least once in any Korean spot. The japchae was good as well and cooked up on order and came in hot hot (temperature)
Delicious food, even if they make you wait almost an hour to get a table. You can't reserve a table and have to write your name on the waitlist - we had no idea about it and people who arrived after us got a table earlier, do not make this mistake. It was January and the restaurant was pretty drafty and cold, I had to keep my jacket on. It was very cozy but also very noisy, making it hard to keep a conversation. Food was delicious, so was the lychee cocktail. The serving staff was friendly but it took them a while to notice us and take our order.
Decoration of this place is lovely! Almost feels like the inside of a ship, lots of wood and dark tones. And huge win for staying open late! Staff is very polite and I've heard that their drinks are good, but the food doesn't stay behind! I tried their Beef Kimchi Fried Rice, Chicken Gizzard Stir Fry, Calamari Stir Fried and Calamari Soup, they were all tasty. Honest Korean food, good servings for a decent price! And if you are coming for a late night dinner or something, parking is a breeze! I have been here a few times and will be back again!
If you wanna cozy at home feeling comfort meal come to this spot! I just revisited this place over the weekend and haven’t been back in a couple of years. Came on a Saturday night around 6:15 and waited about 40 minutes or so. It gets packed on Saturday. Their side of rice is so good! It tasted excellent with the army stew we had. The portions were huge. I maybe would skip the chicken gizzard as it was a little overdone and salty.
Located in quiet outer sunset neighborhood, Toyose had always been in my list and I finally got to try it. Went in for my Birthday dinner on Monday night and it was still packed. Had to wait for almost half an hour. Make sure to write your name down by the main door as it is first come first serve. Restaurant is really cool with nifty artworks all around dining area. Food looks amazing and does taste great as well. Really liked their spicy pork and calamari stir fry! Spicy wings were just regular plain wings. I wasn’t expecting spicy wings to be so bland. Had to knock off a star because we were served undercooked rice and I had a bad stomach ache after few hours. Service is satisfactory. Overall, good food and pretty chill restaurant.
hidden gem tucked away in an outer sunset garage serving classic korean dishes and drinks in a lively background full of other groups of friends having fun. although the food wasn’t top tier, it was still pretty good and great to pair with reasonably priced drinks and fun vibes. compared to standard bar food, it definitely exceeds that. open late night but be prepared to wait over an hour on weekends. would come back to bring some friends! seafood pancake: large portion, was decent but wouldn’t get again. maybe try kimchi pancake. soon tofu soup: decent dish but wish it was spicier. corn cheese: can’t go wrong with this appetizer. chicken wings: nice and crispy but needed some sauce. yogurt soju cocktail: delicious at a great price!
We were looking for a late night spot after an event we went to and a friend of mine suggested this place. We didn't drive but there was plenty of parking out front. We came here toward their later hours and were quickly sat. Food was solid - had udon, wings, beef kimchi fried rice, and potato croquettes. The udon and fried rice were the tastiest of the bunch. We liked that there was a button to call a server too. Overall, it's a good spot to grab a late night meal.

Unfortunately I’ve had better food - nothing here really stood out. Kimchi fried rice is pretty good, but the chicken wings were underseasoned/a little dry (it’s not covered in sauce like I expected and definitely not spicy), the creamed corn was just ok, and the budae jigae was a little too salty. The restaurant was already pretty busy when we went on a Saturday evening around 5:30 and we unluckily sat right by the door which was very cold with all the foot traffic + a door that wouldn’t close. Service is on the slower side too. All in, I just wasn’t wowed by the dining experience or the food here, maybe better luck next time.
The taste was ok overall. I understand there were so many people, but we ordered two beef fried rices and only got one. We had to ask twice for the second one. The first time they said we ordered two identical fried rices, and then they gave us two servings of white rice. After the waiter served the second serving of fried rice, he even wanted my friend to use another friend's spoon. The second fried rice took almost half an hour, and the cutlery took another ten minutes. Even the water took about ten minutes to be served, and they only gave us the water after they started serving the food.
We went around 8pm and was lucky it wasn't overly busy. This place is cozy if not tight, but that's part of the charm. Many local places in Korea are like this, usually even smaller so this place has that vibe. We've been here before but I've never written a review, but this visit compelled me to share one in hopes that management might see it. This place is, and can be good, there are some dishes that are good, but some (on our visit) were just not good at all and would never order it again. Let's start with the bad. Bulkogi -Was not good. Dry and bland, hardly any flavor, the stuff in the hot foods section at Kukje is far better (and it's not exactly great). No excuse for this, and I don't give any Korean restaurant slack for messing up a hallmark dish. Cheese corn - If you like the idea of overly cooked canned corn (see pic) covered in a layer of melted cheese and nothing else as good, then my friend, you haven't had good cheese corn. Would never order this again. The good/ok. Kimchee fried rice was good, tangy as it should be, with a fried egg on top. Kimchee pancake was ok/good. Nothing to write home about but we were hungry, it came out fast and was decent enough. Sister House in Hayward makes a good example, nice and lightly crispy on the outside, good kimchee taste. Service was friendly. The place is tidy, they clean up your area and might even vacuum before they seat you. They are open late which is great for people who work late or had a night out, and are hungry again. Son comes here and always orders the fried chicken and some other things so those are probably better. Read other reviews and find out what others order and recommend.

Waited 30/40 mins for a table for 6 only to be crammed into a table for 4. When we asked for a bigger table because clearly we couldn’t fit, the staff told us we would have to wait another 30 mins. If we were told it would have been a 60 min wait total, we would probably have gone to a different restaurant. The food, while decent, does not make up for the poor ambiance and the fact that we were sitting elbow to elbow. The table was also so small it could not accommodate food for 6 people. When they set up the table for us, they even had to get a chair from another table and stick it to the side where there is a lot of foot traffic. We had to be the ones to move the table and rearrange to make it slightly more comfortable. Decent food and prices but much to be improved.
Disappointed by poor service Date of visit: 7/29/2026 Server: Young male waiter I had a very disappointing experience at this restaurant today. While dining, I accidentally spilled a drink on the floor because the table was too small and overcrowded with items. A young male server walked by, handed us a cloth, and told us to clean it up ourselves — with a very unfriendly and impatient attitude. As someone who has worked in restaurants for many years, I was shocked. In good hospitality, staff always take care of such situations kindly, without making the customer feel embarrassed or responsible. This kind of customer service is unacceptable and unprofessional. I hope the management sees this and offers proper training to their staff. Guests deserve to be treated with respect and care.
I am writing to share feedback about my recent visit tonight around 10 PM. The food was good, but the service was disappointing. The staff member who took our order had a bad attitude, seemed uninterested, couldn’t answer basic menu questions, and spoke so quietly that it was difficult to understand him. This negatively affected our dining experience. I hope this feedback will be taken into consideration. Thank you.
