We had the absolute pleasure of working with Vittorio and the team at Trattoria da Vittorio for our black-tie wedding in San Francisco of 160 people, and we truly cannot recommend them enough! From the very beginning of the planning process, Vittorio was responsive, accommodating, and incredibly easy to work with. From menu selections to bar planning, he made us feel completely sure that everything would be handled seamlessly. On the day of our wedding, Vittorio and his team were outstanding. The service was professional, they were attentive to our guests, and ensured everything ran smoothly. The drinks were excellent and the food was delicious! We received countless compliments throughout the night. Vittorio and the Trattoria da Vittorio team truly helped make our day unforgettable!
Vittorio and his team catered our wedding reception in January 2026. We had about 100 guests and buffet style dinner. We had to change the date last minute due to the sudden loss of a family member. He and his team also handled all of the linens, passed out appetizers, cleared tables and filled water glasses, etc. I cannot praise Vittorio and his team enough! Everyone loved the food and many went back for multiple servings. His team was kind and attentive in their service. Vittorio was so easy to work with, was very flexible with us changing the date or number of guests. He prepared us an incredible tasting at his restaurant so we were confident about the food. The price point for the quality of food was also fantastic and way more affordable than most of my friends’ caterers for their weddings. Cheers to Vittorio and team! Thank you so much! - the Akkads
Authentic Calabrian Excellence in West Portal - Perfect for Business Dinners Trattoria da Vittorio (150 West Portal Ave, San Francisco, CA 94127) exceeded expectations for a Monday night business dinner. This is the kind of neighborhood gem that makes West Portal special. The chicken Milanese was outstanding - perfectly crispy breading with a tender, juicy interior that showcased the quality you'd expect from Mamma Francesca's recipes. The portion was generous at a moderate price point that makes sense for regular visits. Our server provided cordial, professional service that allowed us to conduct business comfortably without feeling rushed. What truly distinguished the evening was experiencing the authentic Southern Italian hospitality that owner Vittorio D'Urzo has built his reputation on. Two separate tables celebrated birthdays with traditional Italian birthday songs, and in a genuinely spontaneous moment, another patron stood and played a beautiful short trumpet piece. The entire restaurant applauded - this is the kind of warm, communal atmosphere you simply can't manufacture. The restaurant itself is inviting with stone accents and wooden tables that create the perfect balance between casual comfort and business-appropriate ambiance. Having seen their nearly 5-star rating with 1,100+ Yelp reviews, I understand why West Portal residents consider this their go-to spot. Perfect for: business dinners, date nights, family celebrations, or casual pizza nights. The homemade pasta and Neapolitan thin crust pizzas looked equally impressive. If you're seeking authentic Calabrian cuisine in San Francisco's West Portal neighborhood without downtown prices or formality, Trattoria da Vittorio delivers exceptional food, service, and that rare neighborhood warmth every single time.
Great menu and wine selection. Had a great Ceasar salad with delicious extra anchovies, fantastic carbonara, and yummy tiramisu. Can't wait to go again.
Vittorio and his team catered our wedding in September in San Anselmo and we couldn’t have asked for a better caterer! He was incredibly easy to work with, super responsive, and his catering service was truly full service. His team was professional and on point all night. The food was absolutely delicious! All of our guests raved about the authentic Italian dinner we enjoyed. As a bride who can’t have dairy, I was especially grateful that he made a separate dish just for me and it was AMAZING. Highly recommend! Photo credit: Melanie June Photography (IG: melaniejunephotography)
I cannot say enough good things about our entire experience with Vittorio! He is incredibly professional, generous, easy to work with and makes the MOST delicious food. We got endless compliments on dinner at our wedding. I highly, highly recommend choosing Vittorio for any catering occasion.
Vittorio’s team was one of the most solid vendor teams we worked with for our wedding. Honestly, Vittorio himself felt like he was more than just a vendor we were working with. We stayed in contact throughout the year before, and by the time the wedding rolled around, it felt like he was part of our whole wedding journey. We loved that we were working directly with a real and local person. From the initial tasting to the actual wedding day, his team’s professionalism, friendliness, and execution were top notch. His team was actually the only caterer we did a tasting with, since the food at the tasting was incredible, and the service was some of the best we had experienced at any restaurant. So it was a done deal for us, especially considering his very reasonable prices. At the wedding, we received countless compliments on the food and service, and we only left with one tray of leftovers since everyone had gone up for seconds (and thirds!). I don’t think you can find a better value, better team, or better food than Vittorio’s team can serve. We’re so lucky that we can go back to his restaurant anytime we want whenever we’re feeling nostalgic about our wedding day. (Go to his restaurant! It’s honestly some of the best Italian in the city. The eggplant parm is fabulous, and I usually don’t like eggplant.)
I was so impressed by Vittorio and his team. They went above and beyond to make our wedding day special and to help me achieve my vision. We started with a variety of passed Italian canapés, including bruschettas, caprese skewers, meatballs, and prosciutto and melon. His team then served a family style dinner to 130 guests with Caesar salad, pesto rigatoni, fiochetti, short rib, and chicken piccata, also ensuring our vegan/vegetarian/dairy free/gluten free guests were served at the same time with what I heard was a delicious dish. I didn't get to eat any dessert but one of my friends told me she ate her weight in cream puffs. Our guests could not stop raving about the food and have asked us where Vittorio's restaurant is so they can go back! Vittorio also brought in bartenders who absolutely crushed it with my bartender husband's very specific drink recipes. We feel SO lucky to have found Vittorio. He and his team were so on top of it and the food, drinks, and service were amazing. We felt so taken care of by him and his team, and I can't wait to visit his restaurant for our anniversary for years to come.
I went here for a food tasting for my wedding. Vittorio, the owner, from the start was amazing. He was the ONLY caterer who picked up the phone to call me and talk details. And he called me- no exaggeration- within 10 minutes of me emailing an inquiry. Some of the other places I reached out to never even got back to me. We scheduled a tasting and it was such a pleasure to go to his restaurant and meet him in person. Everything we tried was delicious which made it hard to put a menu together cause we wanted EVERYTHING! After a few emails back and forth, he was able to customize our menu and work with a budget we felt comfortable with. Our wedding is next year and I will update with more pictures but we are SO EXCITED to serve this delicious food to our guests!!!! Highly recommend this restaurant for any meal or for catering! Vittorio is fantastic! Pictured: a variety of bruschettas, meatball, pesto pasta, pasta with meat sauce, fiochetti (my personal fave) lemon chicken, chicken Marsala, lasagna, eggplant parm, profiteroles, canola and tiramisu. . . . . 5-19-25 update- we had our wedding. The food was AMAZING! All the guests loved everything and Vittorio and his team did an excellent job serving!!!!!!! We changed our menu to be: Homemade Fiocchetti pasta, chicken piccata, short ribs, mashed potatoes, fresh veggies, bread and cedar salad. Hands down would hire him again and again! It was a pleasure working with him. I’m only sad I don’t have pictures. Will update if I receive any of the food !
One of my favorite places to go to for Italian cuisines! Here is what we ordered: - Lasagna $24 - Pappadelle Alfredo $20 - Garlic Bread $10 I always either order their lasagna, pappadelle or their fettuccine. This this I got their lasagna as I was craving something meaty 😂 The lasagna was cooked al dente and their meat sauce is very rich in flavor. The tomato sauce gives it a tangy & hearty taste with the herbs & spices they use. My boyfriend ordered their pappadelle Alfredo and this always hits the spot as well! Love the creamy sauce & the soft and chewy noodles. Love how the flat pasta just sucks up all of that creamy goodness, making every bite super fun to eat!
An hour before closing and lost on where to find dinner, my husband and I stumbled into Trattoria da Vittoria hoping to grab the very last table. It was a busy Friday night and the restaurant was buzzing. Even with the rush and the late timing, we were greeted warmly and offered a table. When the couple beside us said hello and gave suggestions on what to order, we did not hesitate. After ordering a few glasses of red wine and the garlic cheese bread, we shared the orecchiette pasta - homemade orecchiette with spicy sausages, broccoli rabe, and 'nduja. It was exquisite. Great texture. Spicy and tangy but not overpowering. Getting each of the ingredients into one bite was heavenly. I’ve since had this dish locally, and it did not have the spice and POW that the dish at Trattoria Da Vittorio had. I loved this restaurant so much that I suggested that my group of friends visit. I went on Friday and again on Sunday! We had a large group of thirteen and they took great care of us. I highly recommend Trattoria Da Vittorio.
We were looking for a lunch spot around the zoo when we came across this place. We got here and were immediately greeted and seated. We chose to sit outside, so we didn’t see much of the inside. Service was prompt and attentive. My husband got a pizza and I got the chicken Parmesan. Both of us enjoyed our food immensely. The portions were large and I had plenty to take home. The next time we come to San Francisco we will definitely try to come by again!
pappardelle pasta in pink sauce is mind blowing. Order the condiments - chilly Oil is incredible! Spaghetti is ok. Cheesy garlic bread was not that great - kinda burnt.
Overview: feels like an Italian resturant. Plenty of wine bottles...the wine list is extensive. Outdoor patio seating Meal/Time: Dinner Sunday 523PM Seated: 523PM Ordered: 532PM First ordered item arrived: 540PM Decor/Atmosphere: Italian cafe, wine Service/ Front of the House: Greeted and seated immediately Service/Serving Staff: order taker did not introduce himself. Asked if we had any questions. Service Staff not engaging. After we got our appetizers the waitstaff became more attentive. They cleared the starter plates and replaced the used silverware...really appreciate it. Did not come around to see if I wanted a refill of my iced tea. Food: Grilled Polenta with Gorgonzola Mushroom cream sauce $20. Not bad... you can really taste the cheese. I did not see any grill marks on the Polenta. It was more of a slight pan crisper then grilled. Fried Calamari and artichoke $22. Cooked perfectly. Crispy, tender and moist. Crust is light and airy. For the main course, I had the "grilled" Branzino $32. The dish was served with mashed potatoes and Brussel Sprouts. The brazino was more pan fried then grilled. The dish was really good and a real keeper. The fish was juicy and flaky with perfect amount of salt and lemon. The Brussel Sprouts were tender and not bitter. Mashed was bit watery but good nevertheless. Value: good value for the quality of the meal. Service could be a bit better. Restroom: single unisex. Spacious with baby changing table. It was stocked Will I come back?: Yes...the short ribs looked tempting.
Came here with my family for the first time trip try this place out. Called ahead and they don't take reservations. There is a public parking lot just a couple hundred feet to the left of the restaurant. Parking is only free on Sundays. We went on a Sunday night for dinner and the place was almost full. I tried their mushroom soup which was thick and had a strong mushroom flavor that was really flavorful, creamy and not salty. Their cup is really a bowl. Very generous serving. I ordered their mushroom ravioli with truffle sauce. The ravioli was all dente and the mushroom truffle sauce was very good. We also ordered their bruschetta which had several different variations. Probably the best bruschetta that I have tried. With so many people in the restaurant, it was quite loud. And having a conversation with your party you will need to raise you voice to be heard. Most entrees were in the $20-$27 range. This is definitely a family friendly place. It would be difficult to conduct a business meeting here during dinner. The place is clean and has a simple decor. Overall I would recommend you try this place.
Food was good, as usual, with a few small letdowns. The tomato bruschetta was soggy rather than crunchy, the zucchini was fridge-cold, the eggplant parmigiana was smaller and a bit burnt on the edges, and they didn't offer the usual bread and oil to nimble on. Otherwise, very nice and fast service. I loved my much needed carbonara fix.
Dog friendly with only a few outdoor tables. Everything overall is good. The meatballs were a bit too lean for me but the flavor was good. We both like how thin the pizza crust was, reminds us of NY pizza. But the middle part was a bit soggy. We got chocolate souffle but it was more like a chocolate lava cake, which we didn't mind, it was good, not too sweet.
Excellent and friendly service. The lasagna was delicious and hearty, but our other dish, oxtail pasta felt bland and also under salted. The Caesar salad wasn’t anything to write home about, but the garlic cheese bread was decent. Overall not worth the price. Doesn’t feel like authentic Italian food. Do yourself a favor and go to Little Joe’s down the street for takeout. Better value and quality
