It's a chill spot. Staff is very nice. The meats are cooked to perfection. Garlic bread is tasty. Cornbread is nice too. Potato is ok, ordered the first time we went. I've had better. Mac n cheese is too thick, could use a little seasoning. Beans are spicy. Pickled onions and cucumbers are pretty yummy. We've tried the brisket, TRI tip and chicken. All meats are juicy. We just tried their breakfast sandwich. Really good simple but wish they had potatoes or french fries as a side option. Overall great place and hidden gem to try out.
I had surprised birthday lunch today. I was so amazed with their meat selections how they cook and seasoned. I’ve been to Midwest many times had serious barbecue joint, but these are almost as good as theirs. I still cannot believe that I can I have this kind of barbecue joint exist in Mountain View California. Barbecue sauce has a great depths of flavors with smokiness, spicyness to perfection. And you cannot ignore their side dish was freshly made and I had awesome taste, Including their bread. Love this place. Whoever is the meat lover, should try this place definitely!!!
The chicken was moist and delicious. Very rare to find a place that makes great chicken like this. A must go to if you like juicy chicken
Yummy new neighborhood BBQ spot. Very fast service for take away on a Monday night. It was ready in just 10 min! Good portions and the meat was juicy but not greasy. Sides were tasty, especially the beans. Attached a photo of the plate I made at home with brisket and pulled pork with beans, slaw, and mac & cheese.
I've been mourning the loss of Armadillo Willy's for months now, but this quiet and homey little place is much better. The pork is really tasty without being excessively greasy. The bread it was served on was toasted perfectly.
I eat here often and bring friends. Fantastic food, service, and blues music ambience. Yesterday the staff totally bailed me out when I needed to feed 16 people. The cook, counter gal, and owner made it all happen. The party was saved. Everyome raved about the meat and asked "Where is this place? I have to check it out!" This is my go-to smoked meat and BBQ place. Good draft beers, sodas, and side dishes. Easy and casual. Do not hesitate: GO!
Went there before the Super Bowl. Food was excellent! Had the BBQ trip tip sandwich with potato salad. Came out fast. Great service. Will come back again. Thanks Wagon Wheel!
Tried meat only, brisket, tri-tip, and pulled pork since on keto diet right now. Brisket was tasty & tender with a good amount of smoke on it, just how I like it. What's the point of bbq if you can't really taste that the meat was smoked? Also enjoyed the tri-tip & pork. When I am in the area and have a hankering for great BBQ, which is often, I'll be back
Food was pretty good! I liked the brisket a lot especially the fattier parts, and they have spicy and normal BBQ sauce. The tri tip was quite good too but i prefer the brisket. Both potato salad and coleslaw were good, and the piece of bread they give you as a side in the combos can be cornbread or garlic bread, not just normal bread! We got cornbread and it was really good. Would definitely come back! Skip the pecan pie tho, that part was disappointing. And maybe bring an extra layer if it's cold outside because sitting by the window was a bit chilly.
This is a sneaky good pick for BBQ since it is nestled near 101 exit Southbound just after the 85 south exit. Been here twice before for pickup and the food has been excellent. Staff is friendly and they have a good selection local beer options either on tap or in a can. Private room option too. They tend to run a bunch of specials, and this time was the gaucho: brisket sando with chimichurri and provolone.
This place is to die for!!! The brisket was seriously the best brisket I’ve ever had, the ribs and pulled pork was amazing with there bbq sauce. I got so full I had to go home and lay down… will definitely be coming back… the staff was super kind and helpful which you don’t see these days….
Been here a few times since they opened. Favorite is the pulled pork. I usually get the sandwich which makes for a tasty light lunch. Tried the pulled pork and hot link plate this time. The link was a little spicy for me, so I'll try something else next time. Meals come with a hot BBQ sauce and a sweet BBQ sauce. Both are good, so I alternate bites with them. Highly recommended.
The pork ribs were just amazing! Probably one of the best ones I’ve tried in my life. The beef brisket was a bit underwhelming - in my opinion it had way too much fat even though I love far generally. The Cole slaw was fine although a bit acidic. The interior was utterly basic, and the cutlery and the plates were disposable. Overall not cheap price-wise but still good quality and I recommend this place if you are around
Really really good BBQ meat, tasty, tender, loved it. The service was good too. Great portion and it was priced reasonably. Would 100% visit again!
7/31/25 Wagon Wheel 861 Leong Dr Mountain View, CA 94043 Yet another repeat at my favorite MTV BBQ restaurant. We went for a late lunch on a Thursday and it was not very busy. We ordered the Brisket and 4 Rib BBQ plates at the counter and our food was brought to our table quickly. My tasty smoky brisket was a little dry but enjoyable. Wifey's ribs were tender and not quite fall off the bone but really tasted good. I was happy and full. A great value and forever repeatable.
Dropped off Piskiss Barnswallow's son, Privily to his folks here in town, because he ran away from home, and ended up in Napa, and gave me a call for help! I don't really blame the kid much.. his mom, Prudence can be pretty strict at times...like all the time! But you gotta realize the kid is 30 years old, and deserves a little freedom! Prudy was so happy to get her little boy back home she went over to the Wagon Wheel Barbeque and picked up a whole slug of ribs and stuff...Everything was Amazing! 5 stars, and worthy of a two hour drive! ☆☆☆☆☆
This unassuming strip mall restaurant serves up excellent food. The meat was super juicy and flavourful and the sides were equally packed with flavour. Don't let the low key exterior put you off - let the food do the talking!
We were looking for BBQ since our favorite place was closed. I saw this place pop up and decided to stop by and try it. Service was friendly and fast! Food came out quickly. I was expecting a small salad and ended up with a huge one! Absolutely fire 🔥 I could only get this photo since my friends already ate most of their plates. So I would say this place is absolutely delicious!!!
This place is worth comin in and trying. Good links. Excellent tri tip. Have also had the burnt ends. Its the bomb 💣
The food here was absolutely amazing. It is counter service so you order at the counter and then they bring it to your table. I had the pulled pork and barbecue chicken with a side of mac & cheese and potato salad. Everything was super good. The only thing I have to say is a potato salad had some kind of season it that was a little bit offputting but other than that everything was 10 out of 10.
Delicious food and large portions! We had dinner there on a Friday night and I had the brisket dinner, which was huge and my fiancée had the brisket sandwich. Both very tasty and we used their own bbq sauce on the meals. We came back the next day for a late lunch/early dinner as we went to Shoreline Amphitheater to see Keith Urban that night and they are less than a ten minute drive apart. I had the pork rib sandwich and she again had the brisket. The meals averaged about 20 each both visits but we felt it was worth it as it was a getaway weekend and I wasn’t concerned about prices much.
Holy Cow! Holy Pig! Not sure how good BBQ found it's way out here. The pull pork was some of the best, lot of juice and tender. Brisket could have been more tender but great smokey taste. All the sides were great. Corn bread was on point.

Decided to stop by before a concert. Meat was tender and good flavor. I got tritip. Bread was interesting in a good way. I liked the Mac and Cheese. I loved the soda. Nice and friendly staff.
Burnt ends were tender and juicy! Usually I find them like small nuggets not to soft! They were nice here! Beans were hot and flavorful! Potato salad was so good!! Ribs were also amazing but on the smaller side! Overall great experience will definitely be back with others!

I make it a habit of dropping in on Wagon Wheel every time that I am in town. It's the best BBQ in the area, with friendly, caring staff. For example, Jackie makes sure that I enjoy my dinner with solid recommendations and attention to detail. Wagon Wheel always satisfies.
The brisket was fork tender and very yummy. The burnt ends were as good. Did not have any complaints. Nice hole in the wall place.
Got dinner for me and my girlfriend on Saturday night. The food was delicious and the service was stellar! If you're in the mood for some BBQ, definitely give Wagon Wheel a try. You won't be disappointed.

I finally made it to Wagon Wheel to try their BBQ. They have an extensive menu, with everything you’d expect. I tried the burnt ends and brisket. The sauce on the burnt ends was a tad sweet, but both meat options were tender. The brisket was quite fatty, so I found myself scraping the fat away. The sides could be improved. The cornbread did not have a lot of flavor. It needed sweetness or a side of honey. The potato salad was good, but maybe not the freshest. The coleslaw and pickles were the best out of the sides. Service is excellent and the staff are friendly. The outdoor patio is shaded and stress free. I would come back because it’s hard to find a good BBQ place in the Bay Area.
We bought pulled chicken and pulled pork for a celebration after our church service. Both were very tasty and well received. The only issue was as we were serving, the “pulled” pork needed some more work to be able to serve individual amounts.
I came here for a late lunch and ordered the Santa Maria salad. The restaurant is clean and looked remodeled. The two ladies that worked there were friendly and so helpful, a major plus in anyone's book. The tri tip, unfortunately, was not hot nor juicy. The meat was slightly on the cooler side, dry and not juicy. I wanted to give it 4 stars, mainly because of the staff, but for the price I expected better, and more, of the tri tip. I will come back and give it another go and, hopefully, have a better experience so I can change my rating.
I tried the brisket and tri-tip which was excellent. Got the potato salad, mac n cheese and baked beans which was decent
The portions are great. The garlic bread was phenomenal. They made a mistake on our order so we got a free dessert, which was pretty cool
Service was pretty good. Gotta give the counter guy points for his honesty. He pretty strong about the tri tip and brisket and suggested against the pulled pork that day, but I wanted pork so I opted for the ribs, with sides of beans and cole slaw. TBH, my meal was ok; both the ribs and beans were kind of lukewarm, but not so bad that I didn't want to eat them. So...I *might* try this place again, maybe on a different night (it was a Saturday about 4pm). It seemed like things were starting to wind down and I got caught up in it?
Really good spot for a quick and comforting lunch! As a visitor to this city and country I must say I felt very comfortable here! Feels truly authentic and it was absolutely delicious, the staff helped us with the menu in a very kind way. For 3, we ordered a meal of Ribs with 2 sides that were Cole slaw and Mc and cheese, the ribs were stunning! The sides were ok, nothing out of the ordinary. Dishes and glasses were disposable which I am not a fan of. It was an enjoyable lunch!
Cute little BBQ place in Mountain View, close to the 101 freeway. The brisket was moist and flavorful, and the Mac and cheese and bread were both delicious. However, the tri-tip was over cooked and not seasoned well. The parking lot is small and undergoing some construction, so limited parking spots.
Came here before a concert. Thought I would try it. Was pretty good, better than the places I've tried in San Francisco. The brisket and pork ribs, definitely had that smoky flavor and were good cuts of meat. Potato salad could use some help along with the mac and cheese. Service wasn't the greatest either, but i may go back when I go to another concert.
A friend had this place at work event, and recommended it, so stopped in to try it out. Stopped in around 5 so it wasn't very busy. Since it was our first time we asked what was popular and the guy at the desk told us brisket and ribs. My sister decided to try the gaucho sandwich with brisket. I decided to try burnt ends, my kid wanted a hot dog, and my friend decided on baked potato with burnt ends and a soda. This place has Stubborn soda. I have never tried and my friend normally doesn't order soda so I knew it must have been good so we all got sodas. When I got to the fountain machine I saw Cola, diet cola, citrus hibiscus orange, classic root beer, agave vanilla cream, black cherry tarragon, and pineapple cream soda. Now that's what I call artisan soda! The pineapple cream soda caught my eye so I decided to try that, OMG so good. My friend got black cherry and that was also pretty good. My sister had taken my kid to bathroom while I was ordering so i let them get their own soda but I let them try mine first and they both got the pineapple soda too. The baked potato was huge. The gaucho sandwich with brisket was really flavorful. The burnt ends was my least favorite, it was a little tough so I probably wouldn't order that again. But I would definitely get the brisket again. Overall food was good, staff was friendly, and soda was great.
This little gem was a perfect treat! Who would have thought a bbq spot was open at 7am. What pulled me in even more was that they had customers at 7:30(no line but a few inside and some door dashes on the counter) The menu sayd biscuit breakfast sandwich but it arrived on a brioche bun. I wasn’t mad but I do wonder what a biscuit version would have tasted like. The brisket was awesomeness, ridiculously tender with and without the sauce it’s a go.

The food is great. But when I try to call in an order in the morning, they don't answer the phone. They shouldn't advertise to open at 7:00, if they won't take your order then. Tried calling at 7:05, no answer. Then again at 7:15, still no answer. By 7:25, I had physically made it there, only to find the cashier standing there looking at his phone. Other than that, he helped me and his service in person was good. But some of us are on the go, heading to work and would prefer to avoid the wait. Food was delicious, though.

I got the burnt ends, and the brisket. Apparently 7 ounces of each but it felt like a lot less. Burnt ends (6/10): I was extremely pleased when I saw this on the menu because you know a bbq establishment is legit when they have burnt ends on the menu. But burnt ends drenched in bbq sauce??? That’s heresy! The saccharine sweetness of the sauce masked whatever minuscule smoke had seeped into the meat. Brisket (6/10): The brisket was cooked really well. Fell apart in my mouth. But as alluded to before I couldn’t really taste much smokiness. There isn’t much of a smoke ring too. It’s only vaguely there on one of the sides. The seasoning was sub par. If I’d never been to Texas, I’d give this spot 4 stars. But having lived in Texas for the last couple of years I’d say this is a solid 3. In Texas you can smell a bbq spot from across the block! This isn’t there, at least not yet. —— @eddythefoodcritic
Uniqueness: Classic BBQ spot, but nothing particularly innovative Wait Time: [x][x][x][x][x] (Instant seating, felt more like a takeout spot) Food Quality: [x][x][x][ ][ ] Service: [x][x][x][x][ ] Setting: [x][x][x][ ][ ] Cost: [x][x][x][x][ ] Came in expecting some solid BBQ, and while the brisket had a nice smoky flavor, the biggest letdown was that everything was cold. It really took away from the experience—BBQ should be fresh, hot, and juicy, not feel like it’s been sitting around. Service was friendly, but with hardly anyone in the restaurant and food coming out quickly, it was clear this place operates more like a takeout spot. The setting was basic, nothing special, and not really a place where you’d want to hang out for long. For the price, I expected better execution. If they focused on serving food hot and fresh, it could be a solid go-to, but as it stands, it’s hard to justify coming back.

Only item that was edible was the coleslaw. Even the so-called cornbread looked and tasted nothing like cornbread. The chicken was dry and tasteless and they didn’t even ask if I wanted a breast or leg. I always prefer legs but got a breast. I am used to authentic BBQ in Texas and Arizona, this is far from real BBQ.
Ordered the Labor Day Hustler Pack takeout, which included our choice of chicken, brisket and ribs with coleslaw and potato salad. This is a Neiborhood restaurant I wanted to try and support. All the meats were hard and dry, tasting like they had been prepared days ago and reheated ever since. The seasoning was just ok and the sides were unspectacular and tasteless, most definitely the worst coleslaw I have ever had. Most of the $87.57 meal hit the garbage can. Such a shame and a huge disappointment. I should have read the yelp 1 and 2-star reviews.
