On our final day visiting San Jose, we made the decision to explore a local city diner. Lo and behold, we stumbled upon a charming establishment aptly named City Diner. Intrigued, we decided to stop by and indulge in a few items for lunch. To our delight, the shakes we ordered were nothing short of extraordinary, bursting with flavors that left our taste buds in awe. Accompanying our shakes, we savored a mouthwatering burger and a variety of other good items. The staff at City Diner impressed us with their professionalism and warm, friendly demeanor. The diner was truly unique, creating an inviting atmosphere. If we were living in San Jose, we would undoubtedly become a regular food visit from us.

Came for a late lunch/early dinner. Greeted immediately by amicable staff. Lots to choose from for the menu. Decided to order the california burger on sour dough bread, was cooked well and moist. Ambiance was nice, cozy with the casual classic era of sorts. Plenty of parking. Great new ownership with a vision to stay modern and keep customers coming back for more!

This hidden gem has amazing food and super cool atmosphere. You can feel the vibe in the wall decor, the food, the music, even the ketchup bottle. We loved the service and the food. The chicken and waffles are glorious, soft and crunchy with a spicy syrup 🤍, we also got the San Francisco sandwich, which was very good too. The highlight for me was the strawberry malt milkshake, must. Great place, we will be coming back for sure.

This is such a nice restaurant that’s close to home. We had a nice breakfast and great coffee, our servers were great too, very pleasant and not afraid to talk to you. The decor is a blast from the past, very amusing and nostalgic. We will become regulars there!

This diner is a very nice place. It’s like a little gem in a not so nice area. We went there several times and we never got disappointed. Staff is always friendly, food is great and tasty. The portions are big. I would go there again and again.

Eggs were cooked well, bacon was stale and pancakes were undercooked. Service was lackluster good ambiance though.. for what u pay it could have been better..

The male server was amazing. Very attentive to details and make sure to always top up my drink. First time in the place and he guided me through the order. The reason for the 3 star is for the female server, im vietnamese and i noticed that she is noticeable more attentive to the white folks, i was waiting at the entrance for 15 minute in front of her waiting for a place to sit while a white family comes in after me and was immediately seated by her. The food is decent, the atomsphere was good.

First visit in over 10 years. I remember going when it first opened and wasn't impressed then and nothing has changed. Well, maybe the service personnel is better. The food not so much. I would put the City Diner in the same category as IHOP and Denny's but way more expensive.
