I reserved the semi private lounge area last month for a dinner celebrating my graduation from SJSU, and I could not have been happier with how it all went! The reservation process with Rachel was straightforward and she did a fantastic job getting everything set up and planning pre-ordered apps, entrees, and dessert for my group of 25. The group order minimum was very reasonable, especially considering the excellent service! Throughout the evening, the servers were attentive and my guests loved the food. We were able to order drinks from our server or from the bar itself. I have been to District many times before for happy hours and drinks, now I can highly recommend it for dinners and larger groups. Thank you, District SJ!
Great restaurant with a vibrant ambience and nice location. It's in the heart of downtown San Jose. The staff is extremely friendly, we were 30 mins late from the reservation time but they warmly accommodated us. Food was great. We have shrimp, risotto, pizza, chicken wings and a nice chocolate whipped dessert. Food was really nice minus the chicken wings. We sent it back and the server was very cordial about it. Shrimp and risotto were the highlights. Their bar area is super nice with comfortable seating. There is an underground multi level parking at 2 mins walk. Overall a great location, services were great and staff was very friendly, I would go back again!
Nice large outdoor dining area. We came by for a light dinner after going to a show in the area. Lots of great options. We ended up getting deviled eggs, whipped burrata, and elote corn. Everything tasted great and service was good! Will definitely come back to check out the other options we didn't get to try.
What a great spot in downtown San Jose!! We were in town for the NHL All-Star game and simply walking around the city for a bite to eat. This place looked busy, it was a for a good reason... awesome food and great drinks. We had the mushroom pizza, the crispy chicken wings and the maple bacon flatbread. Food was great but the drinks were some of the best we've ever had. Service was also awesome. Definitely a pleasant experience and highly recommend stopping by!!
Visited District during Holiday season - December 2025 Party Size : 4 Dishes we tried - Warm Beet Salad: 4/5 - Gambas Ajillo : 4/5 - Lamb Meatballs : 4/5 - District Burger : 3/5 We were seated quickly considering it was a weekday and we did not have reservations. The food was delicious and service was prompt and friendly. Overall , great experience. Highly recommend this place if you are in San Jose downtown near San Pedro Square Market.
We stopped by during their Dine Downtown promo.. I tried the Elote (fried street corn), Caesar salad, and lemon risotto all flavorful and satisfying. My friend went with a classic burger. For cocktails we had the Detox which was refreshing. Overall, the food was good and the vibe was relaxed.
Please note for transparency the 6% SJ Mandate that is added PRIOR to the subtotal. Adjust your tips accordingly and DO NOT overtip and esp. never tip on top of taxes and fees. 6% is higher than some places charge in Santana Row. Now the review… Good food and friendly staff. Have been here many times. The wings and pizza are quite good. Drinks are good (I did not order this time). Items are order à la carte. Most items are quite good and ample selection. Pretty reasonable prices. Good social atmosphere. Gets very crowded during SAP events and on a Friday and Saturday so expect there to be a wait.
The food and drinks were good, with plenty of vegetarian options to choose from. The ambiance was fantastic—warm and inviting without being overly crowded during our visit. However, I’m taking away one star because our server didn’t inform us when the kitchen closed. We were looking forward to dessert, only to find out it was no longer available when we tried to order. A small detail, but it would’ve made the experience that much better.
This is in the San Pedro square. Pretty awesome place to hangout with friends and the food is very good. They do have vegetarian options too. Friendly staff. I am not sure if it was the manager or who, he gave us a free dessert as we did not like the strawberry rhubarb as it was too toffee crunchy. But the chocolate mousse is to die for. Their arancini is wonderful too and the pizza's I felt were freshly baked delicious. Ambience is very good. Definitely would go visit the restaurant again.
District is a pretty solid spot to grab a bite (especially later at night). The deviled eggs were absolutely incredible right off the bat, and the rest of the food was also quite good. The restaurant itself was nice and spacious, with plenty of seating. It wasn’t overly loud either. My one complaint was the service… it wasn’t like anyone was rude to us or anything. The issue was more that everything took ages. Even stuff as simple as getting refills on water. That said, the staff was all friendly and the food was good. I’d absolutely come back.
We stopped by on a Tuesday evening without a reservation. While we are able to walk right in, there seemed to be an expectation that a reservation be made ahead of time. The place was relatively empty. Service was friendly. It was a little slow. Nice selection of drinks. However, they were out of the first three beers that I asked for. The food was good. We tried a buffalo burger and fish. Cooked well and filling. I am glad we tried it. There are a lot of options in the area, so I am not sure I would go back.
Bustling hangout spot, with modern decor that has both indoor and outdoor seating areas. Menu is comprised of sharable small plates, and we tried several items that were good: hanger steak, scallops, pork belly sliders, and fried chicken sliders. However, the service was suboptimal, as several orders were not processed correctly, utensils were missing, and used plates were not proactively replaced. Parking was easy, but it was a Monday night so not sure what it’s like for a weekend night.
Interesting restaurant, we had dinner here during a Monday and almost ordered the entire menu, food was fresh and we liked most of it, like most of the US though most of it is fried / deep fried with not many options for people on a diet. I really recommend the Aranchini and the salads, the Steak took some time to get to our table and was OK, a bit too overcooked for my taste. Pricing was high and if you're not from the US you'll be surprised the the extras, we had a large group fee 20% added to our bill as we were a group of 6, there was a normal tax added and another San Jose 6% tax on top, all of this was before adding the Tip. Last call for food order was 20:00 which was early I guess. See photos for all the meal options
If you need a quiet place from the crowd, this is the place! Not comparable to the one in SF in terms of food, drinks, and service, but it's pretty the only bar nearby without deafening music. It's a place for a conversation. However, the drinks are a bit lackluster and the food is a little too salty. Bonus Tip, they charge round 9% living wage fee.
Came here with a reservation for 8:45pm on a Saturday. The bar was packed. There were plenty of tables to sit at. The hostess and the server were very nice and friendly. My friend wanted to experience the restaurant week(Jul 11-21) which is part of the 16th Annual Dine Downtown San Jose event. I chose this restaurant based on the good reviews on the food. Since we did come here to take advantage of the restaurant week promotion with restaurants offering prix fixe menus which consist of their more popular food selection at a more attractive price, naturally we tried both the options offered for the event at this restaurant. Everything is served full size. However, I was not impressed with the taste of the food. The food tasted ok, but nothing to rave about. From the deviled eggs to the grilled hanger-steak, they tasted normal, just not any better than other restaurants that I have eaten those dishes before. Actually, the deviled egg was a little tart, the spinach on the sides of the hanger-steak was too salty, and the steak was overcooked. Pizza looks like it came out of the frozen pizza box. The extra topping of Italian sausage that my friend request to be added on the pizza and the shrimp on the gambas al ajillo were bland. Food overall was unimpressive and not memorable. I’m just sharing my own experience…perhaps it is different for others. Since it was a Saturday night, the street was very lively and noisy with loud music. The same was true at this restaurant. It was however not too loud that you can’t have a conversation. Again, the staff provided good service at the restaurant but since I’m just not impressed with the food, therefore I can’t recommend.
We made a reservation through Resy for 8:30 PM and arrived at 8:20 PM. Upon arrival, we were told our table would not be ready for another 15–20 minutes, but that we could wait at the bar. We ended up waiting over an hour, during which time we saw several tables remain empty, yet we were never seated. My wife has had spinal surgery, and sitting on high bar stools causes her discomfort and pain, which made the prolonged wait especially frustrating. While the service from the staff was polite and attentive, the situation itself was very disappointing. Despite having a reservation, we were never given a table. We ultimately decided to leave because it was late and we were hungry. Had we been seated as reserved, we would have stayed longer and ordered more. Unfortunately, this experience left us with a very poor impression of how reservations are handled.
I have a nut allergy and let them know when i was ordering. I specifically asked if I could order the brussels sprouts without the pine nuts. They said yes they are able to make it without the nuts. My order came I started eating and then I noticed there were small white ovals in the dish. I asked them to double check and they said that they weren’t nuts and that they were raisin grapes…… they were 100% pine nuts. My allergy is serious and it was not taken seriously. I left the restaurant.
Unfortunately, this was a very disappointing experience. The food quality was extremely poor and did not taste fresh at all. The cheese on the pizza seemed old and had a strong, unpleasant smell, the pizza itself was soggy, and the fries were burnt. Even the drink was disappointing—it was mostly ice and water with no real flavor. Overall, the ingredients did not feel fresh or high quality, and the meal was not enjoyable. I would not recommend this place based on our experience.
