We tried a bit of everything and it was all great. Chicken, beef and goat was all well spiced and delicious. Staff was friendly and went out of their way to accommodate. My kids scarfed down a bit of everything and we had lots of leftovers. They loved watching the trains go by as we ate. Wish it wasn't so far from my house because I'd be there every weekend!

Went in at 11:45am on a Tuesday, no problems parking, plenty of space in the free parking lot Food was excellent, had the Beef Suqaar, Jubba Chicken Wrap, Mandazi & Sambusa Service was solid, you order at the counter and the food is delivered your table. Tables were initially a bit dirty/sticky but was wiped down soon after. Atmosphere was great, no loud music and is excellent for big groups of people loudly chatting

Discover the flavors of Africa at this fantastic halal restaurant! Their Somalian dishes are incredibly tasty and flavorful. I have tried everything on the menu, and each dish has been a delight. The Roasted Goat Cutlet with Rice is my absolute favorite. If you are planning to dine here, be sure to set aside some time, as the chefs take their time to prepare each meal to perfection.

Its a literal gem. The food was delicious. Very straight forward concept. Order at the counter, give you a number and they bring your food at the table. Will definitely go again.

Food was great! Random location and resturant itself doesn't look that nice. You order at the counter. All the food was amazing and such large portions. The kay key and beef suqaar were the best.

This restaurant is a neighborhood gem. Sitting besides VTA station, very close to residential zones. Food is awesome! The beef and lamb are on the fatty side, but the seasoning and cooking is really good. Sambusa is special and delicious. It is a mix of veggies, hot peppper and beef. Not like lamb samosa in Central Asia or potato samosa in India. All dishes we ordered are spicy except for Kay Kay! Banana brings sweetness to this dish. Services are ok. Basically you order, take a number card then find a seat. The staff did not check too often, we waited a while for table cleaning. But it is ok. The only complain is that they do not turn on AC! It was very hot inside the store. But only limited sitting outside.

Randomly found this place searching for somewhere to eat dinner. We like to try new places and boy I’m glad I we did! The food here is delicious! People were very nice and made a suggestion on a dish for us. Only downside was no air conditioning inside. Very hot. We sat outside at their outdoor seating which was very nice. (Weather was great) We had the #2 Beef Suqaar and #6 Tilapia Filets. Came with grilled vegetables, rice, and salad. Both so delicious! They also had a spicy sauce on the side that was so good! It is a hidden spot with no website, but they had a lot of customers coming in and out when we were there. They need to advertise because so many people are missing out! Will definitely go back to this restaurant!

Wow, I just ran into this East African / Somali restaurant. It is not far from where I live but hidden in an out of the way area - you kind of need to know where to find it. It has a simple uncomplicated menu with a relatively small selection to choose from, and no specialty drinks to speak of. However, we got a Beef Suqaar and a Jubba Fish wrap. The spices used to cook the beef were excellent, I loved it ! The fish wrap was equally good, you can't go wrong with either. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I would easily recommend this place for all you foodies out that, as well those who simply like good food.

Honestly, EVERY dish we tried was AMAZING. We got: 1. Sambosa--huge and flavorful 2. Beef steak with injera Somali bread (DELCIOUS) 3. Sports plate (meat combo plate) with chicken and goat cutlet. Both meats were finger-licking. We got a mix of the spaghetti and rice--both of which were super tasty but I like the rice more. Even though this place is far from where we live (45 min drive), I'm now looking for an excuse to be in San Jose again just to go back!! I want to try their fish next time as I hear it's amazing too. Only down side of the place is because of popular it is, it did get a little crowded and hence hot on the inside. AND (this is I give service 4 stars, they don’t give you water—you have to buy your own. So make sure to come with a huge water bottle). But the owners are so chill they let some customers bring tables outside to eat 👏🏽

We visited this restaurant and ordered the chicken wraps and roasted goat cutlet, and the food was absolutely incredible. Everything was bursting with flavor and perfectly seasoned. The chicken was tender, the goat was beautifully spiced, and even the rice had an amazing taste with just the right amount of seasoning. It felt like true comfort food, and my husband and I enjoyed every single bite until the plates were completely clean. What made the experience even better is that the food is halal, which is always a big plus for us. The blend of spices was spot on, with each dish full of depth and aroma without being overwhelming. The restaurant offers both indoor and outdoor seating, and there is plenty of parking available, which adds to the convenience. The prices are slightly on the higher side, but considering the quality, taste, and portion sizes, it feels completely worth it. The food left such a lasting impression that we could not stop talking about it afterward. It is the kind of place that makes you want to come back again and again. Overall, a fantastic spot for delicious halal food and a truly satisfying dining experience.

+ The Roasted Goat Cutlet plate ($22.99) with Chapati was very tasty. (I'll attribute my dislike for the chunks of fat on the meat as a cultural difference, and not downgrade the 5-star flavor score) The Green sauce added an unexpected level of heat but it was a good fit for the dish. + The Sambusa ($3.00/each), a wonderful flaky dough triangle filled with meat and vegetables, was also quite tasty. More, next time! + Mandazi ($2.00) puffed Fried bread rectangle, was interesting to try... so, now I know what it is. The staff were friendly and easygoing. - The restroom was missing soap, but aside from some graffiti, the room looked clean. - The VTA Light Rail "Blue Line" Ohlone-Chynoweth station is across the service road from the restaurant. VTA Bus route 201 stops at the parking lot. 2025-May

Very impressed with the food and the flavors! We got steak plate with pasta and it was very interesting. The beef was a bit hard and lacked salt but it came with a lot of spaghetti, veggies, & salad. Overall the steak was 3/5. We also got the Sports Platter with Chicken & Goat Cutlet, along with Chapati & Rice. Chapati was really soft and a good change from same old Naan/Parathas. The rice was very flavorful & delicious. Chicken was one of the most delicious chicken I’ve had. I will give the chicken 10/10. The Goat cutlets were roasted goat pieces and they were good. It’s an acquired taste so if you are not used to of having Goat then be open-minded about this one. I give the Goat 4/5. The platter was huge and more than enough for 2 people with lots of Salad, veggies, & rice. I can definitely come back for their chicken!
