There bread is exactly what I like. Meats are always good. Pretty roomy. Parking is excellent. Right now buy 3 sandwiches get 1 free. I also got egg coffee is really really good. Good deal. Linh’s recommend 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Probably the best vietnamese sandwich. I had the egg coffee for the first time. Delicious. I enjoyed the atmosphere. Recommend!
This sandwich shop is located on the busy street of Capitol expressway of San Jose. First time trying out this Vietnamese sandwich shop, this place is amazingly unbelievable!! Ordered roasted pork sandwiches with black tea! The sandwich is made fresh upon order. The bread is baked with roasted pork, also comes with fresh sliced radish, sliced carrots and cilantros. You can ask for sugar level for your drink. Overall, everything tasted delicious and I will not hesitate to come back again!
Got sandwich #1. It was tasty, I'd get it again. I wanted to compare "grilled beef" versus "grilled chicken", unfortunately, there wasn't a grilled chicken option on the menu. Maybe I'll submit an RFE and see if they will humor me next time. Did you know there's two options for your sandwich? This was totally new to me. If you plan on eating it soon, they will assemble it with all the veggies stuffed into the sandwich. If you plan on eating the sandwich later, they will put the veggies into a plastic bag to keep the bread from getting mushy. Then once you get home you can assemble the sandwich and enjoy. My coworkers tell me its best to pop it into the toaster over to help crisp up the bread a little if there had been a delay between getting the sandwich and eating it.
There was a line on Sunday afternoon but it moves constantly so the wait wasn't bad. Ordered the bánh mì thịt nguội (combination baguette) and lucked out by getting one of their last chả lụa (vietnamese ham) for the hour. It was a convenient meal before our flight home, got to enjoy them at the airport. Definitely coming here again next time we're in San Jose. Favorite part about this place is that despite having a lot of people waiting to order or pickup they have a mic announcing who's number is ready at the pickup window, so it's organized service despite the crowd.
Good selection of boba tea and smoothies as well as banh mi sandwiches. It's easy to order the tea following their guide. The service is friendly and fast.
This is our favorite Banh Mi shop. Their bread is crisp with the right amount of chew and softness. Additionally, we appreciate the generous amount of fresh veggies and tasty meats. My favorite is the #1 (grilled pork), but we’ve had the combo and others as well.
My partner and I had a great lunch here! Banh mi are less than $8 and generously sized with fresh bread and good amounts of meat and toppings. We really liked the interior decor, from cozy wicker benches to stools to cafe tables. Modern v-pop plays quietly in the background and staff are fast and helpful. We're definitely coming back to get more sandwiches and try some drinks.
Pho Papa never disappoints! The food is absolutely delicious, full of authentic flavor, and always fresh. Every dish tastes like it’s made with care, from the rich, comforting pho broth to the perfectly cooked meats and fresh toppings. On top of the amazing food, the service is excellent—friendly, attentive, and quick. The staff makes you feel welcome and valued every time. Highly recommend Pho Papa if you’re looking for great food and outstanding service! Our favorite place everytime we visit San Jose.
This is my husband's favorite for beef pho. If you check the menu, there is only beef pho but you can choose the beef cuts you like in the broth. It has been consistently tasty and satisfying. Service is nice and efficient. It gets crowded but it is one of the better ones for pho in the area.
Someone told me that this was the best Pho place in town. I also Googled "Where is the best Pho restaurant in San Jose, CA," and this came up. So I had BIG expectations. This was going to be my second time eating Pho. Well, it was delicious! It's really great, in fact. The broth was so tasty, and the noodles were perfect. The meat? Great, too! The only minus was the atmosphere since it felt a little cramped. Tables are a little too close. But that didn't take away from the tasty food. I would recommend it. Don't know if it's"the best" in San Jose, CA... but for me, it was great.
Pho Papa was our first visit to this Vietnamese pho restaurant. We thought Christmas Day might be less busy, but when we arrived around 1 PM, there was still a wait. However, opting for outdoor seating allowed us to be seated more quickly. The pho broth was incredibly rich and flavorful, leaving a lasting impression. The bean sprouts and Thai basil provided were noticeably more generous than other restaurants, and the lime slices were larger and fresher. Adding extra lime juice brightened the broth even more, enhancing its depth with a refreshing tang. I ordered the small bowl #1, which came with a variety of beef cuts and tender beef tendon. The flavors and textures were absolutely delicious. I also added an order of beef ribs, which were served in a separate bowl filled with broth and topped with plenty of green onions. The meat was tender and fall-off-the-bone, making it a memorable addition to the meal.
The pho here is fantastic! Especially if you opt for the combo and request to add meatballs—it takes the flavor to a whole new level! The only thing that's missing? Spring rolls! Keep in mind, this place gets really crowded during lunch hours, so it's best to arrive early if you want to savor your hot soup without the rush.
This was the best Pho EVER!! Small, clean, co comfortable spot. Went on a Sunday so it was packed! LOVED the atmosphere and table with benches set up. Now, this place only serves BEEF Pho. One veggie Pho. So. If you can't eat beef move on. I got the Oxtail Pho and the other got the all meat one. Super flavorful. Service isn't the best. No one came to check on us one time! No problem. The food was still 💯 Better SERVICE PHO PAPA 😉
An authentic rice noodle restaurant that sells only rice noodles as a single menu. It's really delicious. It was a bit disappointing because there was no appetizer, but it was a satisfactory meal. Next time, I'll ask them to cook bean sprouts. The soup cooled too quickly. I highly recommend you to go there.
Stopped by to get some bánh mì for the road back to OC. We thought OC prices were going expensive but nope, SJ beats us for sure. Nice clean, small store that share with the coffee shop and they have the special deal coffee & bánh mì for $13. We got that with BA CHỈ Roasted Pork Belly & VNese hot milk café or cà phê sữa nóng. The sandwich is thick filled with a lot of veggies, just couple slices of meat. The bread is good when it hot but if you leave it within 10mins with cold weather it just hard and chewy (just needs to reheat if you are at home or have oven to heat it up for coupe mins). Well combined and tasty, just wish they would added a little bit more of pâté since it was little. Service was good - you do self order but unfortunately, their machine is not working and the couple infront of us had hard time for 5-7mins before realized that it didn't work. The staff behind the counter came over and helped since the line if 3 became 6 and the entrance door opens with cold cold air. Service is nice and friendly, the turnaround took around 7-10mins since I only see 2 fronts staffs and 1 or 2 in back. The place had small seating area in the corner looking through the Main Street or the other side w/ the coffee shop overlooking the parking. Overall, it was okey bánh mì and good service in a cute store.
The bánh mì is good. Lots of cilantro in it. I'm not a cilantro person. But that's just personal preference... I remove some of it, it's perfect. I like this place. Wish the drink was less sweet. Also had a cilantro taste at the end for some reason, didn't like that Pork banh mi: 9.5/10 Winter melon oolong: 7/10
I love bahn mi sandwiches and this place didnt disappoint me. Loved their drinks too. Must go
The addition of Trung Nguyên Legend coffee is a glow up for the store. Although it does not pop up on Google maps and should probably be done so if more coffee sales are desired. New seating and very good viet coffee, but a lil pricey. Sandwiches are good as always. One star off as floors are always dirty here. Keep the floor clean of food debris should be a priority here to maintain the vibe.
Bright space with limited seating. Fast and friendly service. Shopping complex could get crowded; so, it may be hard to find parking on weekends. Pork Bánh mi was great. Fresh vegetables inside and crisp bread.
Fantastic quick spot for banh mi sandwiches! Food: we got two banh mi sandwiches, one pork, the other pork belly. The flavor is so on point I wanted to eat more than one sandwich! The roll could have been a bit better (it tasted like they were bought at a grocery store and then toasted). The price here is fantastic - very cheap with quality ingredients! Milk tea: Not very rich and definitely recommend going somewhere else for your milk tea / boba Seating: limited seating indoors (definitely still socially distancing), and no dedicated seating outdoors
Their Vietnamese sandwiches aren't bad. It is decently sized with ample ingredients. In terms of taste, it was only meh. We had much better Vietnamese sandwiches at other cafes in San Jose. I did enjoy the durian shake with added jelly. In terms of service, it did take a while for them to make our sandwiches. The cashier was really busy. She jumped from collecting money, answering the phone and help make some of the sandwiches. She was nice but I had a hard time understanding what she was saying through her face mask and the plastic slit where we can hand her the cash. It felt like I was at a gas station. I had no idea what she was saying to me nor could she ring my order up correctly. They could really use one of those electronic screens like at a supermarket checkout where the customer can see what they ordered.
Great sandwich fresh baguette made daily in the morning and lunch is the best time while the bread is still fresh I reccomend the #1 grilled pork... the jalapeno they put in the sandwich is spicy so watch out...
It's a decent spot to get some pho in San Jose! Seating is pretty cramped and there can be a long waitlist on the weekends, but it's worth a visit! The broth can be on the oily side, but the flavor is good! Light and not too salty. They are really generous with the portion of beef! Almost more beef than noodles!! The beef rib special is yummy and high quality! The two of us shared this and it was FALL OFF THE BONE tender!
12/13/2024* Everything tastes amazing, and the service is impressively quick. The moment I was seated, the waiter was ready to take my order right at my table. The Pho Pap’s #1 Beef Noodle Soup was fantastic! The soup base was flavorful and clear, without being too salty. The combination of steak, brisket, flank, tendons, and fat brisket was a great mix of textures, and the fresh herbs, bean sprouts, chilies, and lemon juice really elevated the dish! 8/26/2024 I tried Pho Pap's #1 Beef Noodle Soup, and it left quite an impression! The soup base was both flavorful and clear, which I appreciated. Unlike some other places, it didn't leave me feeling overly salty afterward. That's definitely a plus! The combination of raw steak, well-done brisket, flank, tendons, and fat brisket provided a delightful mix of textures. But what really stole the show were the fresh additions: basil, bean sprouts, chilies, and a squeeze of lemon juice. Each bite felt like a new flavor adventure! It's a cozy spot with efficient service, and their Beef Noodle Soup is a winner
Pho is above just OK but under impressive. I ordered big flat noodles and they came out quite broken and not in the long string form, I can hardly use chopsticks for the noodles. Soup is good, just need a bit more flavor in my opinion. Place was also clean and decor looked a bit like some Japanese restaurants. Will come back occasionally.
I think it comes down to taste preference and what you're used to. I got the grilled pork bahn mi, which I get everywhere. They make it different here. Their marinade is more sweet than what I'm used to and the texture was soft, like it was tenderized. The bread was great (but not better bread than other sandwich shops), and the veggie fillings pretty good. Little sweet. Little spicy. Service was ok; they were relatively fast considering how busy they are. Kiosk ordering was too slow. The restaurant itself is clean and kind of semi modern. Places to sit to eat, as well as sit to wait. I notice they also have those green waffles which I think I'll try next time; wasn't that hungry this time.
It was full on a Saturday night and I had to queue up, so I thought it would be pretty good. I will said the price is good , $15 for regular size , soup base is great ( feel like no MSG ,not thirsty), meat was ok , noodles texture a little bit harder. Table is small , very near each other . They need to take care of clean job .
Sandwiches are too sweet! I ordered 2 kinds of sandwich, both are so sweet. One of them is pork BBQ, OMG! feel like I am eating a dessert cake. Cashier is just fine, doesn’t smile nor wants to welcome customer. Only 1 positive point is they accept credit/debit card.
We came in around 6:30 PM in the evening for dinner. The restaurant ran out of meat since it’s toward the end of day. The place loses at 8 PM. So what did they do?…. They cut off the meat serving with the phở bowl. There was nothing special about my special phở except there was no meat and the right types of meat that it’s usually served. Very disappointed to pay full price for what the phở! Business cutting corner like this will not last too long.
So disappointed hard to see my meat on the sandwiches for $7.50 and like I am eating veggie sandwich.
The sandwiches here really are great, but the customer service is atrocious. We ordered 40 sandwiches from them, the quality and consistency was not there. We come almost every week for their sandwiches, but if you order in bulk or catering, beware and go somewhere else. The quality is not the same, this small shop cannot handle large orders, some sandwiches remain consistent with their standards but most were under par or substandard. They skimp on ingredients, especially the meat, there were definitely less meat in most of our order, the grilled pork and pork belly orders barely had 4 small pieces in each sandwich, my guests all complained and showed us their sandwiches to verify. The first time we called to request for a manager to complain, they hung up on us, after repeated calls the manager finally answered, she stated she will investigate the incident and notify her staff. The shop is great for small lunch orders but don't ever place large orders here, you will get minimal ingredients for the same price.
