Their coco shrimp is amazing. Food portion is quite big so order per person would be enough. Pina colada is also great. Fun place to hang out!
I have absolutely nothing bad to say about this place. The ownership is too notch and they engage in their customers. The food is absolutely delicious and the personalities you encounter make this place worth every second. If you do not stop at this place while on the island you are doing yourself a disservice. The only downside is they are patriots fans. I will forgive them for that because they are amazing. GO BRONCOS. Thank you for being so welcoming and wonderful.
Great views and great foods - the vegetarian options (rice bowl and black bean burger) are both remarkably tasty and worth getting!! As with all Vieques joints, the place is popular so go early
What's not to like about this restaurant. Great views, music, open air breeze. Staff was very nice, service was swift, food, drinks and dessert was best on the island. The coconut rice bowl with shrimp was full of flavor with fresh avocado, kiwi, watermelon, and yummy spice sauce. The fudge brownie sundae also did not disappoint. Highly recommend this place!
Excellent choice. Stopped in for lunch immediately upon arriving on the ferry. Been thinking about the fish tacos ever since. Service and ambience are spot on. Highly recommend.
If you are looking for something different in Vieques this is the place you are looking for. The service was amazing, I ordered the coconut rice with salmon, delicious and the taste was very different. They have cocktails and wine varieties. The view of the mountains goes very well with the type of food they serve!
I was very pleasantly surprised. The place is very pleasing to the eye, has a great vibe, and very well decorated. I sat at the bar. Service was great and the bar tender was very attentive. Very good selection of beer wine and cocktails. The food was really good and the chef went out of his way to make to make an outstanding impression. 10/10 Edit: I forgot to mention this is without a doubt the best place on the island to watch a game.i highly recommend the coconut shrimp for an appetizer.
Mano Taphouse and Gastropub in Puerto Rico offers a delightful culinary experience with its diverse menu and impressive craft beer selection. The ambiance is cozy yet vibrant, perfect for casual dining or a night out. Dishes are creatively prepared, blending local flavors with gourmet twists. Service is friendly and attentive, enhancing the overall experience. A must-visit for food and beer enthusiasts.
Very nice spot with a vantage point towards Vieques and can even spot Culebra island. We took nachos for appetizers (biggest I had ever), grilled code sandwich and coconut rice bowl. The latter was overpriced for what it offered. Parking is available. Owner was very nice and let us pick some star fruits from the garden.
Visited on Sunday 1/29/23 to watch NFL playoff game, and because place wasn't open during our previous visit to Vieques in March 2021. Place was very busy due to game, but we were seated right away and service was prompt. We had nachos for an appetizer, I had fish & chips, and my wife had the fish sandwich. We both had margaritas and shared the brownie sundae. Overall, great atmosphere and very friendly and attentive staff. Fish could've used a little extra salt/seasoning, but overall, food and drinks were very good. Will definitely go back again the next time we visit the island.
This was our first stop after arriving on the island and picking up our rental, it was the perfect place for our lunch stop. The space was nice, the staff was kind, and the food was so delicious! I had the BLT with cheese and the over easy egg and I couldn’t recommend it more!! Stop by if you get a chance.
Our first visit to this mid-island mountain top oasis was so delicious we went back the very same night (in the rain!) for dinner! Our favorite was sitting at the bar, giant plate of nachos, delicious magical Mai Tai and wash it all down with one of their heavenly desserts! Definitely the fanciest, frostiest more delicious Medalla I’ve ever had, even though they are known for their great craft beers on tap- there’s plenty of other delicious drinks if fancy IPAs aren’t your thing. Would eat here all the time if there wasn’t a few thousand miles of ocean between us!
Excellent service and great food from start to finish. Our waiter was attentive, but not over bearing. The margaritas with habañero was spicy and refreshing. They had diet options of coke, sprite, and coco rico. The view is fabulous. The coconut shrimp are massive. The manchego croquets were nice. The Quentin is a solid burger. The rice bowl had a lot going on. The dessert was worth the wait.
I am writing this review as I am sitting on the wonderful outside deck at Mango Taphouse! This is one of my last nights on the island and I am excited to have one last meal from this place! I definitely had a hard time figuring out what I wanted tonight because everything is amazing! I had heard about Mango Tap House from a friend and decided to make it my first stop once I got to the island. After the first meal, I was hooked! The staff were super friendly and very welcoming, the rice bowl and homemade potato chips were fantastic and the mai tai was on-point! I tried quite a few other places in Vieques, but I kept coming back to have more meals at Mango and let me tell you, none of them were disappointing! The coconut shrimp are gigantic and the best I have ever had! The mac and cheese and the chicken wings are the perfect comfort food that just hits the spot if you’re looking for a little taste of home! One of my favorite things about Mango is that they also support the local brewery and rum distillery, so not only can you get the beer and mixed drinks you know and love from home, but you also get the chance to try some of the tasty beers and drinks from Vieques! I could go on and on about this place, but my food has arrived and I am going to sit and enjoy! Mango Taphouse makes you feel like you’re at home and with the wonderful people that work there and the delightful food, once you eat there, you will go back for more! The owners Shawn and Paula have a great thing going and I wish them nothing but success! I will be back to Vieques for another trip and I will definitely stop by Mango to say hello and grab a bite to eat! Cheers!
Oh my! I had read the recommendations, so my expectations were already high. Expectations exceeded! Ali is a fantastic server, helpful and attentive. And the food? I'm running out of superlatives here. For Vieques, this is a high-end place. Call ahead and make a reservation. Enjoy yourselves, the great meal, and the natural world that surrounds you.
Nice view and atmosphere. I felt like the menu was a little limited, but it didn’t matter because the three things we ordered were phenomenal. The coconut shrimp appetizer was perfect with the mango chili sauce (I could have eaten that sauce with a spoon!), and my coconut rice bowl was fresh and light but super tasty. The hubs had the fried mahi, which I didn’t get to taste, but he said he loved it. I highly recommend this place!
Always consistently excellent. We go there every week and love everything on the menu. They have recently added a margarita pizza as an appetizer that one of us sometimes orders as a meal. Can't beat the rice bowl or the tap house salad or the fish and chips or the .... They also have a wide selection of beers on tap, many from Puerto Rico. Drink locally! Finish everything off with the big skillet cookie but eat it with friends as it's huge. We have great experiences there whether we are a group of 10-12 or just the 2 of us. Reservations recommended.
Our favorite restaurant on the island. We had a party of 7 and I called an hour before and they were able to get us in. It's open and had a fantastic breeze with fans. Our waitress was outstanding- she was attentive, kind and had her own unique style. The food was amazing. We loved the coconut shrimp, French onion dip, nachos and coconut rice bowls.
Cool little indoor/outdoor restaurant overlooking the jungle. Very friendly servers with good advice regarding the food. The coconut rice bowls were very well received, although I thought the fish and chips were the bomb. Drinks were creative and quite good. No beer on this trip bc the drink menu was so interesting. We loved it so much we came back on our last day for another amazing meal. This is a can't miss place, but best to get reservations since it's smallish!
Mango Taphouse and Gastropub was my absolute favorite restaurant in Vieques! This is probably going to be a long review, so if you don’t want to read anymore, I will emphasize-MY ABSOLUTE FAVORITE- in Vieques. Mango is located in neither hub of the island. It is closer to Esperanza (Southwest hub on the Caribbean) than Isabelle Secundo (Northeast hub in the Atlantic). Our first of three meals eaten at Mango was on a Monday. It was a lovely overall experience. Dawn greeted us at the front door and seated us. Dawn was also our server. She was the consummate professional and anticipated our every need. On our second visit, Dawn was again our server and she remembered my drink order (iced coffee, half milk, light sugar) from the week before. She also had such an engaging personality that she made the entire experience magical. The first thing we ate was the house made potato chips with caramelized onion dip. They were so delicious that I could have eaten them all on this first visit, but I’m glad I held back! I had the coconut rice bowl with added avocado. It was beautifully presented, with fresh fruit and vegetables that I came across nowhere else on the island. The entire dish was vegan, including the outstanding peanut dressing. My husband had the fried shrimp and French fries, which were apparently awesome. We had plenty left to take back to our apartment. Note: We wanted to go back to Mango the next day (Tuesday) and were (nearly) devastated to see that they were not open! Mango is open Friday through Monday. SO Friday on our second visit, we had Dawn as our server again. I had no room for dessert the first time, but I was intrigued by the desserts listed, so while my husband had the house-made potato chips with caramelized onion dip a second time, I had the BAVARIAN CREAM FILLED CHURROS WITH RASPBERRY AND DARK CHOCOLATE DIPPING SAUCES!!!! If you enjoy sweets more than other food, and are only able to go to Mango one time, I highly suggest eating dessert first! My husband had the same fried shrimp and French fries again. I ate an excellent house made black bean burger. By the way, the potato chips reheated beautifully, as did the churros, shrimp, fries, and black bean burger. My husband tasted my leftover “dessert as an appetizer” churros and agreed it was the best of many desserts on the island. Our third visit was the next Monday, and our second to last day on the island. Dawn was not there, but the bartender who greeted us and also served us was also delightful and attentive. I am sorry I did not get his name. The bartender/greeter/server and I realized that we both grew up near Nashville, Tennessee! My husband had chicken wings and onion rings, and I ate the coconut bowl with avocado again. I loved the churros so much that we got an order to go. I was so intent on my coconut bowl that I did not ask about his wings and onion rings. My husband also had a Puerto Rican-made beer with all his meals. He described what he wanted as a “beer that doesn’t taste like beer,” but more like fruit. Dawn told him her recommendations and she was spot on. I wish I could remember the name of the beer, but Dawn remembered what he liked and he requested “the same one as I had last time.” When the fellow from Middle Tennessee served us, my husband described the beer and he (the bartender-server) knew what he was referring to. If you are a beer aficionado who likes trying different things, you will love it!
We first had lunch here and loved it so much we made a reservation for dinner the next night. Easily our favorite meal on the island. Everything we had was delicious!
Good food in a great location! The service was excellent throughout our meal. The staff are friendly and attentive, with the added above and beyond kindness of the owner Sean, who personally drove us back to Esperanza after the transmission in our rental gave out in the parking lot. Thanks again Sean! You have 2 more loyal fans of your lovely gastropub!
Great value for the $. Food was excellent. Try the bowl , beautifully arranged. Desserts were surprisingly excellent. Service was spot on. Parking is a bit tricky. Use the lot as the roadside is a bit dangerous. Definitely a top 5 spot on Vieques!
Very refreshing food! The house made chips were SO good. The Coconut Rice Bowl has lots of veggies and it's so easy on the stomach. If you're vegetarian/vegan, this place is for you. I was so tired from the usual burgers. For drinks, we ordered mocktails - Coconut Pineapple soda and Coconut Blueberry Cream soda. Delicious.
Incredible place. The views are amazing. The waitresses are super friendly and make wonderful suggestions. We tried the coconut rice bowl wish was so tasty. We tried the grilled salmon sandwich. Their speciality raspberry drink, and for dessert we had the Bavarian churros and tembleke. It's from another world! They made out visit and experience so nice. We even came back the same day for dessert. So worth it. Highly recommended
Our family of 4 stopped here randomly for lunch. My daughter and I shared the coconut rice. Very refreshing. Large portion – plenty enough to share. Eclectic taste that all married to create a healthy and light - but filling - lunch. My husband and son shared a Reuben. Not something you would ordinarily pick on a Caribbean menu. However, it was surprisingly more delicious than any other Reuben we’ve ever had. Service was friendly, prompt, and thoughtful. The restaurant was a little out of the way, but it is a refreshing change to the bustle of the shore. I wouldn’t miss this gem on a trip!
Everything at Mango is always delicious!! It’s clear that the ingredients are fresh, and the food is made to order. Now they’ve added numerous beers on tap, which is kind of unheard of on Vieques! 😅❤️🍻 The skillet-baked chocolate chip cookie with ice cream is a MUST HAVE!!! 🤤 Great weekly food and drink specials as well. Also - Dog friendly! Highly recommended!!
We were very happy with our meal at Mango Taphouse and Gastropub! My partner was very pleased with his Coconut Rice Bowl and my chicken dish (don't remember what it was called) was tasty and really hit the spot. No notes!
Great spot, feels like a mainland US pub and that is reflected in its staff and clientele. Big screen TVs with a variety of games on, very good food and excellent craft beers. Felt like being home for a couple hours, which was nice
The food was really good, best we had on the island. It must be hard to get fresh ingredients here, because most places the food was so so. This restaurant was great though! Best service too, we found that most waiters were kind of grumpy, but not here! We would definitely eat here again! Cookie skillet was really good, forgot to get a pic of it though.
We have been on Vieques for well over two weeks, this was our favorite dining experience. It is a bit out of the way, by that I mean it is not on the beach or in the middle of Isabella Segundo. Maybe its location adds to the appeal. The views are over a peaceful tropical garden. The kitchen is modern, orderly, and spotless. An interesting aside, the bathrooms are perfectly clean and the most modernized we have encountered on this island. Parking is plentiful, the atmosphere is relaxed, and the service is first class. We can not rave enough about our server Dawn who offered comforting, unhurried, personalized service. We loved the food: A must try is “Caramelized onion dip with house-cooked potato chips” We had for main course we had: Fried shrimp, it was perfect, on this island it is sometimes difficult to have fresh tasting seafood. My wife had the coconut rice bowl, she loved it! We regret not being able to try the tempting desserts, we will return soon. This is now our favorite restaurant.
100% recommended. I haven't been to the restaurant yet. But I met the owners at my place of work. Wow, tremendous people and yes they are that good. The service, food and restaurant have to be on another level. I can't wait to go to Vieques to taste the food at Mangos Public House. 100 % recomendado. Todavía no he ido al restaurante.
One of the most relaxing and delicious meals I have had in Vieques. Service was over the top and the outside seating was perfect. Upscale restaurant inside, and they even have a few gambling slot machines. The food is certainly chef created and inspired. We started off with an appetizer of caramelized onion dip, which we all really enjoyed. The mahi-mahi was just the perfect amount of flavor and was freshly grilled. The coleslaw is some of the best I’ve had with a good balance and not too much mayonnaise. Spices were good. The salad would please any vegetarian. Desserts were outstanding as well. I really enjoyed the coconut dessert. It was a hint of coconut and smooth as silk. The brownie was one of the best I’ve had. Moist and a good balance of chocolate. Piña colada‘s are also excellent. Hard to mess up on those though. The next time I go back, I’m going there the first opportunity I have. And I will ask for Ally to wait on us! If you’re thinking about dinner and you’re looking at mangoes, do yourself a favor and try it out. You won’t be disappointed.

This place is a must to go too. The service was wonderful. We had a waitress from Ohio but has lived there for 10 years but has been coming to the island since she was a kid on family trips. Great food. Make reservations since it doesn't get crowded.
I would argue the food in vieques is mid level - but we were incredibly impressed with Mango Taphouse! Food was delicious and fresh. Service was wonderful and we enjoyed the atmosphere!

Great pub atmosphere with excellent food and drinks. Mostly american menu. Good rice bowl and juicy fried chicken. Delicious onion dip and tender fried wings. Best chocolate chip cookie. Not too many healthy choices. Cleanest bathroom on the island. Everyone loved this place.

This place was great! The food and service were perfect. Love the atmosphere! The chocolate martini elixir was delicious. Best nachos ever. The coconut rice bowl +chx egg avocado had the most flavor in any one dish that I've ever eaten. Will definitely go back if on the island.

They have Vegan Options. Though they use same oil to fry vegan and non vegan things, so you can skip on fries, onion rings etc. The Burger Patti they make is completed Vegan without cross contamination and is yummy. We ordered 3 things : 1.Edamame in Pod - 7/10 (Quick Bite) 2.Veg Black Bean Burger - 9/10 (He gave us Coconut Rice on side as the fries would be cross contaminated) 3.Mockarita - 7/10 There was one more Vegan Dish that we missed on but it was good and only these options. I hope they have more on menu soon. Staff was nice and helpful, ambience was serene and fresh.
Great place on the side of the road. Indoor and outdoor options. Had a bar and tap beer Variety of options on the menu even a few Vegetarian. When we showed up for dinner they asked if we had a reservation- beware they did seat us -but good idea to call ahead as it’s a popular spot for folks before bio bay tours and they did have a full reservation list.
We grabbed lunch on the balcony at Mango Taphouse and Gastropub! This gave us a great opportunity to enjoy the beautiful weather, interesting views and experience a lovely fresh breeze. Overall everything that we had was good. The coconut shrimp was fresh, a decent sized portion and also tasty. The coconut rice bowl which I ordered was also good - the flavours from the various ingredients were good, but not as powerful as I would have hoped. Overall is was a healthy and light meal nonetheless- which was good as we were headed to the beach right afterwards.

Wonderful experience. Our waitress Christine is awesome Very knowledgeable about local cuisine and has a background as a Vegan Chef. My wife and I split a salad and we both had massive portions.…

We were eager to try this place, but the hostess said they had a private event. She offered us the bar, and we waited for a seat. While waiting, she said to another waitress, "I already told them NO." It’s confusing why would a guest wait if you said no? Very bad and rude. I want to enjoy my meal with kindness and fairness.
Drove here around 4:30pm - approached the front and the hostess looked at me and walked away. Left waiting only to be told that there is a private event and all the tables in the half empty restaurant are reserved. Notice at the entrance would have been nice so I would not have had to waste my time.
We were eager to try this place, but the hostess told us they were hosting a private event. Still, she offered us the option to sit at the bar. We agreed and patiently waited for a bar seat to become available. While waiting, we approached an empty table, and suddenly the hostess whispered to another waitress, "I already told them NO." It’s confusing—why would a guest wait if you said No. Very bad, rude I want to enjoy my meal where I’m treated with kindness and fairness. Reply to comment: It’s quite disappointing to see that instead of showing professionalism or grace, your team chose to publicly respond with hostility and personal attacks. We waited exactly as your hostess instructed, politely and without complaint. The language used in your reply says far more about your values and hospitality than any review ever could. It’s unfortunate that feedback is met with defensiveness rather than reflection. For a place that claims to take pride in its service, this response does a remarkable job of showing the opposite. Guests remember not the food, but the way they’re treated, and this exchange makes that very clear.
Replying to comment: clearly you have me confused with a different person, as I don't have a child and did not go with a child to your restaurant. I also do not give anyone the side-eye nor did I roll my eyes at any of your employees- it sounds like you had a different unhappy customer. I am just giving honest feedback as I have eaten plenty of good american food and what we had was simply not great. Additionally, charging extra for cheese on a burger is a bit excessive. Que Dios te bendiga!
