Crab cakes and the Boudan egg rolls are amazing!!
For our weekly "dinner out night" we enjoyed Shipwreck Grill. I had the Crawfish combo my spouse had the Fish Grand Isle, along with a side of hush puppies + Shipwreck sauce. All of it was really Good! Our server, Jackson was excellent and kept everything moving along with a smile 😃. Would definitely reccomend! 😋
Hey friends, found another great little place to talk about. I'm traveling through the Bryan , College Station TX area and came across the ShipWreck Grill. Add this to my favorites list. Check out there Boil Pot and chase it down with a slice of Key Lime. You won't be sorry. I'll let yall know when I find the next gem on my travels. Peace...
Long overdue review - really great locally owned restaurant! Love the food and the whole ship vibe. And I’m a certified Cajun and believe me when I say the crawfish etouffee is the real deal. Best I’ve had in a restaurant. Hands down. Staff is really good. Well trained and knowledgeable. And every time we have been one if not both of the owners are walking around doing what owners should do. Highly recommended!
4/19/25: The food here is as good, or likely even better, than it was a few years ago. Although this place is a seafood restaurant, their burgers are some of THE BEST in the world, and their cheesecake and queso are outstanding as well! So, feel free to come here for any type of cuisine! The waitress, Taylor, was also great-friendly, prompt, and knowledgeable. Y’all, I can’t recommend this place enough! Get the boat burger, walk the plank burger, the po’boy, and the hushpuppies like we did and you won’t regret it! 4 years ago: Wow! I got the boat burger with queso from the lunch menu and it was one of the best burgers I’ve ever had! The sweetness of the bun, the seasoning of the fries, the warmth and slight spice of the queso, and the juiciness of the burger patty worked so well together! Plus, the service was quick, there was plenty of parking, and there were so many options on the menu. I’d soooo come here again.
1st time here and boy was it a treat. Delicious shrimp tacos. Request they blacken them. Yummy chicken tacos (I just wish they came on flour instead of corn tortilla. Fried shrimp & fish cooked perfectly. Red beans and rice yummy to my tummy! Black beans are uumm mmm good! And the bartender is amazing! She makes the best drinks . Waitress, Ashley is great with serving her customers . She is very attentive although serving several tables at once . I can't wait to return to try something else . OooYeah, the boudin egg rolls are a must try .
In two weeks of eating at a different restaurant every day in BCS, this was my favorite. Gotta start with the building - these guys are COMMITTED! (And the old location across the street looks like an actual shipwreck.) Inside, everything fits the theme and is appealing. They don't just offer Cajun cuisine - they have Cajun waiters! (At least, ours was.) The Jalapeno Poppers were HUGE - see photo of me holding one; it's nearly grenade-size. I had the Crawfish Combo, and thoroughly enjoyed both the etouffee and the fried crawfish tails. As Arnold famously said, "I'll be back."
I had a great dining experience at this restaurant. A group of guys and I went to eat there. We each ordered a different appetizer and shared. So the hush puppies, Diablo shrimp, boudin balls, Hot dirty shrimp. All of them were good. I ordered the captains choice grilled fish which was a Red fish. I ordered it blackened and it was delicious. Other guys ordered raw oysters and crawfish and thought they were delicious. Carlee was our server and did an excellent job. We did choose to sit outside on the deck and the flies were terrible. That was our choice though.
Tried this for the first time ever the other day and was not disappointed! I got the buffalo crawfish and diablos shrimp with fries. Now I want to try their other options. Everything I had was good. We also got some queso with crawfish. It was really good. My boys had a corn dog and burger. My wife had a grilled chicken sandwich and enjoyed it very much. The tables inside are really really small for 4 people which is my only complaint. The waitress we had was really nice and helpful. Next time we'll probably come back when we can sit outside and enjoy the weather. But OH WE WILL BE BACK!
The ambiance inside is the draw because it looks like a boat inside and they did a great job with the decorations. I left 3 stars for food because the oyster basket was not good, shrimp was ok, grilled veggies were decent, and the fries leave a garlic taste in your mouth all day.
New to the area and LOVE fried fish. Heard good things about Shipwreck. Ordered the fried fish plate with black beans & grilled veggies. Daughter had chicken tenders, Dr. Pepper, & fries, all to go ($27). Service was great, problem is my fried fish was cold, rubbery, and the crust wasn’t crispy. Fries were bland. Veggies tasted bland and they forgot to give me my black beans. I’ll look elsewhere for my fried fish. Very disappointed. UPDATE REVIEW: I was invited back to dine-in by the owner Wade and was able to have a sit down meal w/ the family. We walked up to a crowded restaurant parking lot, a sign of good food. I once again ordered the fried fish with french fries, while my wife and daughter both ordered the chicken breast w/ rice & veggies. I made sure to order and receive the meal before alerting the owner I was there. I wanted to see the owners in action and make sure I got the same quality food everyone else gets. The ambiance was nice, with the restaurant very clean, with multiple TV's on around the bar. (There is also a separate dining area away from the bar). First, the chips came out with some salsa. The chips were fresh, perfectly made and salted, and I overate them because they were so good. (I had a plan, which included not overeating the pre-meal chips, but that went out the door after I ate the first one.)The salsa was a bit too chunky and cold for me, but had good flavor. I next tasted my wife's grilled chicken and it was perfectly cooked and seasoned, while the veggies were also spot on. Their chicken breast is some of the best I've ever tried, hands down. This surprised me because this is a fish restaurant, after all and I hadn't expected their chicken to be their best dish. My french fries that came w/ my fish were good and I enjoyed them. Lastly, the all-important fried fish. Notably, my wife tried the fish first and thought it was great, even wishing she had ordered the fish instead. She said she'd be willing to come back to order that specific dish. I guess I'm extremely picky, but I still wasn't satisfied with the fried fish; to me it had too little crust and was a bit bland & almost chewy/rubbery. I like my fried fish with a crispy crust and flakey 'fish meat'. This could just be a personal preference, since my wife really enjoyed the fish. You'll have to try it yourself & decide. Irregardless, throughout the evening the wait staff ran the restaurant to perfection with the owners working the floor tirelessly. It was an overall positive experience and I plan on going back to try their burger. If their chicken dish is top notch, gotta try the burger next. I also saw a sign advertising sangrias, my favorite drink. Since the sangrias at Luigi's Patio Ristorante were a huge disappointment (see my review of Luigi's Patio Ristorante in College Station), I will give the sangria here a try next visit. If you've ever had a good sangria, you know it's worth hunting them down (Maggiano's Little Italy in San Antonio consistently has the best sangrias I've ever had thus far). My thanks to the owner Wade & his wife Mary for stepping up and giving my family a second chance to try their restaurant. Classy move by these longtime 16-year owners of Shipwreck Grill.
I gave it a three star as the etouffee I ordered was a bit bland it needed more flair and the rice was already embedded in it as if it were just thrown but the appetizer we got were really good I recommend those.
It took me a few years to swing by the new and purportedly improved Shipwreck and I sort of wish I would have delayed the stop. Our waitress was excellent, especially for BCS. The new building lacks the charm of the original building but is also much cleaner. Unfortunately the reason for going to a restaurant, the food, was a miss for me. I had the etoufee and it just wasn't to my liking. Over salted for sure but also missing any layers or complexity of flavor that really good etoufee has.
Wait service was pretty cool, and my group of 3 really liked the atmosphere. The boudin egg roll appetizer was pretty good... but WOW our entrees were bland. Gumbo, fish basket, and boiled shrimp all had zero taste beyond "watery". Highly recommend getting a suggestion before ordering, as none of us could finish our food.
Passing through the area and wanted fish. Thought we would give this place a shot since it had great reviews. Food was bland, fish rubbery and overpriced. Waitress was friendly but did not do her job. She disappeared for the majority of the time, did not refill our drinks, when she brought our food out she asked me where my salad was, which i would expect her to know that since i am the customer.. I ordered a strawberry bliss and didnt have any liquor in it. Was basically strawberry lemonaid. Atmosphere was cool, just wished it had better service and better food. Best thing on the table was french fries. Long John Silver is better UPDATE: 2 OF THE 3 OF US GOT SICK WITHIN AN HOUR OF EATING HERE!!
I was hoping the new built location was going to have better dishes. I quit going after 2-3 times at old location. Food was mediocre and it felt dirty inside. Well I went last night and let me tell you it has not changed. I sat at the bar to wait for my friend. Ordered a Bloody Mary and that was the best thing I had all night$8.00. Service was good and an add was friendly. I ordered the appetizer shrimp diablo and it was dry and overfried with the shrimp just rubbery$10. The entree was the special, blackened Redfish over rice with grilled vegetables$20. It was barely warm and had no flavor. The fish was dry and tough to cut. The rice was bland and also no flavor. The grilled vegetables were delicious though. So after spending $50 with tip left still a bit hungry and disappointed. I won’t be coming back unless I want to drink bloody jar s at the bar. Really not sure how this place stays open.
