An Unforgettable Omakase Experience! ★★★★★ Toyosu Omakase is by far the best Omakase I’ve had in Puerto Rico. The courses were unique and unlike anything I've ever tasted on the island—Japanese Sea Cucumber, Kamatoro, and Mikan Buri, just to name a few. Each dish was thoughtfully prepared, allowing me to truly appreciate the delicate flavors and textures of the sushi without any heavy sauces or toppings. The chef also took the time to explain each course, adding a personal touch that made the experience even more special. One tip: be sure to scan the QR code on their menu to access hidden à la carte sushi options that you won’t find anywhere else on the island. If you’re a sushi enthusiast, Toyosu Omakase is an absolute must-try. Highly recommend!
This is the very best fish I’ve had and I am a bit of a sushi snob. The salmon and tuna were so fresh and with a soft melt in the mouth texture. I will definitely be coming back!
The chef let me grate the japanese wasabi!!! Overall the experience was 10/10. The quality of the imported japanese fish was incredible. Chef Pancho was the best his nigiris and rolls were superb! Everything he prepared was delicious! Highly recommended restaurant.
Epic meal in Condado. Live in manhattan and have traveled to Japan. One of the best sushi dinners I’ve ever had. Run don’t walk.
Sushi was great. Didn’t have a reservation but was able to sit at the sushi bar. Restaurant was nice. Chef was lovely. Osaka roll is definitely one I would recommended. Enjoy.
First time in Toyosu and i was very pleased with the food service and atmosphere. I made a last minute reservation at the bar, Jeff greeted us and Fidel treated us so well. Ordered a the Lovers Moriawase For 2 and left very happy and satisfied. Will definitely come again and take pictures of the food! Highly recommended
If you don't know food, maybe this isn't for you. This place not only has the best proper sushi on the island but at this level of quality, freshness, and preparation, quite possibly some of the best I've had anywhere. I had the lovers sampler as well as the 60g waygu with shaved truffles. The texture of the fish was silky smooth. The flavors were spot on. Presentation was great. The wasabi was incredible. The wagyu left me wanting more with a great flavor and mouth feel. From start to finish, great experience. Absolutely fantastic.
The quality of the fish is amazing. Real wasabi and excellent service. One of the best sushi restaurants in all of Puerto Rico
We went for the Omakase and had an incredible experience start to finish. The chef and owner were incredible in telling us about all the things we were being served. The fish was extremely fresh and every plate was delicious. Toyosu is without a doubt the best sushi restaurant in San Juan. Thank you for an incredible date night!
By far, this is the best and only authentic fresh Japanese sushi available in Puerto Rico. I love that they have a huge selection of fresh Japanese sushi and sashimi available as a la carte. Great service and awesome vibe and music while dining here.
This place is great we come here all the time. The owner we know gets his sushi straight from the Japanese fish market. This is world class service and food. All of the sashimi is so fresh and nicely prepared. This is amazing especially in Puerto Rico where it is by far the best Japanese restaurant. This is a very expensive place though and you should know that before you go. But the price is worth it because of the amazing sushi and rolls. Easily in the top sushi restaurants in the world! 10/10 great restaurant
I had an absolutely delightful experience at Toyosu, the Authentic Japanese Sushi restaurant in San Juan, Puerto Rico! The commitment to freshness was evident as they fly in fresh fish from Japan several times a week. The chef's traditional Japanese sushi training truly shines through in every bite, resulting in a mouthwatering and authentic dining experience. From the moment I walked in, the ambiance, service, and attention to detail were top-notch. I highly recommend Toyosu to all sushi enthusiasts looking for an exceptional culinary journey in Puerto Rico!
Best sushi in San Juan, hands down. The omakase is always an experience. Very expensive for San Juan, so definitely a splurge, but worth it on special occasions.
By a mile the best sushi place in Puerto Rico. Amazing (!!) food, a wonderful atmosphere and an incredibly skilled chef! Loved it and cannot wait to come back!
Unbelievable experience, the fish is so fresh. We had an amazing omakase lunch here the second time ! Also we get a special reward uni! ⸻ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Exceptional omakase experience. The progression was thoughtful and beautifully balanced, moving from clean, delicate white fish to richer cuts with depth and precision. Each piece was impeccably prepared — from the subtle sweetness of the Aorika squid to the clean umami of the tuna, every bite highlighted the quality of the fish and the chef’s refined technique. The seasoning was restrained and intentional, allowing the ingredients to speak for themselves. Knife work, temperature, and rice texture were all spot on. A calm, elegant counter experience that truly respects traditional omakase craftsmanship. I would happily return.
I’ll be honest. I wasn’t expecting much from Puerto Rico when it comes to Japanese Cuisine. Jeffery and Toyosu Omakase exceeded me and my partner in every expectations We chose the 13 course omakase and sake experience. Jeffery explained the origin and tasting notes of each plate. Almost all of the fish was flown directly from Japan, shockingly considering the price. Our experience lasted over 2.5 hours well past closing and we never felt rushed. Highly recommend reservation and an empty stomach. If you drink definitely don’t skip the sake. We would book a trip to San Juan just to visit this restaurant. Don’t stress about the price, it’s worth every penny.

Beautiful restaurant and amazing sushi selection. Never seen so many sashimi options in my life. So amazing and authentic
Great ambiance, everything is very fresh, service on point. If you like uni, they have the best. A neighborhood gem. Highly recommended.

The food tasted good and was very professional, mainly sushi, but the variety was a bit too limited.
Went in with high hopes and was disappointed. There was only one waiter for all of the tables. Additionally, the food was good but only marginally better than the more affordable sushi restaurants. The worst part was the service overall. Had to wait 15 minutes just to pay after telling the waiter twice. I also only got one refill of water the entire night. If the establishment wants to improve, I suggest hiring more staff. The waiter was also a bit robotic and awkward.
I left my review on OpenTable and wanted to respond to the restaurant’s “clarification.” Please see the attached images for reference. 1. We understand the difference between sitting at the sushi counter and sitting at a table. We’ve dined at more than 30 high-end sushi restaurants, and sometimes we choose to interact with the chef, while other times we prefer minimal interaction. That was not the issue here. The issue was the chef approaching us twice (AT OUR TABLE) with a rude, dismissive attitude when we confirmed we wanted the omakase. I am certain he was rushing the meal, our last plate had barely been set down when Jeffrey asked if we’d like to add anything. We did (the foie gras, since it’s banned in our city), and we could hear the chef clearly annoyed. The moment that dish was served, the chef walked out with his umbrella. It was obvious he simply wanted to leave. Given his attitude, we were glad we had chosen a table rather than the sushi counter. 2. Regarding the yakumi—if its absence wasn’t an oversight, then I’d suggest revisiting some of the dishes, as several felt incomplete without proper seasoning. I also have pictures of the poorly sliced sashimi pieces, I am sharing one below. If you would like to see the rest let me know. 3. On the reservation details: I am attaching a screenshot that shows our reservation for 8:30pm where I selected the “18 Course Premium Edomae Omakase” (not stated on the email but I am 100% sure I selected it). I tested it again just now, and that option is no longer available at 8:30pm, perhaps a glitch that has since been corrected. It may seem obvious to you, but nowhere in the booking text this is clarified. Furthermore, the Kiwami is advertised at $299. I still don’t know where our $250 option came from but it is okay since the physical menu did say “MP”. At the end of the day, a restaurant that argues with customers (see other reviews as well) to “prove a point” instead of taking feedback seriously is not a place worth returning to. Once again, you are far better off dining at any of the many excellent local restaurants in San Juan.
This restaurant had a great vibe with modern decor, but the food fell short. The sushi rolls were overly fishy, and was room temperature and the seafood didn’t seem fresh—disappointing for a sushi spot. Additionally, while the waiter was polite, there was a noticeable fishy smell, which detracted from the dining experience.
Terrible service, rude server and uncomfortable setting. Told us to leave due to some dietary needs.
