Honestly, this is more of a PSA then a review - Old Slo is not just one of the most reliably tasty restaurants downtown it is also an EXCELLENT spot to host a party! We were on the hunt to find a spot to host our group of about 80 for our Wedding Welcome party in downtown SLO and was met with some exorbitantly expensive quotes and honestly impressionable communication. So we had the idea to reach out to Old Slo and I'm so glad we did. It had everything we were looking for - downtown location, fresh food, private area, easy beer/wine hosting, and no weirdly inflated prices (hello wedding tax). The back room of Old Slo can be rented out and can comfortably fit 60 people (we obviously spilled over to the outside and the front room, worked great). That room is also beautiful, the big windows looking onto the creek, couches and plenty of seating. The staff was excellent, they were incredibly gracious and staggered the catering trays so it was always warm. The food was SO good. It worked out really well for our guests with dietary restrictions too! Even if you don't need to rent the space, I still absolutely recommend them for catering. Kevin (Catering Manager) was the MVP. His communication was great and perfectly estimated the food quantities. He is also just a really nice person that was lovely to work with. 10000/10 recommend as an event space! You guys rock!

This was amazing!!! The service was fantastic. We ordered sweet potato fries and did the wall of beers and wines. It was so fun to experience all the different options and they had options for everyone. I like wine and it was fun to sample local wines and I even discovered a new wine. My husband and prefers beers and found a brown ale that was delicious. We will definitely come back when we are in the area! What a treat!!!!

We both tried the tri tip sandwich on sour dough and it was good. The sourdough was a great choice and the bread was tasty. The BBQ sauce came on the side, which was good as it was super sweet. Would have loved some horseradish.

We used Old SLO BBQ as our wedding caterer and it was an absolute highlight. Food was fitting for the venue ( a ranch in the area). Guests went back for seconds. Kevin was amazing to work with — friendly, accommodating and responsive. Options for vegans, vegetarians and pescatarians.

Delicious food no matter what you get. Easy to order and lots of room right by the beautiful creek and murmur of downtown SLO. Also 42 beers on tap many if not all are local, and it's self serve, can it get better? Kid friendly as well and great views and open seating/ space. I would definitely recommend if you are visiting the area or looking for quick but great food that's not junk. Walking distance from all downtown areas and parking usually not too bad for the part of town that it is. Perfect for a date without the kids.

Great bbq at a reasonable price, plus a full beer wall where you can pour your own. They have a great sit down area with board games too!

Old SLO in downtown is a nice venue to kick back and enjoy some solid BBQ. The pulled pork sandwich is very good and the bun was so soft and had a great taste. I really liked the texture of the bun. I think the fries have too much salt. Service wise, all of the staff members were very attentive and helpful.

The side of the restaurant is adjacent to the pay parking lot. It was difficult to find using GPS. Street pay parking is available. Maximum parking is 3 hours. Handicap parking and acvess is available. Restaurant has outdoor and indoor seating. You order at the outdoor window counter and seat at any available table. Customer service at the order counter was very friendly, patient and helpful. It was our a first time here so we had lots of questions. The wait for the orders was under 10 minutes. My strawberry salad with chicken was great. Hubby's brisket with beans and bread was delicious. At the back wall of the restaurant is a row of spigots for your choice of draught beer which was very interesting. There are two TV monitors indoors. Large floor to celing windows face the street so you get a good view of the shops, shoppers, etc. The interior is neat clean and organized. Restrooms are located in the back.

The tri-tip was great! The burger, not so much. The fries were over cooked for me. Some people might like that but it was almost like eating rectangular chips.

The BBQ was just average. The sandwiches tasted dry without any additional sauce or toppings. The salad was tasty, but I did not enjoy the plastic container. There should be proper dishes when not ordering to go. I liked the fact that you can tap your beer yourself.

Been wanting to try Santa Maria Style tri tip again and everyone told me I needed to try Old Slo. I ordered a couple of items and maybe the food does not travel well? The food was rather on the dry side especially the chicken and pork. The tri tip was simply ok. I usually really like this place, but my recent pickup order was really disappointing. The fries were completely burnt, even though I paid extra for garlic on them. My beans were cold, and the chicken sliders were barely warm. I tried calling multiple times for a refund, but no one answered. I’m hoping this was just an off night because I’ve had much better experiences here before.

Ordered the tri-trip sandwich since reviews talked really nice about it, plus I thought it was the popular item. Around 16 dollars, so I was surprised when I saw the portion size of it. But then I thought it probably makes up for it with the taste, however, it tasted normal. Not bad but not outstanding enough that I felt it justified the cost. Just bread and beef, with a side of bbq sauce. Probably should have ordered a different item or maybe come in earlier, if I wanted a better portion size I suppose.

I started off ordering online and told me it would be about 20 minute wait. I left my hotel and drove to the place which took about 25 minutes after finding parking which was hard to find since this place is located downtown with a small parking lot nearby. After parking street parking, I walked about three blocks down to go pick up my food. I waited online for about 15 minutes to get to the window. It would only to be towed. My food would not be done for another 15 to 30 minutes because they were busy despite me ordering in advance. I walked down the street to the local candy shop bought overpriced candy and came back about 20 minutes later. My food is still not ready. I did receive a refund because the r Refund because the ice cream machine was down and they could not make a root beer. I waited another 20 minutes for my food only to walk up to And be towed oh, I thought I gave Your food. In between time, I'm watching people in the back Make food. There was no washing of hands, No gloves being worn, Repeat, touching of pants shirts, A girl in the kitchen wiped the sweat off her forehead and continue to help make food. The guy continuously wiped his hands on his jeans as he was digging into the food to a Assemble sandwiches. The kitchen appeared dirty, unorganized, and chaotic. After waiting over an hour, I checked in on my food. The lady said she thought she'd give it to me. She never did. She apologize and issued a refund had me standing in error. Did not tell me that the refund process was complete. Just walked away completely. I will never be back and I hope as a tourist you will never come. This is not the place to go thankfully there was a nearby Jack-in-the-Box who made my food within five minutes and it cost only $13 to feed two people. Save yourself a headache on a Saturday night and go to Jack-in-the-Box. Terrible you guys need to work on cleanliness customer service and communicating with your customers. No one should be waiting that long.

Everyone was very nice. The beans are really good. But the cornbread is the driest I've ever had totally inedible for me and the rest of my party. The brisket was okay but overcooked. What got me was the ribs.. hard as a rock and so salty I couldn't eat a bite even after fighting to cut off a piece. Super disappointed! Ribs should fall off the bone. Now to the mac and yellow gritty water sauce. No salt pepper or cheese. Nothing at all cheesy just gritty and wet. Nasty!

Reducing this to a one star from a 2 star because of rude service. Atmosphere was nice, the food was okay. The wait was ROUGH. Took 30 min to order and I was first in line. Workers worked inefficiently and slow. Very unfortunate. Could easily be a 3 or 4 star experience otherwise.
