O'Neill's Irish Pub

I've been here a couple of times to spin a set and another time to check out my homie DJ Garcia Grande on the 1's and 2's. 👍🏾One of my friends from out of town likes this spot too!! The bar staff and the security are real cool peoples. They make sure you're well taken care of and help in any way they can. The customers come looking to party and have a good time! The vibe has been cool when I would visit. It's not often I come here but when I do it's always been lit! 🔥💃🕺🏽🎵🎶🍻🍷

Mr. Jose, the KJ or DJ, who takes care of the karaoke is a great guy. He makes sure the next singer knows it's his/her turn, and everyone loves him!

Been a few times now. Great bands! Karaoke night has its regulars who make it fun. There’s a fancy juke box in the interim. Staff has been super friendly every time!!! I’m thinking there’s a real need for more than a toilet or two at a bar. Bathroom makeover time ;-) Overall enjoyable

Honestly, as a beginning patron at this establishment, I found the size and friendliness of this Irish pub substantially welcoming 👍👍(that's a two thumbs up). Surviving the restrictions of covid, we all had to make allowances regarding dining. So getting there with some streets still blocked off in San Mateo(to better the businesses survival of our industries) it may take you a few twists and turns to get there so DON'T GIVE UP if your GPS tells you to take a turn and you find it has blockades... Just go another block or two down and you'll find yourself on the right street. Parking is a little strained... But the secret is there a little alley directly across the street from the front door and there's a number of slots avail at NO COST! On Tuesday nights they have an amazing kareoke event, but be prepared to get on the waiting list as my last experience it was pretty much packed... Which I dig cuz the audience participation was like a community. The bartender ALWAYS replaced your glass with a fresh chilled pint glass when you're trying one of their many flavors of draught on tap and was always on duty ready to serve his patrons. Friendly, warm and inviting. I take enjoyed myself and have returned since then. Prices are very fair. I suggest trying the Cali Squeeze on tap on a hot summer day. The essence of orange infused with a malt beverage is so refreshing on a warm day and doesn't seem so heavy when you're hot. I'll be returning.

I enjoyed the atmosphere. However there was an extremely aggressive and rude bouncer that smacked some guy in the back and also pushed a drunk person out the door onto a slippery service causing him to slip and almost fall. I wouldn't want to be around to see how he acted if anyone was actually "misbehaving" in the bar. He is definitely a liability and someone to watch out for.

This place is fun for trivia on Wednesdays. I wish they had a more extensive or interesting beer list, but they have some solid whiskey options. No food, but you can order delivery from next door.

Great spot to grab a drink and hang out. It was actually not very busy which I enjoyed. This place is typically packed and can get hard to order drinks sometimes. But the staff is always friendly.

Fairly cheap drinks considering the area, but terrible mixology experience. I ordered an old fashioned with well whiskey and the bartender refused to make my request. The bartender Gabby said she's not going to go out of her way to make an old fashioned with cheap whiskey and let me and the other bar patrons know that what I just did was a faux pas (Gabby literally said this to everyone at the bar). So I said "ok, let's do bourbon then". Long story short(er), the drink was pure sugar and I couldn't taste the nicer bourbon at all (so I might as well have gone with the well whiskey). I ordered another and asked for her to make it less sweet. She poured the drink in the same glass on top of the partially melted ice cube and orange rind and gave me a cheap cherry this time instead of the nice maraschino cherry. I asked if she used the same glass for the 2nd drink and she said "is that a problem?" Will not be going here again.
