Ottimo ristorante tra le colline tranquille e verdi dell'astigiano. I piatti sono rivisitazioni particolari di piatti semplici, sono tutti spettacolari, unione di sapori nuovi. Le porzioni sono giuste, così come il rapporto qualità/prezzo. Selezione di vini ottimi. L'unica pecca l'ho trovato nel servizio, a tratti disorganizzato con l'uscita dei piatti, ma nonostante ciò do comunque 5 stelle perché mi sono davvero trovata bene tutto sommato.

Staff gentilissimo, una menzione particolare all’unica cameriera (gli altri erano tutti maschi) per eleganza e gentilezza di rara fattura. Ottimo cibo e ben impiattato, si vede che usano materie prime di buona qualità e le usano con sapienza e professionalità. Anche l’atmosfera è molto piacevole, abbiamo mangiato fuori data la giornata soleggiata e calda. Forse solo il conto un filo troppo caro, ma dettaglio quasi trascurabile.

Da provare assolutamente! Location spettacolare, immersa nel verde, con ampio giardino dove poter mangiare fuori e dentro molto curato con un camino a legna per le stagioni più fredde. Staff molto accogliente e gentile e locale pulitissimo! Menu perfetto con gnocco fritto e salumi/formaggi da provare per forza! Primi e secondi moderni sempre ben bilanciati ed accompagnati da una bella carta vini anch’essa molto vivace. Dolci da impazzire soprattutto la panna cotta! Bravi!

My husband and I organized our American-style wedding at the mill. It was a perfect choice, but unfortunately, the day was ruined by not being able to be outside because it rained all day. But the staff was quick to find a solution for every part of the day. Everything went perfectly, we are absolutely satisfied, and our delighted guests appreciated the good food and the courtesy of the waiters. They reserved two rooms for us so we could get ready right there on site; the rooms are very, very cute and bright. I highly recommend Mulino del Casale, whether for a meal with friends or an event. I love it.

I had lunch with friends. Good quality, good wine. We shared two platters, a first course each, a bottle of wine, desserts, and a liqueur. About €35 each. The waiter was very friendly and knowledgeable.

The location is beautiful both inside and out, and the garden is fabulous. I had lunch there as a birthday guest. The entire outdoor area was reserved for this occasion. I thought it was a fabulous idea: it created an intimate, homey atmosphere, perfect for taking photos with the guests. The menu is delicious, especially the gnocco fritto (fried gnocchi) accompanied by cured meats and the tagliata (beef steak)—they're definitely worth a try! The kindness and helpfulness of the staff who served us made the atmosphere very welcoming and comfortable: a huge thank you! Highly recommended :)

This is an amazing restaurant for the beef connoisseur !!! Beef is carefully aged to make the most delicate flavors. Pair this with some of the regions best wines and you have the best most unique meal you have ever tasted. Did I mention the homemade tiramisu ? The ambience in this restaurant is the absolute best. I would recommend this to everyone who wants to have the most unique dining experience, flavours and atmosphere

We went to this trattoria for dinner with friends. What can I say? The food was truly good, in a truly charming, clean, and quaint setting. The service was excellent, with the staff always helpful and friendly. The exterior is also attractive, and Second o me really stands out in the warmer, sunnier seasons. The prices are average. Premetto che questa recensione é strettamente personale, secondo il mio modo in cui ho percepito questo ristorante. Il locale si trova in una posizione non troppo felice ma l'intervento di recupero del vecchio mulino é stato molto buono, il locale si presenta bello ed accogliente. I prodotti e la materia prima sono di qualità e le pietanze sono ricercate e rispecchiano il territorio. Il servizio é discreto, non mi sento di elogiarlo perché nonostante durante il servizio a cui ho assistito i coperti erano circa una trentina, le 2 cameriere hanno fatto fatica, i tempi di attesa sono stati particolarmente lunghi per il mio tavolo, soprattutto rispetto ai tavoli circostanti, ma non so se questo é stato per colpa della cucina o del servizio. I prezzi sono molto alti, troppo, non tanto riferito alla qualità della materia, quanto alla tipologia di Osteria. Non credo basti scrivere osteria contemporanea per giustificare dei prezzi così alti e delle porzioni così esigue, per essere fondamentalmente un'osteria di Villanova. Il coperto é composto da una tovaglietta di carta stile pub, la cameriera durante la stesura del conto stampa un pre-scontrino che fa leggere al cliente onde evitare errori. Durante il pranzo é entrato per ben 2 volte, da un ingresso dal quale si accede all'alloggio dei proprietari, un cane di grossa taglia. Nulla di male se non fosse che in sala erano presenti molti cani dei clienti che si sono, solo alcuni, giustamente innervositi avendo questo cane libero che girava in sala. Queste piccole sfumature a mio avviso non dovrebbero esserci in un locale dove si paga 50€ a persona per mangiare un entré, un antipasto, un primo e un dolce. Diciamo che la gestione fa molto trattoria di paese, però emulando dei piatti gourmet i prezzi sono da ristorante quotato e questo a mio avviso stride un po'. Lo consiglio per chi vuole provare qualcosa di diverso dal solito, lo sconsiglio per chi vuole alzarsi dal tavolo con la pancia piena. L'unico piatto che mi sento di sconsigliare a prescindere é la pastiera a modo loro, 10€ per un dolce fatto sostanzialmente da fette di arancia é veramente troppo per un locale di questo livello.

I tried the restaurant's Christmas menu on December 25th. At €55, excluding drinks, the menu didn't live up to the price. They started by serving "gnocco fritto" with prosciutto crudo (mediocre quality) and cheese (gorgonzola), which is a strange choice for a "rustic" Asti restaurant (!!). I would have expected this appetizer in Emilia (where it's usually better made and the frying oil is less noticeable) rather than in Villanova d'Asti. Then they served a veal tartare with egg yolk (which was practically nonexistent) and carrots (turnips and charred!). Again, it's best not to try to make "foreign" dishes for this part of Asti if you don't know them well and don't know how to make them. If you eat real tartare, just cross the border at Ventimiglia and you'll realize that it was nothing like it, and it was also poorly made and without the sauces to make it acceptable. Finally, the appetizers concluded with a pumpkin soufflé, the only decent dish, perhaps a little too sweet, not very tasty, but decent. The first courses were ravioli del plin with roast beef sauce (you couldn't taste it) and bitter cocoa (but why?!), followed by risotto creamed with stracchino cheese, sprinkled (!) with cabbage and 3 (yes, 3) pieces of sausage.....and here we reached the lowest point of the meal. The risotto was truly appalling, undercooked and flavorless, a true culinary disaster. Many of the diners noticed this, and the dish was criticized more or less openly at every table. I expected at least an apology and a "commercial" gesture on the bill, but that wasn't the case. The meal concluded with a chicken with apples for the main course and a spiced panna cotta for dessert. Not even a slice of panettone or pandoro with a glass of sparkling wine to round out the Christmas meal... Add to all this the excruciatingly slow service (the meal started at 1:25 PM and ended almost at 5 PM (!!!) for six courses and about ten tables...). Final comment: learn to cook like you speak, meaning that traditional local dishes, well-made, are better than trying at all costs recipes we're not used to making and with truly mediocre results. Final rating: 2

Another example of how wine and MasterChef are ruining the restaurant industry... The chef is very good, no doubt about that, but everything else is nothing... Prices are like top-notch restaurants, but the waiters are slow, awkward, and dressed like they're at a picnic (at least an apron would be nice), no tablecloth, and paper napkins. They advertise that they bake bread every day, but when I was there, the oven must have been broken, because the bread was very hard and stale... The decision not to serve bulk wine is legitimate, but a bottle of Arneis for €23, when you can take it home for less than €8 in Maccagno, seems excessive to me (even €25 for an Erbaluce, living near Caluso, I find excessive)!!! For completeness: 1 appetizer, 1 first course, 1 second course, 1 Arneis = €81.50

My wife and I were there this summer on a Saturday evening. We arrived with a reservation at 2:15 PM and left at 10:50 PM. There was a long wait between appetizers, my first course, and my wife's second course. The owner apologized, saying it was too crowded. No comment. The food was very good, but the portions were decidedly small. We had an excellent syrah and two small desserts to finish, and the bill was about €50 each. It wasn't our first time there, but the quality has certainly improved over time, at the expense of the portions and the wait, which was like a wedding reception.

I was very disappointed, especially since it had been described very well to me. But it was actually very bad; I was there on Easter Monday: I think they served me Easter leftovers. But even without this, in my opinion, curious idea, the dishes were minimal, tasteless, with a rustic table setting, without a tablecloth. The world is beautiful because everyone has their own idea; I'm probably out of my league. Goodbye and have a wonderful journey.

A place full of flies, the agnolotti pasta was terrible as they were frozen pasta, the grilled burger was overcooked and tasting of vinegar. This place is super expensive for the quality of their menu. Aged meat price from 60 to 120 Euro/kg. Definitely not recommend it.
