Great food, atmosphere, and service. We first found out about them on a TV show on KQED Bay Area ‘Check Please’. Came on a weekend night for dinner and tried the lamb burger and pretzel knots. We rarely eat lamb meat but we were glad we gave theirs a try. It was so tender and melted in our mouths. The burger bun was also delicious like a brioche bun. Each bite was better than the previous one. As a side, we got the garlic parm fries, which was also delish. Service was great. The restaurant has a calm, spacious, and clean atmosphere.
What an incredible find! Beautiful, welcoming space, warm, friendly service that makes you feel like family, and excellent food. I had a relaxing, casual lunch with a close friend. We both got the stupendously creamy, perfectly seasoned butternut squash soup sprinkled with pumpkin seeds; amazing, and just the right size. I got a terrific Caesar salad with homemade croutons & avocado & my friend got the beet salad served over little gem lettuce with goat cheese & pine nuts. Both salads were generous portions. The details everywhere are exceptional. In addition to the great food & service, bountiful natural light and fresh artwork, the enamelware serving pieces are charming, and best of all - the table is set with heavy, elegant, high quality flatware that’s a pleasure to dine with. We can’t wait to go back!
A perfect addition to the neighbourhood, been coming here often in the past year. Perfect for romantic meals, family brunch or a friends party! The food is out of this world and served by wonderful hosts with charm and delight! Never miss the wings or fries but also their new grapefruit mimosa is out of this world! American football Sunday is a thing at monks! They often are filled so book ahead if you want a table! Cheers!!
I believe we have found Terra Linda's best location for a good tasting beer and high quality pub food, on a sunny afternoon! We attempted to drop in on a walk-in basis on Friday at 4pm. That was a mistake as this place is POPULAR! The host was apologetic but managed to get us reservations for the next day. The staff was friendly, and all were wearing PPE. We ordered the pretzel twists for our kiddo - the beer cheese was fantastic but the mustard was a close 2nd. For our main course we shared the friend chicken sandwich - crispy, yet tender and juicy on the inside with some delicious fries. Our server was attentive, prompt, and upbeat. This place is definitely family-oriented so don't be surprised is many of the tables around you have small children. We are so excited to return and share this new hot spot with our friends!
Great neighborhood place for beer and food. Impressive list of draft, cans and bottles from the bay area and the world. I can't wait to take my son when he's in town for Thanksgiving. **Edit** Triple IPA celebration Feb 2024 great service, great food, great beer! Attended Pliny the Younger release 2026 it was fun and well organized. Watch for next year's release!

Awesome spot if you’re in search of great food and even better beer selection. Thank you Eric and Noah for the hospitality. Will come back again!!!!
Yummy burger and fries hit the spot. Sat at communal table. Service was a tad slow, but staff were amazing. Very happy with our visit. Keep it up, Monk’s team!
We loved this restaurant. Very accommodating and family friendly. My kids loved the grilled cheese! It was fluffy and crammed with creamy goodness also the Asian salad that I had was filled with abundant pieces of juicy well seasoned chicken! Staff were friendly, kind and helpful. Will definitely visit again when we are in the area.
Walked in to casually get take out. A friend asked me to pick up a soft pretzel to satisfy her whim. For a nonchalant errand where I expected brevity and efficiency, I was treated like a celebrity, given a comfortable seat and a glass of still water, all for a simple order. My friend described her soft pretzel as "probably the finest pretzel experience of her life." Good people attract good people. The next time I'm in the area and hungry, I'll be back to the Monk's Kettle in Terra Linda to dive deeper into their cuisine, beer and experience. Oh Yeah!
Great beer selection and solid service. Surprisingly tasty food options for a recent gathering. Pretty chill atmosphere on a weeknight. Will come again.

Great spot. Some unique dishes like the mushroom toast (delicious) and more common favs like fried Brussels (also delicious)! Great beer selection. Good service.

Overall A: great food, atmosphere, and service. Famous chicken sammie for weekday lunch; manager Emma particularly warm and inviting. Highly recommend.

Family friendly , tasty food, and a very nice selection of beer on tap. Noisy, uncomfortable chairs.
I love this restaurant and come here often. Typically, it's pretty consistent. I've written good reviews for them before. Today was different. I went for Sunday brunch and came in around 1:45 PM. There were 2 other tables in the restaurant, it was dead. I was seated right away, but my server didn't come to my table until after 5 minutes I gave him a look. No water, nothing. Then I finally got service. I ordered my regular, the Savory Stack with 2 scrambled eggs instead of a fried egg and Green Tea. My tea kettle came half full - and the tea bag inside. It usually comes outside - so I can put it in and steep my tea for as long as I like and remove the bag. No big deal. I went to remove the bag and the string was not visible, the kettle spilled everywhere. Ok - this stuff happens. My food arrived - and the scrambled eggs, typically creamy and delicious were dry, crumbled and tasteless. Wow - what a difference from my regular. I didn't complain. But then, the staff started blasting heavy metal and grunge music so loud. It was so disconcerting. Typically, they play super mellow music - latin music, normal relaxing music. Not today. Someone seriously went off the beaten path. It was if they restaurant were closed, and they were cleaning - and just rocking out to heavy metal and grunge. It was terrible. At this point, I got up and asked for my check. I explained my issues - and they ended up comp'ing my meal - which really wasn't the point - I am happy to pay my bill. But I left so disappointed with my regular place. The manager who is usually there wasn't there today. I can only think that the staff just don't do as good a job when she's not there as they do when she is? Not sure. It was definitely a very off day and disappointing. Definitely eat here, it's usually good. I write this review so they know that it's not consistent, and regulars are noticing. I hope they pay attention, because I will be back soon to see if they've corrected so I can continue to enjoy my regular place.
I haven’t been in awhile and they really seem to have worked out any issues with their service as it was impeccable. And the food was astonishingly delicious. I had the Brussels starter and the ahi niçoise. Everything was perfect. All I would change is a better wine list. There are very few wines on the menu and I don’t like any of them. But the dry cider was a nice alternative, and beer lovers will be happy here.
Good food. Burger is amazing. Pickled veggies were delicious. Only miss for us was the fish and chips which was too oily/greasy for our tastes. Warm cookie and soft serve was super yummy 😋.
Pleased to say they offer a delicious variety of foods. A friend and I split a wonderful Greek soup that had shredded chicken and spaetzle. We also had sides of pretzels rolls with dip and fried Brussels sprouts.

Went here on the recommendation of a friend who liked it. They must have gone on a better day. While the staff were wonderful and friendly, they never refilled or water glasses once during our meal, which was really unfortunate because some of the food was so salty it was almost inedible. We started out with the brussel sprouts, which were very tasty, but also very salty, moved on to the garlic Parm fries, which tested like they put all the salt for the fries in the brussel sprouts instead, bland. We them tried their tomato and fennel soup which had a great flavor, but again was so salty that no one could finish more than about a third of their bowls. Or mains were a mixed bunch alternating from either being very bland, very mid, or so salty they were inedible. We mentioned the overly salty meals to our waitress so I hope she told someone on the cook staff or management about it. You guys really seem to have a hard time with consistency, which is really too bad because there is good potential there. Hope you can do better in the future, but I and the group I went with will unfortunately not be going back.
I've eaten here before, and I appreciate the fact that it has outdoor dining space. We came by tonight for dinner with our small dog in our arms hoping to be seated outdoors for a meal. We try to be considerate to others with our pet, but the host table is inside, so naturally we need to enter indoors for a moment to be seated. Instead of being greeted, we were lectured for bringing the dog inside. The host's presumptive attitude was unwelcoming and unnecessary. This experience soured us on the idea of coming back here again.

Paid $16 for a $9 burger. Unfortunately watery Caesar salad dressing. Far overpriced pretzel bites at $6 per piece. Service was good, but didn’t make up for the lack of value in the food. The burgers, which are the hallmark of this restaurant, didn’t have any crunch whatsoever, and the buns were soggy. I liked the atmosphere in the place, but they desperately need a menu change. Location is good as well, but they need to bring the menu’s value up to the price.

Monks Kettle, our neighborhood restaurant and micro brewery, has been a bit of a letdown lately. Tonight was especially disappointing. My husband and I shared a lamb burger, and our son had his own. We both got fries and a side of brussels sprouts. That’s it, no drinks or desserts. The lamb burgers were tough and chewy, like they were precooked hours or days prior and microwaved just before serving. The bun was stale, and the brussels sprouts were way too burnt and swimming in oil. The fries were okay, though. At $80, we felt like we were getting ripped off. No drinks or dessert. Just two burgers, a couple of sides, and an $80 bill not including tip. It’s a shame that the closest restaurant to our house is so bad. I’m afraid we won’t be going back anytime soon.
