Augie’s was our best food experience during our 72 hours trip to Santa Barbara. The Ceviche was amazing with super fresh fish and vegies. We were a party of 10 and we ordered 70% of their dishes. Everyone was very pleased with their dishes. Guacamole, The NY Steak, Salmon, Fajitas, and the veggie tacos were all super tasty. Very friendly staff with great service.
Augie's is a great little restaurant in the heart of downtown Santa Barbara. Walking by it doesn't immediately pull you in, but do yourself a favor and grab a table. Augie's is one of the newer spots on the block but the service is top notch. The chairs are really comfortable and the place is comfy and clean. An open air patio gives direct views onto State St for people watching and a cool vibe. Indoor seats are casual and cool. The food is really good and great presentation. A great variety of drinks including seasonal specials. Augie's is definitely a spot you want to drop into and for sure grab a patio seat. PS... Look for Augie (he'll most likely come to your table and say hi and ask about the tequila he makes😃)
Wonderful experience! Loved everything about this gem off State St. The owner was here eating as well and came to introduce himself, check on our experience. The staff is beyond friendly - any negative reviews, honestly disregard them. Authentic, delicious, and well presented food. Cannot wait to bring more of my friends and family back here!
Awesome Drinks, great Bartender, Amazing Ambience and a great Sat Night at the Augies. Bartender helped me choose my own personal bourbon and made a smashing Ol Fashioned for me....the Corn chips and dips (super punchy flavours) were the perfect compliment.
We had a wonderful experience at Augie's last night. The food & cocktails were delicious. The service was great. The prices are reasonable. The ambiance was really nice. The restaurant's clean, the music is nice to listen to not overbearing. We sat on the patio and felt comfortable with all the other guests that were there. The serving staff took care of all of our needs. Hector the manager went over the menu with us so we knew what was what. Augie the owner checked on us multiple times to make sure our experience was the best. And it was! Augie's it's definitely a restaurant that we will frequent. High Quality Food - Affordable Prices - Wonderful Atmosphere - Great Service!
We had a lovely Sunday brunch! The food and drinks were delicious and the service was great!
Amazing dinner! Ignore the low reviews, those are so far from true. Service was excellent, drinks were amazing, portions were large (my boyfriend and I didn’t even have to order entrees after splitting two appetizers). 100/10 recommend. Great ambience and attentive staff.
Went during soft opening week. Decor is very well executed! Will update review/rating when go again. Time for an update… enjoying great Baja shrimp tacos and Tommy margaritas on Cinco de Mayo!
Came here to visit with the military liberty center. It was about 1115 when I stumbled by this place and decided to check it out. I ordered the Tetela Tinga, Augie's Reserve Flight, and a Tequila Sunrise (tasty)! They opened at 1100, I believe, and it was not crowded. Service and food were good. Depending on what you want, it can and will be expensive.
Best traditional Mexican food EVER!!!! Get the plantains with cream and berries for desert. To DIE FOR!!! Ask for Hector.
Stumble upon this place in the middle of the fiesta and absolutely loved the drinks, food and service were outstanding! Specially given how busy they were on a Saturday night! Kuddos to the management!! The seafood enchiladas were to die for! Watermelon drink was yummy but a bit too sweet, everything else was perfect! I’ll definitely be back
Great tequila bar in downtown Santa Barbara with an impressive selection of tequilas and beautiful atmosphere. Hand crafted cocktails and the bartenders have extensive knowledge on all of the tequilas.
I really have little clue why people were disappointed in Augie's. It is, of course, a new restaurant and there are a few kinks to be worked out but absolutely nothing that would interfere with the dining experience. The ambience was beautiful and the food was absolutely delicious. They were doing a $75 fixed menu with a selection from 4 courses and I was pleasantly surprised with every dish. I started off with the tuna tiradito which was fresh, succulent, and beautifully presented. My fiancée had the pork belly. The pork belly was delicious and rich with a great crust and it went incredibly with their Spanish Gin + Tonic. The gin they use is super aromatic and delicious. Of course, I had to try some tequila out of their 300+ selections and, believe me, I'll be back to try more. The server was super helpful in navigating my options and recommending tequilas at different price points. I had a Llamalo which is a marg where you can select the tequila and you just pay the 2 oz price which I thought was really clever. I got the Tapatio tequila because I was looking for something a little less expensive and it came out to $12. The second course was probably my favorite. I had the gobernador {shrimp} taco. It was cooked to perfection and I haven't had a better taco in my life. My date had the octopus taco which was incredible texturally and very rich flavor-wise. My main dish was a carne asada and it blew me away just as much as everything else. For dessert, I had the jericalla which was presented beautifully with a little sugar globe on top. By the end, I was stuffed and was sent warmly on my way. I have told everyone in earshot about Augie's ever since. I wonder why some reviews have been negative because this is fresh, delicious food authentic to Guadalajara. I don't know if others expected burritos/ enchiladas but I don't think they would be so shocked by the price if they were walking into a fine dining French/Italian joint. I can't wait to go back and see what more they come up with in the future.
We sat at the bar for awesome margaritas and delicious happy hour dishes - Victor was also very helpful with travel tips. Amazing tequila selection!

Came here for a couple drinks while exploring State St. Great cocktails and crazy tequila selection! Super friendly bartenders and the owner Augie joined us for a chat and was a really nice guy! Had a great conversation with him. The Jalisco Old Fashioned was great! 🍸
As SB locals we are lucky to have so many excellent Mexican food restaurants, so this post means a lot! I have been to Auggie’s pre and post update, and I have to say it is now, by far, one of my favorite restaurants. The weekly skirt steak special was delicious, as was the soup appetizer (fresh beef and maybe the best tasting beans I’ve ever had and big enough to share or enjoy as your entree). Margaritas were perfect, not too sweet. The staff was friendly, attentive and bilingual for the most part. I highly recommend you try Auggies!

Hector was the BEST! His dinner recommendation was so great. The restaurant was packed but you didn’t feel it because we were attended to multiple times by our wait staff, the general manager and owner stopping by to make sure we had a great experience. Hector went above and beyond to make sure we have a great first impression and we did! The churros for dessert are a must. They are so soft and fresh and delicious! Absolutely will be back!
Ingredients are very fresh. Food tastes okay, but it really is American cuisine, not Mexican at all. Meat is dry and overcooked, but veggies and seafood are good. Nice atmosphere and service, but won't return for their food.

The service here is amazing! We just went on for an appetizer and drinks and we were cared for very well. People seemed genuinely happy to work there. We ordered nachos and drinks which were just ok, but satisfied the intent. The atmosphere was beautiful though the music was a little high and made it difficult to hear the person sitting across me.

While visiting gorgeous Santa Barbara, we were in the mood for some Mexican cuisine and came across Augie’s, a stylish spot with a fun vibe. We made a reservation just in case, but it turned out to be unnecessary — the place wasn’t too busy, and we were seated right away. 🌮 What We Ordered: We tried the enchiladas with mole, shrimp entrées, and a side of guacamole with chips. The guac? A whopping $15 — and honestly, not worth that price tag. The enchiladas were just okay, and the shrimp didn’t leave a lasting impression. Flavors were mild, and the portions felt underwhelming for what we paid. 🍸 Drinks Looked Great, Tasted… Watered Down We also ordered a few cocktails. While my wife enjoyed hers, I felt they were overly diluted and packed with ice. For the price, I expected more flavor and less filler. Presentation? A+. Taste? B-. 👥 Customer Service: Nothing Special Service was just so-so. Not bad, but definitely lacked that warm, attentive touch that enhances the dining experience. 💸 Price vs. Value? Not Quite Balanced Between the pricey guac, small portions, and average food, we left feeling like the bill didn’t match the quality or quantity. ⸻ 🔥 Real talk for foodies: If you’re in SB and craving authentic Mexican flavor with value — you might want to explore other local gems.

We were visiting Santa Barbara and had happy hour here. Service wasn't great and we though unprofessional and they nickel and dime you blaming management. The food, drinks and atmosphere was fine though. They have a cut patio and nice set up with the plants in front.
This place is way too expensive for what you get. $160 for two drinks, churros, Mac, bone marrow and chicken tingy. I was excited to try this place but once I saw the plate put in front of me I thought it was a mistake. Was this a small appetizer or the 30 dinner portion?!? Mac had very little flavor and was the biggest disappointment. Bone marrow was good but nothing special. Chicken tingy also had no flavor and only one for that price. Fries had great flavor, shocking because nothing else did. But they were all the bottom fries it seemed. You know the small crumb pieces. Churros were basic. The chocolate sauce was good. But the other sauce I’m guessing was supposed to be caramel but was not fully done. Tasted like sugar water. Orange bliss I think it was call was my drink tasted like a la croix with a hint of tequila. Margarita was my gf drink and was ok. Overall do not was your time going here unless you are bored and want to waste money.
