We went this last weekend during their soft reopening. They had a limited menu as they ramp up. Service was excellent, food was delicious and the drinks were on point. They remodeled but kept the same aesthetics and it looks great.
So, it has been a number of years since I have been here for dinner...20+. Food is still fantastic! I ordered the chicken Marsala with fettuccine Alfredo. The only thing that would have made it better is if there was more. But, don't get me wrong. There was plenty of food on the plate. It was so good that I wanted more even though I was stuffed. 10 out of 10!
This is a really nice and home feeling place. I feel like this is the type of place locals go to and the staff will end up knowing you. They were really friendly and service was quick. We sat outside and they had some nice old and classic music playing. Seats were comfortable and they had a good list of food and drinks. I would eat here again. This place was also way busier than other places with similar places nearby. This place also uses high quality tomatoes and tomato sauce. They buy from a company my friend used to work for and they have premium products. I think the thing I was surprised about was that I didn’t see pizza on the menu. They might have it here but I didn’t see it…
We really enjoyed our meal & celebrating our 20th Anniversary dinner! We had the gluten free pasta with Alfredo & the egg plant rolatini and they were both delicious! A big thank you to Brandon, our waiter who made the evening nice & shared a great hiking spot recommendation. Which we did go on the next day!! Thank you Chase Restaurant we felt safe & had plenty of space!
Why is it that sometimes we just “Jones” for something? There just seems to be some void that absolutely has got to be addressed as soon as possible. For me today it was Italian food. I just needed a warm, cheesy, breaded something with a pasta influence. Fortunately I had “phone a friend” card sitting in my back pocket for just such an occasion as this and @loriortell answered that call. She recommended this place and what a friend she proved to be once again! After briefly scanning the menu my gaze became affixed to the “Chicken Parmigiana.” While this order would have likely satisfied the majority of my “Jones” fix, I nearly needed to be restrained from standing up and embracing our server when he asked, “And for your side would you prefer either spaghetti or Fettuccine Alfredo?” I mean, who are these people??? Clearly they had me at “ciao.” ❤️ My vague memories of the meal are a blur and (I think) involve some guttural moans of satisfaction (sorry, not sorry). The consumption process seemed to last approximately 4-5 minutes, so who’s to say? 🤷♂️ You really should consult a witness for the facts. What I do remember is the music selection consisting entirely of Stevie Wonder tracks. Not what I would have expected, but strangely complimentary to the experience, I must say. The price of our meals was beyond reasonable, clearly this is an establishment frequented by locals, and acquiring a booth is worth the wait (if necessary). And that’s…Henry’s Take. #santabarbaraitalianfood
My friend and I ducked in for drinks while waiting for our reservation to dine. The drinks were served with style and quiet flair. They were strong, tasty, and a little expensive. It's old-world and classy looking on the inside...cushy leather booths, fairy lights, ivy on the walls, and old blue eyes on Spotify....a great spot to ease in and enjoy your evening.
Visiting Santa Barbara and feeling very hot following a long walk. Attracted by the bar for just a drink, but made to feel so welcome (thanks, Joe) that we stayed for a late lunch. Lovely, traditional Italian restaurant, clearly very popular with the locals. Excellent pasta, great IPA, and a nice glass of Sauvignon Blanc. Would definitely return.
Food was ok. Staff was extremely nice, despite being very short handed. The atmosphere was lacking despite a great location. Music selection was more in tune with a 50’s style diner and food lacked flavor beyond garlic. Interesting menu options, had never seen such a huge piece of calamari- but it easily could have been prepared with more flavor/ something other than garlic to make it more memorable.
Had a really bad experience here. Staff working here were rude. 1. Sun was right on our face (we got a bad seating). We had requested for a different seating, and they were completely inflexible. 2. Eggplant parmigiana sandwich literally had no eggplant… when asked about it, our server was like “Oh, it’s closing time. That’s how it usually is around this time”. Hope they improve soon
My wife and I couldn't finish our dinners, not that it tasted bad, but the meal wasn't sitting right in our stomachs. Got a doggy bag and took the food home. My wife was nauseated the next morning and couldn't hold it down, if that says anything. The staff was very nice and accommodating. The restaurant was busy (Saturday night, 730pm reservations) so it was a little loud and chilly as they left the door open but my fault for wearing a short sleeved shirt out on a cold night. We were served our water in plastic cups, where everybody else had glasses... I looked. Not that I care that much but for $120 for 2 people, it would have been nice. I ordered the jalapeño pork chops and my wife had the eggplant. The waitress explained their food to be "East Coast Italian" which we equated to be southern Italian, Sicilian, which is heavier, spicier, chunkier than northern Italian. Think Bucca De Beppo, without the family servings... And save yourself some money.
Our dining experience was a disappointment. The server forgot about our wine selection and was generally distracted to say the least. Our food order got mixed up with wrong dishes served. Spaghetti and fettuccine were overlooked and lacked proper taste. On a positive note, calamari steak was good.
Was very excited to be able to dine in again amidst all this covid-19 period. Unfortunately should not have picked Chase for my first meal at a restaurant after 3 months. They were extremely understaffed which is understandable after coming out of lock down but maybe they should have prepared more before opening their doors. Service was extremely slow. Sat there 30 mins only to be asked what we’d like to eat. We didn’t even have menus yet! We asked for bread and server told us they were out even though the other server was providing bread to other tables. Food was very mediocre and didn’t have much flavor. Also never got my side salad. Noticed that the workers in the kitchen weren’t wearing gloves or masks! Only good thing was the meal was fairly cheap.
The owner and staff at this restaurant appear to hate The People's right to film in public. Without a full understanding of our First Amendment and the stress testing of all of our freedoms, we can lose them. Especially in this political climate. They are famous on social media for their disdain of our freedoms. They need to educate themselves on our constitutional rights. Cannot recommend.
I see that this establishment is temporarily closed. After watching the meltdown the owner had on YouTube, I understand why. Instead of using the opportunity to engage with camera men in a professional way showing the integrity of her establishment, she chose to piss all over the rights I fought for. None of my family or friends in Santa Barbara will ever patronize this restaurant again.
In the picture you see a steak for $34, I asked for a medium-rare steak that should be red center and ooze with juice, and they brought me medium fried, if not higher, there was also a huge potato without sauce or anything. Is this what you offer your visitor? I am very dissatisfied with the taste and serving of the dishes. The steak in this restaurant is terrible. The bread they brought us was stale. We had a nice waitress, the service was good, and they had a nice interior, we waited 20 minutes for a table, it was a Thursday evening. I came here to eat delicious meat and was ultimately disappointed. I left hungry, the restaurant did not react in any way to what I said that the meat was overcooked, it was hard to chew and it was dry. The restaurant has good reviews and I hoped that I could have a good dinner here
The waitress was curt and rude. We went there on the day of thanksgiving and I get it that there are very few restaurants that are open. That doesn’t mean that customers can be treated rudely. The eggplant sandwich items barely had any eggplant and the response was that they are running low on eggplant. If that’s the case, we should be informed to choose some other item, rather than being served a sandwich with very less eggplant.
Edit: just checked my credit card, and these people changed the tip amount I had left on the receipt. They charged me more in tips. I unfortunately didnt keep the receipt so there is noway to dispute it. Keep your receipt! Or just don't go here. Shame. Food was just ok. I got the snapper piccatta with fettuccine Alfredo and it was too buttery. They have a $12.99 lunch menu that they keep kind of down low. Great seating though. State street has been closed for cars for covid, so all these restaurants have added ample outdoor street seating a la Paris. That was my favorite part of the experience. Service was ok.
