This place is a little gem. Tucked away in The granary square, they serve some wonderfully priced Mexican food and equally wonderful margaritas. I believe I've just set it all.
Great food, great margaritas! Been here multiple times and have always left happy! Patio is dog friendly
Nice little place ....food was very good....price reasonable...service was great ...a nice surprise...
Great small restaurant for a quick bite, good outdoor seating.
Love this place, good priced bean and cheese burritos, been getting those sense I was a kid, love the grilled chicken tostadas!
The half chicken plate is a great value. Very delicious. Taco Tuesday $1.59 tacos I like the carnitas the most.
Fast and friendly service, food is always delicious. Love their ceviche and tacos with house salsa, yum 😋
Great Torta and quality margaritas. Everyone wants a margarita on a patio on a hot day. This means the patio can be busy and hard to find a seat at times.
String drinks, good food, comfortable environment. Fun any night of the week and Taco Tuesday is amazing. Yum!
ONLY WARNING is if you plan to drink here take an Uber because one margarita has like 6 shots in it. Otherwise AMAZING I’m obsessed with this place and try to go here as often as possible. Incredible service they even give my dog snacks for free 😍
Love the Alamo been coming here for ages, great simple food good price & the staff is so friendly. The caddy marg is my go to, salsa bar is great & the special sauce they have only on Tuesday is soooo good
Always enjoy the patio even with car traffic. Very relaxing atmosphere and we always have good conversation with each other. Margaritas are very nice especially the Cadillac.
Hands down one of THE best Mexican food anywhere! Amazing how every dish is consistently good good good!
Amazing food! Huge bean and cheese burritos for $5 that are totally worth their weight in gold. My favorite is the bean, cheese and beef burrito! However, there isn't anything on the menu here that I don't like!
Probably one of our favorite places to eat at in SCV. Food is great. Prices are great. Kiddos love it. And service is super great! They remember faces and make you feel welcome. Along with authentic yummy tasty food, they really deserve 5 stars. We miss coming here after moving, but are sure to visit every time we go back! we specifically love the Chorizo plate, buritos, nachos, tosdada....OK everything lol enjoy!
Great food, Great customer service. Restaurant was nice and clean and the food was out quickly.
Comes on paper plate and self service but reasonable, the food price and quantity is really good
Great Marg’s and food. Yummy Salsa bar too

Everything was awesome here! The food, the beer selection, the customer service, and even the atmosphere were all fantastic. Making Mexican food in socal is very competitive, and the Alamo can definitely hold it own in this market, not only do they serve delicious authentic Mexican food they also have a few homemade creations of their own. I highly recommend for any occasion from date night to family night out.
The Alamo staff is very friendly and we love the atmosphere and the food. We come here frequently and they never disappoint. I usually get the chicken enchiladas and a margarita..yum!
Food here was pretty good for the price! We loved the fajita wrap and veggie burrito. But the star of the show are the margaritas. I mean seriously , this must be 3 margaritas for the price of one.. and on top of that, KC is hilarious and gave us amazing service.
Stopped in for a quick lunch last weekend. Very happy with the service. The menu has a lot of reasonably priced choices and the chips and salsa were delicious. They have both inside and outside seating available and everyone eating there seemed to be really enjoying themselves. Orders are taken at the counter versus a server- which we didn't mind at all. Located in a strip mall with a lot of good parking available.

Great place to have a quick drink and snack with some friends. The outdoor seating is best part and the margaritas are killer.
Are you looking for a strong margarita? And you don't care about the typical SCV yuppie ambiance? You ok with a sort of a dive? You need to try Alamo. Rotisserie chicken is a good deal. Cheap and delicious. I usually get a half chicken and take half of that home for a meal next day. Good salsa bar here. The hot is so hot it makes me sweat. Another great option here are the grilled soft steak tacos. Fabulously cheap and good too. Did I mention stong margaritas? Outdoor seating is hit or miss during peak dinner or margarita drinking time.
Busy lunch crowd. I had fish plate, it was okay. They have a full bar which surprised me. The patio is large but inside seating is very small. I'll give them another chance.
Our first time here seeing the patio not packed with people. This is a local favorite and we saw our chance to get in before the dinner rush. If I didn't have to be somewhere later in the evening I would still be enjoying the good food and more drinks. Looks like every table complimented their food with the famous margarita pitcher or beer. I wish the beer was colder but may have been due to all the fixings that go into a Michelada that made it a little warmer then I'm used to. This looks like a mom and pop place and customers and owners all called everyone by name. Felt like I was eating at their family table. Will be back when I can spare a few hours to truly enjoy.

Best micheladas and nachos in town. Make sure you get the mini deluxe nachos with carne asada.
I have been shopping at granary square for the las 20 years, and my first time here, we bought 1/2 chicken one for me a one first my wife, pretty impres, good chicken and 100 times better than other rotisserie. Well cock and season. For sure we'll be customers from now on. Thank you guys.

Love the food but the manager is a dick. Will charge you for tortilla chips even with a large food order and gives you the evil eye while you get salsa at the salsa bar.
A really nice little local Mexican restaurant. The food is basic, but good and the beer is cheaper than the mall restaurants. The staff are generally very friendly and always ready to help. They sometimes over charge by a little, but that can be forgiven because the meals are pretty inexpensive anyway. The restaurant gets really packed on warm summer evenings. Finding a table can be tough some evenings.
I see people here all the time when I get groceries so I finally decided to try it. The vibes are good and the outdoor eating area is great but the food was a bit lacking? Kind of bland and dry. The people working there are nice and chill though. Cool place to eat and the prices aren’t that bad but the food alone isn’t worth coming back for.

For a place called Alamo, they do not have TEX-MEX. Not a single staple item on the menu, no spice. As for what they have, bland basic fast foodish quality
Came here because it's a popular recommended restaurant, but my husband was not impressed. We had a long wait and it's kind of expensive for what it is, just plain old average food. They put 3x as much chicken as they do cheese in their quesadilla and the salad was soggy.
This food isn't even Mid. Terrible enchiladas the sauce was bitter and gross . I also got shredded beef tacos. Eww This food isn't good. HIDEOUS!!!

Be careful , they will charge for things that you do not order. Also unless you order alcohol you are treated bad. Bad customer service and bad food
I ate here once, but NEVER again!!! Very rude manager with a foul mouth. The food was almost average. I also don't know how long it had been since the place was cleaned. I'd be scared to eat there again.
I'm giving the one star because I give a zero that happened yesterday afternoon on Saturday. And the zero is not for the food but for the service of the employees there. My dad went to get food and he had received the worst service ever. The service was by a new person they had hired. The person was rude and ignorant. If it weren't for the food and I would only go when I'm craving it I wouldn't go for that kind of customer service.
They charged me $3 more for an item than what it said on their menu. When I asked them about it they said there was an additional charge that isn’t included on the menu. I said “maybe change your menu so people know the cost of what they are ordering” SMH
Very unfriendly manager and rude. Will never go back again. His ego is too big for who he is. Something happened months ago, and he still is unpleasant....he can't be mature enough about what happened and forgive. It makes me uncomfortable just to walk by the place.
Very, very dissatisfied with my latest experience. Food was bland and tasteless. Salsa tasted like watered down tomato juice. Even worse is that the prices have doubled. Been eating here for 35 years and I think I won’t go back.
Not Mexican Food is Tex-mex no flavor on beans or rice. Surprised by good reviews maybe people like it for the alcohol. Food is not good. Not Authentic Mexican at all. Highly dissatisfied I wanted to try new restaurant and this is what happens. $30 waisted :/
I used to go there before, excellent service. I think they have new owners and cooks. Now is not as it was before, service is slow got my order wrong my kids burgers was just the meat and bread nothing else. I would not recommend it.
The carne asada tacos didn’t taste like they had any carne asada seasonings or marinade. Also. i found plastic in my food.
I don't usually write reviews, but the staff here is dishonest. After placing my order, I noticed there was a $2 "MISC FOOD" charge on my receipt. When I brought it up to the cashier, he paused for a little, then replied that "It was for the chips." That would have been understandable if I had ordered chips. The last thing he asked me before completing my order was, "Would you like some chips, or anything else with your order?" To which I replied "No thank you." I brought up that I did not order the chips. He didn't offer to refund me for them, and then handed me a basket of chips. The misc food charge was in the middle of the receipt, so he added it before he even asked if I wanted chips. He was definitely just hoping I wouldn't notice. The margarita I ordered was strong, but all of the food was mediocre. Chicken was dry and burrito was skimpy. None of it was worth the dishonesty. There are plenty of other restaurants in the area with better food and HONEST employees.

Found bits of shredded bone in my taco’s shredded chicken. The employee insisted that was normal, and they just shred the whole chicken. Absolutely disgusting, this place should be shut down.
I gave a tip and was quick and polite ordering. I got: Watered down drinks, inauthentic bland food, bad service, and charged more than the prices on the menu. I have only heard good things because they have cheap margarita pitchers but this place is a dumpster fire.
Dark dingy restaurant. The service is met with people barely acknowledging you. The food is good but the proportions are slim and stingy Especially for the price.
I first went to the Alamo 20 years ago, I had a beef burrito & was disgusted when I tasted some grizzle & some sort of weird lining on the meat, needless so say, I didn’t eat it & never went back. Today, it was 2 pm, had not eaten & decided to give it another try. I ordered the Chile Verde plate. I took one bite & it was so spicy & had so many bay leafs, I couldn’t tell what the spice was but it was not eatable. After taking one bite I explained to the young man at the counter that it was way too spicy & I never had choke verde like that. He rebutted in a very rude way that”Chile verde is supposed to be hot” I explained to him that it wasn’t hot spicy, it was the combination of Spices that made it uneatable. He was very rude & gave me 17.00$ he had charged me 18.61. I wasn’t going to argue about a dollar & sixty one cents, I guess that was for the bite I had taken. Needless to say to say, I won’t be going back. His rudeness & lack of customer service made me not want to order anything else. It was my bad for giving this place another try. His arrogant attitude & the food left an extremely bad taste in my mouth. I’m being generous by giving the Alamo a one star.
