Rosie’s is the best! We always have a great time coming here and try to come at least once a month to enjoy the kindest staff, yummy food, and the Thursday night live Celtic music. I’m we especially like the 3rd Thursday sessions. The bar is fun and the menu has gluten free and vegetarian options along with Irish pub dishes. Every time we bring family or friends here they love it. Can’t recommend it enough. They know how to show you a good time and take care of you.
Their food is delicious. They have options for the meat eaters in our family as well as the vegetarians. We have come here for a couple of birthday dinners this year. The shepherds pie is my absolute favorite. The salad it comes with has a great balsamic vinegarette. The shepherds pie itself is amazing. One of my kids has the vegetarian burger made with "Impossible meat." The rest of the group had delicious steaks. It is also nice that they have good accommodations for wheelchairs. My adult daughter had the mini churros, which came with vanilla ice cream.
Drinks are great and well priced! Dont be discouraged by the stairs! Dana’s welcoming smile will make you feel like your in your own neighborhood bar. The food was great. I had the wings but I saw people enjoying the calamari and bacon wrapped shrimp. I will be back! Thank you for welcoming me back to Santa Cruz!
Petra was an amazing server. She was attentive, helpful and patient with me even though it took me forever to decide what to eat. She also gave me some local history about the Redman Hirahara farmstead. Thank you Petra! I tried Shepherds pie for the first time here at this pub and it was really good. I definitely would recommend it to anyone looking for a unique dish.
I absolutely love this place every single time I come in! The staff are so kind, and absolutely friendly. The environment is vintage, but clean with a modern element. This restaurant is fun, it’s easy, it’s inexpensive, and it’s top tier casual dining all at once. The food is above standard, with plenty of variety, all met with consistency. From the pastas, to the house burger, every bite is enjoyable. It’s a fun place to take a date. It’s a fun place to casually have dinner. It’s not just good, it’s great! I will definitely be coming back.
My girlfriend and I have walked past this place many times, and we finally decided to give it a try—and it was absolutely worth it. We visited on a Saturday afternoon. I ordered the blackened chicken, served with mashed potatoes and vegetables. Everything on my plate was cooked to perfection—the chicken was moist, seasoned beautifully, and the mashed potatoes were silky and flavorful. My girlfriend had the Mahi Mahi and said it was equally perfect. If you’re in the Santa Cruz area, this spot is definitely worth a visit. The food is excellent, the portions are generous, and the prices are very reasonable.
We brought the family of 8 in for a birthday celebration. We showed up without a reservation. The staff was awesome. They pulled together tables for us, then when they realized the sun was shining through and hot on us, they moved us all to a new location. The manager came over and thanked us for coming out. We had “Westley” for a waiter and he was the best. Very attentive and personable. They really made the night extra special.
The burgers here are great! Definitely recommend the bacon-wrapped prawns and the Reuben rolls appetizer—both are solid choices. Just a heads-up: their takeout has a 'curbside' option, but after I provided my car details and arrived, no one brought the food out. When I called, they said I needed to park and go inside. I had pulled up with a $10 bill in hand, as a tip ready for whoever brought it down, but instead, I gave it to a street performer—he was stoked! Maybe just call it 'pickup' to avoid confusion. If someone upstairs wanted a little extra cash, a couple of trips down the stairs could make it happen. That said, the food is always on point, and maybe I just caught them on an off night. Five stars anyway, because it’s all Love!
Cool little joint near our hotel (Paradox) that was worth the stroll. Had some pork and salmon, and Rosie's got the meats. Celtic music was drifting around the bar area and that seemed appropriate. Decor is what you'd want in an Irish pub and it has a classic feel. Lots of space up here, and as an out of towner I felt pretty safe around here. Good food, good beer. Nice fella behind the bar who commutes quite a distance which is the norm I understand.
Great bar with friendly staff. Food is always good and the drinks made very well. The new cocktail menu is delicious. You can tell the bar manager Manny cares a lot about his work, plus trains the staff and bartenders well. Love to come here after work for food and happy hour, with different specials for each day of the week.
This is our favorite spot every time we visit Santa Cruz. The staff, food, and environment are wonderful. The staff really treat you like an authentic part of the family. Our favorite servers are Wes and Joe. Our favorite dishes here are the salmon and chips, shepherds pie, and some of the pasta dishes, like the chicken fettuccine Alfredo. Every time we’re here, we have such a great time!
Really great time tonight on St Paddy’s. Tons of music, sing along, great drinks and the food was fantastic. Corned beef Super tender and not salty- cabbage and carrots cooked just right. Really impressed. They did a great job especially for that amount of people.
One of my favorite spots! The food is fantastic (Shepherd's pie, bangers, and mash, and the best apple turnover with vanilla ice cream I've ever had!). The people that work here are fantastic, special thanks to Joe and Wes for always making us feel like family!
What a fantastic experience! The ambiance was warm and inviting, perfect for a relaxed yummy meal. Austin was attentive and friendly, making sure we had everything we needed without being overbearing. He suggested great beers and food. Dessert was a highlight, bread pudding, which was rich and satisfying. Overall, Rosie's delivered on all fronts—great food, excellent service, and a lovely atmosphere. I’ll definitely be back!!
Loved the food and drinks! Came in at a (not very busy) brunch time and really enjoyed (with a partner) a hot toddy, cranberry whiskey sour, bangers and mash, and pancake and egg breakfast. Great vibe of the restaurant overall, too
Fan.tastic Great vibe. Service was awesome too. Food cane quickly and was as delicious and savory as I'd hoped it would be. Nice beer recommendation from bartender and other servers were kind also. Glad it's open again and even more glad that I got my corned beef and cabbage fix just before the big day
Delicious food. Mediocre service. I was seated, then took over 10 minutes for anyone to acknowledge me. Bangers and mash was delicious!

A delightful homey Irish pub. Looks like a good date place as well as place to gather with friends. Monday nights has one of the nicest, most genuine bartenders ever! Various event nights and weekend music. Staircase to enter but worth every step!
Our family loves having dinner here. There is usually 8 to 10 of us in a party and they always have enough room. They have so many great items on the menu. I love the shepherds pie. The staff is always amazing. They are located on the second floor, but there is an elevator around back. We park in the parking garage behind Rosie's so my diabled child and my 70 yr old mom can take the elevator. It is actually one of the best places we dined at while my teen was in a wheelchair for a couple months.
For a pub that serves food, this is as good as it gets. I've been to lots of pubs in Ireland and Scotland and Rosie's is right there with the best of them. And like all the good pubs, they have Sessions where musicians show up to play Celtic music, usually on Thursday nights. There are some great players that show up, including some that are world renowned. The food menu has great variety and there is something there for every pallette. And the food is well prepared. Appropriately, the bar has a great selection of liquors, ales and ciders, with some if the best locally brewed beers and ales on tap.
A great little place downtown to grab a drink and some food! They offer a variety of beverages, including non-alcoholic options, and the food was good. The staff were friendly, and the decor is interesting, unlike what you typically find at a bar. Additionally, it's located on the second floor, so the views from the windows are great! I look forward to coming back!

Solid pub with a varied menu. All the normal solid pub dishes and some great healthy options. I also enjoyed the brunch.
Pretty nice 🍀Irish Pub🍀. Understaffed on our visit. The fish&chips was good but not much fish and a ridiculously small amount of chips! Come on man, chips are a low stakes item to be skimping on and besides, they were good! Also you should know better than to keep an Irishman from his taters! Looks like they have specials and things happening throughout the week so maybe check their website? I'll be back on a Thursday night for the music. The Guinness was delicious! 🙌🏼
Excellent service, good atmosphere and food. We had fish & chips and corned beef and cabbage. They were very good but didn't wow us. Excellent french fries and the fish was a bit greasy. Corned beef and cabbage was good but lacked seasoning...needed more salt. Good selection of beers, many of them local. We will definitely go back to try others on the menu.
We came in late to the city and this was the Only place to get Clam Chowder in Santa Cruz after 9pm. The food was very delicious, I loved the clam chowder my burger was pretty good. The waiter seemed like he was having a rough night since he was alone at the bar and taking orders. However everything was okay. I'm not sure if this would be my first choice but I would recommend if you would like something to eat late at night. Location is good, not too far from board walk.
As long as you aren't in a hurry.. everything else is fantastic! It really is like a 4.5...When they get to ya, the service is friendly and enthusiastic. The food..that's what brings us back!! So many wonderful options and great food quality. I can't say I am a fan of the strawberry stems still on though. The Bloody Mary is top notch as well!

Stopped in for a few drinks as the pub was transitioning into their evening setup (nightclub vibe with a DJ). I was looking for a quiet pub but it was getting late on a Saturday night so I really can’t complain about that. Unfortunately they remove the bar stools for standing room only, again understandable. Our bartender was Aaron and he was fantastic. Great drinks, friendly conversation. He’s a gem. I think I’d really like this place if I came in earlier in the day, looks like a cool place to grab a stool and hunker down.
Stopped by for a drink and a snack and I was pleasantly surprised. At first glance it may look like your average Irish/English style pub, but I think that's intentional and I certainly am not one to complain about decor. Good selection of beers on tap and a perfect sized menu: not too long but there are options for pescatarian/Paleo diets. Not sure about Vegan/Vegetarian but I think you could get by, and the kitchen is open damn near to close which is a major plus. I got a chicken quesadilla and while it didn't blow my mind, I don't think any chicken quesadilla would 😆 Guac was very tasty and prices were reasonable if not on the cheaper side for downtown SC. Overall a very positive experience, met a nice local and we chatted while I ate and the bartender was really good about making sure we were both taken care of. I do love dives like the Blue Lagoon(esp. because of the live entertainment) but I have a feeling I'll be at Rosie's sometime again soon. Overall: 4.5/5
We've been coming here for years. Came for an early dinner to get the fish and chips we always get. This time, 4 small chicken nugget size fish and a single handful of fries for almost $30. Not a great value. I suppose they couldn't put a lot of fries because it would highlight how tiny the fish pieces are. This amounted to about 1 piece of fish when added together. Since all 4 of us at the table ordered the same, I'm wondering if the chef cut two normal pieces into 8 to serve us all? I have fish and chips all up and down the entire Pacific Coast. This is the smallest portion yet. Tastes good, but then you wish even moreso that you had more. Should have taken a picture

I would not go to Rosie's specifically for dinner but the bar is nice, the vibe is chill & friendly, and if you get hungry the food is good. Had the chopped chicken salad, everything on the plate tasted fresh, chicken was grilled and I did not notice any liquid smoke. Good location, long flight of stairs, maybe they have an elevator.
Had the McCann’s Lamb Stew and it did not disappoint. If I had a Guinness as well I am sure it would have tasted better, to be sure!

We are traveling down the coast and stopping at beaches for vacation. We thought we’d try this place to support local and try Irish food. The hostess was unengaged and couldn’t be bothered but our server was friendly and attentive. She was the only good thing about the meal. (I tipped her really good) The food was slow coming out and although it was okayish, the veggies were cold, and the entrees were barely warm. I’m sure it would have tasted much better if it had been served hot. Our waters and soda were served in spotty plastic glasses without ice at room temp. I thought that was weird. The dining area looked like it hadn’t been cleaned properly and set to rights from the day before. Overall I was disappointed for the price I paid. The thing is, these places in heavy tourist areas only get one chance with travelers and they missed theirs with me because it’s not worth trying again.
I posted on yelp but it should be shared here too. The staff is very nice and polite. The food is bland. I ordered the shepherd pie and I couldn't finish eating it because it just tasted like gray. Seriously I'm someone who tries not to waist food and this had zero flavor it was horrible. Can't blame them for the bad food though, it's a Northern Ireland pub (loyalist) so like true British they don't know how to cook. It's not a real Irish pub and it's quite insulting. If you want to try real Irish food don't bother going here, if you want to try British food I complete recommend this place.
They have the same dj every week and this man has no music taste whatsoever, if you come here to have fun might as well stay home. However, the drinks are really good.
All zeroes. Because as a disabled person they exclude me and anyone else who can't climb the twenty foot flight of stairs. And, this is no accident, absolutely intentional. I have spoken to their manager/owner for several years. The first time I posted a negative review, he printed out a lame little office paper sign to let people know about the freight elevator in back, in a dark alley, with no signs visible. The picture shows the front recently with zero signage. I have a complaint on file but it's not the simple process that it sounds like. I'm not trying to get paid, but I hope it costs Rosie's a lot I have been by there probably 20 times. Each of those was a time I was essentially denied access by not being able to climb those damn steps. The law says they can be fined significantly for each time access is denied. If you have compassion for the disabled, walk on by and let them know why.
