Simple y sencillamente un hermoso lugar para pasar un fin de semana. Su ubicación hace que sea una gran elección, los cuartos son hermosos y cómodos, el hotel está rodeado de naturaleza que hace que convivas con ella, el desayuno es muy rico y se sirve en un jardín hermoso. Puedes caminar dentro del hotel y admirar la fauna y flora del lugar, puedes escuchar el canto de un halcón selvático de collar, la atención personalizada de la dueña (que cuida cada detalle ) hace de tu visita al hotel una experiencia inigualable.

Muy recomendado hospedaje para visitar la ruta Pucc. El lugar es hermoso, rodeado de jardines con bellas plantas. La cabaña es suficientemente amplia para tres personas, limpia y muy bella, recuerda a una casita maya. Se siente una atmósfera tranquila. Está un poco cerca de la carretera por lo que se escuchan pasar los camiones a lo lejos sin llegar a molestar. ¡El restaurante es muy rico para cenar! Especialmente las aguas frescas con chaya. El desayuno que ofrecen incluido en el costo de la habitación es delicioso y generoso, nos gustó mucho que Valerie, la propietaria, estuviera por ahí platicando con nosotros y otros huéspedes durante el desayuno, nos hizo sentir en casa.

Excelente hotel/lodge con un toque picturesco regional, palapas y todos los servicios necesarios para una experiencia excelente. Puede uno visitar los ejemplares de vegetación en su jardín y conocer los diferentes árboles de la región. Todo el personal amable y cortez. Todas las instalaciones incluyendo su alberca limpias e impecables. Ojalá existieran mas hoteles con el mismo concepto en la región. Yo tengo enfermedad celiaca (no puedo comer gluten) pero tienen opciones para acomodar, su comida excelente!

Un lugar para descansar, relajarse y disfrutar de la naturaleza. La ubicación perfecta a la orilla de la carretera, a la salida de la población de Santa Elena. Después de recorrer la ruta Puuc, es el lugar ideal para descansar. Ofrece privacidad en cada una de sus habitaciones y tranquilidad en sus jardines. Puedes relajarte en el área de la piscina o admirar la gran variedad de aves que hay en el lugar. Si te gusta la observación de aves, podrás observar diferentes especies que desde muy temprano visitan los jardines. La propietaria, Valerie, es muy amable y dispuesta a una interesante plática. El desayuno muy completo e incluído en el precio de la habitación. También se ofrece servicio de comida y cena. Muy recomendable para un fin de semana lejos de la ciudad. Espero volver pronto a visitarlos.

Mi esposo y yo fuimos a comer al restaurante el jueves 28 de julio por recomendación de Pastora, que vive en Santa Elena. El lugar muy bonito y la comida nos pareció excelente. Mauricio el chef trabaja muy bien los platillos, en su punto, todo muy rico y muy bien presentados. Raymundo el bartender fue muy amable y atento. Ampliamente recomendable para comer y para una estancia que tenemos pendiente y quedamos invitados a volver.

Realmente es un lugar bastante tranquilo, donde te encuentras rodeado de árboles, el canto de los pájaros y donde casi no hay sonidos automovilísticos. Sólo eso ido a comer ahí, la comida esta buena y la atención igual. Cuenta con instalaciones muy bonitas, creo que es lo ideal para escapar un rato de la ciudad y relajarse un poco.

Me gusta mucho este lugar para quedarme cuando visito Uxmal (queda a 15 kms). Santa Elena no tiene mucho para visitar pero el hotel es muy agradable. Las habitaciones son rústicas pero muy bien equipadas y la vegetación y ambientación del lugar es también muy agradable. Los desayunos son extraordinarios y están incluidos en la tarifa de la habitación. La dueña es extranjera y aunque su español no es perfecto atiende muy bien a sus huéspedes.

I never want to leave this place! Gorgeous property with an incredibly warm and welcoming staff (fluent in English). The casitas are awesome, very clean, have a very comfortable bed and hammock for lounging, strong WiFi, and AC! The restaurant on the property is also very good - breakfast is included with your stay, but you can add dinner and pool side drinks, or even a picnic to fuel your adventure day.

We loved our stay at the Pickled Onion in January. The setting is just lovely, with beautiful landscaping, a relaxing pool, and a nice breakfast courtyard. Our meals at the restaurant were delicious! And they made fabulous margaritas and other cocktails! Amy Joe was so helpful that she even arranged a charming local guide (Jorge) for our trip to Uxmal. And the staff was very attentive and friendly. We highly recommend a stay at the Pickled Onion when visiting this area!

I’m about to book here again. I was in the Yucatán two years ago and my companion was a heavy planner. One single solitary night we left wide open on our itinerary and by chance we stumbled upon this heavenly little oasis with the MOST charming host ever. The atmosphere was wonderful the room was eclectic and just lovely and breakfast was a delight served by the proprietor herself, a British ex-pat with magic flowing all around around her. She is absolutely in love with her little spot of heaven and it’s contagious! I’m going back next month and can’t wait to touch base here again!🥰

I stayed here back in 2015 and enjoyed it so we decided to come back for lunch after visiting Uxmal with some visiting family. After being seated, we were brought complementary empanadas along with pickled onions, and habanero salsa as an appetizer – for our man dishes, I had poc chuc, and others had pollo pibil, Lomitos de Valladolid, and pollo alcaporrado. All were nicely prepared and enjoyed in a great setting Prices were very reasonable $1200 including tip for 4 main dishes and 2 beers

A wonderful place to stay! The Pickled Onion is in a great location for resting your legs and relaxing after a long hot day of exploring Mayan ruins a Cenotes. The individual freestanding cottage had everything one could need out on the road. The bed and linen were clean and comphy. Nice walk in shower with plenty of pressure. There was a safe for your valuables, refrigerator, and a great A/C unit. There is a small pool for cooling off. Lots of trees and plants on the property. The hotel staff were ready great. They serve a great breakfast in the morning with good coffee! Melon and other assorted fruits, eggs and bread. The restaurant menu is good with lots of local Yucatan dishes. The kitchen didn't disappoint! We had our laundry done there as well, everything came back clean and smelling good! I really loved my stay there and will definitely be returning some day. Thank you Pickled Onion for the great accomodations!

This wonderful establishment is on the outskirts of a hidden little 3-bodega village, in the middle of the jungle. The rooms are exquisite, and the food deserves a 5-star all its own, but where it really shines is in its location. The Pickled Onion is a wonderful home-base for excursions into campeche, but also as a place to rest when coming back from the DOZENS of hidden ruins and pyramids throughout the area. As comfortable as the room is, my family and I spent most of our time here out on the road and ruin-hopping.

This B&B/restaurant is a beautiful place, with cozy huts, lovely pool, gorgeous walkways with plants identified, and even massage and yoga available to schedule. The owner and her staff take care of the place with such love, it shows. We only stayed one night, but wanted to stay forever. Don't hesitate to discover the little gem, it's quiet, and the drinks by the pool side are excellent! Also, they have a family but, with one hut/bathroom with two beds for the kiddos, and the other, semi connected one for mom and dad, with their own bathroom. Overall, a fantastic place!

This hotel was a nice surprise ! Hopefully we were not here during the weekend as the owner told us that during weekend you have music everywhere until 4-5AM !! For us it was quiet and peaceful. Dinner is a bit expensive, breakfast is ok but not extraordinary even if this is served in the very nice patio. The hotel is nice, swimming pool is beatiful and the room are well decorated. Bathroom is ok and air co is not needed. The owner is nice and her dog is super friendly !!

This place is perfectly located in Ruta Puuc and makes an excellent base for exploring Uxmal and the other smaller ruins in the area. The grounds are like a garden with a small pool perfect for cooling off after a long day of ruin hopping. There are multiple bungalows that are super fun to stay in, along with being both clean and comfortable. The lady that runs the place is super friendly and knowledgeable about the area. She comes out each morning during breakfast (with her cute dog) to visit with the guests and to offer advice. The staff is also very friendly. Breakfast is included and very good. Parking is also free. The only downside is that the restaurant for dinner is just OK and the margaritas were very bad (stick to beer).

Ventanas y puerta con mosquitera. Parking privado. No gustó · Sabíamos cuando reservamos que se trataba de una cabaña tipo maya con techo de paja, pero finalmente esta experiencia no era para nosotros y de dos noches sólo nos quedamos una porque no dormimos bien. Al entrar se notaba mucha humedad y olor raro, a poco ventilado, un poco fuerte. Entraban insectos grandes... Y sobre la mosquitera de la cama y resto de habitación, caían "cosas" del techo que no sabemos de qué animal eran. Mucho calor y humedad por la noche. Se oía ruido de la carretera, además de perros y de los propios animales del entorno. Salía muy poca agua de la ducha. La cisterna del WC también tenía su peculiaridad. El desayuno, empezaba a las 7:30 y fue un poco pobre, esperábamos más ya que tienen restaurante propio y en el propio mensaje de la anfitriona que se recibe al reservar te indican que es especial. Nos pusieron, sin preguntar ni hablar nada con nosotros un poco de fruta, huevos revueltos, un zumo, pan, café y un trocito de bizcocho. Deberían indicar en qué consiste el desayuno antes de servirte.

I hate to leave a bad review, but we did not enjoy our experience at the Pickled Onion. The atmosphere was a bit of a shock after the warm hospitality we received throughout the Yucatan. There is a sense that the hotel doesn't trust its guests. First red flag was the welcome binder. On the front page there is an oddly worded and vaguely threatening note warning guests not to steal from the rooms or they will be charged. It is horrible that past guests have done that, but it did not set a good tone for the stay. Second, if you leave the property, the hotel takes the room key back from you. I have never been to a hotel that makes you sacrifice your key if you leave. In addition, it felt like the place was nickel and diming us. I understand that there are extra costs associated with running a hotel near the ruins. However, a beer at the Pickled Onion cost 1.5x more than the beer we purchased from a fancy hotel in Merida. Unlike other hotels, the Pickled Onion didn't have a water dispenser to fill your water bottle, but instead charged for every bottle after your first (small) one. They also charged a fee to rent a pool towel - what hotel charges for towels? What really soured me on the place was the owner's attitude though. During breakfast, she disparaged the locals in Santa Elena, calling them alcoholics and generally taking a negative tone towards them. She very much gave off a "westerners know best" sentiment. The room itself was humble, but totally fine. The decor was nice and the bed comfortable enough. Breakfast was standard hotel fare with eggs and fruit. However, for the reasons above, I would recommend you stay at a different hotel and enjoy a delicious meal at a local restaurant in Santa Elena.
