Always a great meal. Love the fact that they have gluten free bread and are genuinely concerned about how it is prepared, utilizing a separate toaster. I would highly recommend for the best comfort food breakfast!
Good service, super cozy. Lots of food! I love the chicken fried chicken (its like chicken fried steak but with chicken) with egg, hash browns and an English muffin! Always have leftovers, my husband gets the polish sausage and cheddar omelet with country potatoes and a biscuit with a side of gravy. Side of gravy is $4, so a little pricey. But tasty satisfying food
I was in town with my wife on a weekend getaway, and we were looking for a more traditional diner to have a good breakfast. Carlo's Country Kitchen did not disappoint. I got the pancake platter and my wife got the biscuits and gravy. All the food was fantastic! I'd highly recommend Carlo's Country Kitchen.
Great food and atmosphere! Took my elderly parents there for lunch. They both opted for breakfast that they both enjoyed. Service was great. They have a huge menu. There is something for everyone!
Carlos and his Staff are an amazing team! dining here is like going to "Nana's" kichen and grabbing your favorite seat. You truly are listening, smelling and watching as your meal is created. A down home casual environment offering picnic tables too. Staff greet you with menu in hand and a coffee in the other and off you go to start your day with a great meal. Take-out is only a phone call away! and during a stay at home time a great choice.
I really love coming here as much as possible for breakfast food. As soon as you walk in Carlos is there to greet you. The staff is super nice and everyone makes you feel at home. The food is AMAZING! The give you big portions of fresh, delicious food. I always order the ham, egg and has dish and I ask for a biscuit and gravy on the side. yummm!!
Really big portions and it's always aamazing.you cant beat the prices. We sat down at the bar and ordered and watched them cook our food and it was cooked in record time. Our drinks were never empty. And our server was amazing. We will definitely be back.
This is hands down the best diner in Santa Rosa. Amazing food with giant portions. The staff/owners are fun and friendly. It's definitely a family favorite of ours and whenever my mom visits from out of town this is her request :-) I love the hollandaise sauce and the Juevos rancheros and my mom and son love the strawberry waffles. You really can't go wrong with anything you order
Owners, Carlos and Karen, are so very nice and gracious people ! Our food selections were amazingly delicious and quick. We're from out of state, but were treated the same as valued local customers .. we'll always remember that ! Thanks again for a "very memorable" dining experience !! Parris, Aleta and Tyler.
I grab breakfast there almost every Friday and it's a great way to end the week. Food is so good. It's consistent, homemade is delicious. I highly recommend this restaurant to everybody.
I'm sitting across the counter from Carlos right now. The coffee is decent, and the service is kind and quick. They were prepping my order before I finished placing it. He's been doing this for 26 years, and just served two children hot cocoa with mounds of whip cream with a smile on his face (it's barely 6 AM). I don't even need to try the breakfast burrito, it's already worth 5 stars.
I go to Carlos' country kitchento feel at home, and I do each time. I am also amazed by the variety of people who come to eat. We're all looking for that special feeling beyond excellent service, comfort food (often more than I can eat), and a family-friendly atmosphere.
Terrific food always. Small place huge value. Carlos is always very pleasant and welcoming. My favorite breakfast place in Santa Rosa. Lunch is also great. The hamburgers are huge. Sandwiches are delicious too. Such good people.
Absolutely! Everything about this place is incredible. I love that it's a little hole in the wall restaurant. I love the food's delicious. I love the atmosphere and the people that work there. They're all friendly and just awesome. Would definitely suggest to anyone and everyone I know to eat there.
The service was outstanding! Really felt welcome like family. Ordered soda and got our refill at the same time which is great because you don't have to track down your waitress to get more not that we had to because everyone was so attentive. Ordered the Hash brown and eggs breakfast. Everything was delicious, homemade and perfect. Big portions too! My husband ordered the Chicken fried Steak and eggs with extra homemade gravy.Did I mention they make their own fluffy biscuits!Mmm Definitely coming back with family! Thanks Carlos Kitchen!
This is an old blue collar diner. But the food is excellent. The staff work hard but truly appear to be happy. Carlos welcomes and thanks every customer. It feels great. And tastes even better.
Very personable Diner breakfast! Opens up at like 5 in the morning. The place is pretty small but the staff are very quick and one can expect their food within a timely manner despite the size of the place. The type of place were the staff knows a lot of the regulars by first name. The food is very tasty down to earth home cooking kind of style. I would recommend to have the cottage fries with the gravy on it! My go-to is the guacamole omelette with the cottage fries.
Great food 😋, great service. Friendly people, the food has the homemade feeling, not like just another restaurant.
Really enjoyed the experience. Came over for my birthday on a rainy day, and had a good time enjoying the good food with my family; the pancakes were huge, the waiters and employees were nice, and the freshly squeezed orange juice was good as well. For a small restaurant in Santa Rosa, The wait time only took 10 minutes for four breakfasts. Would recommend to anyone who wants a good breakfast, very satisfied.
Amazing breakfast spot. Your traditional hole in the wall joint that has amazing food and great personable service. While waiting for your food, but the banter between the regulars and the waitresses you can't hell but feel at home and just apart of their family. Big portions that will leave you full and completely satisfied. I don't live in Santa Rosa but whenever I'm down that way during the breakfast hours, I always have to either stop in and eat or get it to go. Chicken fried steak is amazing and definitely could be enough for 2-3 people. The ambiance is your typical hole in the wall type of ambiance which makes it even that much better and it does have outside seating especially now with covid you can have that option and everyone wears masks and is very aware of the rules and regulations set forth by the state and county and they abide by them so there's no issue of not feeling safe or feel like they're not to code in any way. I highly recommend this restaurant. So if you're ever in Santa Rosa and you're looking for a place for breakfast/lunch, don't be afraid to stop on by it's well worth it and don't let the outside scare you away, because it is one of those rare gems that you definitely need to check out. I've never had lunch there but I can imagine if it's anything like their breakfast, then be prepared for huge portions and great quality food but I can't personally speak on their lunch menu.
This place is very very good. My girlfriend recommended I come here. The food is excellent and some of the staff is friendly. Carlos has been around for years, and every time I come here they never ever disappoint me. Anyone who wants a good breakfast should definitely come here. No money will be wasted at all. You definitely get what you pay for here. They give you a good portion of food. I’ll always come back here.
I've never had my breakfast served up so quickly. The owner husltles along side of his employes. The baken strips are nice and thick. Good place to eat!
Okay I'm not even being dramatic here I'm just like a 28 year old woman but their country fried steak tastes and looks phenomenal, their employees are awesome and super sweet to me and welcoming even though it was super duper busy.. they didn't have that under pressure feeling at all.. and let me tell you country fried steak and eggs holds true to my heart.. so I don't joke around about it their food is delicious even though it's speedy but not like gross speedy.. anyways they're awesome and I live nearby and I will return..💜💜💜
It's a great place for a delicious breakfast. The portions are generous, and the staff is friendly
I love going to carlos's kitchen they make really good food very nice employees and Carlos is awesome he says hi to you the good is really good.
Outrageously good! The crew obviously all love working there, the food is not only excellent but huge portions. Our omelet and Philly cheese with sides were easily enough to feed four people!
Mine and my mom's favorite breakfast place! We go frequently for their great food and warm, competent service. We are greeted by the owner, who stops by the tables to say hello; always with a welcoming smile. Just a wonderful experience.
We absolutely loved this place. It feels like an old American diner. Food is really good and portions are big. The waitress recommended sputs and let me tell you it did not disappoint. Service was also really good and friendly. Also very child friendly. Can't wait to go back the next time we are in Santa rosa.
Definitely coming back to this spot was really pleased with all of the menu options. The staff was friendly and courteous.
Been going here for over 20 years. Food is always good. Carlos, the man, the myth, the legend is often there. Staff is friendly!
1st time at Carlos' Country Kitchen. It is a small place that has been around for a long time. Had breakfast. Outstanding. If you are a snob, you won't like it. But, for those that work hard can really enjoy the food.
Great place to have breakfast, Carlos is an awesome human being.
Easily one of the best places to grab breakfast in Santa Rosa. Service is fast, food is great and it’s all at a reasonable price!
my wife and I found this place while looking for a breakfast/brunch place. we love this place great food and friendly staff. prices are great and portions are big. i love there omelettes and burgers. we continue to go back time and time again.
Have eaten here for years only had one minor problem here, and that was in the parking lot.
Family friendly, local vibes, delish breakfast- highly recommend Carlos’ Country Kitchen! Had the most delicious enchilada omelette - generous portions, Will be back!
One of the best breakfast burritos I’ve had , my husband loved his pork chops and eggs . Really recommend thank you definitely will be back !
This is one of those places you might drive past while looking for a quick bite and think, no way, purely based on how it looks from the outside. And to be fair, the inside could use some updating as well. The tables are a little funky, the whole place could benefit from a renovation, and yes—the bathroom is outdoors (though it is clean). But let’s get to the real reason you stop anywhere in the first place: you’re hungry. And let me tell you; you will not be disappointed. The food here is absolutely outstanding. I have never had a breakfast this good from a restaurant. Ever. It’s clearly homemade, made with care, and completely unmatched when it comes to both quality and portion size for the price. You can taste the effort in every bite. If you’re anywhere in the area and looking for breakfast, this is the place to stop. Hands down. The best.
My hubby and I enjoyed this cafe. We came for breakfast about 6am. Looking at it from the outside, you may not think much of it. We were thinking about going to Denny’s. We were very happy that we chose to try Carlos Cafe. I was reading a review and I saw some of the pics, so I decided we should try it out. Thank you Carlos for the hospitality and the thanks chef for the delicious food. Hearty and Tasty. I ordered their Enchilada Omelette and the side of (2) pork chops, Hubby ordered (2) Pork Chop with eggs and a side of corned beef hash. Everything was great. Yes, we are not small eaters. Thanks Again for the previous review!!! Thanks Carlos and Chef!!! sorry no pics because we were ready to eat and forgot to take pics…
Service was quick. Showed up about 30 minutes prior to closing. Staff got in my order quick and food came out just as quick it seemed. Ordered Biscuits and Gravy with over medium eggs and sausage. Coffee was hot and brewed correctly. Didn’t get any bars but there was a woman with a southern accent that was very kind and knew the menu well. Would like to come here with more time and try other things as they have a lot of items on the menu that sounded really tasty. Great mom n pop diner for price and food is great!
I have been coming here for 3 years now. I love this place so much. The staff makes you feel cared for and are always friendly and attentive. Highly recommend!
This is one of THE best restaurants in Sonoma County! The food is terrific, the atmosphere is warm and homey and the staff, including the owner who greets you when you come in, are super fantastic. So, come for the food, for the warm welcome and be fed in multiple ways!
Visiting from FL. We stepped into a quaint diner that gave the vintage vibes of the 80's. Carlos himself waited on us. The atmosphere was inviting and the patrons were obvious regulars who greeted one another fondly. The Biscuits and gravy and French toast were flavorful and filling. We'd definitely come again if we're in the area!
Absolutely delicious! Cute older spot the food is so good! Love that they have breakfast options without eggs ( I'm allergic to to eggs😭) great atmosphere will definitely be coming back.
I just fell into the most incredible time warp here... No joke. This place is a dream. Not sure how I got here, but so glad to be here... Plates are large and so delicious (I had biscuits&gravy with poached eggs and sausage links--everything was cooked to perfection--and I also enjoyed bottomless coffees,a hot chocolate with whipped cream, and a root beer float!) ❤️🪩❤️ I don't think my life will ever be the same... ❤️😁🌈
We LOVE this restaurant! The food is amazing with great customer service. We ordered the corned beef hash & eggs and hot links omelet, both with hash browns. Everything was cooked to perfection and our coffee was refilled promptly without having to ask for it. Our waitress Carol was very friendly and attentive. Definitely one of the best breakfast spot and will definitely be back when we’re in the area! Thank you Carlos… your place is a gem!
What a great diner experience! There are so many WONDERFUL options to choose from and it was tough to decide! They are very accommodating to make 2 egg omelettes rather than 3 and the super spuds are a skillet without eggs - which is just my jam! They can customize almost anything to suit your taste! Great food and good friendly service! So nice to find a local place with good local folks! This is a great place to enjoy breakfast or lunch in a welcoming environment with good food! Seems like a place regulars meet up! Thanks Carlos, this place is a treasure!
Laurel is the best! She is super nice and knows exactly what I like. I'm a regular so it's nice to not repeat my usual order. Food is amazing. Definitely get your $ worth.
We got our order to-go because of Covid and our food was ready relatively quickly, which we appreciated. The pancakes were tasty and fluffy and my eggs were cooked perfectly. I was disappointed with the sausage, which resembled a hamburger patty in both the taste, look, and texture. Also, the gravy had oregano in it, which is a flavor that I’m particularly not too fond of in biscuits and gravy (don’t get me wrong, I love oregano ...just not in white breakfast gravy). The portions are MASSIVE, especially the pancakes. You will not leave hungry that is for sure.
As other reviews have probably made note of, this place is fairly small, with less parking than would be ideal. But the interior has plenty of mirrors and windows that make the space feel bigger, and the food is very good. You also get bang for your buck here. You get a sizeable portion of food for a really decent price, and it's tasty! Try the orange juice, by the way - it's super fresh.
It's a working man's & truckers diner, need I say more? Don't take your grandma here. Food is good, average portions. Service is excellent. Reasonable.
Overall a great place to stop. Large portions and the food is good. It's a classic diner with a menu that matches. Coffee? Check. Pancakes, waffles, eggs, bacon, biscuits? Check it all off. The place is a tight fit if you have a party of 4 or more. The furniture and decor can be described as rustic country. But the wear and tear is from years of usage vs designed to look old. Don't expect fine dining, expect being filled up with your classic American breakfast and having that craving satisfied. Also, the biscuits are warm and fluffy. Those are the types of biscuits that are dangerous.
The service was patient and competent. We were able to sit outside and they accommodated for large groups, multiple checks. I had the chicken fried steak and eggs with hash browns and it was good. Eggs cooked nicely over medium, gravy was good, the chicken fried steak was good. The hash browns ok, but they usually hard to get perfect. Next time going to try the country style potatoes. Wife had the waffle and it was good.
Genuine kitchen vibe. Portions huge. Food was good Bathrooms outside Orange juice warm and bad
Displace what's great, You get total Bang for your buck. The owner Carlos works there waiting tables and The food reminds me of an old school country diner... But in Sonoma County ! The inside is a little Dated but that's OK you come there for food and I got to say breakfast was excellent. I had the half order of super spuds, the enchilada omelet and some Sourdough toast. The prices are Reasonable and I highly recommend it for a down home country breakfast..
The service is a little slow when dining in. I assume due to the quantity of to-go orders. But when you order take out it's super quick. I got the breakfast sausage w/eggs and cottage fries. I wasnt too thrilled with sausage. Their omelettes, french toast, waffles w/strawberries & whip cream are beautifully presented & the best!
Meh. Maybe an off day. Neither of us were impressed. Hub had corned beef and hash plate with eggs and a biscuit. Gravy is extra. I had 1/2 order of the potato dish. Fairly average country styled food, just not a lot of flavor.
It smells really good when you pass by but no one could identify the dish. Ordered a way overpriced sandwich and drink. It wasn't great but it wasn't bad. I'm sure if I tried a more apt dish like a house plate, I would have enjoyed it more. Will def go back to sample other wares and possibly boost my score.
It was expectedly extremely busy when we visited (late Sunday morning), so we were stuck waiting pressed against the wall and in front of the door for a while until a table opened up. It wouldn't have been as bad if there were just a tiny bit more room to stand. The staff was friendly and helpful even if rushed due to how busy it was. The menu is huge and filled with all of the breakfast foods you can imagine. The corn beef hash was delicious and the portion size was awesome. The biscuits are amazing, though I personally did not like the sausage gravy at all. The booth was quite uncomfortable and it was incredibly loud (understandably) in there, but we'd definitely go back if we wanted a ginormous amount of yummy breakfast food!
I still remember that very first day Carlos opened he had his daughters. There couldn't have been more than 6 and 8 years old. The place was pretty busy. I ordered steak eggs hash browns and a full order of biscuits and gravy. The waiter she ended up working there for many years said to me hunny if you can finish the biscuits and gravy, I'll buy you the steak and eggs." I thought to myself breakfast half off. I worked for karuza plumbing scott Karuza, and I was waiting for our food siping coffee when the waiter came out with a thanksgiving turkey tray. I thought our foods were here. Wrong, my food was there. $4.95 back then . 4 massive butter milk biscuits each 5 inch tall or more. Soft moist biscuits smothered in mouth watering sausage gravy. Over 2 decades of bliss . Unfortunately, like all good things, they come to an end. I was there first thing Monday morning, ordered up my normal b, and gravy. I got rock-hard white urinal wafers. Maybe 1/2 inch thick. The biscuits were not edible. My dog wouldn't go near them. The eggs were done perfectly like always, but the hash browns were different pre made and frozen. I don't know. I was heartbroken. The last good restaurant has fallen. I got love for you, Carlos. That's why it ripped my heart out to say I only took 3 bites and tried to feed it to the dog who ran from it eventually was thrown away, basically untouched. Or maybe I'm just stuck in the past remembering when food tasted like food. Fruit was sweet but I guess we gave up all that for the collapsing dollar. 😪
1 star for the Country Fried Steak that was definitely NOT fried and was chewy and soft. We ordered two of them and they both came that way. This is not where you want to order fried steak. Overall 3 stars because I like the coziness and layout of the place. Staff were nice as well.
update: I feel the quality has gone downhill. last three times I went in the food wasn't very hot and today my patty was pre cooked which has never happened. not busy for a Sunday morning. Good greasy spoon. Hand made sausage patties. Great potatoes and homemade waffles. I also love that they don't use carton eggs for scrambled.
I wanted to love this place. It was good but fell short in a couple spots. The eggs were good hash browns needed butter the country fried steak needed some help. Over all the food was ok. The owner was a gentleman and very nice. I would go beck and it's hard to judge on a one time experience. Not to mention I'm no Guy Fieri food critic. This place had a nice vibe and it was clean and the staff and owner were 👍
The waiter was very rude... smile only when come to bring thr bill Food was good !
Good hollandaise sauce on the eggs Benedict. Classic diner environment, Carlo's is friendly as can be.
Came here because it had good reviews...but it was just alright. Parking was limited. There was a lot of variety of food but it bit on the expensive side. As soon as we sat down we got asked what to drink, but literally a minute after was asked if we were ready to order. We just got there, definitely not ready. Large portions of food so somewhat worth the money if you want to share with so someone. We felt like they wanted us out as soon as we were done eating. Lots of stares from the workers. Is it not ok to sit and chat with a friend...especially if it wasn’t busy.
Completely overpriced and underwhelming restaurant. We were never asked if we wanted refills on our drinks and the server didn’t ask once how our meal was. I’m confused as to how this breakfast for two should have been close to $50 for an average product. Confused…
Two eggs two pancakes. There's no way there's two eggs on my plate. More like only one egg. Just because it's scrambled does not mean I cannot tell what two eggs look like. Quality of food is Below average.
Not gonna lie the food wasn't that great , I used to really enjoy Carlos' kitchen but it's been a few years . My mom got chicken fried steak and it tasted like flour and garlic powder her potatoes were very soggy and eggs weren't cooked right . I got pancakes that were dense. The service was good and the atmosphere was nice the food just wasn't good
We had not been here for 5 years (moved to Windsor) and we will never return! Food was very substandard The Poached eggs were over cooked Country Potatoes we’re tasteless Chicken Fried Chicken was without proper breading and tastelessness Biscuit was not fully cooked (no color) And they use margarine (gross) The menus are falling apart - held together with tape The only thing that was good was the ice water $50 for two and it sucked We will stick to having breakfast any where but at Carlos Country Kitchen
This place went from 5stars to 1 in the past few years. Everything comes from a can or frozen and they just heat it up. My husband kept giving them another try bc they were so good before but he has gotten food poisoning from them 3times now so he finally stopped going. It's unfortunate bc the service used to be great and it's so unbelievably bad now in every way. I recommend going down college a few blocks and getting Cafe Mimosa, I've never gotten sick from their food.
Before covid I would rate 5 stars...just went in today...the prices are outrageous for a hole in the wall ok fine I get it cause of covid prices went up...BUT the service should go up to or at least not go down. I asked for our cold coffee served to us to be warmed up only to burn my entire mouth with it being scalding hot as if to punish for asking for actual hot coffee...not cold not boiling hot. Didn't even order food because I burned my tongue and wasn't going to pay $15 for 1 meal that I couldn't taste anyway. My Mom was given pancakes when she ordered biscuits and Gravy but when she told our waitress she didn't ordered pancakes she was told that is what she pointed at on the menu!!!??? We explained the whole situation to the owner/manager and were then treated like we were bad customers! I will never be back and never recommend again.
I had the heavos Ranchero breakfast asked for eggs to be medium. What I got was runny whites and yolk disgusting the bacon was so hard you could use it like a weapon. Waitress was nice and understood my dog had the $21 dollar breakfast if that's what you want to call it.
ordered a big group order. absolutely gross. chicken fried steak burnt, not breaded. hashbrowns burnt. gravy gross. we threw it away and got something else.
I went here today and the service was terrible the waitress was very rude to me and to my sisters. As that wasn’t a sign to leave already we gave them a chance and we stayed, I ended up ordering the chicken fried steak which was very rubbery and I only took maybe a few bites I would not eat here again as my experience was terrible
Food was EXPENSIVE (more like overpriced as i have no issue with buying expensive food) and BLAND. Honestly very gross food. Cheapest ingredients money could buy is what is cooked with here. i.e, margarine instead of butter & shredded cheese from the bag, which didn't melt in my husband's breakfast burrito (or my spuds which were nasty also) which consisted of shredded cheese, eggs and some nasty sausage links...not a bit of seasoning! Don't waste you time or your money eating at this restaurant. Bypass the good reviews and go elsewhere. Trust me. Family of 4...8 thumbs down!!
My husband and I were craving a diner experience and Carlo's had good reviews. I was suspicious from the second I sat down and there was food all over the floor under my booth. My husband got the biscuits and gravy with a side of bacon and I got the two egg breakfast with bacon. We sat by the kitchen and I saw them just pop my husband's biscuits in the microwave. I could tell that all my stuff was cooked in bad grease. I developed food poisoning like symptoms a few hours after I left and am still very sick 24 hours after eating there. Avoid this place at all cost. Very pricey as well. 7.99 for a side of bacon I could buy a whole pack for that!
Absolutely terrible! From rude waitress to food! I would save my money and eat any where else. Food taste bland and sour, main waitress is incredibly rude the moment I got there making snarky comments. I came home practically with food poisoning the amount of vomiting I did!
Good morning 🙏, My first brunch disappointment here at Carlos Country Kitchen. I had the Country fried steak. The country fried steak was like chewing gum. I told the waitress, but she didn't make it right, none, she went on to serve other customers. So I ate the eggs and hashbrowns because I couldn't wait anymore. Should I leave a tip? The food is usually good, but not today.
