Homemade and plentiful food. Exceptional service, very friendly… Excellent value for money compared to other restaurants in the area. The only downside is that it's always packed and, consequently, quite noisy.

A real find. Excellent homemade food, generous portions, and very reasonably priced set menus. I'd say booking is almost essential; otherwise, be prepared for a long wait in line. Both the interior and the terrace fill up completely, so the staff are constantly on the go, always smiling and enthusiastic, which is much appreciated. If you're looking for classic, uncomplicated cuisine, O Refugio is the restaurant for you.

The daily menu for €14.50 is absolutely spectacular. A 10/10. We went two days in a row, and the menu varies completely. So many options. For starters, I chose chickpeas with tripe, and both the quantity and quality were unbeatable. One of the best I've ever had. The macaroni Bolognese was also very good. On the second day, I tried the homemade tuna empanada, and it was delicious. For main course, I had pork chop with potatoes. The portion was very generous. The lasagna was obviously homemade, and the flavor was truly remarkable. Another very good option. On the second day, I tried the meatballs with tomato sauce, which also come with white rice. 100% homemade food. For dessert, they have a huge variety: we tried the baked cheesecake, which, while not the best, is okay, more like a quesada than a creamy cake, and the chocolate mousse, which is also very good. The second day, I opted for the Swiss roll, and of the ones I tried, I'd say it was the best (although it depends on each person's taste). Overall, a 5-star restaurant. It's not very well-received for the service they offer: home-cooked food, fast service, with a reasonable wait if you don't have a reservation, and very friendly and attentive staff. We'll be back!

A local resident recommended O Refugio to me. This restaurant opened at 1 pm. I arrived at 12:50 pm, and the server kindly let me get seated early. Shortly after opening, the restaurant was full with local workers. The food was very good with huge portion sizes, and the service was excellent. Thank you!

Comida casera en el centro de Portonovo. Trato familiar y cercano. Recomiendo la paella, riquísima y abundante. Disponen de menú del día al mediodía.

Primer plato variado y 3 o 4 segundos. Cada plato está bien servido y con cantidad suficiente de guarnición.

El restaurante está situado en la parte trasera del mercado ,hay un aparcamiento y al fondo se encuentra el establecimiento.Tiene una terraza exterior cubierta que en verano se agradecerá estar en ella,el interior también está bien.Pedimos el menú del día,de primero ensalada de marisco y segundo cocido,abundante y rico,las camareras amables y diligentes,relación calidad precio bien,el postre rico,es un euro a mayores si se pide.Sitio para volver cuando se rutee por ahi

We went on Thursday the 4th, a holiday. They charge a holiday menu for the weekday menu. The chickpeas with tripe are precooked, with a runny, unbound sauce and none of the tripe's substance. The regular main courses, since everything comes with potatoes, are perfect.

A busy place with a decent set menu for €14.50. The portions are generous and the quality is good, but in my opinion, it could be improved. It's best to book in advance, but they only accept reservations until 2:30 pm because with the long queue, they continue to serve walk-ins. The service is friendly and efficient.
