My wife and I had lunch at Sartaj today on a recommendation. We are very familiar with Pakistani, Indian and Nepalese cuisine and found the food excellent in all respects. Service was most friendly and attentive. The atmosphere was pretty quiet — ideal for us — though it may be more lively in the evenings. We will definitely make the trip over the Golden Gate Bridge to visit again.
If you are in Sausalito this place is a must go for Indian Food Lovers! An authentic north indian food you might not find any where in bay area. Owners are super sweet and every single dish we ordered blown our mind away. You will get a taste or indian dhaba or it might remind you of your really yemmi Moms food. Paratha and Mango lassie was the winner but definately try verities of thali and the chapati is the best I have ever had. Must Must Must Try!!!
Delicious food and very attentive staff. Recommending.
Wonderful little Indian place that's perfect for locals. Their staff is friendly and never makes you feel rushed. The food is wonderful and the quality remains consistent. I love the pakoras and lentil soup. Quickly becoming a weekly habit!
Very good restaurant Delicious food lamb curry Nan is too good !
Very friendly environment and good food Recommended
We loved our dinner at Sartaj. Delicious curried chicken with coconut and very accommodating with no fuss to a dairy free diet. The mango lassi was delicious and best naan ever! We ate outside. Just lovely and relaxing. They are moving next door soon and will have more space. I wish them all the success. We will return for more.
A friend suggested this place. I am glad I drove through those scissors to find this place. Had amazing food, kinda chill atmosphere. The mango lassi was amazing. And to top it all, the owner was the most warm and welcoming person I've met in my life. Kudos to him and the restaurant.
Quite good experience. I really like the staff quite attentive and respectful and food was delicious good quality. Pure home vibe . Thank you
Must visit Indian restaurant nearby area. Carried indian taste. We tried Chicken momos, butter chicen , lamb tikka masala and garlic naans,
This place is phenomenal and our server Ronny was the absolute man. They brought out free lentil soup to start, the tikka masala was fantastic, and the chicken kebab that came out on a hot skillet was great. This place deserves more love.
Finding this restaurant has been a pleasant surprise since moving to Sausalito! I went with a Nepalese friend interested to see how much of the menu is influenced by Nepal, and we were pleased to see a consistent Nepalese theme to the decorations inside. That convinced us to stay and order, and the food was excellent. The momos were very flavorful, the chow mein was spicy and delicious (“hot” was plenty for me, “Indian hot” is likely too much for most patrons!), and all meat dishes were juicy and nice to look at. We agreed that this is a place we’ll need to go to again and again!
We were visiting from Dallas and had a great experience at Sartaj Indian Restaurant! We started with samosa chaat, pakora, samosas, and aloo paratha—all were fresh and flavorful. For the main course, we had paneer tikka masala, chana masala, and dal makhani. The food was delicious and well-spiced. The mango lassi was refreshing, but the highlight of our meal was the chai—absolutely the best! Great place for authentic Indian food. Will definitely be back!
when I entered the restaurant, I was not expecting the food to be this good, but trust me. It is actually very tasty. We tried momos Aloha Samosa and Chole Bhature.
Indian food to the finest at best price possible. This place gave me a reason to visit this small town outside SF. The food is brilliant and so is the service. The lady here is really considerate about her guests and takes care of their preferences. The food taste is authentic especially for vegetarians. There are good options to choose from even for starters. Pricing is brilliant. We ended up paying 85$ for 5 folks who ate their heart out. Awesome place. Must recommended if you are in this town.
Nice place and good service. Ample of Indian dishes and price is really right. This place is good for family and is not an upscale place. It's a good restaurant and you can enjoy every meal. Goid for kids. This place does provide beer and tea as well. Parking area is low and there is not much for disabled parking. This area is near the beach and one can easily commute to it.

As an Indian visiting the States, this place serves awesome home cooked food. The taste was amazing and it was a small, cozy place that served veg as well as non-veg food. Enjoyed eating here. Thanks for the good service.

Delicious flavors, friendly service, inviting atmosphere. Special Nepali dishes and hospitality - their momos are fantastic. Thali, naan, desserts, mango lassi, all are great. Chai bar featuring almond milk option is also a unique delight. Extensive menu has us going back often.
Really nice food and flavour. We had a group of 7 enjoying chicken, lamb, fish samosa, rice , naan , chickpea and every dish was a hit. Bring your appetite and enjoy some real indian cuisine here !! Nice and clean place and open atmosphere with a beautiful outside seating area. Was very happy about this choice
Nice to see this restaurant grow into a remodeled, bigger space. Years ago I used to get paratha and chai here when it was owned by a nice Punjabi family. Good to know that it is still just as good under the new management. Rajeev and team took good care of me. Thanks!
Fantastic place. Second time eating here, and the naan is very high quality. Curries are the right flavor! They’ve expanded into a larger place and it’s beautiful inside too.
Amazing biryani! The manager Ronny is very friendly and hospitable. In fact, all of the staff are super sweet and helpful. Great food and great service!
Delicious food! Always a good sign when Indian people, entire families, are often eating here. My faves: lamb vindaloo, butter chicken, Himalayan samosas, garlic and cilantro naan, chai. Live in town and have eaten here many times.
Great Chai!! Thoughtful, kind, staff- Roni, Sarita, Prakriti. Diverse seating options. Back garden or historic street view. Yummy food. Transportive experience
Loved the vibe and the food. We were traveling to CA and we went to restaurant after a busy day. My son loved the chicken biryani and samosa chat . The garlic naan was amazing and the sartaj special chicken curry was out of the world. Chola Bhatura was well made with the right amount of spice. Food was spot on and Ronnie’s service was a lot of fun - he made the kids laugh. Thank you for a great experience!

Sartaj is a charming Indian restaurant. Their new location represents a decided upscale move and is nice, better decorated, and much larger. The food is good and the service is great. A wonderful local lunch place.
I stumbled upon Sartaj once before while walking through Sausalito just before the CoVid19 shutdown. It’s a tiny cafe/restaurant that is def family run! Today, it was mid afternoon. Didn’t have lunch yet. Found Caledonia Street from memory. A crowd of people were eating outside in the blocked off pedestrian patios on the street. Went inside to order chicken tikka masala. It comes with basmati rice. Also ordered the almond chai tea (which is help yourself). The dispenser was at the bottom so there was only a mouthful or two of chai. Took awhile for the dispenser to be refilled. My food came and was delivered promptly. Gotta say the food was not hot temperature wise. Maybe it took some time to get brought out. Disappointing. Needed a little salt to bring out the flavor of the tikka masala. The chunks of chicken were dry :( I could have added an extra $4 on to get veggies and naan. I was not THAT hungry. Passed. I really have to try this place when the restaurant‘s kitchen isn’t so overwhelmed. The food probably would be hot and taste well seasoned. Food: 3.5 stars ⭐️ Ambiance: 3.5 stars ⭐️ Family effort for running this restaurant: 5 stars ⭐️
A nice place that serves indian cuisine in Sausalito. Chicken Momo was good. We tried kulcha and dal Makhani which was decent too. The staff is friendly and accommodates any special request you have.

Tasty food and good ambience. Staff is also very good. The view from hotel is mind blowing.
Affordable and yummy Indian food. No complaints just not the best Indian food I have had, but might be the best in the area. Would recommend friends check this place out if in town.

I stopped by Satraj Indian Cuisine for lunch as it was the only Indian place open in town at the time. Unfortunately, the food was underwhelming. We tried momos, two types of curries, and bread. The curries were served in very limited portions and lacked the richness and depth you’d expect from a good Indian meal. The momos were bland and didn’t leave much of an impression. Overall, it was a disappointing lunch experience.
Food taste was ordinary. Chole bhature were tasteless. Vegetable momos had excessive oil. Serving size of chole was less . Overall this place is not worth the visit.

Feel somewhat bad because I don't normally write negative reviews, but our experience was pretty bad. We waited for 15 minutes to be helped while the server was on her phone. When we got the food it was pretty so-so. 3 or 4 little pieces of lamb in the lamb tikka felt pretty stingy for an $18 entree. And there was also an incessant banging near in the kitchen (guessing they were prepping for the next day). If you can, skip this place and go to the city.
While the location is great and the staff is kind, the food is not good. As an Asian I know my food. This place didn’t have anything good. No good flavors that make me want to come back to the location. Overall food is oily and has no authentic flavors of India. For the price of the food, the food is not worth it. I will say this the staff is kind and welcoming. Hence the two stars just for that.

We went in for dinner, party of 12 people Monday evening 7/7/25. After dinner we told the girl charging my card to add 20% gratuity. She had already added the 20% to the bill but instead of telling me that, she added another 20% on top and never gave me a receipt. It was late at night and our grand kids were tired and crying, so we were not really thinking. I discovered this when I added all the items we ordered next morning. These guys cheat on their bills, double check the checks before paying. We paid $628 for 12 people for standard food.
Horrible experience overall. We ordered paneer tikka masala and dal makhani. The dal was just okay, nothing special. The paneer tikka was terrible — it definitely tasted like frozen, pre-made food, which matches what I later saw in other reviews as well. Very disappointing food quality and not worth the price. Won’t be coming back.
Food was bland, asked for spicy and it was less than mild. Service felt non existent. Butter chicken is tomato based but the menu won't tell you that. An experience I won't be experiencing again.
