Alma truly exceeded all our expectations. From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere was beautiful, warm, and inviting — such a perfect West x Southwest vibe. We ordered several dishes that immediately caught our eye on the menu, and every single one was a hit. The Addictive Strawberry Salad was incredibly fresh and perfectly balanced, the Truffled Mushroom Empanadas were rich and flavorful, and the Blackened Mahi Mahi was cooked to perfection with bold, delicious seasoning. We also loved the Butternut Squash Tacos and Fried Potato Tacos — so creative and full of flavor. To finish, the Blackened Mahi Tostadas were absolutely unforgettable. You can really taste the quality and care put into every dish. Portions were generous, presentation was beautiful, and the flavors were spot on across the board. On top of that, the service was attentive, friendly, and made us feel genuinely welcome. Alma is the kind of place you want to come back to again and again — whether for a special night out or just an amazing meal. Highly recommend to anyone looking for incredible food, great ambiance, and top-notch service in Scottsdale! We also went there for a brunch and it was amazing.
Beautiful location with some really cool outdoor seating! Definitely was a vibe inside with cool decor. Our food was amazing and the cocktails were delicious. Our waitress was pretty slow checking in when it wasn’t very busy but it’s ok. Would definitely come back for the cocktails!
Service was slow to start with no server coming to the table on the first 10 minutes. The food was very good. The pork belly appetizer was excellent. I would get the barbacoa tacos over the birria quesadilla. The chicken mole was tender and a lot of food.
A fine meal at a beautiful restaurant. Don't miss the Lobster Quesadillas or Chicken Mole. And the Elote Lollipops are memorable. Nice space, good food and good service. Nice trifecta.
10/10!!! We loved everything we ordered - the pork belly toast, the Brussels sprouts quesadilla, chicken empanadas and Birria tacos were stellar. Margarita flights are incredible. Absolutely recommend!
Our server Maria was absolutely amazing. Even with a group of 9 people, all of our drinks and food came out super fast and correct. The food and drinks were delicious and the atmosphere was great. We would absolutely come back.
Came for restaurant week and it was a vibe! Food was flavorful and salmon was cooked perfectly. The blueberry cornbread is a must have!
June 19, 2025 Repeat Visit When your out-of-town family says, “Take us somewhere local,” you take them to Alma. No hesitation. We were lucky enough to sit in Juan’s section again—our favorite server from a previous visit—and once again, he delivered next-level service with that perfect blend of humor, charm, and menu wisdom. Thank you, Juan! This time around, I went in a slightly lighter direction, starting with the Addictive Strawberry Salad—and yes, it lives up to its name. The combo of spinach, arugula, creamy goat cheese, toasted almonds, and juicy strawberries, all tossed in a bright raspberry vinaigrette? Some of my very favorite ingredients all in one dish? Yes, please! Chef’s kiss. We also shared the salsa trio—fresh, bold, vibrant, and the chips? Crispy perfection. Not a single crumb survived. My main dish was the Wild Mushroom Enchiladas and they might just be my new favorite. The herbed mushrooms and sautéed spinach tucked into those tortillas were rich and earthy, and the red chili sauce had just the right amount of heat. The side of southwest rice and sprinkle of pumpkin seeds made it hearty without being heavy. Oh—and I never skip the off-the-cob elote. Still obsessed. It’s got that buttery-crispy corn, chili-lime kick that hits every craveable note. Alma keeps delivering. And I keep coming back. No regrets. Just happy taste buds. May 9, 2025 First Visit May 10, 2025 Second Visit Is it a bad sign if you visit a "new-to-you" restaurant two days in a row? Maybe. But when the food is this good, who cares? Dinner Delight, well yeah! Night one at Alma started with drinks and apps. Juan, our awesome server, recommended the Blueberry Cornbread (hot, crispy, with honey butter) and Bacon Tater Tots (jalapeno bacon, cheddar jack, onion, chipotle crema, and tomato chili jam). Pro tip: Drag those hot tots through the cool tomato chili jam and I think your taste buds will do a happy dance. Cocktail of choice? The Spicy Chingona – prickly pear, lime juice, muddled jalapeno, and a mini sombrero for flair. The sweetness balanced the spice perfectly. We also tried the Alma Grand – a margarita with a DIY Grand Marnier pour, because who doesn't love drinks with a side of fun? Main courses didn’t disappoint. The Grilled Pork Chop (two juicy, bone-in chops with jalapeno bacon jam and charred veggies) was stellar. The Flat Iron Steak Fajitas with spicy pinto beans and warm tortillas hit every flavor note – perfectly flavorful medium-rare steak, smoky beans, and fresh guac. Brunch Bliss! Day two brought brunch, and since I’ve recently divorced eggs (long story), Aaron, our brunch guru, had me covered. The Chicken Enmoladas (no eggs, sub cowboy beans) were everything – soft corn tortillas, shredded chicken, and that Pumpkin Mole: smoky, sweet, earthy, and rich. It’s the kind of sauce that makes you pause and savor. On the side, the Avocado Toast with chunky guac, pomegranate and pumpkin seeds, and peppery arugula was the perfect complement. Alma has quickly become a new favorite. Food, drinks, and top-notch service – it’s worth the repeat visits. No shame. Just deliciousness.
Alma's didn't dissapoint at all! Had the pleasure of enjoying great food and flavorful drinks with an inviting atmosphere and perfect waitress. Christine was absolutely fabulous. Every suggestion she gave us was spot on and she checked on us often. You can't get any better with her and the level of service at Alma's. We can't wait to return when we get back in town!!!
We chose this restaurant for my mom’s 60th birthday and are so happy we did! We made a reservation for 15 a month in advance and Katie - the events coordinator - was so accommodating and nice. Christine was our waitress and she did a fantastic job with all our orders. Everyone’s food came out correct and we didn’t have to wait unusually long. The food itself was great, but the staff and nice ambiance was the icing on the cake. Would definitely recommend the birria quesadilla, the blueberry cornbread, Barbacoa tacos and the Diablo shrimp pasta.
Spacious, with indoor/outdoor bar and patio seating. The service was amazing. We started work chips and salsa. Wow! There were three types of salsa from mild to spicy. All three are my favorites. Lol. I tried the pork chops and substituted the sweet potatoes for whipped potates. The meal was hearty,,, very filling. The restaurant is located within a shopping center. There is plenty of parking. Accessible entrances.
Having only been once to Alma, we left saying, when we have guests visit us in AZ, we are taking them to Alma. Last night, we dined with visiting family and it was spectacular. We ordered ceviche and queso flamenado to share. Both excellent. Then we had several green pozoles and a shaved brussel sprout salad, amazing! For dinner, we had two Birria taco entrees, the pork chop, chicken mole and beef tongue tacos. Everything was cooked to perfection. Our server was fantastic and the manager remembered us from our first visit and came to our table to see how our meal was. Impressive customer service which is not a given these days. The variety of tequilas and mezcals are great with flights and lots of hand crafted cocktails to choose from. While we would have loved to have had dessert, we had to pass after sharing and feasting on so many awesome culinary delights. We won’t be able to wait for visitors to return, Alma’s menu has just too many options we want to try. We look forward to another 5 star dining experience at Alma.
We went for our anniversary and they make it perfect We adore our Server , appreciate everything We had a great time!
Loved the menu. The food was amazing as well as the drinks.
Alma has a stylish, swanky vibe, both indoors and al fresco. The corn chowder ($12 plus tax) was excellent. The watermelon salad ($18), while good, would have been perfect if there were more cheese crumbles and the chiles sliced ultra thin.
This restaurant is so underrated and I cannot believe it has only 4.3 stars on Google Maps now! We ordered Christmas tamale, AI Pastor taco, beef tongue taco, chicken mole, lobster quesadilla. Everything was super delicious, some light and cheesy, some super savory, all bring unique flavors and wonderful journeys for the palette. Environment is nice and service is quick. My favorite is the chicken mole, highly recommend! Would love to visit again!
Best of best cocktail and staff at the restaurant are sweet and kind! It’s going to be my favorite cocktail hangout ever
The tater tot bites! So yum! The birria, almost like home! I personally got the steak to ease my pace and it was basic. Beautiful patio area and food representation. I would go back if I was in town.
Great spin on Mexican food. Done well with interesting flavor combinations. The ambiance is romantic and classy. Not your everyday Mexican restaurant. The pork chops had a great flavor profile. The Elote was the best I've ever had. Great cocktail menu as well.
The Christmas tamales were great I have never had tamales that good. The drinks were unique and very flavorful. The chips and salsa is not complimentary and it is very small salsas. The guacamole is pretty small too but really creamy and delightful. I liked the corn on the cob too.
My wife and I went to Alma in Scottsdale for Valentines Day, a beautiful restaurant serving authentic Southwestern and American cuisine. The decor is modern southwest with a great patio and lounge area and a very inviting atmosphere. They offered Valentines couples dinner for $125 per couple as well as the regular menu. We selected the Lobster Quesadilla $28.00 and Birria Consome $21.00 both were excellent and we can't wait to go back and try some of their Tapas at happy hour and enjoy their lounge.
The restaurant is absolutely gorgeous! There is plenty of patio seating and the inside is stunning! My husband had The Shrimp Diablo and he couldn’t stop talking about it on the way home! He also loved the sweet potato pie that comes with the pork chop! I had the barbacoa tacos and they were outstanding! Oh yeah, the empanadas were delicious too! We will be back for sure!! Great place! Great service and great atmosphere!!
This modern Mexican tapas restaurant has so many incredible dishes. The Mahi tostada and the ceviche were so fresh and delicious. The stylish atmosphere is a great backdrop for a night of sharing small plates with friends and family. With fun cocktails and beautifully presented dishes, it’s a must try for Mexican food lovers.
Love this place and will be back for sure. Great happy hour, but also amazing vibes and, well, everything. Try this place out. They have extremely good cocktails, a great variety of beer. The views, the food, drinks and everything including parking was great. Plenty of options here. Try em out. Eric was a bomb server, will honestly try to sit in his section again. He was amazing and told us a lot about the place and others they own.
So glad to see Alma back. The lobster quesadilla is fantastic. Great outdoor patio as well as indoor dinning. Now open for Brunch. Fantastic chillaquiles and benedict Update as we went once again for Brunch: I cannot give enough stars for the food and the staff at ALMA in Scottsdale. We are regular diners at ALMA which never disappoints, but people should be lining up to try their Southwest BRUNCH MENU on the weekends. They offer mouthwatering unique brunch dishes including Lobster Benedict, Barbacoa Tacos, Berry pancakes served taco style with whipped cream. Every dish is exceptional and full of flavor. ALMA has a large patio with umbrellas for shade and a beautifully designed interior, that is perfect for a date night or larger parties Bring your family, your clients and out of town visitors to Alma for a unique dining experience. You won't be disappointed.
They were super busy they seated us right away. Service was delightful. Food is excellent. Had a great time. Hannah is the best server ever!!!
The decor is so welcoming and very stylish. We had a large group and the service was excellent. The chili lime salmon was cooked perfectly. Super crisp yet moist. The potatoes and sauce were excellent. The bacon tater tots and queso flameado con chorizo were really good. The chips were super fresh and salted perfectly. They converted a tequila bottle into the soap dispenser in the bathroom-so cute!
Outstanding food , atmosphere and service. Be sure you give the bacon jalapeño tater tots a try - they are exceptional. And if you are lucky, Angel will serve you. He is professional, caring, and has a complete understanding of the menu. This menu offers many options for those of us with celiac - a definite plus. We will be back
Angel provides excellent service and speaks perfect Spanish. He treated my family and me with respect and was extremely patient throughout our visit. He was attentive, professional, and made us feel very comfortable. The restaurant is truly lucky to have someone like him on their team. He also has a great smile and prepares outstanding drinks, which added to an already great experience.
Loved Angel, our bartender and waiter. Extremely attentive service. We had chicken empanadas and green chili with chips which were both phenomenal. We will go back to Alma on our next visit to Phoenix.
Had an early dinner with my wife there this evening. Great service from Angel in the bar area, he made the whole afternoon wonderful with great drinks & advice on their food specialties to try. It’s was nice to have great service & food in the same setting. Highly recommend this restaurant to anyone wanting fresh authentic Mexican food. Mark & Barbara Cochran
Ty was the best server. It started raining on us on the patio and he helped us get a spot inside. He makes the best espresso martini and really was great and made the night more fun with jokes. The food was amazing especially the lobster quesadillas! I will for sure be back and request Ty!
I came here for brunch with a group of about 7. Service was great and fast. The food I was skeptical about just because of the area and such but it truly was so good. I ordered the fried cod tacos and it was a perfect balance of everything. All of my friends loved their food as well. Drinks were amazing and a good balance. Our server, I think his name was Issac, was so funny and perfect and did a great job at explaining what dishes were. I’ll be back for sure.
We had a really fun and enjoyable dinner mostly due to our waitress Christine. She was so kind, made us feel so special for our celebration and helped us with menu recommendations. Great service makes all the difference! Delicious food and drinks as well
We stopped by Alma for their Happy Hour before heading to the theater, and we wanted something a bit lighter and 'easy to eat' before the show, and they have a great variety of small dishes. We got the Empanada con Pollo, the best of our selection which was a filling blend of chicken, cheese, and chiles. Shrimp Guacamole was fresh, though they happened to be out of the plantains that usually accompany it during our visit. Barbacoa Tacos were ok. The beef was served with a very watery sauce/liquid that we weren’t quite sure about—it lacked the richness we expected. Red Blend went well with the spread. The service was prompt and attentive, which we really appreciated since we were on a timeline. The atmosphere is chic yet relaxed—a perfect spot to graze before an event, even if a few details were a hit-or-miss this time.
The food is creative and fresh and full of flavor. Portions are substantial and it is a lighter, healthier take on Mexican. The menu changes seasonally and the drinks are craft with thought. The owner is very hands on and interested making a delicious and positive experience.
Super cute little restaurant. I came for brunch and made reservations ahead of time. We were seated immediately at our reservation time. Our server was super friendly and welcoming! She helped us answer our questions and we ordered our entrees right away. We only ordered the avocado toast with eggs and egg white fritatta. Our food took almost an hour to arrive. Mine came out about 5min before my husbands. Everything tasted fantastic though.

Classy Mexican influenced restaurant. Good selection of cocktails. Some dishes served tapas style. Bacon wrapped shrimp was delicious with a nice smokey hint. Empanadas were a bit doughy but nice filling. Grilled shrimp rolls were also good but a touch too spicy for our taste. The birria consomme was a large portion, very well cooked beef with a dip. Finished off a satisfying meal with banana nachos, plenty to share. Service was very friendly and efficient. Spacious and well decorated mostly, the fake cacti were a little cheesey. Would eat here again if in the area.
Drive past the place about hundred times but it is packed with a huge patio. Today was a little warm for the patio, 110F, but the misters had us considering it. Decided on inside and the inside is beautiful. We decided on a “fake” tequila margaritas which was nothing special, maybe a little too sweet. The jalapeño tater tots were not very jalapeño. The red chili, butter nut squash taco, and the pork belly taco/lettuce wraps were awesome. The only complaint was the slow service coming for our order and to bring the bill. Definitely a younger crowd vibe. There were at least three bride maid parties going on.
What ambiance!!! Beautiful inside and outside. Tables felt like cheap backyard patio furniture but the setting makes up for it. The food is really good. Servers were friendly and maybe a bit absent minded and would walk away mid table placing orders. We had appetizers, dinner, dessert and drinks. We had a group of 7 and the cost was around $100/person. Lobster quesadilla was my absolute favorite. Also tried the BIRRIA CONSOMME. I could have passed on dessert as it was just ok. Dinner however was 5 stars!
Great spot for your Mexican cravings. Everything we ordered was delicious from my veggie butternut squash tacos to my partners pulled beef enchiladas 🌮 The fresh chips and guac definitely hit the spot. Portions are generous and we left with a doggy bag. Service at the hostess stand was great. Our waiter seemed openly displeased to be waiting on anyone which is the only reason I give it 4 out of 5, but the rest of the servers were on their game. Also, if you have noise sensitivity this place is bumping. 4 bachelorettes were happening in our short time there. Not a quiet romantic spot, but a hip, trendy vibe for sure. Gluten free and veggie options available
It’s a gorgeous restaurant with pretty good food! The service was abysmal though, we genuinely thought our server had just left or something. All four of us were looking around for her, we came for brunch and it was pretty empty so for drinks to take 15 minutes, our server seemingly forgetting about us, didn’t really make sense. Was a bit irritating
The first time here, the ambiance is really cool, the food I gave her three because it was just okay. It is very pricey for the quality food that is being given. But the service was nice. My waitress was awesome, You can sit from the inside and the outside. So, if you've never been here, come on down and check it out for yourself
Use to be our favorite place for happy hour but their overall menu and their happy hour menu have changed for 2026. Happy hour menu use to have half the items less than $10. All good food. Now just one item remains under $10. Happy hour guacamole for $12?! Most normal places are less than $10 without happy hour. Good bye Alma…. 😞
Alma delivers an upscale, visually inviting atmosphere, but the experience didn’t fully live up to its polish. The dining room is lively—bordering on noisy—and service felt disorganized for a large party, with uneven timing across tables. Cocktails and pours didn’t quite match expectations, and while the al pastor was bold and saucy, it strayed from the familiar. Come prepared for style over substance.
The decor of this place is great. It’s a super cool atmosphere and I loved the table setups. You feel like you are in someone’s nice home. Decor was a 5/5. Food was good but not amazing. The blackened mahi was very good, the scallops were ok. The drinks were either too sweet or too bitter. My wife got the $24 platinum margarita. It was bitter and not very strong. The service was also very slow. We ordered our second round of drinks when dinner was served and we didn’t get them until after we were done. It took them about 15 minutes to clear our empty plates as well. Overall decent food but probably would not go back due to the slow service and cocktails that missed the mark.
It took 10 minutes for the server to greet and ask for drinks. We had 15 in our group, most food came out cold, without the side dishes, which we had to wait for for up to ten minutes after the entree was served, and one person didn’t get their order until we were trying to get the bill and leave. It took another 40 minutes to get the bill. Portions were small and very overpriced. Service can only de described as bad. Pescada, another restaurant by this group, is excellent and could give Alma management lessons.
Too bad the atmosphere was better than the service and food. Very upsetting being that it's supposed to be in Scottsdale. My family was here from out of town. We had two waitresses. And my older family members male waitress was Amazing! They had 10 at their tables. They had their drinks, appetizers, main course, and even dessert literally back to back and on time. However, one of the young girls that came out, knocked over a glass, it broke all over my Aunt and the lemonade spilled all over my Aunt and then the girl got an attitude. Why get an attitude at my Aunt when "you" knocked over the glass. You broke the glass all over my Aunt and spilled the lemonade all over her. Everything was soaked on her. Her entire dress was wet. Over on my side of the table, Maria, and whomever she had helping her all came out super late with everything! It took maybe 20-30min for everything. And they brought everything out spaced out. It was all just bad. Very upsetting. They kept saying the Manager was coming out and the person never did. And we didn't get all pf our change. Oh and they literally sat everyone food with someone else. So crazy. Well, that's fine. Over 30 ppl, will never be back. Thanks.
Extremely overpriced for what you get. The guacamole is a tiny portion and the quesadilla which I had was tasteless. The margaritas are tasty but under strength and they are served in small glasses which are full of ice so the actual serving is very small vis a vis the price. Our waitress was great but service was SO slow. Not because of her but they were desperately under staffed. This is the third time we visited. First time was great, second so so and the third was as described. There are better and cheaper options for. Mexican in Scottsdale. Won’t be back.
