My family and I have been coming here for years and to all the other Avila's El Ranchito restaurants out there in LA since we are a long time Chicano family. Yes vatos locos you heard right this review is from an actual real Chicano family so yes it's actually good 🗣
Have never met an Avila’s that I didn’t love; today was no exception! Set along a quaint thoroughfare, with free angled street parking. It has a small footprint and they utilize every inch of it; so much charm, family/community history. Lauren J was the epitome of this brand; I was welcomed and treated like family. Adore their homemade salsa, chunky with fresh yumminess and a nice bite. The Grande Taco Salad with grilled chicken and a side of fajita veggies was delicious, huge - you get your money’s worth! This is a home run with filling, super delicious, affordable Mexican food in a fun location.
I love this location. The restaurant is beautiful. The food is delicious. I'm a huge fan of albondigas soup. It was perfect. They didn't skimp on the meatballs. I love the chips and salsa. Everyone at my table was really happy with their food and drinks. My only suggestion is that the servers could be a tiny bit more friendly. I know that it's very busy and so they want to get people out but when you go out to eat you also want to enjoy your time and not feel like you're so rushed to leave. I still highly recommend it.
Came in for the first time and I can say that I will be back! As I continue my search for the best potato tacos in SoCal, I can say that the ones here are fantastic! My meal included a watermelon margarita that was divine and tacos were fabulous. Good service. Good prices. Great food! Several plant-based options if that’s your thing. Try it!
We stopped in here during our long layover to get back home to Las Vegas. The staff was super friendly and didn’t mind us hauling our luggage in while we ate. Everything we had was delicious! The chips and salsa were so good. I had a cheese enchilada and my husband had a chimichanga, we both agreed it was a 10 out of 10. We don’t have great Mexican food in Las Vegas so whenever we are in California we always look for a great Mexican restaurant, this place did not disappoint. We will come back next time we are in this area.
What a fantastic quaint Mexican restaurant. We were greeted and seated immediately. The staff is warm, caring and friendly. I had the Cadillac margarita and a chimichanga that was amazing. The pricing is more then fair ND I cannot recommend enough this wonderful place to stop for a pleasant meal.
Yummy traditional Mexican food at Avila's El Ranchito on Seal Beach's Main Street! The chips and salsa were fresh and tasty and bought us some time to look over the menu! I ordered the fresh guacamole and chips to start and then chicken fajitas for the entree! Both were so good I would come back anytime! The beach and good Mexican food go hand in hand!! Def worth stopping in!
Invited my Aunt to brunch, I got there 15 minutes early and was turned away. So we walked around a bit and I came back to wait outside. Some other group came by with 5 minutes left to open and the staff let them in. Whatever, maybe they are friends. But that other group receieved drinks and had appetizers out before we even get asked what we want to drink? Pretty silly to me. The other group had left by the time our food comes out, I was very happy with my choice (shrimp) but the waiter never came back to check if we needed refills or anything else until it was clear we were done eating. Maybe I just got a rude waiter. I'd go again to double-check.
Delicious authentic took me back to my childhood the taquitos were a little not fried but other than that amazing and delicious the beans were off the charts
Fantastic location right on Main Street. Good selection. It's hard to beat the two tacos and soup. Fast service even though we don't mind waiting from our table just off the sidewalk, enjoying chips 'n salsa under a flaming heat lamp.
We just googled places near me on vacation and this spot came up. If you like Margaritas they have a whole page of different varieties. They also have beer and wine and a few cocktails. I had the chicken chimichanga. Very good. Chicken was very moist and flavorful. Ricevwas fresh and a nice side. Chips and salsa were good. My friend had the carnitas. She said they were good, nicely flavored. We could not make up our mind about dessert so we ordered fried ice cream and apple empanadas. Empandas had ice cream as well. Both desserts were yummy. Our favorite was the empanadas. Staff was friendly on arrival. Our food was dropped off and no one checked on us until we were done eating. Ordered dessert got it and then it was quite awhile until someone came back asking if we wanted the check. I would go back because of the food. Hopefully servers would be more attentive next time.
Prices are good, location is okay, people are nice and accommodating. Parked in a nearby public parking (3$), not too busy around 5pm. The food arrived straight away, it was good. The food is a little on the bland side, there’s no overwhelming taste and there weren’t any sauces on the table. I had to ask for some hot sauce to add more flavor to give it some heat. This isn’t typical of me to ask for extra hot sauce! I think I would pass on it moving forward.
I had been wanting to try this place. Went for the first time, Sunday afternoon, there were many empty tables so I couldn't really fall on "well, they were busy" as reason for the poor service. Also the food wasn't good, even accounting for the good location and what their exorbitant operating costs must be. Not here to post angrily, just really a mediocre at best experience for the price. I ordered a margarita and it came out after my entree arrived and was wrong, even after the server and I confirmed what margaritas were blended and which weren't. He tried to get me to keep it and I had to refuse three times. Then he asked if I wanted my drink as I'd ordered but I had already gotten my food (that was also mediocre) and just wanted to leave. I ended up just asking for a coke which came late and was a glass full of ice with little soda. The server knew he messed up so didn't come check if I needed anything for a long time so I only had a little soda after the drink mistake and was still charged for the soda. I ordered the chili Verde. The plate was $23 and the chili Verde had okay but pretty salty flavor. The texture and appearance was 4/10. I wouldn't have ever again. Rice was not good. Beans were fine. I wouldn't go here ever again.
We stopped in here to give this place a try, as we eat a lot of mexican food places. The place is small and quaint. However, clean and welcoming. After being seated, we were given chips and salsa right away. Thankfully because wasn't waited on til our chips and salsa were almost gone. Salsa had a great flavor with just the right amount of spice. The chips were freshly made and crispy. I got the Azteca burrito with Chile verde. The burrito had great flavor great size, would order again. It came with sour cream and guacamole, on the side topped with a green sauce and cheese. My husband got the chile Colorado. He would not recommend this plate. Not a great flavor was more like a beef mole. The smoky paloma was the worst tasting paloma, we have ever had. The chili mango margarita add a great flavor however, mostly ice and mixer was no alcohol to be found in both drinks would not recommend buying especially at $12 & $13. Overall tried wouldn't come back.
Stopped in at the bar for about an hour to have a beer and appetizer. The waiter immediately brought me chips and salsa. Ordered a quesadilla but it was kind of bland. The salsa tasted like the sauce was from out of a can. The bartender was attentive but not very friendly she didn't even tell me goodbye when I left. Best part was probably the Negro modelos I ordered!
This was my first time eating at this location. What a waste!!! What u ordered was real Mexican food. On top of that and bad service. The host purposely charged someone else's meal on my debit card? Over $100. And , yes I tipped.. the host thaf day was terrible, I even called back over the phone and he yelled at me and hung up and Hispanic guy.. food looks good from the photo 📸. Trust me, the beans taste out of the can and the rice was cold, tortillas were super hard and the salsa tasted like pace pacantè (the chips were even stale. Maybe the guy jist didnt like my face ro treat me the way he did.. he ignored me when I walked in (mind you it was empty) may two tables taken. I just grabbed a menu and sat myself. The host looked very upset . When other came in he greeted them with a smile, offering the world
My wife and I ordered online, GrubHub delivery. I ordered Tacos and Caldo, which was described as two crispy tacos and a cup of Avila’s soup. I received two wet and soggy taquitos, (not tacos) and cold tasteless cup of chicken soup. My wife ordered a shredded beef tostada and it was soggy, floating in water and cold. Our meals were terrible! GrubHub delivered our dinner in a short time, less than 30 minutes from time of placing the order. We only live about 5 miles from Avila’s El Ranchito on Main St. Seal Beach. We will never go to or order again from Avila’s El Ranchito Seal Beach.
If you like subpar Mexican food covered in cheese and watered down drinks this is your place. Salsa was no better than Pace with gigantic chunks of pepper and onion. The Camarones a la Diabla were anything but Diabla. The sauce was sour and in no way appetizing. The shrimp were lazily peeled with most in the shell still intact. The drinks were watered down. However the service was good
