We love this restaurant and go here about once a week for the best fresh seafood. The Caesar salad comes with a beautiful dressing, chilled fork chilled bowl croutons very crispy. Clam chowder is always just right not too thick not too thin very creamy. Great flavor. The sushi and the sashimi of course is their forte. The fish and chips is shrimp and fish and a wonderful light batter. Our favorite is the baked scallops wrapped with crab and bacon. But you’ve got to try The sushi made of Ahi and mahi, along with asparagus and avocado bits. Just the right amount of aïoli sauce dribbled across the top. Bon appétit!
Lovely place, with very tasty and well dished food. Our waiter taking our group order was amazing. Well versed with the menu and helpful by recommending dishes. Food arrived in good time and was lush! Nice variety on the menu too
Sushi was amazing. All 3 rolls we had were some of the best we’ve ever had. Our server Ryan was very friendly and attentive
One of my favorite Seal Beach restaurants. We brought our house guests tonight for their last meal before flying home. Wanted some place with lots of options, great ambiance and good cocktails. Nailed it! We started with some sushi before ordering our main meals. The Queen roll was delicious. I love the soy paper versus seaweed! The sashimi was also tasty. For my meal I god the ahi with garlic mashed potatoes and asparagus. I wish it wasn’t the fat asparagus. I like the thinner ones best. Hubby got the blackened swordfish. I loved it but he didn’t care that much for sauce. Can’t go wrong with crème brûlée for dinner. Need to go here more often. They’ve got tons of choices and many I need to try!
A great local place to have superb service, best quality better tasting seafood, sushi, some turf....better drinks and wine. Try the oysters mahe way. Finish with creme brulee and desert wine
Good service, great food, would go again. Artichoke was ok, but I don't really understand artichoke. The Mahe Mahi was great, great texture, not overcooked, just perfectly cooked. The Cha Pe No was amazing and filling. My only critique would be the crab in the Cha Pe No was a little too salty, but not sure if they could do anything about that or that's just the crab naturally is. Service was good, staff was attentive. We had to wait 30 minutes to sit down so I recommend getting a reservation. Great for a date night.
Excellent. Delicious food and a great vibe with a super knowledgeable and helpful staff. Excellent date night spot.
I went to Happy Hour. First time ever at this restaurant. My friend took us to the bar which is in the back of the restaurant. I bit dark but there were planty of screens airing different sporting events. The Happy Hour selection is limited but nice. The sushi comes out pretty fast. The fish so so fresh! The drinks are powerfully good. Our server was amazing! Always had a smile and ready to accommodate. I will be back!
Mother's Day at Mahe' with my son? Perfect! Relaxed atmosphere, terrific wonderfully prepared courses and amazing service (Skylar was our server and never missed a beat). We enjoyed oysters, coconut shrimp, watermelon and beet salad, cioppino, blackened swordfish and ended with creme brulee. Wow!

Although I didn’t think the drinks were that good, the ambiance was laid-back which was much needed after a stressful day at work.

3.5 stars to be exact. We’ve been coming to Mahe for years since we live nearby, and it’s always been a favorite. Lately though, it hasn’t been quite as good, which is disappointing. The filet has been coming out dry (even when ordered medium rare), and the sides feel rushed with little presentation. On the positive side, the sushi is still solid—and worth noting they offer an all-you-can-eat option at the sushi bar during a short daily window (haven’t tried it yet, but plan to). The atmosphere is rad—coastal, casual, and community-driven, which I love. For now, the sushi and vibe will keep me coming back, but I may have to get my steak fix elsewhere unless things turn around.
Really enjoyed my experience here. It had been nearly 15 years since I'd been here but it was just as good as I remembered. Pro tip: go on a Tuesday. Wine and sake were 50% off because...Tuesday! A good meal with good friends. Would definitely recommend this place and will definitely go again the next time I'm in the area!

Sep 14, 2025 Mediocre sushi, affordable prices. My first and last time here. I ordered all you can eat (for $37) and the cook has not even tried to hide how disappointed he was (probably cause I came 10 minutes before 6pm). If you still wanna try their sushi, I do not recommend ordering “all you can eat”. And not because of his behavior, but cause he slices the fish too thin in comparison with the size of rice pieces. I have ended up with all you can eat rice with very small amount of fish. The service was good: professional and friendly (except his reaction).

Staff was awesome. However we were misinformed about the food choices, so some who doesn't like seafood didn't have any choices for eating. They were very busy so it was very loud and pretty dark inside. We couldn't hear the other folks at our table nor really see anything inside.
Come on, Mahe! We loved your restaurant years ago and went often. We've now gone maybe 2 or 3 times in the last 6 years total. Why? Quality of the food has gone down! The menu is basically the same and we really liked it. The change is that there is no effort with quality control. My burger was flat, fries undercooked and cold. The dishes are mismatched now. Food just looks sad. I've attached a picture from yelp of a burger vs. my actual burger. The place was empty on Sunday night. We were surprised to be able to get in when the other places we tried were booked. This is why. Do better!
Went for Mother's Day and was left severely disappointed. The menu is really hit or miss. The French Dip sandwich was excellent but the sushi leaves a lot to be desired. The fish was often overpowered but the other ingredients instead of complimenting the flavor. Overpriced for what you get. My recommendation is to stick to the entrees. The service was awful. The servers often huddled around the kitchen area so service was very slow. They seemed annoyed when you would ask them a question. The food also came at very very different times. The kitchen didn't do a great job of timing the dishes. Maybe they just had an off day because the other reviews are pretty positive. I however won't come back and would not recommend it. Plus side theu have a parking lot.

I have absolutely no idea how this place is rated so highly. I do get the sense that the bar is a pretty great place for locals to hang and have some halfway decent food & drinks but both time I went here, it suuuuuuuuucked. First time, we just left after sitting at the table for 20 minutes and nobody had brought us water yet, never mind taken an order. The second time was for a birthday dinner. Food took forever and was average at best. Tasted like it had been sitting around for a while yet the fish was dry and overcooked. It’s on my “definitely do not return” list.

I’ve dined at this restaurant my entire life and tonight will definitely be my last. I’m vegan, yes I know let me have it, but not everyone in my family is… tonight my son decided that he wanted to celebrate his birthday with a delicious steak, so we naturally chose this place. Many times being vegan. I will ask if the chef would like to show his talents by having the liberty to make a plate out of whatever he has in the kitchen so long as it’s vegan. And the waiter accepted for the chef and they served us a bowl of white rice with a cup of steamed carrots, broccoli and asparagus 😂 and had the nerve to charge $15 🤪 I immediately felt embarrassed for how far the place has fallen. My son ordered a cut of beef wrapped in bacon, which seemed more like it was wrapped in ham. He had such a hard time cutting it, he had to resort to using the bread knife. They must’ve got rid of the chef and only kept the cooks. They used to have amazing desserts like the banana dread and this piece of heaven that came with a chunk of pineapple and now they have chocolate cake, or lava cake really??? What’s the difference 😩-save your money. I’ll post a picture of the food so you could see what it looked like after I added soy sauce.

Our meal was shocking! Ordered Fish and chips! The fish was 4 straight sticks like mush 4 skinny chopped shrimp sticks … The Cole slaw was some chemical we couldn’t eat. My husband ordered Maui Maui dinner with mash potatoes.. Luke warm potato’s , tough fish with a teaspoon of old mango sauce! We left it all on the table except a few French fries!
