Breaking bread is such a delightful treat. It’s where Jersey Shore meets the most delicious food served with a family atmosphere. Everything is homemade and delivered with the most wonderful smiles. I was craving their zucchini flowers for a very long time and to my surprise I even got Sunday sauce on Monday. It is a happy buzzing atmosphere. The baked goods are made special for us. So if you’re looking for a wonderful place to bring your family and friends look no further. Yes it’s family owned and yes the chef - well you will find her cooking her heart ❤️ out on premises. Bravo - 🙌- thank you for your hard work and dedication to your community.

Breaking Bread is a hidden gem nestled in the heart of Seaside Heights — the kind of place you might stroll past without realizing the magic happening inside. We were a party of eight and were greeted with warmth and genuine hospitality that set the tone for the entire evening. Every dish, from the very first appetizer to the final bite of dessert, was nothing short of exceptional — thoughtfully prepared, beautifully presented, and bursting with flavor. But what truly sets Breaking Bread apart are its owners. Their passion for both food and people shines through in every detail, making you feel less like a customer and more like a welcomed guest in their home!

Lovely backyard seating and delicious Italian food. Almost all of us got specials - they had a chicken parm with vodka sauce and hot honey that slapped (pictured). Friendly and helpful service.

Our 2nd time to Breakin Bread and all I can say is beyond delicious. Everything on the menu is out of this world. Chef Nicole out does herself. The staff took care of our every need. We rate it an A+++

Hidden gem in Seaside! Superb service, everyone was attentive, friendly and inviting. The menu may appear small at first, but wait until you wear all the specials. We sat on the back patio which was beautiful, barely noticed you're in the heart of Seaside. There are heaters for the cooler nights. Complementary charcuterie is provided when you're seated. Prices reflect the quality of the food. The sausage meatball was incredible. It is BYO as well.

I was asking around for a place to go for our anniversary dinner this year somewhere I never been. Then I got Referred by a colleague at work this place did not disappoint one bit!! Phenomenal service! A++ tasteful food and our waitress Alexa I believe her name was on point!!

When our party arrived, we were greeted by the owner, Peter. He introduced us to our waitress, Toni, who served us water and opened our wine bottles. Waiting on the table for us were cheese, olives, and seasoned olive oil with bread. Everyone had different appetizers from clams to stuffed zucchini flowers. We each had a different main course. I had soft shell crabs, so good. Our stomachs were so full we had a hard time with desert. We will be back.

A Must Try!! Food was absolutely amazing. Old school italian feel, music playing, people “breakin bread” enjoying themselves inside and outside. Place was packed after Labor Day.. That’s a great sign!! Must try the dry aged strip steak with side of lump crab!! Wow!! Pete and Nicole are amazing owners and nobody does it better.. Cheers..

So I took My wife and baby son to breaking bread on the recommendation of a friend of ours , I was greeted in the most respectful, classy , old school way by Pete , what a gentleman, and soon after I was greeted by numerous wonderful employees that treated us like family , the atmosphere and restaurant was top notch , like an Italian restaurant on mulberry street in Manhattan, clean , beautiful, air conditioned, when the food came it was unbelievable ! Sauce and seafood like I never expected (and I grew up in an Italian pizzeria/restaurant) , every dish was beyond delicious, take my word for it , if you can get a table you will want to come back every time , And in closing I would like to thank the entire staff , and especially Pete the owner , thank you for giving me and my family a beautiful memory , I will see you again . Have to say this is the best Italian food I have had I a long time. We decided to order a bunch of entrees and share so we could taste a bunch of the entrees. The gnocchi , Lasagna Roll and meatballs were amazing. Going back to the Jersey shore in a few weeks and will definitely return. The service was fantastic and I enjoyed talking to Pete the owner. If they have the escarole sausage and bean soup GET IT.

Went to the new "sandwich shop" in Seaside Heights, pleasantly surprised by the fine dining experience. The owner greets all guests and personally presents appetizer and entree specials. I had one of the specials which was a filet mignon, butterflyed and pounded out, lightly breaded and pan fried in lightly seasoned bread crumbs(?), served beneath an arugula salad with just a hint of balsamic vinagrette dressing. Never touched my knife, the owner's description that the filet can be cut with a fork was spot on. A bit pricey for those who care but totally delivered on value, the only measure that matters. Server was pleasant and attentive, not overbearing at all. Just a delight. Reservation is recommended.

All I have to say is wow! First I want to say you just feel at home when you are here, everyone is so personable and warm. The food was fantastic and fresh, you can tell everything is made with love. I cannot express how good this restaurant is and from the words of my son “I never want to leave here and this is the best day ever.”

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5 stars for Breakin Bread Tonight my mom and I decided to try Breakin Bread in Seaside and it did not disappoint! The food was absolutely delicious!!! We started with an appetizer special of zucchini flowers and Italian sushi, and then had to try meatballs. Everything was beyond tasty. This is delicious, authentic Italian food. You can tell it comes from fresh ingredients. When you go, you must, I mean MUST save room for the lemon ricotta cake. I heard it was good but didn’t think I’d love it. Well, we both agree it was one of the best desserts we ever had!!! So light and soooo good!!! While the food hit the spot, what really sets this establishment apart from anyone else is the service. The owners were so so kind. We chatted with them and felt like they were friends who invited us over for dinner. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive. We couldn’t have asked for more.

Visited this restaurant tonight for the first time. Everything was first class. Ordered a pasta special for our appetizer and I found myself cleaning the plate with the Italian bread. Ordered the pork chops with mushrooms, cherry peppers and potato’s and the dish had amazing flavor. Pete the owner could not have been more hospitable. Laura our waitress was beyond friendly and very attentive. I highly recommend this restaurant.

After having sandwiches at the Fischer Blvd location we took the next step went to the restaurant. As expected you can smell the food from the curb. The quality, presentation and flavor of the food was outstanding. The service was great and our server Robyn was excellent. It is a small restaurant that gives you feel of being over the house for dinner. Nicole visited the table and overall it was an excellent experience. Highly recommend the clams oreganato, fried meatball, gnocchi and veal chop although everything was excellent. Make reservations it will not disappoint.

An outstanding dining experience from start to finish. The eggplant francese was incredible, the zucchini flowers were delicate and delicious, the OMG was packed with flavor, the gnocchi was perfection, and the homemade pistachio cake was the perfect finale. Thank you, Peter and Nicole, for your wonderful hospitality!

Decided to try a new place as I had heard great things about this restaurant. All true! The menu was nice, with an array of wonderful specials to choose from. Our group all enjoyed their food and the service was phenomenal! Will definitely return!

I can’t believe this place only has a 4.3. It’s BYOB (you’ve won me there already). Not a huge menu but everything is so damn good and that’s what makes every dish really good! Best spicy pasta I’ve ever had. Big portions! Pistachio cake is amazing!! Owners are the nicest. I truly believe there’s a difference when the owners are present. I never write reviews, but you guys need to open a place in north jersey 😃

The food and service (from our waitress Sydney) at Breakin' Bread on the Boulevard was very good. Their specials are divine and they had several items on the menu that I'd never had before. Everything we ate was fantastic and our food was well spaced out so that even though we ordered our apps and entrees at the same time, we had a bit of time to digest the appetizers before the entrees arrived. It was cooler outside than it was inside on a steamy summer evening, so you may want to consider that when making a reservation. The ding on the atmosphere has to do with the fact that the backyard area is much nicer when you are facing one direction than the other, and other servers and bus boys kept walking between my chair and my neighbor's chair instead of going around, and bumping me in the process. After the fifth or sixth time this happened, we shifted our entire table down. I also thought the music was working against the atmosphere out back, taking a bit of the romance out of the evening. Overall though, it was a great experience, due in large part to Sydney's service. I would definitely return and encourage others to give it a try.

Breakin Bread on the Boulevard never disappoints. We have eaten here numerous times and have consistently had excellent meals. Best stuffed artichoke that I have ever had. An abundance of specials are offered nightly with one being better than the next. It is a small and welcoming restaurant with a staff who is friendly and so pleasant. Our favorite Alexis goes above and beyond! I highly recommend. You will not be disappointed

Amazing place. We had reservations for 4:30 PM and arrived 10 minutes early, so we waited outside until they were open. They had someone come outside to greet us almost immediately and asked if we had a reservation, and then seated us a few minutes before our reserved time, which was very nice of them to do! The atmosphere was great. We sat outside and it was very cozy. Our waitress was very nice. They had a TON of specials going on that I think it was longer than the menu itself. Everything we ordered was superb. The meatballs, cobb salad w/ homemade blue cheese dressing, fried burrata (the bechamel sauce was so good we got more bread to eat more of it), and all of our entrees. It is expensive, but well worth it. Would definitely recommend and will visit again. Some of the best food I've ever had.

We made reservations here for our group dinner. We had a lovely table under a canopy in the courtyard. Pete came out to tell us about the specials that were available. Our server was quite attentive and accommodating. At one point the chef came out to our table to let us know that they did indeed have the scallops that two of our party had ordered. What wonderful service we were provided. All the appetizers and entrees we ordered were delicious.

First time and it won’t be our last! What a hidden gem. The food was fabulous and they just decorated for the holidays and it was so festive. Service was perfect and the owner/chef, Nicole, was so sweet.

We have been going to Breaking Bread for the last 3 years. We go 2-3 times a summer. The food is just the best. We always laugh because they usually have more specials than items on the menu. Their salad is the best full of pepperoni, salami, olives etc. I had a filet special that was served 3 different ways. Just the absolute best. So if you are in the area BB is a must. Service can’t be beat. Highly recommended. During the season make a reservation

Chose the specials for appetizers and main entree. Everything was excellent and the service staff was exceptional. Definitely a do over.

Absolutely fantastic old school vibe with today's flair. Food is unbelievable. Its a shore town crowded and festive. Some of reviews here which are not 5 star are from Karen's and Chad's that should stay home. This a small family business with whole family breaking their butts in addition to the bread. We should appreciate this establishment as it's not part of a conglomerate hospitality group. They are warm inviting and hospitable. Eggplant dish halibut zucchini flowers new Zealand mussels all amazing and culinary. Ice box cake made way my grandma made! Place is a must!

Visiting from New York and stumbled on what’s now our go-to spot on the Jersey Shore. BYOB, incredible Italian, and seafood so fresh it feels like the ocean’s right outside the kitchen. The outside patio is beautiful, with a great vibe that makes you want to linger a little longer. Derek was a rockstar, somehow everywhere at once, always catching when we needed something, and keeping the whole evening smooth and relaxed. When he went over the specials, he answered every question in detail and knew the menu well. Already planning our next trip back. Truly a hidden gem.

Ambiance was cozy. BYOB.Food was FANTASTIC!!! Appetizers, main courses and desert ..... tons of specials. I have never seen a meal as large as the strip steak special, with lobster, broccoli rabe, shrmp and potatoes ... insane!!! Service was excellent and attentive. Most important for a summer weekend was that we were seated at the time of our reservation. Kudos to a well run operation and an enjoyable meal with friends.

The food and service were great. Cannot wait to go back. We reserved a table for 6 and were seated on the patio in the back. We were able to carry on a conversation and be heard. All the tables were taken but it was still a comfortable dining experience. Highly recommend.

I have been trying to get a reservation for months. Finally got here. Good is absolutely made with love... The Italian meal that makes you feel like home, just played more elegantly. Cozy atmosphere. Friendly staff. BYOB is a plus. Would highly recommend.

We had an absolutely delicious meal last night eating outside at one of the front outdoor tables. Our appetizers were excellent. We got the zucchini flowers and artichoke franchise. Flavor and presentation were amazing. For dinner I got the gnocchi which I cleaned my plate and my husband had the veal dish w/ the onions, mushrooms, and peppers. It was enormous and he said it was delicious. For dessert the pistachio cake was heavenly. Service and food were on point and we will definitely be back!

Overall we definitely recommend and will be eating here again. Yesterday was our first meal at Breakin Bread. It is BYOB and they have indoor/ outdoor seating, plus they take reservations. The staff was very friendly and overall jubilant- you could tell they were excited and passionate about the food and restaurant. Very clean. Nice simple menu. Service was fast and efficient. Dinners came with a side of pasta. Dessert was good (a little on the expensive side. Only criticism was that my mom ordered the veal special and it was +$60 so I would definitely recommend asking for pricing on specials (our fault- not theirs! was just surprised when we got the bill). Great addition to the jersey shore and will definitely be back!

Went here with my wife for dinner. I had the Pork Chop with hot peppers, and she had the gnocchi. Both were very good. Note: Pork chop was smothered with the hot peppers, and THEY WERE HOT. So them accordingly. Apps were meatballs and eggplant rollatini. Both were also very good and large portions. Our waitress Alexis was awesome. She was super fun and attentive. Like a mini Fran Drescher, but in a good way! My only complaint is that the space is very small, and you are a bit crammed in. But the food was worth it, so be sure to reserve ahead of time.

great food, great staff, the only flaw to this place is simply the atmosphere & size. i wouldn’t advise eating here if you are claustrophobic or get overstimulated easily. it is a very small space with barely any walking room. also, as a couple in our mid 20s, we felt very out of place eating here compared to the rest of the patrons (seemingly wealthy middle aged folk) we definitely stood out like a sore thumb. if you are a chatty well-off middle aged person who enjoys wine and excellent italian food with friendly wait staff, this is your place to go!

Shrimp fradivlo reminds me of sheepshead bay ,love the ice box and the pistachio cake. BYOB,300$ for four people .

We were super excited to have dinner here since we'd heard a lot of buzz about the food. The staff were very nice and attentive. However, the food wasn't what we hoped for. The appetizers were delicious! Unfortunately with dinner, the sauce with our pasta separated which wasn't appetizing! The pasta portions were also surprisingly small. It may have been an anomaly but that was our experience. The special meal portion was a good size. The dessert is just average- I would pass on that. Again, the appetizers were great so I am hopeful the sauce issue was just that evening's batch. It's an expensive meal to have the entrees be so poor.

Michael

I feel rather ambivalent after coming here. The food's quality and taste itself was exceptional. Very well prepared and dressed. The prices to portion ratio was absolutely outrageous. Paying close to $40 for a gnocchi dish and appetizers in the mid 20s was way over priced. The portions sizes were exceptionally small. Large plate, thimble amount of food. I can't look past that when it comes to going to restaurants on a regular basis. All in all I'm glad I went and keep the prices and portion sizes in mind.

A

Let me say the food itself was remarkable and the service was OK. Nothing wrong with the waitress but the ran out if the figs appetizer but not insurmountable. I had the veal chop parmesean and it was excellent and I didn't even finish. We ordered the ice box cake for desert and after a few moments another girl (not our waitress) came to tell us they were out...most upsetting as some of us didn't even get a chance to order a substitute. All in all it was a nice place, very crowded and while I wasn't completely satisfied, I might give it another try

D
Dawn Grosh

I wanted to love the food but it was very disappointing. For the prices the food should have been 5 star and it wasn't close. The flounder oreganata was more bread crumbs than fish. The chicken milanase was unimpressive. The bolognaise was barely average. The other 3 entrees our party ordered were overpriced considering the taste was just ok. On the plus side, the service was very good. And the complimentary charcuterie appetizer was tasty. I'm sorry, but we will not be going back.

R
Raffaela Russo

We recently were able to get a reservation after numerous attempts. We found the restaurant to be quite noisy with many loud patrons. The appetizer and dessert were great. The entrees left much to be desired. The staff was great, however the owner never came by our table to chat or check on us after visiting EVERY OTHER TABLE!. Unprofessional! Was it because we were not regulars? I guess we will never achieve that status since we are not going back.

D
Dan Sullivan

Fabulous food ruined by rude management. We were extremely rushed and when we told our server she was very kind and had the “owner” come over. The “owner”’s response was “you have to be out of here and we can’t have people just sitting around and drinking wine.” This was after 60 minutes. She then stated “You have 15 more minutes. If you want dessert after that you can be outside.” If you’re going to serve gourmet food and expect prices to reflect it, your customer service should as well. What we experienced from this woman was a disgrace.

D
Donna Fox Manginelli

This restaurant is on open table, to modify or cancel your reservation you cannot do it on app. You have to call the restaurant. I called 6 times in 2 days and the phone just rings. Could not leave a message Then the restaurants charges a no show fee. Be warned about this unethical business practice.

A
Antonio Calamari

Lady who runs the show gave me the agita. I came all the way from Palermo to visit the “Jersey Shore”. I just wanted a nice sandwich on Semolina like back home. A little roasted garlic, some glaze of the balsamic, a pinch of the arugula for a peppery finish. I’m calling Air Italia in the morning and flying home.
