We went for dinner as a group. It's been a while since I've tried their pork shank, and it remains the best pork shank in Milan and the surrounding area, in my opinion. The sausages are also excellent, and the beers are superb, with a wide selection. To finish off, I recommend the apple fritters and Williams grappa! Prices are average. The only drawback... the wait is a bit long. I recommend going there if you want to eat a fantastic pork shank with potatoes and enjoy a good drink! You won't find any Bavarian restaurants like this in Milan. Well done, I'll be back as soon as I can.
Gotta try the stinco!
Bellisimo
Nice place, nice people, good bavarian food and genuine beer. Fantastic meats, very special desserts, but also canederli where particulary good. Very high quality/price ratio. Defintely a place to go, especially in fall and winter.
A truly well-decorated and well-maintained Bavarian-themed venue. The welcome and slow service detract from a venue with great potential. The food and beer are very good; I always come back.
A typical Bavarian restaurant, but also serving Tyrolean dishes. The food is truly delicious! Perhaps the portions could be a little larger (we thought the pretzels were much larger). The goulash is excellent. The place is truly traditional. It's a shame it was a bit chilly that evening. We'll gladly return!
Sunday lunch with a couple of friends. We're greeted by a rather nervous gentleman who leads us upstairs. When we order, the very friendly girl tells us that the shanks are being cooked and that we might be able to eat them later. Then I ask the gentleman from before to confirm, and a rude discussion ensues, saying I should have ordered the shanks! (And I'll stop there). Beer arrives (a 1-liter was a bit short), and the food is good, including two excellent, well-cooked shanks. Good value for money. The overall organization definitely needs rethinking. The staff used to dress in traditional attire, but not anymore. A shame. Eventually, however, the gentleman comes to his senses and becomes kind. All in all, a nice Sunday lunch.
I love Stinco and great beer!
Brilliant
A truly authentic place, you'll feel immersed in early 1900s Bavaria. It's divided into three areas: the ground floor, the upper floor, and a half-covered veranda. I've been frequenting this place for several months now, and everything is delicious, from the beers to the food. The selection may not be extensive, but as they say, "few but good." I highly recommend booking, especially if you go late (after 10 pm).
Good for a beer with friends and for an unusual dinner :)
Three stars for the average between the good food (the pork shank was truly excellent, as were the cured meats) and the service. And in fact, besides the unfriendly waiter, I find it incredible that in a Bavarian-inspired beer hall the only pretzels are the ones pictured on the placemat. By 9 pm when we ordered, they were already sold out, and we only managed to get two.
Definitely characteristic, but room for improvement. The restaurant is strategically located in a busy and highly trafficked area, although it's not easy to find. Parking is obviously not dedicated; you'll need to search the surrounding area and therefore have a lot of patience. Therefore, I recommend visiting in the evening, to make things easier. The restaurant has several rooms, both on the ground floor and upstairs, in a characteristic Bavarian style, each with its own distinct character, a faithful reconstruction of a traditional Stube. There are even themed rooms that highlight a particular theme. The decor is simple but pleasant, with tables of all sizes capable of accommodating single couples or groups of young people. The lack of secluded or separate spaces makes the atmosphere quite chaotic. The clientele is very informal and diverse, primarily chosen by groups of young people and those looking for affordable food, given the nature of the cuisine offered. The welcome is warm, led by very friendly, albeit young, staff who are attentive to the needs of their customers. The only sore point was at the cash register, where I encountered a somewhat gruff man, who clashed greatly with the welcome offered; his manners were an area for improvement. The menu, unfortunately, is only on paper, but is fairly well-organized. The dishes are obviously in perfect Bavarian style, offering many interesting options. I must unfortunately admit that some of the cuisine is subpar, not in terms of taste, but in terms of faithful reproduction, with a lack of respect for traditional flavors. In short, it's somewhat Italianized. The dishes, due to the nature of the restaurant itself, are not carefully crafted, from starter to dessert. It's a series of dishes plated haphazardly, yet tasteful and maintain their temperature. Personally, however, I think you can't overturn a cuisine like this just to adapt it to a country; I would have personally appreciated the tradition offered. As for the portions, in terms of quality/price ratio, I think they could use some rethinking. For example, before eating, they offer pretzels, a type of bread very popular among people of Teutonic origin, but not very close to German tradition in terms of substance and taste. The raw ingredients are of average quality, cooked with respect and without distorting them. There is a certain attention to originality, but this too does not reflect the cuisine offered. However, there is a certain philosophy that combines customs, beer, ambiance, and cuisine. The beer selection is wide, with very pleasant options, offered at the right price and served in classic glasses by girls dressed in Bavarian style. The overall cleanliness of the place is excellent; it is a bit chaotic, noisy, but welcoming. The price, given the nature of the cuisine and the quantity served, is in my opinion a bit high compared to the average for places of this type. My rating is 3/5, as the cuisine and, above all, the friendly service at the end of the checkout process are the best. Obviously, in my humble opinion, it's a place worth visiting, but don't expect anything other than a themed restaurant, neither praise nor infamy. My advice is to revisit the traditional cuisine offered, bringing it closer to Bavarian tradition, moving away from what it is today. I used to come to bier Himmel very often, almost every week, when I was in my teenage and in my early 20s. It’s been few years I wasn’t coming since I moved country. That’s to say I know it very well. I have to say the place has really changed a lot. It’s not so busy as it’s used to be and the service has slowed down a lot. The restaurant is almost empty and it doesn’t have the same vibes and the feeling of being in Tirol anymore. In this last visit I went with my friend and ordered a Foresta nera antipasto , two pasta dishes and two beer and it took 40 minutes to be served in an empty restaurant. We then ordered 2 chips and it took 20 minutes. I left very disappointed
After a while, the pretzels arrived, and we stared at them for a long time before anything to drink arrived. The Nuremberg sausages were impressive: cold, tough, and accompanied by a few undercooked potatoes and a handful of sauerkraut. The vegetarian dishes were sad. The beer was good, but a large finger was below the level indicated on the glass. We asked for a second beer, provided it was served in the right amount. The bread was just four measly slices of different types. It's a shame; I had high expectations and was positively exposed to my friends. Maybe it was just a bad night, and you certainly can't base a judgment on a single incident, but I don't think I'll be back.
With friends for a late-night beer and snack. Nice place, good sandwiches and fries, and friendly wait staff. All of this was ruined by the arrogance and rudeness of the cashier. We won't be back.
I was at this restaurant last night around 11:00 PM. Unfortunately, I can't judge the quality of the food or drinks, but I feel compelled to comment on the welcome, which was totally inadequate. I understand that we arrived late, but to a polite question, I would have expected an equally civil response. Instead, the attitude was rude and disrespectful. Anyone who chooses to work with the public should know that courtesy is the foundation of everything, regardless of the time. It's a real shame, because with this kind of approach, you risk turning customers away before they've even been seated.
