Good brunch, good bloody Mary's.. highly recommend to anyone that wants a good brunch.
Excellent food!!! My Hanger Steak was sooo delicious, other level.
Scion is awesome! It's a great happy hour spot with amazing food. The bartenders are not basic at all they know their craft and help find the right drink for you so don't be too shy to ask. Alex and Matt.... hats off to you!
I come here whenever I can. Great food and great drinks. Fried pickle appetizer is amazing! Great menu and atmosphere on New Year's eve as well. Parking is rough but just park in the adjacent Giant parking lot.
Great food, incredible service. Prices are really reasonable, and the happy hour is solid. A bit small inside, but it never seemed cramped or packed. I'm glad this place has come to The Spring!
This restaurant has the best beer bartender in the Wasgington, DC area with Matt. Extremely knowledgeable regarding craft beers. The sliders and fried pickles are great too. Recommended for happy hour.
Cozy neighborhood bar/restaurant just a block or two from the Silver Spring metro. The duck ravioli was amazing! The menu has items you'd expect to see in a bigger fine dining establishment, so it was a pleasant surprise. The bar tender will make you feel right at home the minute you walk thru the door. Scion is a nice place to go for a causal night out with freinds... Oh, and they welcome dogs out on the patio. They even have water bowls for the little pups. Love It!
This place is amazing. As a foodie, I take flavor very seriously and Scion certainly didnt disappoint. I had the sliders as an appitizer (the pulled pork was my fav), salmon for my entree, and apple crisp a la mode for desert, and the flavors were nothing short of amazing. Rarely do I eat dessert, but I'm glad i decided to indulge. THE APPLE CRISP IS THE BEST I'VE EVER HAD. I will certainly be coming back.
Sweet Potato Nachos, made with waffle fries, was out of this world! Delicious pulled duck, Hangar steak was perfectly cooked!! Lava cake outstanding! Many gluten free choices!!
Tasty food, great staff. Must try: the fried pickles (my mom claimed she doesn’t like fried pickles and then ate most of the order we were supposed to share), Bayou Benedict, the duck succotash.
I live right next to this place and go there a lot. It has a great menu with some very original items. The brunch is to die for. The bartenders are pretty cool too.
Came for bruch. Staff was super attentive and accommodating of a late arrival in our party. The chips are excellent as was all the food we had. Everything was great.
The spinach crab dip is to die for (recommend ordering extra pita when ordering), one of the best burgers around and an extensive beer selection. Highly recommended if in the area.
Went for happy hour for my first time and was not disappointed. Very cozy, friendly feeling. Matt, our bartender was extremely knowledgeable about the entire menu and all the beers on tap. He was also great at keeping my friend's baby laughing! The food was delicious. We had the fried pickles, surf and turf sliders and chicken bao. Great food, good beer selection, nice and relaxing atmosphere... if I didn't live in Baltimore I would definitely make it more of a regular place to visit. Oh, prices were more than worthwhile too!
Stopped in on whim for brunch and had a great time. The beer selection was fantastic and the bloody Mary was awesome. The food (fried pickles! A riff on eggs Benedict with smoked duck!) was fun and tasty. Add to that a super friendly staff and we'll be making this a regular spot
This place is amazing. I've come here multiple times and the burgers and other options are great. The beer selection is very good and they have a decent selection on wine. Inside of the building is very clean and has a very authentic feel. If you're in the area this restaurant is well with taking the opportunity to try the food. It won't disappoint!
Good food, wonderful staff. Beers are expensive, but HH has all draft at 1/2 price so decent deal there. Some outdoor seating. Half price burgers all day Tuesday are excellent, not big but very tasty! And great fries!
Fantastic for brunch with a large group! Great location right near Metro, lots of menu options even for vegetarian and gluten free folks ands everything looked delicious. More servers would have been better able to keep up with us, but it all worked out. My favorite drink was the Poinsettia, a mimosa with cranberry juice instead of orange.
Amazingly tasty food in combinations I wouldn't have thought of, though the price is a little higher than other restaurants in the area. Good beer and wine selection. Has a nice bar area for happy hour and a nice dine-in area for dinner. Nice staff who are knowledgeable about the menu.
I answer all my friends had a New Year's Eve dinner at Scion and really enjoyed it. I had the Scion burger with bacon and egg and it was delicious. Several of my friends tried other items such as the pesto pasta and several of the appetizers and everyone seems generally pleased with their meal. Is a bit of an upscale place, so you're going to pay prices accordingly. But overall it was worth it. Certainly recommended for other people in the Silver Spring area.
Good service and nice food. I loved those pickles!
Food was great with vegan and gluten free options. My wife loved her Duck ravioli, which were handmade. Space/menu could use a refresh to match excellent food and beer. Service was good.
I went for brunch on a Sunday afternoon and was pleasantly surprised. There's an excellent selection of food and the mamosa are lovely. The food and staff is undoubtedly a #5. The one downfall, which isn't horrible, is that street parking isn't very convenient so you have to park in the garage. It's free on weekends but weekdays it's not.
Solid brunch spot - healthy options like salad and eggs and tasty mimosas. No kids menu but the gang ate waffles. Plus, they did a drag brunch that was SO fun - great performances by the ladies!
The food is good but sometimes service is a little slow. They seasonally change their menu so the online one is not always up to date. Great varied food selection, great for dining in or carry out.
It feels a little... Trendy... But they try hard for the food, and that's what counts in the end. The crab reuben was dissapointing, but the sweet potato nachos were excellent (add the duck). This place is probably mobbed after 5pm,but for our late lunch no problem.
Good food, I love their fries. Parking is difficult. There is a public parking garage nearby, but it's easy to miss. They also have a good selection of beer.
This place is a neighbourhood gem! Bring a friend... or three. It’s a nice-enough looking place, minimally decorated in dark wood and darker orange hues, but the real draws are: 1) the BEER menu that (although not massive) has a great variety of selections, nicely labelled by taste category, from local drafts and bottles (DC Brau, etc.), to Belgian imports, to seasonal brews. 2) tasty menu that reflects the diversity of the family that owns/runs this restaurant group (ref. my review about next-door's NaiNai's), including italian/asian/latin-fusion dishes like their Risotto with fried egg (like an Italian version of a Korean bibimbap). 3) the friendly and professional service, the ones who remember your name and face, a la "Cheers" bar! Only two caveats: 1) this place, because popular, and because open-style bar, can get noisy at times; and, 2) not enough bar TVs to show EPL or Euro League football matches while also showing NBA/NFL/MLB/NHA games. See you there..!
Good food and decent prices. Thankful this is in Silver Spring. We've enjoyed dinner here on several occasions. I enjoy the Salmon. Good cocktails as well.
Beer Menu: Study before :) They have huge selections, not all on the menu. So, ask (if you study). And, well be ready for hangover. Food: I cannot really comment since I am always asking for battered shrimp. Times: Officially they are open until 10 or so in reality it's more like last customer. Wishes: They would be open until 2 AM on Friday nights Alternatives: It's too noisy or not so private – try ICCO sushi across the street
So far I have only visited this place on half price burger night (Tuesday), but the results have been amazing. Perfectly cooked burger, brioche bun, SO GOOD. Craft beer selection is good, although they were out of a few things when we were there. I added a fried egg to the burger. Perfection. Sorry I didn't take a picture.... Couldn't wait.
Went for Sunday brunch. Very nice staff. I believe the owners Sat's and made sure we were taken care of. They also went to all the other tables to make sure everyone was enjoying themselves. Food was great! I had hangar steak and eggs, my wife had the huevos rancheros and my daughter had a breakfast sandwich. Well seasoned and great flavor. Good atmosphere and clean facility. Enjoyed it and would recommend to anyone looking for a great Sunday Brunch
Good service, nice ambiance... But the portion sizes and value are abysmal. I'm a pretty small person, but I could easily see having to spend $50+ just to get full, which isn't reasonable for this area of Silver Spring. Pros: Great environment, good service, good location, tasty food (lobster mac & cheese, fried pickles). Cons: Tiny portions (half-meals) and high prices (almost everything over $20), for food of only middling quality. If the food was excellent, OR the portions were bigger, OR the price was equivalent to the value (~$10, maybe), it would be more worthwhile to eat here.
Scion is excellent for dinner, happy hour, and brunch. They have an interesting menu, and an awesome beer list. Their happy hour deals are great for an inexpensive but still quality beer after work. If you go for brunch you have to get the breakfast nachos!
Restaurant is excellent. The parking situation here I think is the only negative. If you come here for happy hour it'll be a little difficult to find parking. The food was great. I recommend trying the fried pickles, it's one of my favorite menu items. Servers were great and helpful with the menu items as far as what was good and what is recommended that day. All in all I had a great experience here and look forward to coming back for more.
Scion is a great place to go that is right between upscale and casual. It has a nice bar with enough seats for there to usually be some open spots, but plenty of table seating as well. The beer selection is on point, and their menu is very impressive. Tuesday nights is half priced burgers, and their house burger is unique and satisfying (smoked mozzarella, fried pickles).
The food was a weak American-korean fusion, the staff was very pleasant.
They have really scaled back their food and drinks. They used to have a nice cocktail list that had been whittled down to just a 4 and they were just ok. Still have a good beer selection. The food selection is ok but again compared to their previous menu it was a bit of a let down.
Good food, but service wasn't great. Had dinner here with a group of friends and while the food was decent (over priced for what you get though) , the service was pretty lacking. Glad we tried it, but not high on the list of places we'll go back to.
The best avocado toast, mac n cheese and mimosas! But I was not treated nice by the waiter. He's Hispanic, I believe his name is Jose, I'm black but I speak Spanish, I spoke to him several times, but he kept "ignoring me" and responding in English. I understand is not the usual, but was it necessary? Did he go into shock? I'll go back to the restaurant regardless, but felt I was not valued as a client
The food here has always been great. But we were wondering what happened to this place. We've been here several times over the past 5 years but last night it was pretty dead. And silent. Food was still on point and the service was fine but sheesh, where did the crowd go?
Went here for my cousin's birthday dinner. The food was good, but I already don't remember what I got. The service was good. There is also a location in DC, but this is in a part of Silver Spring that is definitely developing nicely. Plentiful parking nearby. They were very accommodating about some kind of birthday treat for my cousin. All in all, a good restaurant, but not particularly memorable.
Food on the wall. Crammed in a corner when there was almost no one there. Did get asked if we wanted drinks or offered water for almost 15 minutes after sitting down. Oh, then both of our orders were wrong. Yay. Two young women that were eating nearby were likewise disappointed.
The waiters are so lazy and they don't care about the customers. They focus on their regular customers. The good thing here is Most of the foods are good and have average price.
The restaurant is located in a convenient location, and the staff are nice. However the food is probably the worst thing I ever tasted. I ordered a crab sandwich. They put loose crabmeat with no seasoning and (it was not even formed to a crab cake) on sourdough bread and served it. It tasted horrible. The sweet potato nachos was served with stale pinto digayo and green mayonnaise squirted out of a bottle. I will never go back .
I've eaten here before and the food was great and I really enjoyed the music selection. However yesterday I ate here and the experience wasn't so great. I ordered a black bean burger and I'm 99% positive the beans were undercooked thus I have been suffering from stomach pains and nausea all day to the point it's effecting my work. I didn't eat anything else yesterday so I know Scion is the culprit. Eat here if you wish but avoid the black bean burger! Update I went to a doctor he said I had food poisoning. I won't be eating here again.
Extremely slow service even thought the place wasn't full. Didn't even get our first drink until we had been in there about half an hour. They got my order wrong - including forgetting items for which I was still upcharged. But I never got the chance to tell them because no one ever came by to check on us once the food was out. Nothing exceptional about this place.
Didn't want to seat us at an open table because it seated six and we only had three people. No wait. No customers. Said he would have to move us if customers start coming in. We kindly walked out to never return Who moves paying customers after they have ordered. My work area is near by. Will not recommend
So I must have called these people at least a dozen times to know if they were open on a holiday weekend because I was having a brunch party. No one picked up. I ended up calling the location in DC and the guy I spoke with assured me they were. I turn up on said day and the restaurant was closed. Had to move everyone to a different location.
Service sucked. Asked for some specific things for my meal waitress did nothing correct. I would never go back.. Seat was dirty. Glasses smelled bad wanted to puke while drinkong water. Burger was OK.. But would never go back
