Love this place, my family and I have been enjoying dinner here for the past 8 years. Super friendly and awesome service. Family owned and operated. Always clean. Great food. Lydia is so sweet, she recognizes us when we wall in, gets our drinks ready before we even sit down. And remembers our order. Oh and they have the best oranges.

I have start off by saying that the 5 Stars are well deserved, but beyond that they are deserving of even more. The robot is a big plus for me. It's name is Fam, and it delivered our drinks. There are little details everywhere that make it stand out. The amount of sauces to dress your food both before, and after are incredible. The meat options have shrimp and lamb and squid along with the regular beef, chicken, and pork. Lots of vegetable options too, and the tiki theme walls look super cool. Plus they have alot of seating, easily could bring a group of 10 or more here and have a great time, just as easily as a group of 2 or lunch by yourself. And the AYCE is currently $20 a person as of Sep. 2024. Definitely give this place a try. Meet Fam, tip the staff, watch them "Mongolian BBQ" your food up for you.

I LOVE this place. Follow the suggestions and amounts listed on the wall, and your food will be AMAZING! I love the family who owns it; they are very sweet. I suggest making a late lunch or early dinner by coming at 3:30 or 4:00, to beat the rush, and still get all you can eat. The only drawback is they should have cafeteria-style trays, so the food placed in the bowls doesn't fall into the food bar and floor on the way to the cooking area counter ledge. People spill tremendous amounts of food on the way to the cooking station. It's not only a huge waste of food and money, but a major slipping hazard, so watch where you step!

We drive 30 minutes to come to this restaurant. They have a good variety of meat and seafood. The restaurant is clean, price for dinner are still lower than other all you can eat places.

Very delicious. Best Mongolian BBQ I've been to. (In the United States) It's definitely worth the money. I strategically pack down the meat (because it shrinks when it's cooking) before filling up the rest with noodles

I eat a lot of food, and it was glorious as I'm definitely coming back with more people now that I've found this spot. Open and spacious, food is cooked throughly, and service was fast on my refills!

I came here in the midafternoon. It was completely empty. The server, was helpful. I chose, instead of getting the all you can eat option, I ordered ala cart. I got the chicken with mixed veggies, fried rice, hot and sour soup and an iced tea. The soup came out first. It was really, really good hot and sour. The flavors were balanced and you could tell that someone put care into the preparation. Note that they only serve a two-person portion, so I had to take some home. The the fried rice and the chicken/veggies came. Also really tasty. The chicken was cooked perfectly. I appreciate small, family run places. The entire meal just hit the spot. I'll definitely be back.

If you want one of the best Mongolian bbq in Simi Valley, this is your spot. You can dine in or take your food to go. I did both. They have a good variety of dishes on their menu. They also have a Mongolian bbq bar where you can choose your own ingredients and have the chef cook it for you. The staff are very nice and so are the chefs. It’s a fun experience watching them cook. I got the take away with fried rice, noodles, beef broccoli and orange chicken. It was well seasoned and delicious. Parking is abundant here so no issues with that. It’s good for a large party as you can see from my pictures, it’s very spacious. Great place to grab lunch or dinner. I recommend.

They offer a wide variety of meats, vegetables, sauces, plus noodles and a choice of sesame or bbq oils, plus tofu and peanuts, to choose your barbecue meal mix. We visited as a family and each of us had a different selection. Shrimp is available on weekends. The lunch includes a small egg-drop soup. If you’re a vegetarian you can put together a pure veggie bowl. Drinks are available for purchase. Robot FAM will bring over the water and any drinks you order besides the “pick your own.” Your bowl will be cooked on the grill in front of you while you wait. They bring the soup and the water to your table. Beyond that the service is minimal. The bowls are of a moderate size, thus the portions are as much as you can fill in the bowl. They also have “all you can eat” for those with larger appetites. For my family a bowl each has been more than sufficient. If you have anything leftover you box it for home- something you cannot do in an “all you can eat” meal. It’s a friendly and casual family restaurant, and affordable. Great value!

My visit to Family Mongolian BBQ on Tapo St was largely enjoyable. The food truly stands out – the flavors, freshness, and variety offered are hard to beat, especially at the reasonable prices they've set. Whether you're a fan of Mongolian cuisine or just dipping your toes in for the first time, there's something here that's sure to delight your taste buds. However, a couple of things kept the experience from being perfect. The interior felt rather warm, perhaps due to a poor AC unit or lack thereof. On a hot day, this can be a bit uncomfortable. Additionally, while the general ambiance seemed clean enough at first glance, a closer look around revealed some areas that could benefit from a thorough cleaning. All in all, while there's some room for improvement, the delicious food and value for money make it a spot worth visiting. I'd recommend it to friends, but maybe on a cooler day!

The place was slow on a Sunday night and the service was good. It’s not dirty, just a bit rundown. The food seemed fresh and it was cooked well. I wish I would have put more sauces on it because it came out a little bland. Good spot if you’re into it. Not sure it’s worth $19.99 for dinner if you can take advantage of the “all you can eat” aspect.

The price was great the food was very tasty and hot. I also like how they prepare it in front of you on the the skillet. The restaurant itself wasn't as clean as it should have been but the food was really good.

Tasty and reasonable. You put what you want in a bowl and hand it to their chefs and they cook it up for you. Explore their sauces and oils that flavor the meat and veggies, some are better than others; I prefer the garlic and BBQ. A great place to come no matter the size of your party. They have something for every taste range from mild to "wow, that's pretty hot!"

Atmosphere is not great, the Mongolian station had a decent variety, wr go for the fried chicken wings and we typically order off the menu. We will make the drive just for the wings

Update: They raised their prices and removed the extras (flatbread, wontons, fortune cookies). 2 people, without drinks is $50. My daughter and I came here today for lunch. She suggested it when we were trying to decide where to eat. I used to go to a Mongolian BBQ place in Claremont when I was a kid and thought I would give this a try. Overall, the food was pretty good. You get a bowl, choose your meat, add some veggies and other toppings, and choose your sauce. They also have noodles that you can add to your bowl as well. Then they cook it up and add a scoop of rice on the side. The young man that was the waiter was nice. While we picked our food out, he asked for our drink order. After our food was cooked, he had picked a booth for us and our drinks were there waiting for us. They also brought us one mini egg roll each and a cup of egg drop soup. The egg roll was good, very crispy. The soup was okay. It wasn't very hot and a little too gelatinous for my taste, but it was good enough. The restaurant seemed a little rundown and the tables/booths looked like they needed another wipe down. After we sat down, we never saw anyone again until we were ready to leave and pay at the front. Overall, the food tasted great and the topping choices were good. I will definitely be back to lunch here again. It is also good to support our local Simi Valley businesses.

Well the staff was friendly and accommodating. The food is ok. The sauce selection is a little sparse compared the the likes of hot wok Mongolian grill. The price is definitely on point if you want volume and had a few blunts to boot. Game on peeps. Game on.

The food is good but the people who own it or work there have no personalities. They ask what you want to drink, then they never come back. Their children were running around yelling and just out if control. Also the sign says dinner all you can eat is $12.99, we were charged $13.43. If we eat there again, we will get take out.

Poor experience overall. Food was okay at best and service was terrible! Upon walking in, we were asked how many and then just pointed to which side of the restaurant to sit without any further direction or acknowledgement. We went and found a table and sat down but nobody ever came by. After a few minutes of waiting and unsure if we were supposed to wait or start making our food, we got up and asked and a nod was the only response we got. After our group returned to our table there was soup and bread waiting but nobody ever came back to check in on us or take drink orders. The server even walked right by our table about 1/2 way though our meal (after bringing drinks to the table across from us), peeked at our table and then just turned and walked away. Once everyone was done eating and still no acknowledgement, my niece finally got up and asked if we could get some water for our table. Several minutes later, the same server that walked past our table about 30 minutes prior, returned with only one glass of water for a party of six!! Not to mention, that we still had to request water for the remaining guests, which took several more minutes of waiting just to get. It was hot outside, the inside of the restaurant was hot, not a single staff member checked on us (including the server), the food wasn’t very good, and we had to eat our entire meal without anything to drink. Definitely would not recommend this place!
