A buddy of mine and I decided to check this spot out because we were craving Korean barbeque and it was right down the street from us. What a hidden gem! We did the all you can eat lunch special and the food was delicious with large portions. The decor is really nice and you don't feel greasy like most places (must have good ventilation). The ladies who took our order we're super sweet, sometimes going out of their way to assist with the cooking when we were not paying attention to the grill. We will definitely have to come back!
The atmosphere is spacious and clean. The service was really quick and they were flexible with our party of 11. Half of us had AYCE and the other half had a la carte dishes, and they were really accommodating. We had the general AYCE, all the meats and banchan (sides) were fresh & delicious. They did not skimp/cheap out on the meat and gave us huge platters. The beef short rib is thick and delicious. They were helpful when we were ordering as well. The soondobu and udon were good, so they are very well rounded for whatever you order. Definitely recommend!
The service in this place USED to be lack luster. That has completely changed. The staff here are incredibly friendly now, and helpful. We even received a free special without reason. Top chef is easily the best all you can eat BBQ place around. Try their spicy pork or miso pork belly!
We got to try their menu other than Korean BBQ during pandemic. Short rib stew (galbi-jjim), spicy cold noodle, glassy noodles (japchae), and fried dumplings are tasty. Food is authentic and portions are generous. You don't have to travel all the way to Ktown to try authentic Korean food.
I went to eat here with a couple friends the server and the food was great. Good place to talk, take photos and have a good time. Our server Kean was really nice and funny 10/10
This is the best Korean barbecue restaurant in Simi Valley.$33 for basic all you can eat and $45 for premium choice. Among the many meats, beef brisket and short rib was the best. Spicy chicken was so juicy and tender. The best part was that I could taste a lot of meats. And everything was delicious. If you want to taste a lot of meats, you can order a half order. If you haven't visited yet, I highly recommend you to visit.

Delicious, great sides, and amazing staff. All you can eat "bbq it yourself" style. Really fun experience and awesome atmosphere! Super clean and set up well. I reccomend you try everything that sou ds good cause honestly its all great. Bring your friends and family!
Visited Surajang for the first time and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. We ordered bulgogi, beef brisket and beef short rib. All the meets were delicious and perfectly seasoned. The sides and apps were all fantastic especially the Korean pancakes. Service was pretty great. Well attended to and the grill was changed between orders. Everything was very clean. Would definitely recommend and go back again. A surprisingly delightful restaurant in the corner.
Not too sure what Matt was talking about in the review below, this place was awesome, great service, great food, and quite a delightful Korean experience, thanks Surjang Korean BBQ for a great time!
The chef clearly values flavor and creativity. Each dish told its own delicious story.
I think this place used to be called Top Chef. Still the same people. If you want Kbbq style this is the best place around all of Simi and surrounding areas!! Definitely must try!

I had a great experience here…first time. I had the AYCE A ($29.95). So many choices of beef and pork and 4 choices of chicken. Also included are appetizers (anything marked with A), rice, banchan, and salad. I also ordered sesame oil with salt & pepper for seasoning cooked items. Our table ordered: Beef: bulgogi, brisket, belly, jumulreok, top blade Pork: belly Full orders of bulgogi and brisket were massive! After that we ordered 1/2 orders so we could try more. We also had Japchae (clear noodles), radish wraps and Korean pancakes, which all were tasty. Heated up the pancakes because they come cold and cut in pieces. Service was very friendly and not too difficult to get their attention. I like the atmosphere and the place was nice for a rainy day. I would come back.
High quality meats, excellent service, friendly staff. This is a great place for k bbq for lunch or with a group. All you can eat $29.95. All you can eat seafood $39.95 They also offer prepared dishes $15-20. Highly recommend, will be back.
I ordered LA Galbi- Korean bbq- to go. It was delicious and a reasonable price. Unlimited Korean bbq and other k-foods. I didn’t know that the Korean bbq restaurant is in Simi Valley. Not bad compared with the Korea town restaurants.
Usually the people aren't nice at Korean BBQ places (that's been my experience), but they were super nice here!! The food was good quality and tasted delicious. I was very happy with everything we ate! I can't wait to go back!!

Food was good, the service was bad 👎 they charged my husband and I 18% gratuity even though it clearly says on their menu 18% gratuity applied for parties of 6 or more. We spent over $100, and we usually tip, but it's hard to when you have dishonest people.

I came here last night with my family and the service was disappointing. The restaurant was 25% full, yet the staff kept forgetting to bring our plates and meats. Toward the middle of our meal, they stopped checking on us turned our grill off because they saw it was burning then brought us the check. We told them we were still waiting on our last order of meats. When it was time to pay the bill, they charged me $13 over what the initial check said. The voided the initial charge and made it right. Mind you, the service charge was already included for my group of 6. I walked over to them to fix it, and they apologized saying they got my bill mixed up with another table, though nobody else had a party of 6. Support small businesses, just don't get taken advantage of in the process.
Okay, as far as Korean goes locally, this is honestly the last place I would go. Trust me, I have been well traveled and eaten Korean around the world. If you are pressed for Korean and are in Simi There is one other and better choice off Tapo. The people are also friendlier. Its worth your time to check that out. I have come to what is now Surjang three times just in case my prior experiences were a one off.... they are not. (by the way, the name has changed.... again... now its Surjang) Years ago, this location was Oaks Korean BBQ.... Wow have things changed.. Oaks was great. This place, not so much. If you go just solo, they WILL NOT allow you to cook. Actually, they were kind of rude about it too. I think that is because they are offended I did not come with many people, so the bill was not going to be as high as they like. Anyway, for a solo person, your meal is cooked in the back kitchen as a meal you pre-order. Rice, your "ONE" order of meat, Egg cake, Japchae (Clear Noodles that should be hot, but here they served cold) and vegies. One of the primary reasons I go to a Korean BBQ is for the experience of cooking. Even if solo... Nope, not here. The service is slow. All three times I have gone, the seating is in the rear off to the side. The atmosphere is almost like eating the the Kitchen as there are racks and storage that you would see in the kitchen. Stuff was piled up on one booth. Its kind of ugly to be honest. Though it is likely clean, it does not look clean. Not a good Korean Restaurant vibe at all. The food on a scale from 1-10 is a 4 at best. Seriously... not trying to be mean. Just honest. Its almost Okay. Again, I would go to the Korean BBQ on Tapo St or go to Thousand Oaks as There is a Korean BBQ in the Janss Mall. Both options are FAR better options. Sorry for the not so good review Surjang. You need to step it up. You may want to think about allowing your customers to cook at the table even if it is only one person. I would have paid. Shame.
Food is good, service is very poor. The manager is rude, and treats you horrible when attempting any communication. I felt horrible for even trying to order food. If you come here with a child, be very clear at the start how much they will charge, they will say different things than the writing on their own menu or walls.
The food at this Korean BBQ in Simi Valley is actually pretty good. The meats have good flavor, the sides are solid and overall the place has the potential to be one of the better Korean BBQ spots in the Simi Valley area. I came in expecting a great dinner with my family, and from a food standpoint, it started out that way. Unfortunately, the service from one staff member completely ruined the experience. There is an Asian lady who seems to get irritated the moment you ask for anything… Whether it’s more meat, grill change or even a simple question about the menu. Every time you need something, she would run away annd avoid the table or act visibly annoyed. Ordering more meat felt like we were inconveniencing her and she made it clear she didn’t want to change the grill plate or deal with anything that added to her workload. It got to the point where we were trying to avoid asking for anything just so we wouldn’t have to deal with her attitude. That’s not how dinner with your family should go, especially at a place where service is such a big part of the experience. Her behavior took away from an otherwise good meal and left us frustrated instead of enjoying our night. Overall, the food is good, but the service from her overshadowed it all. I hope management addresses it, because no restaurant can survive long if customers feel unwelcome. I wouldn’t recommend coming here unless the service improves. PS - If you do decide to come here… AVOID HER AT ALL COSTS!!
