Clayton place was very good. The food was good the workers are friendly. All my friends love it there. They go there all the time. It is located in the village of spencerport ny. Warm and cozy. Price is reasonable too
I try and eat here at least once every time I'm visiting back home, usually for breakfast, sometimes lunch or dinner. The food is always good, and the staff very friendly and efficient.
One of the best family restaurants in the area. Wide variety on the menu and they have several specials every day. Would recommend this place for any meal. I've never been disappointed.
Clean and neat atmosphere, ask for Doreen or Patti as your waitress. Food is hot, tasty and filling. Small town atmosphere makes you feel like a regular there.
Great food, friendly staff and family atmosphere. Always love coming here!
First time going to this restaurant. Went with a friend for lunch. Very wide selection of sandwiches, salads, etc. My friend had the French dip , I had a chicken cordon bleu sandwich. Both very good. Service was also very good. Would go again.
The food was really good and the service was great! Very clean and I can't wait to go back
Good food. Very friendly staff. Had a "garbage plate", which is not something we have in the Boston area, but it was good. The burger was actually cooked very nicely.
Strawberry pecan salad is my favorite!! My husband and son both love the fried chicken dinner. Friendly staff, quick service. Cant go wrong.
Great small town, family restaurant. The food is always great and so is the service
Great food and lots of it, we hadbreakfast. Service was awesome and we weren't rushed. Great prices 👍
Very good food, fast service, been visiting here for 20 years, always been good, can always get a table
This is a great family restaurant. The food is great there is something for everyone. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Everyone of all ages will have a great meal.
Great food great service! Good prices! Highly recommend! Breakfast served all day and a decent kids menu too!
Very pleasant people who work here. The food is great and reasonably priced. This is a Spencerport staplr
First time here. Great food, prices, and atmosphere. No complaints.
Always great food and reasonable prices! Delicous diner-style American food like burgers, breakfast, sandwhiches, and more. I like the deocrations they put up around the holidays as well.
Our waitress was great. Other staff were friendly and and attentive. Prices are fair given the current high inflation.
May have already reviewed this. Our daughter picked this place. My daughter's name is Elise. And she and I both ended up ordering EGGS ELSIE! It was quite good.
I'll have to remember that the corned beef hash is homemade and not that good. I switched to French toast which was spot on. The service was very good.
We had a delicious breakfast today. I had the fluffy biscuits with sausage gravy, and Dad had an omelet! Great service our waitress even kept up with Dads coffee refills!
Popular place for people of all ages, friendly staff, good kitchen. Nice room for groups.
Had dinner there with my daughter the other evening. She loves places she can have breakfast for dinner. Great food and service, very reasonable prices. Classic small town diner.
Our dining experiences have always been excellent. We’ve consistently had great service and satisfying tasty food. Prices are good and fair for the quality of food and service.
We were there with a group of friends. Our server was handled everything, she did a great job and was friendly. Everyone at the table enjoy their food. Nice local restaurant!
Slayton place is an excellent village diner with reasonable prices, fast & hot food, and friendly wait staff. I visit for breakfast and/or lunch frequently and have yet to be disappointed. The mediterranean omelet with is my personal favorite breakfast dish. Edit: After a few years of coming here, I am amazed by the consistency of good quality and good service. Bumping this up to a 5!
Really enjoyed my lunch. Good service, food and prices.
This place was recommended to us by Paul down at Northwest Auto Mall and I must say Slayton's Place is spot on. Great food and service! The Mississippi Benny is the best breakfast I have had in a long time!
Great breakfast spot in Spencerport. Some of the best coffee i have ever had. Their portions are great and even when they are busy they always get your order right. Id highly reccomend this place for breakfast or lunch. I have never dined for dinner.
Really nice family place. Good food. Nice waitresses, nice and roomy and clean. Pricing is competitive. Have been going there for years and will continue to do so!
Really enjoyed my lunch there today with a friend. I had the Slayton Burger and it was fantastic! The fries were excellent too. Server was great and very attentive.
The service was excellent, the food portions were generous, and the restaurant was clean. Our server was very pleasant and made sure our drinks (coffees) were refilled. She checked with us often, to see if everything was satisfactory, if there was anything we needed, etc. The prices were reasonable. The atmosphere was family oriented. There was a separate room where you could reserve for private parties at no cost, but there's a minimum of 20 people. If some didn't make it they wouldn't mind. My recommendation would be to tip generously in that case...😊 I promise you won't be disappointed. I've been going to this restaurant for quite some time and none of my guests have ever complained about the food, service or anything else. Thank you for reading my review.
We hosted our daughter's "Morning After" bridal brunch in the private room. We already knew this was a good place to eat but the food and service for our special event exceeded our expectations. Vicki is a wonderful hostess and offered excellent suggestions for our personal menu. We received many compliments from our guests. You won't go wrong holding your event here!
Nice clean diner/restaurant. Nice friendly service and good food. Just what u hope to expect from local restaurant. Family frequently enjoys it here!
Friday evening and everything is packed. Managed to get a table. First time here. Waitress was quick and friendly. Ordered the broiled seafood platter (unusual for us to both have the same thing). Everything was delicious. Ended with the fried banana sundae. WARNING do not order this unless you are very hungry. It is enough for four or a teenager.
This is the first time I ordered take out fish fries ever there . I have to say the presentation of the takeout was incredible The fish was absolutely delicious. The entire meal was top-notch! I can't thank them enough for making a fish fry so pleasant! I only wish I would have taken a picture of when I opened my to-go box to show everybody what an awesome job they do. It does not come in a styrofoam carton where it gets moist and soggy. It actually comes in a cardboard box that has a nice fish on it (drawing)with tin foil lined inside and everything is laid out just beautifully.
Great selection of food choices at good prices. Staff is friendly and attentive. Nice holiday village collection and snowman collection.
Good breakfast big portions waitress was excellent early Sunday morning so I'm not a lot of customers at that time but when we were leaving it's started to fill up. Plenty of parking
This is one of my favorite restaurants. I highly recommend the seafood bisque.
Perfect cozy spot for a meal! Great selection, excellent food and amazing service! We love Slayton Place!
Every time we've gone there, we received good service and good food 😀
Slayton's is a nice family style restaurant. The portions are generous, prices are reasonable, and the staff friendly and efficient.
Very nice, clean restaurant. Good food and reasonable prices. I recommend this restaurant.
Very clean, and the waiter we had was extremely nice and attentive, he even engaged in conversation and was very funny. This was my 2nd time going for breakfast and the food was delicious both times. I highly recommend.
The food at Slayton place is largely diner fare, with large portions. The wait staff is very friendly and accommodating, willing to provide whatever you need. Great place to go with the family. Prices are good, especially for the size of items. Order at table, pay at register--I personally have not been able to use Google pay from my phone on the QR code found on the receipt. Repeat customer.
This is my go-to restaurant/diner every other Friday (and I live 25 miles away). Delicious food, but my fav is the seafood bisque (served only on Fridays). If I’m in the area on other days, I’ll order French Onion soup. Servers are friendly and tentative, and the atmosphere is comfortable. Restrooms are clean.
First time here. We were seated right away. Hostess and server were very friendly. I ordered the Buffalo chicken salad and my husband ordered the reuben sandwich with mac salad. Food came out quick, maybe 10 minute wait. He loved his Reuben Sandwich!!! He definitely would order again. My Buffalo Chicken Salad was good but didn’t wow me. I would order it again but there is so much on the menu that I want to try, it might take a bit to try the Buffalo Chicken Salad again. Great little diner and can’t recommend it enough!!! This may just be our new go to place. Next we will try getting to go food from here.
The cute little diner scene that you're looking for! Excellent food and service. I love the French dip, and my fiance loves the Union burger! They know how to temp their meat, and they always have great specials! The prices are totally reasonable too. It's a perfect place for a quick meal.
Cute diner that holds lots of hungry people. Clean inside with ceramics which are lined up along the window sill.I ordered the raspberry ice tea which was cold and refreshing. Not overly sweet just right! A full menu was offered for lunch which consisted of p soup salads sandwiches and larger meals. My choice was the bowl of home made chicken noodle soup and the apple chicken walnut orangesalad which came with poppy seed dressing. The home made chicken noodle soup was scrumptious as well as the salad. I had plenty leftover to carry home for dinner. The server was professional friendly and prompt. What I loved was the fact that inflation has not hit this resturant. Delicious fresh food at pre covid prices!
My wife and I had breakfast at Slayton Place on Sat. morning. My wife had a vegetarian omelet with hash browns and I had eggs, sausage links and pancakes. Everything was delicious with the exception of the pancakes, which were sour. I mentioned this to our server and she had a fresh batch made. She returned with an additional pancake and this batch was much better. I highly recommend breakfast at this diner. The food was delicious, portions were large and the service was excellent. I'll definitely be back. This was the tastiest breakfast that I've had in Rochester.
The service is prompt, the prices are reasonable, the food is what you'd expect from a diner, and the atmosphere is cozy. Down sides are the parking situation and the sandwiches are served with potato chips.
I ordered a tuna fish sandwich. I'm not sure, but I think they added salt and pepper to it. I not supposed to eat a lot of salt, and I'm not fond of pepper added to food.
We like it, second time back. We've been looking for a breakfast place that checks all the boxes. Good food, good service, good menu, clean, close by and accepts credit cards.
Great food with satisying portions. Lots of pies for dessert, and decent seating area with both tables and booths. Doesn't stand out against the competition, but you can definitely go worse.
The food and price were great. The staff was a little to laid back but overall good experience.
The food is delicious and definitely worth the price. During the many visits we have made, the service has always been quick and delightful.
We have always had good food here for the most part. For a short time it was different..when Shanna our waitress left, but it's almost back to a great place to go after church Saturday nights. French fries are awesome & meat hot sauce too. Shaved steak & burgers are great too.
First time to visit was breakfast this morning. Great service, very good food. My only complaint was the food wasn't hot at the table. Good, but not hot.
This was our first time at this restaurant. My French Dip sandwich was one of the best that I have had in a long time. My wife's salad was OK. I will go back again sometime.
Good food, friendly service. Good sized portions.
We stopped here on our way through biking from Buffalo to Rochester, it was a great little stop and it had good food. It's your typical dinner, and service was good. If your going through the area like we were and looking for breakfast, I would suggest here.
The food and service were both very good. I didn't have to wait for a table when I got there.
1st time there. My sister and I went for lunch. I had the taco wrap with sweet potato fries. Only reason for the rate of 4 is because the fries were a bit soggy. The wrap was great. My sister had the patty melt with potato chips. Her chips were stale and she was disappointed with the melt. Overall I liked the place. The atmosphere is that of "your hometown, neighborhood " restaurant. 😀
I have never eaten in the restaurant, only ordered take out. But I will say, both the fish sandwich I got, and my Cobb salad were fantastic. Extra shout out for the fish sandwich, which really is phenomenal. Always been a quick order taking process and quick out the door.
This place is great for local breakfast. Its a great traditional diner with good, traditional diner food (a rare find when every other place serves newfangled hipster meals no one asked for). Waffles, pancakes, french toast, eggs, toast, bacon, etc. Friendly staff, fast service, ample seating and parking so there is rarely a wait. Good location too. My only complaint is that it feels a bit dated inside. With a little cosmetic work and slightly stronger coffee, this place would definitely be 5 stars!
Nice quiet place with a good menu.
Great place for all American down home comfort dineresque food. Friendly efficient wait staff. You never have to wait long for your food or refills on your drinks. My absolute favorite place to have breakfast. I always order the Eggs Benedict and they never disappoint! Very reasonable pricing doesn't hurt the pocket book, either.
I just had breakfast there today and had dirty silverware and egg shells in my eggs. I understand that mistakes happen so I’ll disregard the shells in the eggs but to put out dirty silverware is unacceptable. I really think you need a better dishwasher and whoever is wrapping the silverware in the napkins should be double checking for cleanliness.
Quaint, family hometown vibe. Clean environment. Friendly staff and quality diner food. A fine option for breakfast or lunch.
Their corned beef hash is homemade, really tasty. And fish fry every day, not just Friday. Our breakfast was delicious and very reasonably priced The food was really good and the service was fast, and tentative, but the waitress had no personality whatsoever. She was polite enough, but seriously, it was like being waited on by a female version of Ben Stein. It was a little depressing actually, but the food was worth it.
Half eaten French dip sandwich. Wish the roast beef was more on the shredded side not something that looks like it was taken out a package of deli meat. The fries though were deliciously coated and crispy. The French opinion soup not pictured is so delicious and filling. Would highly recommend 👌
Quick service but food is not fresh made. Saw lots of cans in the kitchen. Great staff though. Clean and well maintained.
Service could have been more attentive
We dined late, just soup and salads. Restaurant was clean and decorated nicely. Food was nothing special nor the service. Scallops were the nightly special and the entire dining area had the smell of a fish market.
My Decaf coffee was not fresh. I told the waitress, and she never offered to make a fresh cup. I enjoy my coffee in the morning. Not going there again
Food was okay. Meatballs a bit burnt and my husband and I got hot turkey sandwiches.... the mashed had the consistency of instant potatoes and the turkey was dry . Probably won't return.
UPDATE 10/13/24: We recently had dinner here again with friends ONLY because they like this restaurant and it's a convenient location for them, so we decided to give this place another chance after a not so good dinner here six months ago. The restaurant was only about half full at 5:30 when we arrived on a recent Saturday. We were seated immediately and given menus. Our group ordered beer batter fish fry, a turkey cheddar wrap, and chicken parmesan. It took roughly 25 minutes for our food to be served but our food was hot enough to eat. The fish frys were tasty but soggy and not at all crispy. The turkey cheddar wrap was OK but nothing outstanding. The chicken parmesan was (again) tough and so overcooked that it was difficult to cut it with a knife, and that's no exaggeration. Apparently they STILL cannot cook chicken parmesan without overcooking it. After taking just two bites, that plate went back to the kitchen and a turkey dinner was ordered to replace it. That dinner was served up roughly 20 minutes later and it was served mostly hot. There were three very thin slices of turkey covered in gravy on top of a large pile of stuffing. The amount of food served was filling, but the turkey tasted like bland deli turkey, while the stuffing had a good but heavily seasoned taste. Not what you hope for in a meal like that. Four meals totaled a bit over $63 plus tax. As someone in our group said, the food we ate here was "nothing to write home about". Well said. The only redeeming thing about our dinner here was the service. Our young server (I didn't get her name) was friendly, efficient, and very accommodating throughout our dinner, so our thanks to her. The current prices here aren't outrageous if you don't mind mediocre food not prepared properly and limited dinner choices. After yet another less than memorable dinner here, we've finally learned our lesson and will definitely not be back again. Thanks for reading! April 2024: We've eaten at Slayton Place a number of times, and the food and service have been mostly OK but nothing truly outstanding. Unlike some other restaurants in the area, their menu here has a somewhat limited number of offerings, so you'd expect that what they do offer would be very good. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case recently. Our dinner order consisted of a fish fry and chicken parmesan. The fish fry for $16.00 was good, although a little on the smaller side. However, the chicken parmesan was so overcooked and so tough that much of it couldn't be cut with a dinner knife, so it went back to the kitchen and was removed from our bill. And, yes, I've made chicken parmesan from scratch more than once so I know what it takes to cook it properly. The only thing that truly stood out during our meal was the service we received from our server Bill. He was excellent and apologized repeatedly for the bad chicken parmesan, although it's not his fault that the people in the kitchen can't do a good job with a dish like that. Truly outstanding service, and the best service we've ever received here. Sadly, that's probably not enough to make us visit this restaurant again. Thanks for reading.
The Old style sit in has a very authentic I hop vibe to it. With a greasy breakfast, it seems like the best cure for a hangover, but on a basic day just like any other Denny's or a I hop. The food is good and the service is fast although the restaurant is full of people that could be my great grandparents, it's quiet, quick, clean and yummy. The price for portions is reasonable! A small, comfortable, family owned diner.
It was a decent diner. A bit warm and stuffy inside. Seemed stale inside. They seemed busy although no wait. A lot of dirty tables with dinner plates on them. Servers should prebus the tables to work together since its just the hostess doing all the heavy lifting. I ordered the turkey with gravy and French fries. Very delicious turkey and gravy. Liked their fry brand too.
Our waitress was Very Pleasant and got the orders correct and nothing had to be sent back. However, the center cut pork chops were VERY DRY, the stuffing flat as a pancake (Literally) and the gravy was Very Salty and looked like liquid paste with brown food coloring. The Only Things that I enjoyed was the salad before the meal and the mashed potatoes (Respectively). My bill came to $16.20. I personally believe that was a bit on the pricey side. I tipped the waitress $2, Only Because Of Her Positive Attributes. But I Didn't care for the food at all.
They have almost no gluten free options. My sister and mother said their food was fine; typical diner fare. Service was very good though and there was plenty of parking.
The French toast was terrible. No flavor just white bread maybe fried in butter. They asked how I liked the food but didn't appear too interested in my response.
Not a good experience. We were looked at as if we had two heads, notice that waitress went to other tables to ask if they needed anything but we had to constantly get her attention to ask for whatever it was we needed. Will never go back there.
Had breakfast there this morning, I ordered a cheese omelette with home fries and sour dough toast, the omelette was like a plate of scrambled eggs with a slice of American cheese on top, in the middle of the eggs and a very small piece of cheese inside the omelette under that, I had to fold all the eggs around the cheese to make it resemble a real omelette, The toast had a good amount of unmelted margarine on it, not butter. I also had home fries which I gave to my husband, he could not eat them or his hash browns, stating they tasted like they were cooked on the same side of the grill where the burger and everything else was fried. His breakfast was about the same as mine in quantity. The coffee was strong and needed a lot of cream and sugar. I rated it a two because some of the food other customers were getting, like pancakes and lunch dishes, looked better than what we got, and the price was reasonable
First time at this restaurant and might be last. Before we even were seated the waitress asked for our drink order, not having been there before we didn't even know what they had. Although the food was good I discovered a hair in my mashed potatoes. When I brought it to the waitress attention she said well no one in kitchen has long hair and then implications that it was mine!!! No I'm sorry or ill replace them with something else..really???we were turned off by her lack of concern/ customer service.
Family of 5. Took 20 minutes to even be asked for drinks. Had to get up and ask a hostess where our server was. Her name was Mindy and was no where to be found. Even the hostess was like where is she... uhmm idk lol. Also prices are a little outrageous. $15.50 just for drinks to go with my breakfast? $3.00 for a diner cup of coffee??? Cold home fries. 1st and last time here.
I use to love this place and tell everyone to go there. BUT, the past 4x's that I have ordered take out I have been so disappointed. Either I don't get what I ordered, food is missing and this last time they kept informing me that they couldn't produce what I wanted which I had to changed 3 times. I ended up paying for food that I never received and had to go to another restaurant. I will NEVER return.
I ordered a chicken ceaser wrap over the phone... The chicken was gummy/chewy and the lettuce was hot and wilted. Not very happy I would have brought it back but seeing I'm on my 30 min lunch that is not possible. So I ended up eating just the wrap... will NOT be ordering out from there again!!!
First time going there. The two of us were seated promptly although the bench seat was worn out and you could literally feal the springs and framing sticking through the cushion. Waitress was quick to take our drink order and return. As it was our first ( and last) time going we asked for a couple minutes to look at the menu. About ten minutes later she returned only to tell us that they were out of our selection, so we asked for a few more minutes. At the 15 minute mark we decided to pay for our drinks and leave. So in a nutshell in the span of 25 minutes we were able to get two pepsi's. If you're out of something maybe you should let it be known up front, and maybe since we were two of maybe six people in the place, a bit more attention to the customers might be in order. Probably a great place if you're one of the regulars, but we won't ever be one.
I ordered eggs over easy They came hard no yolk at all to dip toast I sent them back They came way under cooked with that clear snot ... Very rude , terrible customer service ... Would never EVER eat here again 18$ for breakfast with eggs you never ate Is horrible.. The waitress did not even care ! Better to drive a little further to get better food & service !
Was recommended to me by a respected business owner in the village, so I felt good about trying it. I've got to say.....gag me with a spoon! Yuck. I had french onion soup and although I couldn't put my finger on it, it was just wrong and it tasted gross. I had some kind of grilled sandwich and that didn't float my boat either. The restaurant was packed, so I assumed the other diners liked their food. But I will not be going back.
I go weekly for breakfast and every thing is perfect Our waitress remember what everyone eats She is excellent. It is also kept clean all the time and food is very good. 100% for this home town restaurant!!!
Looking for a new place for breakfast we decided to drive 17 miles and try Slaytons Place. The restaurant was bright, clean and full of diners, all good signs. Service was quick and friendly. We ordered two of the specials of the day. My wife had the quiche and I ordered the blueberry pancakes. The quiche arrived dry and crumbly certainly not made recently. The pancakes were dry and leathery, certainly made ahead of time. They arrived with a dollop of margarine and maple flavored karo syrup. The coffee? Well lets just say you would not go there for the coffee. We should have known when we looked at the menu online. Have you ever eaten at a restaurant with hundreds of items on its menu and thought I'll return here soon?
Used to go there about once a month for breakfast. Last time I ordered corned beef hash plate and when the waitress brought it to the table, it was obvious the breakfast cook needs some serious training in traditional American breakfast cuisine. This dish looked like cook just threw it together just guessing by the description of the dish within the name
Was seated immediately at a dirty table that still had the previous occupants tips on it, waited for 20 minutes for service, it never came, so my fiancee and I left. We will not be back
I was going there for years and saw the quality definitely slip. A couple of the food dishes just were not good and another time in my eggs I found a bread twist tie cooked into my food. I understand accidents happen but it happend a couple times and instead of a refund or new meal I was offered a free coffee. No thanks.
"Rude staff" employees whose actions are impolite, disrespectful, inconsiderate, aggressive, and display a lack of basic manners or social awareness.
What ever you do, DO NOT order the broiled fish. My gosh, it was the worst meal my mom and I EVER had at any diner. It was so dried out it was inedible. Our first clue was when we saw that the edges of the fish were burned and black. They did comp part of the our meal but not nearly enough. We have had good meals here but this meal was so disgusting I am considering never returning. The waitress was very nice.
