We ordered rigatoni vodka, fried mozzarella, garlic bread, and three different types of pizza — and wow. We literally scraped every plate clean. Everything was unbelievably delicious. But what made the experience even more special were Alyssa. She is truly the sweetest person ever. Her warmth, kindness, and genuine hospitality made our day absolutely perfect. If you want real Italian flavors and an amazing atmosphere, this is the place. Hands down the best. Thank you for such a wonderful experience!
Rigatoni vodka, fried mozzarella, garlic bread, and three different pizzas — every single dish was outstanding. We literally finished everything. Alyssa is the sweetest soul. Her kindness and positive energy made the whole experience even better. She truly made our day. Best Italian spot around. No question. Highly recommend!
My wife and I recently went to Sally’s in Stamford before a comedy show at the New York Comedy Club. We got there around 5 p.m. during happy hour, and it wasn’t very crowded, which was great. We grabbed a booth and ordered a few things off the happy hour menu: the calamari, wings, and arancini balls, and everything was fantastic. The calamari was light, crispy, and honestly some of the best I’ve had in a while. For a $6 portion, it was a steal, and the Calabrian chili dipping sauce that came with it was excellent. The wings were big, juicy, spicy, and all flats, which was a nice surprise. The arancini were packed with flavor and melty cheese, paired with a delicious pesto ricotta sauce. For pizza, we ordered a small traditional tomato pie and a large “mootz,” half bacon and onion, half sausage and hot cherry peppers. The pizza was good overall, although the large we ordered was barely bigger than the small. Being from near New Haven and visiting the original Sally’s now and then, it didn’t quite match that level, but it was still enjoyable. The service throughout our meal was great. Overall, we had a really good experience with great appetizers, solid pizza, friendly service, and a nice relaxed atmosphere for a pre-show dinner. We’d definitely go back, especially for the happy hour.
My first taste of New Haven style pizza did not disappoint! We stopped in for a late lunch and the atmosphere was great. Pizza was delicious, thin, crispy and the toppings were generous! Their spin on a wedge salad was also excellent, and it was definitely a shareable sized portion. Shoutout to our server, Mickey, for making it an even better dining experience! He was friendly and funny and totally on point!
Exceeded expectations! I successfully placed an order and enjoyed a convenient pickup right at the restaurant. I was fortunate to snag a parking spot right out front. The pizza was well-executed with a perfectly crispy crust; however, I found the sausage to be a bit on the mild side—I'd personally prefer a touch more spice, which is why I'm giving it 4 stars. The location is fantastic, complemented by wonderful service that truly enhances the experience. The price was quite reasonable for a delicious 12-inch sausage and mushroom pizza.
One of my favorite pizza spots, everyone is always so nice to us and we always get great service. Shout out to Chris and Max for always being so welcoming A++++++. Also if you haven’t subscribe to their emails, they always send awesome deals you don’t want to miss!!!!
We drove almost three hours to try the pizza and it was worth it. Perfectly cooked with a nice char on the crust, fresh sauce, great mozzarella, just perfect. We also had the Caesar salad with house dressing and the garlic bread. The salad was GREAT, but the garlic bread is the best I've ever had in my life. I'll be dreaming about it long after we've left. The pesto dip you get with it was fantastic. Service here was outstanding as well. Great atmosphere inside, plenty of seating, a nice full size bar, and an open style kitchen where you can watch them prepping the pizza. They also have a decent amount of outdoor seating with some well placed plants that offer some privacy from the busy downtown sidewalks. Can't say enough good things, looking forward to coming back again in the future!
Sally’s in Stamford is just as amazing as the original—but without the long wait! They take reservations, which makes the whole experience even better. Same great pizza, same iconic flavor, and way more convenient. Highly recommend if you want that classic Sally’s taste without standing in line!
Sally’s Apizza in Stamford is renowned for its thin-crust, New Haven-style pizza, baked in a coal-fired oven and topped with fresh ingredients. It’s friendly and attentive service, as well as the lively, family-friendly. Highly recommend.
This was an absolute treasure of a dining experience! Had to come to Stamford for work, and I saw this place was just a short walk from my hotel. Everything I ordered was perfect. The Italian Old-fashioned cocktail was flavourful and strong, The fried Calamari was crisp and bursting with flavor from the 2 dipping sauces and was cooked right! In many other places, the calamari is cooked until rubbery, not here! I got the original New Haven Pizza, and it was cooked to perfection and was a real treat! To drink, I tried their Birch Beer soda, so good! The wait staff were friendly and top-notch. If you're ever in Stamford, do yourself a favor and come here!
So grateful to be living in a state with great pizzas! We are the pizza capital after all. Sally's Apizza is a known local spot known for its classic New Haven-style thin-crust pizza. We ordered the Calabrian stinger, which had a perfectly crispy yet chewy crust, no flop, flavorful tomato sauce, and it was spicy, yet addictive. The atmosphere makes it a great place for a casual pizza night with friendly service. I’m looking forward to going back. It’s the top 3 for me next to Modern Pizza and Colony.
Loved it here. Thin crust pizza, charred around the edges - what they're known for. The waitress said they use more sauce, less cheese. That had me a bit nervous as isn't pizza all about cheese??? So happy with the two we chose. Had those slices with a Fiddlehead IPA. We had someone with us who was on crutches and were seated a little sooner than we would have been otherwise. Had fun. Music was a little too loud for my taste, but it didn't seem to bother anyone else. Staff was great!
I have to say this pizza is by far one of the best I ever had. I know this isn’t the historical New Haven location but it’s truly phenomenal. I was lucky enough to grab takeout in 30 minutes on a very busy Friday night. I’d recommend this location for a fun date night due to the bar and huge open spaces in both floors. If you want to talk privately or enjoy sitting at the bar this could be the place for you. The pizza itself was great - beautiful char, good sauce and perfect pepperoni cupping. This place will drive me to try the New Haven location in the near future. Edit: Tried their new Italian wings and they’re delicious. Also pictured is the wedge salad which was great. Update: Breanna was our waiter on my second visit to Sally’s and she provided spot-on recommendations across the new appetizers, plates and pizza options. She was super attentive and a pleasure as she checked in on us and made sure we hand everything we needed. I’m making sure everytime I go to Sally’s, I ask for her.
This place is lovely. First off, me, being a stubborn New Yorker who happens to be Puerto Rican, expectations are always high on Pizza places. This is no ordinary pizza place. It's a sit down restaurant serving delicious appetizers (wings, brussel sprouts, salad wedges and other salads, fried calamari.) The main course was the pizza. A summer time special, shrimp scampi pizza pie. They take all the shrimp scampi ingredients, lemon zest creamy buttery, shrimp pizza. I died and went to heaven, but returned to earth for another pie at Sally's Apizza.
Great food. Great vibes! Best apizza around. Salads were great. Meatballs excellent. 10/10 get the potato pie. If you know then you know
There aren’t enough good words in the English language to describe the service, quality and taste from Sally’s. We catered them for my sister’s bachelorette sleepover we themed around pizza, and they pulled through for us in every way. They accommodated my gluten free requests with alternatives, the pizza, garlic bread (with pesto ricotta) and salad was amazing. How do you make an amazing salad?! To top it all of they were at our place on 7:00 on the dot, pizza hot and ready to go. They gave my sister a special present that really tied our whole theme together, the delivery guy was so friendly, CANT RECOMMEND ENOUGH!!
Katrina served me and four of my girlfriends tonight and she was fabulous. Recommended items on the menu and how to elevate them (extra cheese on the pizza!!). She had such a positive attitude we wanted her to sit with us! The food was really good, we got three pizzas and two apps and drinks. Huge fan of the hoodoo brown pizza but particularly loved the firebird pizza with extra cheese and sub the chicken with meatballs instead (per Katrina’s recommendation). So delicious and had plenty to bring home! Would totally come back and recommend. Can’t wait to return!
Lizzy, our server, was incredibly kind and helpful. She was always making sure everything we needed was covered, and she was very polite to us! My fiancé and I had just traveled from CA to CT and we were dying to try this place. The pizza was amazing— and “amazing” is a total understatement!! If you stop by Stamford CT you NEED to go here!!
Great New Haven style apizza, awesome caesar salad, and Very little, if any, wait. ...but the pizza is not exactly the same experience as the OG. It is very very close, but not the same. The OG on Wooster is still the best, but this one is still better than 95% of the pizzas out there.
Large pizza says 2-3 served, but it'll easily feed 4. The chicken wings were tasty, but not a must do. The pizza was crunchy, topped with the perfect amount of cupping pepperoni and basil. The service was attentive without disturbing. Root beer was great. The Wooster Street Martini was very tasty as well. Nice sports bar vibe with just enough wine bar boujee.
We were coming in for a wedding in Stamford and wanting to try New Haven style pizza. Bummed we were an hour away we found out Sally's opened up a new location a few weeks ago so now we were pumped. We ordered their clam pie and potato/bacon pie. We informed the staff we were super excited to have that New Haven experience in Stamford and the owner himself delivered us a cheese and tomato pie. We were not planning to eat three pizzas but I have to say it was worth the extra calories!
Perfectly cooked pizza with clearly homemade sauce and fresh cheese. Absolutely a top pizza place for me. Highly recommend the Basil Burrata pizza! We were sat quickly with a reservation ahead of time, and were served by a super friendly waiter who gave us recommendations for ordering. 2 small pizzas was perfect for 3 of us. We ended with tiramisu that was delicious.
Excellent New Haven style pie - thin crust (extremely well baked with a little char), great red sauce, light on the cheese and amazing toppings. The sausage and potato options were fantastic - and the cheese-only pie was a classic! Great new rendition of a classic spot!
We have been living in CT for 5 years and have had pizzas at the well-known places (e.g. Sally’s, Frank Pepe Pizzeria Napoletan) in New Haven. We finally got to try Sallys in Stamford after we moved here. We ordered the clam pizza to go. The pizza smelled so good in the car and tasted good as well, similar to what we had at New Haven. We are big garlic lovers and the garlic on the pizza was great. We wanted well-done and when the pizza just came out, it needed a little more time. The manager immediately took it back and cooked for a little longer to ensure we got what we wanted. We appreciate that he held high standards for the food the restaurant provided. They had many orders and it took them less than 16 minutes to get ours ready. I saw the food the other customers ordered when we were waiting. Those were also very well presented. We will visit again for dine-in for sure.
Pizza is always good. We had a great customer service experience with Dominique. She was friendly, professional, and attentive. She really stands out for her kindness and great customer service.
Some of the best Connecticut Pizza you will ever had. Mickey was our server yesterday and is definitely our new favorite human! He had amazing humor, personality and food suggestions.
I've ordered to go from them multiple times but never had it. Fresh as fresh can be straight out of the oven. And my god, is this pizza unbelievably good. It tastes every bit as good as the new haven location. Which to me has taken the spot over pepes as the king of Connecticut pizza. The bartender was really nice and funny.
I seen a bunch of negative reviews and I am not sure why?! atmosphere was great. Music was not loud at all. Service was absolutely amazing. I forgot the person that helped us his name, but he was great! Kept coming over and asking what we wanted. How was everything what we need anything at all. Food was delicious. Not a single negative thing I can say. By far the best pizza I’ve had in a very very Long time.
Food was incredible, even comparable to the New Haven location. This one had a classier and updated atmosphere that was very pleasant and enjoyable. Our particular waitress was subpar, there was not much enthusiasm or speed. Poor service could be due to slim staffing or possibly the time of day (2-3pm). That said, food was great, always our favorite pizza, and one of the best caesar salads. Overall, great experience, however service could be improved.
As a buffalonian I had to see what the hype was about. I ordered half extra cheese half normal and I couldn't tell which was which. The pizza was good but not the best and a little to burnt for my liking. Hey, now I know. My wife had the chicken parm and she said it was one of the best she had.
Sally’s Apizza is a great restaurant with a modern, cozy, and aesthetic atmosphere that’s also very comfortable. I ordered the meatballs, garlic shrimp, chicken parmesan, and a pie that was half tomato sauce and half mozzarella & tomato sauce. The food was very good and comforting, though the garlic shrimp was a bit too salty. I’ve also tried the Italian wings in the past, which were excellent. The service is friendly, making the dining experience even better
I came here on a Friday evening and it was very busy. The wait time was going to be 40 min for walk-ins but luckily we had a reservation. We were given a large table and our orders were taken promptly. We tried a large regular tomato and cheese pie and a large basil buratta pie. Both were excellent and 4 of us finished both, while leaving full and satisfied. There’s a lot of room here but the place is very loud and it was extremely difficult to have a conversation.
Outstanding place to get Apizza! Recommend just getting one of the classics to ensure an authentic experience! Just like getting it at the location in New Haven. Be sure to make a reservation if you're able, because wait times can get close to an hour. Only issue with the entire experience was the table service. Left a lot of be admired.
Visited for the first time a few days ago. We drove from about two hrs away to specifically go there. Nice area. We ate outside because we had a dog with us. The service was excellent. We had a Cesar salad with their house dressing which was DELICIOUS. It had a little kick to it but we liked that. The garlic bread, so different from any I've had before. It reminds me of deep dish pizza crust, we loved it. The pizza wasn't my favorite pizza, but my husband loved it. I'd definitely love to try other dishes if we're ever in the area again. I also liked how they have a sink outside of the restrooms to wash your hands, but they should have more than two single restrooms for people. There was a line both times I went.
Went in for the first time for a Tuesday lunch, after recommendations. Place was really quiet, service was great. We ordered the calamari’s to start, which were probably some of the best calamari I’ve ever tasted. Highly recommend! Then ordered the garden special pie, which wasn’t the greatest, maybe a 7/10. Also as a heads up, the medium specialty pies can feed more than two people! Overall would recommend.
Updated review: made it over to Sally’s for dine in early Saturday evening and did not have to wait to get seated. Service was fantastic even though the pizzas took some time to come out. Was well worth the wait though as the pizzas were excellent quality. Potato pie was cooked perfectly as was the mozzarella pie (although I would have preferred a little more cheese). Hopefully take out gets worked out but look forward to coming back. Original review: Love Sally’s in New Haven so was super excited to have Sally’s Stamford open up two blocks from my condo. Tried to order pick up twice only to be told they are sold out for the day for pick up even though I stopped by at 4pm. The other option is to wait over an hour to dine in which isn’t really an option with kids. We wound up ordering from another pizzeria instead and plenty of good pizza in Stamford. Even though Sally’s is technically our closest pizza spot we will avoid until the hype dies down.
The food is great, it's the Sally's experience with an extended menu. Try the wedge salad! The drink and appetizer portions could be a little more generous for the prices. Service was friendly but a little slow to get food out. Wish there was a bigger bar or waiting area. Sitting at a high top, there were people hovering over our dinner while they waited for a table. Will be back for the pizza and salad.
I come here regularly with friends after playing at Pickleball America a block away. Love everything about the place… the food is great, it’s clean, the servers are all very pleasant even though some lack training. My reason for giving only four stars is that I find it surprising that a growing restaurant chain has virtually no gluten free options. GF pizza crusts are not that uncommon in many other places I’ve been to. So a number of my friends can’t come here, which is a shame and leads us to go elsewhere whenever someone with that dining restriction joins us.
Love the New Haven style pizza 🍕 especially in Stamford however compared to the original in New Haven there is no comparison. Sizes shrunk the clam pizza I ordered fairly sure had no clams on it . It’s good for the area but if you’ve had the original before they sold out no comparison at all .
Not sure after having had Pizza s all over the world , what the fuss is about this Pizza Joint . 50 minute wait for a table , take out orders take even longer . The pizza was just ok , I did not think the crust was crispy like they say it is , the red sauce was also ok , would I really line up for this again . Ver unlikely . We had a vegetarian and Pepperoni , the portions of 12 inch were large enough and plenty of food for two people .
Great pizza had moz and tomato, clams, and cabria pies. The food was great and pies cooked well. Now the service on the other hand was perhaps the worst experience I have ever had. Our server got our drinks and even a pizza order wrong. Our group of eight did not get water to the table until after the pizzas came and we had to ask another server for help. Never stopped by to see how we were doing. Had to get our own condiments tray. The other servers around us seem to be doing a good job so may have just been ours who was terrible. Maybe he was new but I could excuse mistakes if the server is at least attentive and trying. Very excited to try New Haven style pizza for the first time and the terrible service did damping an otherwise great experience. This really should be a 4+ rating with just average service.
We have always been Sally fan. We are OG fans from New Haven. For the first five times going to this location was great. The last three times has been awful service and the pizzas came to the table cold. Sorry Sally I doubt we will go back. Pity.
Atmosphere and service are nice - pizza is very mid unfortunately. Dough could use more salt. Paid for a large pizza (12 slices) and got the pizza pictured below - note the tiny slices in this "large pie" - could have been prepared better.
So I was really excited to try the spot because it has so many good reviews and it seems like a very popular spot in Stamford. When I walked in it wasn't what I expected. I thought it was more of a grab and go style but it's an actual restaurant. There is a host and they walk you to your table. I sat the bar and I had a great server I didn't get his name. I ordered a regular pie and added chicken to it. I'm used to New York style pizza where there's a cheese pull a nice crust super saucy and flavorful. This pizza didn't taste like anything I had to add a lot of Parmesan cheese, oregano and garlic to make it taste better. The waiter did tell me that it's a New Haven style pizza. I didn't really know what that meant but now that I do, this is not a pizza spot that I would go to again.
Service was horrible. We were sat right at 7 for our reservation, which was great. We ordered drinks and apps/salads right away. And asked for waiter to come back in a few minutes. He didn't come back for over 20 minutes. So, from the time of walking in to the time we ordered our meal it took over 40 minutes. Nothing came out together. Our salad came first. We were done with salad by the time the wings came. About 25 min after our aps, we got the first pizza (Luke warm), we all shared because the second and third pizzas came out separately about ten minutes apart . The two other pizzas were good. What we were expecting. The few tables bext to us were experiencing the same situation. No apologies for food cold or coming out separately. Our bill was way too much for the service and the quality of the salad (wilted from too much dressing) a cold Pizza Special that the cheese was almost hard.
Booked a reservation and waited for 45min for a regular pie just for them to tell us that there’s a party upstairs with large orders so it’s gonna take another 10min. Pizza is dry and dehydrated like a cracker lol as you can see in the photos. 1/10 for pizza despite the fact we love the OG spot but this spot isn’t it. Also large size pizza is soooo much smaller than it used to be. It’s like a medium at best. And it had an army of kids screaming so atmosphere is not really good, also very understaffed.
Takeout Experience: I ordered takeout from Sally's Apizza, hoping for a good experience, but it was disappointing from start to finish. The pizza lacked the basics—barely any cheese, sauce, or pepperoni. It felt like someone was blindfolded when making it, missing the toppings entirely. Food: The food quality has drastically declined. While the issue of the copious amount of flour- coated pizza bottom has improved since my last visit, nothing else has. This time, the pizza had no flavor, lacked sauce, had minimal cheese, and a few sparse pieces of pepperoni- most slices without any pepperoni. To make matters worse, the crust was extremely burnt—and I am NOT talking New Haven Style burnt… I’m talking- so much so that it crumbled apart, unable to hold together. It was like eating burnt crumbles instead of a pizza. Price: Given the quality of the food, the price feels unjustified. You expect a certain standard, especially from a place like Sally's Apizza, which carries a historic name in pizza. Sadly, this experience does a great disservice to the legacy of the original Sally's, offering subpar food at premium prices. Location/Parking: Located in a convenient spot, but that’s about the only positive. Ample parking doesn’t make up for the poor quality of the pizza. Atmosphere: Although I did not dine in this time, I did experience the interior. The decor and vibe inside Sally's Apizza aim for a classic, old-school pizzeria feel, with a casual and laid-back atmosphere. The seating consists of simple tables and booths, designed to accommodate both small and large groups. Overall: Sally's Apizza was a huge disappointment. I gave it another chance after a bad experience two years ago, only to find that things have gotten worse. The pizza was lacking in every way—flavor, toppings, and even the ability to stay together. Unfortunately, if I want Sally’s that bad, I will only be enjoying Sally’s at the New Haven location and not the Stamford one.
WORST SERVICE I EVER SEEN We came with our SERVICE DOG and they didn’t accept him inside the restaurant only in the patio. After discussing, they made us sit inside the room. We order many plates, and we enjoyed. At 9.45pm we asked for desserts and they answered that the kitchen was closed and you could not order anything more. So we discussed again why it was not possible that we could not have our dessert!!! We were very disappointed by the service and the manager that evening.
Sadly second time my wife and I have tried Sally’s in Stamford and disappointed both times. Over the weekend went with friends and the experience was not great leaving me to wonder if the location is inline with all others? Beers were warm, first round and replacements, and tasted stale. Pizza took along time to come out, restaurant wasn’t busy, pizzas weren’t put in as I walked by the oven several times. Room temp when it did come out. Site also has reduced the size by eliminating the large and renaming the medium to large. Server said it was for “waste” reduction Bills were wrong, manager went to fix but didn’t reprint for us to sign, just said it’s fixed, leaving us to trust that happened and update the signed copy. Come Monday morning, this wasn’t corrected and had to call the bank with photos of receipts. Understaffed, one server and several runners. Overall, a general lack of management is obvious. With so many great pizzas in the area, we have no plans to return.
Absolutely my favorite pizza. I always go to the New Haven when I'm in town, but this location I'll never visit again. Service is absolutely terrible. I'm fairly sure the manager and server have never worked in the service industry before. I recommend making the drive up to New Haven.
